New Beijing Return Details

January 8, 2011

New Beijing Pro Wrestling announced some details for their 11th February revival event at Shin-Kiba 1st RING. Rather than just having a normal show, the event will tell several short stories under the guise of wrestling matches. Names announced to appear at the show in some form are Choun-Shiryu, Giant Boshoku, Dragon Achoooo!, Cao Zhang, Princess Makoto, The Emperor and Young Master Go Toe. Three of the stories will be about a battle over an ancient artifact that has been passed down from Chinese royalty for generations, an outbreak of opium war between the Chinese and the British, and Chinese movie celebrity Dragon Achoooo’s search for the next big star.

To celebrate this occassion, a roster page for New Beijing has been added to this site.

However, in 2009 Minoru’s French cousin Minoru Polnareff had a match in DDT during the very European feud between the Italian 4 Horsemen and the French side led by Louie Takanashi 14th. Polnareff accidentaly got a face full of Death Cake and he has not been seen in public since.

Golden Lovers & Dino Return To NJPW

January 5, 2011

NJPW/CMLL “NJPW PRESENTS CMLL FANTASTICA MANIA 2011”, 1/23/11
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Danshoku Dino & Maximo Vs Jado & Gedo
6. Double Main Event II – IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Title: Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega (c) Vs Prince Devitt & Ryusuke Taguchi

DDT will have three wrestlers sent over to New Japan for the company’s co-promoted shows with Mexico’s CMLL. Kota Ibushi, Kenny Omega and Danshoku Dino will appear on Night 2 of “FANTASTICA MANIA 2011” in Korakuen Hall.

Can the Golden Lovers make it three for three over Apollo 55? With the IWGP Jr. Tag Title victory taking place in New Japan and victory in the rematch over at DDT, Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega will face Prince Devitt & Ryusuke Taguchi for the belts one more time. Both teams are usually really over with the Korakuen fans, so expect a really hot crowd for this match.

The idea of Danshoku Dino and Maximo teaming together is not that odd now that I think of it. I mean, if Maximo can handle teaming with Mr. Niebla then hanging out with Dino should be no problem for the exotico. Plus Dino will be reunited with Jado, who he had a wonderful time with at the 2009 Super J Cup. Gedo might be pissed off with Dino for using his patented move the Gedo Clutch and renaming it the Gay-do Clutch. But then again Gedo is always pissed off, so never mind that.

DDT and CMLL do have a previous connection. The KO-D Tag Team Championship was originally created in CMLL where Takashi Sasaki & NOSAWA became the first champions. To this day DDT still includes “CMLL” in their title’s name even though they haven’t been defended in the Lucha Libre promotion ever since.

Ibushi Fails To Dethrone The Prince

January 4, 2011

NJPW “WRESTLE KINGDOM V IN TOKYO DOME”, 4/1/11
Tokyo Dome
42,000 Fans – No Vacancy

0. World Wrestling Invitation Match: Koji Kanemoto & Ryusuke Taguchi defeated Kenny Omega & Taichi when Taguchi pinned Taichi (8:04).
6. IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title: Prince Devitt (c) defeated Kota Ibushi with the Avalanche Bloody Sunday (16:22).
*V4 for Devitt.

Kota Ibushi and Kenny Omega both came out in the losing end of New Japan’s biggest show of the year. Early word for Ibushi Vs Prince Devitt has it being a very exciting match with a hot crowd. Both Ibushi & Omega have now failed to win the IWGP Jr. Title from Devitt, but they can be happy with the fact that they are still the IWGP Jr. Tag Team Champions.

In other news, former DDT referee Megumi Grace Asano stepped out of retirement for one night only on New Year’s Eve to officiate the final match in NEO history as the promotion unfortunately closed its doors for good.

I’ve done a little updating to the Rosters page and the Title History. The Union page now includes wrestlers who appear on a regular basis but are not under contract to either DDT or Union. Plus I will include all of the members of the TKG48 as they are revealed, even if it becomes a one time only kind of thing. The Title History for the KO-D Tag Team Championships will be added soon. I just need to figure out how many title defences both the Nuru Nuru Brothers and Sanshiro Takagi & Munenori Sawa had during their respective reigns.

One more thing, a more in depth report on  “NEVER MIND 2010” is now uploaded. It includes a very detailed run through of the Danshoku Dino Vs Makoto Oishi match, which turned out to be one of the crazier matches DDT has had in a while. Seriously, the stuff I typed really did happen.

Union In Korakuen Hall Results

January 3, 2011

Union, 03/01/11
Tokyo Korakuen Hall
1,955 Fans
– Super No Vacancy Full House

1. Shigehiro Irie & Ryuji Ito defeated Seiya Morohashi & Hiro Tsumaki when Ito pinned Tsumaki with the Dragon Splash (12:49).
2. Cherry, Hiroyo Matsumoto & Misaki Ohata defeated Black Cherry #1, Black Cherry #2 & Black Cherry #3 when Cherry pinned Black Cherry #2 with the Spring Night Love (12:49).
3. DDT Extreme Title – Captain’s Fall Six Man Tag: Isami Kodaka (c), Yano K Data & Survival Tobita defeated Kim Nun Pun (c), Chou-un Shiryu & Cao Zhang (with Princess Makoto) when Kodaka pinned Pun with the Diving Double Knee Drop (7:23).
*Kim Nun Pun fails in V1. Isamai Kodaka becomes the 15th DDT Extreme Champion.
4. Bread Eating Deathmatch: Tsuyoshi Kikuchi (2.5) defeated Ken Ohka (1.5).
5. Shinichiro Tominaga Debut Match: El Generico defeated Shinichiro Tominaga with the Brainbustaaaaahhhhh!!!!! (16:11).
6. Sanshiro Takagi & Munenori Sawa defeated Kengo Ohka & Madoka when Takagi pinned Madoka with the SHB (19:43).
7. Manabu Nakanishi defeated Shuji Ishikawa with the Hercules Cutter (13:40).

It’s a new year and a new spring of life for Union. 2011 looks to be very good for DDT’s sleazier step-brother as the brand plans to be lot more active in the next 12 months. Union ace, Shuji Ishikawa put up a strong effort to Manabu Nakanishi of New Japan, but the strongman’s “Muscle Orchestra” was just too loud for Shuji to overcome. Manabu did give Shuji plenty of praise after the match though.

The TKG48 was victorious over Union once again with Sanshiro Takagi & Munenori Sawa defeating Kengo Mashimo & Madoka. However, Yoshiaki Yago appeared after the match to join forces with Union. He has formed his own unit to battle with his arch enemy Takagi. For now the unit is called the Revolutionary Armed Forces and their first battle with TKG48 will be a 6-Man Tag at Shinjuku FACE on 3rd February.

El Generico made his first appearance for Union, mask and all. He defeated the debuting Shinichiro Tominaga with the always deadly Corner Brainbuster. Tominaga’s next opponent was confirmed to be Tigers Mask from Osaka Pro.

After six long months of recovery, Ken Ohka promised to eat lots of bread to grow strong. So he had a Bread Eating Deathmatch with Tsuyoshi Kikuchi with the winner being whoever ate most of the bread that was hanging above the ring. Kikuchi had a nice glass of milk to wash down all the bread he ate after he won.

Isami Kodaka won the DDT Extreme Championship in the Captain’s Fall Six Man Tag. Kim Nun Pun’s reign was cut short by Isami’s Diving Double Knee Drop. No word on any monster sightings while Survival Tobita was in the ring.

Two other matches were announced for February 3rd. Shuji Ishikawa and Tsuyoshi Kikuchi will pair off against each other while Ken Ohka will take on Canada’s “First Lady of Hardcore”, LuFisto!

Ryuji Ito was introduced as another member of the TKG48. So far, all of the members of TKG48 that we know of are Sanshiro Takagi, Shigehiro Irie, Munenori Sawa, Tsuyoshi Kikuchi, Ryuji Ito and DJ Nira.
