IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title: Low Ki defeated Kota Ibushi (c) with the Avalanche Ki Krusher (17:05).
*Kota Ibushi fails in V3. Low Ki becomes the 65th IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion!

Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi both lost their title matches in the space of 24 hours at the beginning of the week. Omega went to All Japan to challenge for the AJPW Jr. Title held by Hiroshi Yamato and all he left with was a broken ear drum and some stitches. Meanwhile Kota Ibushi lost the IWGP Jr. Title to Low Ki over in New Japan, marking his second title loss in two weeks.

Here we have a multi-promotional tag match between DDT and Wrestling New Classic against All Japan and ZABUN (a WAVE affiliated brand). This is a kind of match that I like to call Fire Pro Wrestling match making.

Daisuke Sasaki has been entered into a tournament to crown New Japan’s newest champion. The NEVER Openweight Title is the prize everyone will be fighting for and Sasaki will face 8 year veteran Tomohiro Ishii in the first round on 15th November in Tokyo SHIBUYA-AX. Is Sasaki defeats Ishii he will face YOSHI-YASHI or Ryuichi Sekine in the next round four days later.

2. Rock-Paper-Scissors Death Match: Isami Kodaka defeated Masa Takanashi with the Diving Double Knee Drop (13:58).
3. Boxing Rules: Kota Ibushi defeated Gota Ihashi by KO with a Straight Right (4R 2:43).
4. Hikaru Sato & Hiroshi Yamato defeated Kenny Omega & Michael Nakazawa when Yamato pinned Nakazawa with the Cross Arm Suplex (16:38).
Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title: Gota Ihashi defeated Hiroshi Fukuda (c) with a Corkscrew Uppercut (9:23 pm).
*Gota Ihashi becomes the 943rd champion.

Hiroshi Yamato got to experience first hand just how perverted Michael Nakazawa, Hikaru Sato and even Kenny Omega can be. The main event saw the usual Do Hentai Dan tactics come into play. Sato got Yamato to join in and spit the lotion into Nakazawa’s face. Yamato avoided Nakazawa’s Venom Maker and won the match with a Cross Arm Suplex. Afterwards Nakazawa apologised to Omega for losing the match. Kenny joked that he still blames Michael and that he has no luck going into Budokan Hall. Michael wished Kenny luck and was joined by the Ice Ribbon girls to tell Kenny to do his best.

Tanomusaku Toba was the referee for the Boxing Rules match. Kota Ibushi and Gota Ihashi fought so hard it wound up outside the arena. Ibushi got so into the match that when he knocked Ihashi into the corner and would not relent, Toba put on his own gloves and threw punches at Ibushi. Toba then sided with Ihashi and they both tried to KO Ibushi. The KO-D Champion was able to knock down Toba and give Ihashi a German Suplex. He then knocked him out for a 10 count with a Straight Right punch. After the match all three men reconciled and raised each other’s hands.

Weapons used during the Rock-Paper-Scissors Death Match included a plastic mallet, a metal can, a “steel” bear trap, a steaming hot bowl of dumplings, the Ice Ribbon girls and a bottle of sake. Every time a weapon was introduced, Isami Kodaka and Masa Takanashi played Rock-Paper-Scissors with the winner getting one free use of the weapon on the loser. The loser was provided with a Gundam helmet to protect himself, if he could put it on in time.

Game Over For Omega’s Title Run

AJPW, 27/05/2012
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

AJPW World Jr. Heavyweight Title: KAI defeated Kenny Omega (c) with the Splash Plancha (20:50).
*Kenny Omega fails in V6. KAI becomes the 32nd AJPW World Jr. Heavyweight Champion!

Kenny Omega’s reign of terror (or cool if you are on his side) in All Japan’s Jr. Heavyweight division has come to an end. His title run was finally put to an end by KAI in what was Kenny’s sixth defence of the belt. KAI’s rivalry with Omega in All Japan has spread into a small feud with DDT itself after KAI commented that DDT wrestlers are not proper pro wrestlers. But now that he brought the belt back to All Japan on the main event of their show in Korakuen Hall today, he may consider the matter settled and move onto new challenges. As for Omega, who knows what else he has planned for Japan in the near future.

AJPW World Jr. Heavyweight Title: Kenny Omega (c) defeated Shuji Kondo with the One Winged Angel (21:01).
*V4 for Kenny Omega.

Another All Japan Jr. Heavyweight bites the dust in the company’s attempt to unseat Kenny Omega as their champion. This time it was Shuji Kondo that stepped up to the plate only to fall to the One Winged Angel. After the match KAI came out to challenge Omega to a title match. Kenny extended his hand for a handshake only to smack KAI over the head with the title belt. He then threw insults at KAI, calling him a fool who was not a hero to the All Japan fans. Omega could next defend the AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Title back home in DDT on April 1st when he faces Shigehiro Irie in a singles match. That is of course if Irie drops enough weight to qualify as a Jr. Heavyweight.

A few days before Sanshiro Takagi & Takao Soma were supposed to defend their KO-D Tag Team Title in DDT, they go over to STYLE-E to defend the belts against Masato Shibata & Shota. Although the challengers got some momentum during the match, the match ended with Takagi giving Shota a Spiccoli Driver and then handing him over to Soma for a Go 2 Sleep and finally the Boma Ye to win the match.

7. KO-D Tag Team Title: Sanshiro Takagi & Takao Soma (c) Vs Danshoku Dino & KUDO

The little stunt pulled by Sanshiro Takagi & Takao Soma yesterday is not going over well with the DDT General Manager. Takagi & Soma, who have clearly been watching one too many CM Punk videos, are currently rebelling against the establishment so they can make DDT more interesting. In this case, the establishment is Tsurumi Amon and only Tsurumi Amon. After winning the KO-D Tag Team Titles on Sunday, the new champions quickly had their first title defence at a GUTS World event a few hours later. Takagi explains that he wants to promote DDT and defending the KO-D Tag Title in other promotions helps his cause. Amon is pissed off at Takagi for constantly ignoring his decisions and making title matches without his permission. Takagi has also promised to have a KO-D Tag Title match in STYLE-E on 17th March. Amon is already sending the big guns after the champs to get the belts back as soon as possible. Homoiro Clover Z teammates Danshoku Dino and KUDO will team up and face Takagi & Soma in the main event of next week’s show in Hakata Star Lanes.

Shigehiro Irie has been granted a shot at the AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Title but only on the condition that he weighs under 105kg on the day of the show. 105kg is the weight limit for Jr. Heavyweight wrestlers in All Japan.

Also appearing on the show is the debut of Tetsuya Endo and Finnish wrestler Nico Valentine, who previously wrestled in Japan for SMASH. DDT will also be hosting a Strategy Presentation for its plans throughout the rest of 2012.

Omega, Nakazawa & Sato Enter AJPW Tag League

March 11, 2012

Kenny Omega and Michael Nakazawa will be competing in their first tournament together as a tag team when All Japan Pro Wrestling holds the 2012 Junior Tag League next month. Omega & Nakazawa will be one of six teams competing in the round robin and will certainly be targeted by everyone else. Kenny has been constantly rubbing the All Japan roster the wrong way with his cocky behaviour while holding the AJPW Jr. Heayweight Championship. Meanwhile Nakazawa has been acting the nuisance towards Kenny’s challengers, doing what he can to disrupt their momentum in the lead up to fighting Omega.

Hikaru Sato will also be competing in the tournament teaming with All Japan native Hiroshi Yamato. Nakazawa and Sato recently reformed their Do Hentai Dan tag team in DDT but they have gone on separate journeys in All Japan. Who knows what will happen when they inevitably cross paths in the Tag League. The tournament will take place from 1st April to 14th April with the match list revealed once the final teams are announced.

AJPW World Jr. Heavyweight Title: Kenny Omega (c) defeated Kaz Hayashi with the One-Winged Angel (21:55).
*V3 for Kenny Omega.

Kenny Omega scored another career defining victory over one of the best Jr. Heavyweight wrestlers in the world today in All Japan Pro Wrestling. Omega made his third defence of the AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Title by defeating former champion Kaz Hayashi in the semi-main event of today’s show in Korakuen Hall. Hayashi has one of the more outstanding title reigns in puroresu with his most recent title run lasting 17 defences. However, Omega was not intimidated and was more concerned with living up to his claims of being the “cool champion” All Japan needs right now. The One-Winged Angel crushed Hayashi’s chance of winning back the title and Kenny celebrated his win with his cornerman Michael Nakazawa.

After the match, Kenny was confronted by two other AJPW wrestlers KAI and Shuji Kondo. Both of them appealed for title shots. Omega refused KAI on the basis that he defeated him twice already this year, the second time for the title itself. Before Kenny could respond to Shuji’s challenge, Nakazawa blindsided KAI with a chairshot. Omega then said he wanted his next title defence to take place in DDT and left it at that.

When interviewed backstage, Kenny said it was tough to be on the same level as Hayashi but he is now above him and has nothing left to prove. However, he still wants to earn the big money he gets by being the champion. Plus he cherishes his friends and family, friends like Nakazawa. His immediate plans are to now go home so he can eat curry and chocolate croissants.

AJPW World Jr. Heavyweight Title: Kenny Omega (c) Vs Kaz Hayashi

Kenny Omega has a big name in place for his third defence of the AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Title next month. In fact it is the man who holds the most successful Jr. Title reign in All Japan history, Kaz Hayashi! Both champion and challenger met at a press conference where the match was announced for the 2nd February event in Korakuen Hall. Omega was accompanied by Michael Nakazawa but was able to spend a lot of time speaking in Japanese by himself. Kenny explained that Nakazawa was there to make sure no one was taking advantage of him as champion and to protect him from any unprofessional behaviour by the All Japan wrestlers. Kenny also tried to rile up Hayashi by saying the people in charge of All Japan love him because he is a “cool champion”. So much so that Kenny believes they secretly want him to beat Kaz.

“Everybody wants a cool champion,” says Kenny. “Let’s just look at the matches in general. Everyone has to agree that my matches… are always, ALWAYS, not sometimes, the best match not just in All Japan. These are the best Junior matches in all of Japan.”

Some big claims by Omega and he’s ready to back them up when he faces Hayashi next month.

6. KO-D Openweight Title: KUDO (c) defeated HARASHIMA with the Diving Double Knee Drop (26:01).
*V4 for KUDO.

The DDT 15th Anniversary show at Nippon Budokan is set for 18th August, 2012. Back at “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2011”, Sanshiro Takagi sent out a challenge to Minoru Suzuki for a match at the Budokan. We’ll see if the match goes ahead.

MIKAMI has emerged as the next challenger for the KO-D Openweight Title. He called KUDO a worthy champion but also said he was not creative enough to lead DDT into its 15th Anniversary. KUDO Vs MIKAMI will take place in DDT’s New Year’s Eve show at Korakuen Hall.

After Kenny Omega successfully chalked his first defence of the AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Title, he told the fans he is unsure if he could ever defend the belt in DDT again. He thanked the fans for their support. Omega won the match with the One Winged Angel, which was described as a Piggy Back Michinoku Driver.

The Homoiro Clover Z Audition was a 10 minute Battle Royal with the participants needing to dance whenever a Momoiro Clover Z song began playing in the background or else they would be eliminated. When the time limit expired, Danshoku Dino & Makoto Oishi had to choose from all the participants who survived the Battle Royal. They chose Akito, Hiroshi Fukuda, Hikari Minami & Gran Hamada and named their group Homoiro Clover Z Green. Dino & Makoto will now use the name Homoiro Clover Z Black. They have also been given a KO-D Tag Team Title shot against Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie on 11th December.

Yuji Hino was revealed to be the latest ally of Let’s Go 30’s. Hino & Yasu Urano have decided to form a team called Crying Wolf and they will challenge for the KO-D Tag Team Titles at DDT’s 31/12 Korakuen Hall event.

5. AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Title: Kenny Omega (c) Vs Minoru Tanaka
6. KO-D Openweight Title: KUDO (c) Vs HARASHIMA

This will be one of the more major Korakuen Hall shows DDT will produce this year. A double main event sees KUDO defend the KO-D Title against HARASHIMA in a battle between two of DDT’s most established wrestlers while Kenny Omega sets his first defence of the AJPW Jr. Championship against the Jr. Heavyweight superstar Minoru Tanaka. Meanwhile Danshoku Dino & Makoto Oishi go on the hunt for a new member of the Homoiro Clover Z stable. Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie defend the KO-D Tag Titles against the veteran duo of Poison JULIE Sawada & Gorgeous Matsuno, which will still take place despite Matsuno’s health and fitness being under question. But the biggest news will be Sanshiro Takagi announcing the date for DDT’s 15th Anniversary show to be held in Nippon Budokan.

Antonio Honda gave a hint towards the mystery fourth wrestler in the Let’s Go 30’s team. Honda said the wrestler is a “Crying Wolf”, referencing “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” children’s tale.

1. Rock ‘N’ Roll Death Match: A. YAZAWA & Ken Ohka Vs Michael Nakazawa & Batten Tamagawa

The Rock ‘N’ Roll Death Match previously took place during the Union day of “BEER FIGHT 2011” week. At times the match will be interrupted by music. Depending on the song being played, every wrestler in the match has to stop wrestling and either dance or drink alcohol until the music stops.

Also scheduled to show up are Hikaru Sato, Daisuke Sasaki, DJ Nira and Freelance Team Oita wrestler Azul Dragon.

DDT and Union have announced a bunch of new events taking place in early 2012. The next couple of months will be very busy as there will be at least one DDT or Union show every week from December until March with shows taking place in Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka, Chiba and Nagoya.
