Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Championship

Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Championship – インディペンデント・ワールド・ジュニアヘビー級王座

The timeline for the Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Championship is splintered but can be traced back to FMW and Michinoku Pro. The original Independent Jr. Title was created in 1993 and the first champion was crowned after both companies chose representatives for a match between each other. It was renamed the FMW Jr. Heavyweight Championship when FMW established their own championships in August 1998. The belt was dissociated from FMW in May 1999 and reverted back into the Independent Jr. Title after negotiations took place with Battlarts. It is here where the history for the current version of the championship begins. The title was sealed in 2002 when FMW closed down. TAKA Michinoku ended up getting possession of the physical belt and was convinced by Kota Ibushi to revive the championship in 2007. Since then it has bounced around the Japanese indies from promotion to promotion appearing on events of all sizes big and small.
