4. Special Single Match: Chris Brookes defeated Antonio Honda with the Praying Mantis Bomb (22:03).
The last Baka Gaijin + Friends show of the year ended with a bang. Long time friends Chris Brookes and Antonio Honda fought each other in the main event. For Brookes it was the obvious placement with him as the reigning KO-D Openweight Champion while Honda got to cap off an eventful 12 months of dramatic and unusual fights inside ARENA Shimokitazawa. Honda summoned Gongitsune but Brookes deflected the attack into Daisuke Kiso. Brookes then tried to finish Honda off with the Praying Mantis Bomb while Masahiro Takanashi pleaded with him for taking the match too far. Honda attacked both with Gongitsune, hit a Bionic Elbow and almost pinned Brookes with a Leg Clutch Hold. Brookes then reversed the Tenzan Tombstone Driver and the two tried to put each other in the Octopus Hold. Honda couldn’t last though and Brookes was able to finish him off with the Praying Mantis Bomb.
After the match Brookes thanked Honda for the match because it was both the 2nd Anniversary main event for Baka Gaijin as well as the 17th Anniversary of Brookes’s debut. Honda always said 2024 was his year of revival but that makes it sound like he is near the end. Brookes told him everyone wants to see the revival go on for next year and beyond! Honda said this year was so amazing it was as if the gods of wrestling made it worthwhile. 2024 was not the year of his revival, it was his rebirth! Next year he will be coming after Brookes and aiming right for his neck! The show ended with a group get together along with unexpected party streamers popping off over everyone’s heads. That’s the bang I was talking about.
Mr. Bueno was supposed to team up with MAO but he got someone kind of familiar in his place. MAO walked out dressed in Yuki Ueno’s full outfit and was announced to everyone as Yuki Inoueno! That only served as a distraction for Bueno meeting Mr. Malo again for the first time since Malo smashed a bottle over his head at the last Baka Gaijin show. He wanted to get payback the right way though by fighting clean and fair. When he had a chance to break a bottle over Malo’s head, he refused to do it. Inoueno though had no such problem. He grabbed Bueno’s hand and physically made him hit Malo with the bottle. Bueno at least did the gentlemanly thing and helped carry Malo out of the room after the match.
There was a surprise in store for HARASHIMA in Match #2. Ram Kaichow told him she has been a big fan of HERO! ever since she was a child. So much so she pulled out a HERO! mask and asked HARASHIMA to wear it for the match. HARASHIMA agreed and immediately got into character while Kaichow marked out for him. She then slapped HARASHIMA and told him it was only a trap because she isn’t a kid anymore. She wore the mask herself for the rest of the match. HARASHIMA noticed her attacks were now becoming superpowered so he couldn’t hold back against her. After surviving an Ectoplasm attack he gave Kaichow a Buzzsaw Kick and stepped back some distance to set up the Somato. Kaichow knew it was coming and immediately gave up out of fear. She threw the mask at HARASHIMA, yelled at him and stormed out of the room. HARASHIMA was the winner but for once he didn’t feel good about it.
The show began with an unusual sight on a Baka Gaijin show. Takayuki Ueki used to appear at these events as a mad doctor until he wiped out his memory at the September show. Today he was in his regular wrestling gear and behaved like a fresh faced rookie. However when Munetatsu Nakamura and Chie Koishikawa started double teaming him, he pulled out his pistol at them. He held them at gunpoint and ordered Koishikawa to strike Nakamura so he would fall backwards and get pinned with a School Boy from Ueki. The plan backfired as Nakamura fell right on top of Ueki and Koishikawa pressed both of them down for the three count. However Kiso ruled that Nakamura was the winner because he was directly on top of Ueki during the pin.
