The fourth official board meeting for United Japan Pro Wrestling took place earlier this month on 19th June. First on the agenda was for the directors to establish a “Customer Harassment Response Policy” to be used among all of the member promotions and it was unanimously approved. This is to cover rules and measures regarding interactions between fans and employees of any of the wrestling companies in the UJPW. The goal of the policy is to maintain a safe working environment for employees while also protecting the rights of the fans.
After that, the meeting turned its attention towards some applications regarding UJPW’s membership. For over a year now World Women’s Pro Wrestling Diana has been a Supporting Member of the federation, the lesser of the two tiers in UJPW’s membership system. It was revealed that they had applied to be upgraded to Regular Member status. There was also an application from GLEAT requesting to join UJPW as a Supporting Member. Both application were accepted by the board after a rigorous review. GLEAT’s president Hiroyuki Suzuki said the promotion will use this opportunity to learn from their predecessors. GLEAT Executive Kaz Hayashi promised to do his utmost no matter how small his contribution to the UJPW may be.
The meeting ended with a seminar held by a Japanese sports agency about the role of governing organizations in the sports world. One of the topics touched upon was how UJPW can collaborate with government agencies.
