DDT Extreme Championship – DDT EXTREME級選手権

The DDT Extreme Championship is DDT’s secondary singles championship. It was also briefly used as the main championship for Union Pro from 2011 to 2012. What makes this belt different from the other titles in DDT and its sub-brands is that the champion always gets to decide what kind of match the belt will be defended in. The stipulations vary from serious to comedy depending on who the champion is at the time. The belt has been defended in Hardcore matches, Cage matches, Table matches and TLC matches in the past. It has also been defended in unique matches specially created by the champion to play to their strengths and/or to expose the challenger’s weaknesses. Depending on who the champion is at the time, this championship can be treated as a hardcore title, a comedy title, a serious wrestling title or even an experimental title. Sanshiro Takagi created the championship and awarded it to MIKAMI in November 2006 after MIKAMI defeated him in a No DQ Match. The championship’s name was inspired by Tommy Dreamer because his vision of “Extreme” was to push himself to the limit for any challenge that was put in front of him.
