TKG Rogue Army, KGB48, Japan Vs Mexico? Twitter War!

December 14, 2011

DDT “NEVER MIND 2011”, 31/12/2011
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Runner Vs Runner: Tomomitsu Matsunaga Vs Kazuki Hirata
2. TKG Rogue Army Vs Homoiro Clover Z: X & X Vs X & X
3. Kenny Omega & DJ Nira Vs Masa Takanashi & Daisuke Sasaki
4. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie (c) Vs Yasu Urano & Yuji Hino
5. KO-D Openweight Title: KUDO (c) Vs MIKAMI

We’re going to need a flowchart for this one. Sanshiro Takagi has created a splinter group from the now obsolete TKG48 called the TKG Rogue Army. So far himself and Tsuyoshi Kikuchi are members of the group and they want to face wrestlers from around the world. Yoshiaki Yago & KENSO are already confirmed to face them Korakuen Hall for the Union 3rd January event. Takagi & KENSO have a bad history together. In 2006 the two fought in a No Rope Exploding Barbed-Wire match which KENSO won. Takagi described his defeat to the previously known Kenso Suzuki as a catastrophe. However, KENSO is not the only thing Takagi (and us too) has to worry about…

Russian wrestlers Ivan Markov & Bonnie from the IWF approached Takagi during a video message taped for DDT’s UStream channel. They told Takagi about Russia’s premier Wrestling Idol group, the KGB48. Furthermore, they revealed that they and their agent Vladamir Nagai were very important members of the faction. Takagi told them that he knows many wrestling groups from around the world and that together they will all form an “Allied Bukkake” and declare war on Homoiro Clover Z. The first match between the two groups will take place on New Year’s Eve.

UNION “1…2…3…UNION!”, 03/01/2012
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Loser Must Follow Winner On Twitter: Hiroshi Fukuda (w/ Rumi Kazama) Vs RG
2. Cherry Vs Ayumi Kurihara
3. American Mixed Tag Team Titles: NOSAWA Rongai & Io Shirai (c) Vs Ken Ohka & Mio Shirai
4. Sanshiro Takagi & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi Vs KENSO & Yoshiaki Yago
5. DDT Extreme Title: El Generico (c) Vs Isami Kodaka

The rocky relationship between Ken Ohka & Mio Shirai is starting to pay off. They have been granted a championship match for Korakuen Hall next month. It turns out their opponents will be NOSAWA Rongai and Io Shirai, Mio’s sister. While Mio and Io have probably had more wrestling matches against each other than they’ve had hot meals, Mio isn’t exactly thrilled with the idea of Ohka being in the ring with her sister. But that’s more because of the risk that Ohka will get his ass kicked rather than Ohka finding a way to take advantage of Io. However, Ohka has no such perverted thoughts and is seeing this as his best chance to become a champion again. With the Union/IWF relationship creating a Japan Vs Russia atmosphere, Ohka somehows sees this match as Japan Vs Mexico due to NOSAWA & Io’s frequent trips to the country.

The stipulation for Hiroshi Fukuda Vs RG has been decided. The loser of the match must follow the winner’s Twitter account. Fukuda is now encouraging his fans to stop communicating with RG on Twitter and instead retweet his own messages. There is still a very large gap in the amount of followers both wrestlers get (42,779 Vs 565 as of this post), but Fukuda is confident he will be the David against RG’s Goliath. He is counting on each and every one of his 565 followers to give him the power to defeat RG once the match takes place.

TKG48 Dissolved

November 24, 2011

On the night when Sanshiro Takagi failed to defeat El Generico for the DDT Extreme Championship, the TKG48 leader held a press conference after the event to announce the end to his super group. He hoped that the TKG48 would change the face of Union and the rest of the wrestling world, but the defeat to El Generico made him realise that wasn’t the case. Takagi is still dreaming up plans for the future. On such idea is to create an entirely new brand under the DDT umbrella. But before he could get any further with his thoughts, TKG48 Member #6 Tsuyoshi Kikuchi interrupted the conference. Kikuchi was not happy to hear that the TKG48 was splitting up and he told Takagi he was keeping the TKG48 T-Shirt he was wearing at the time. He challenged Takagi to a match for the 14/12 Union show at Shinjuku FACE.

Takagi formed the TKG48 just under a year ago when he moved as a full time wrestler from DDT to Union. He was inspired by the pop group AKB48 and wanted to create something similar for pro wrestling, a group filled with a mixture of famous names like Genichiro Tenryu and TAKA Michinoku, current stars like Munenori Sawa and Atsushi Aoki, and fresh faced talents like Shigehiro Irie and Takao Soma. The TKG48 caused a number of headaches for the Union Sekigun while also clashing with the SS Susan, a group originally formed by Yoshiaki Yago to fight Takagi’s creation. Takagi, Sawa & Irie all brought in Tag Team gold at one point or another. But the group also suffered some big defeats, such as Takagi losing to Shuji Ishikawa in a Korakuen Hall main event and the failure to sign Jun Akiyama to the group. The group was also active in Freedoms where Takagi went into battle with the Great Kojika and his army of misfits on numerous occasions.

Lumberjack Death Match, Kikutaro Returns, Honda & Urano Join Forces

5. Yasu Urano Vs Shuji Ishikawa
6. Lumberjack Death Match: Danshoku Dino & Makoto Oishi Vs Sanshiro Takagi & Takao Soma
7. KO-D Openweight Title: KUDO (c) Vs Hikaru Sato

A mini tournament to determine who challenges the KO-D Openweight Champion at Osaka in November will also take place here.

Some taunting has been going back and forth between Homoiro Clover Z and the TKG48. This has led to the Danshoku Dino & Makoto Oishi Vs Sanshiro Takagi & Takao Soma tag team match being turned into a Lumberjack Death Match. So far DJ Nira, Ken Ohka, Shigehiro Irie, Kazuki Hirata and Hiroshi Fukuda have been announced as the lumberjacks, with more to come.

Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium #2

1. 3 Way: Kikutaro Vs Kushinbo Kamen Vs Gorgeous Matsuno
2. KO-D Openweight Title: KUDO or Hikaru Sato (c) Vs Winner Of 23/10 Tournament

Gorgeous Matsuno finds himself in the ring with two of the most dangerous wrestlers in Japan. Oh wait… Scratch that, he’ll be in the ring with Kikutaro and Kushinbo Kamen. However, Matsuno is always at risk while he carries the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title over his shoulder. That is if he is still champion by the time this show takes place.

Shigehiro Irie will also take part in this show along with Kyairyuuken-ecchan from Shi-en Pro Wrestling aswell as Osaka freelancers Hideki Shiota and Shoichi Uchida.

In other news, Antonio Honda & Yasu Urano have decided to form a new faction together after they had a successful go as a team at “NON-FIX 10.5” earlier this week. They declared their goal was to become the KO-D Tag Team Champions. I’m curious to see if Poison JULIE Sawada will join them, as Sawada has been teaming with Honda ever since his return from injury and gimmick makeover.

UNION “BEER FIGHT 2011” Card, New DDT Matches

2. Rock & Roll Deathmatch: Big Morohashi Vs A.YAZAWA Vs Hiroya Fukuda
3. Ken Ohka Vs Taichi
4. Shuji Ishikawa Vs Cherry
5. DDT Extreme Title: Isami Kodaka (c) Vs Sexxxy Eddy

Apparently Isami Kodaka wanted to defend the DDT Extreme Title against Cherry in a Sexy Diva Deathmatch but the idea was quickly shot down by Naomi Susan. Instead Kodaka will defend the belt against Canadian sensation (the kind you should have checked by your doctor), Sexxxy Eddy! Doesn’t explain why poor little Cherry now has to fight Shuji Ishikawa. Unless it’s an excuse to dress Shuji up in joshi gear again (*shudders).

Ken Ohka has laid out a challenge to Taichi of New Japan for the show. Ken has promised to unleash his full fighting spirit against Taichi.

Takao Soma is the newest member of the TKG48. His membership number is #38. This will be his first match as part of the group when it battles against their arch rivals the Susan Guard once more.

5. KO-D Tag Team Titles: GENTARO & Yasu Urano (c) Vs Shigehiro Irie & Munenori Sawa
6. Dick Togo & HARASHIMA Vs Danshoku Dino & KUDO

The TKG48 duo of Shigehiro Irie and Munenori Sawa were chosen as the No. 1 Contenders for the KO-D Tag Team Titles. It’s a tough challenge ahead as GENTARO & Yasu Urano have been almost unstoppable this year. Sawa was absent for the press conference announcing the match, but Irie made up for it by starting a fight with the champions.

By winning the mini Royal Rumble at “KING OF DDT KYOTO”, Michael Nakazawa was supposed to win a prize from Tsurumi Amon. However, Tsurumi wasn’t convinced that Nakazawa earned it. Nakazawa will appeal the decision by facing Antonio Honda, the man he eliminated to win the Rumble, in a match at Shin-Kiba 1st RING.

3. Danshoku Dino, KUDO & Shiori Asahi Vs HARASHIMA, Kota Ibushi & Hikaru Sato
4. Sanshiro Takagi & Shigehiro Irie Vs Dick Togo & Yasu Urano

Danshoku Dino suffered his first defeat to one of Bob Sapp’s Assassins, losing to Gaylon Summers. A rematch is set at Hakata Star Lane but with a little twist. Bob Sapp will send one more Assassin to Korakuen Hall on 19/6 and the winner of Dino Vs Summers will get to fight the Assassin. Dino needs to defeat all of the Assassins if he wands to gets his hands on Bob Sapp but his dream match may disappear if he loses to Gaylon Summers again.

Some bad blood is flaring up again between Keisuke Ishii and Takao Soma. The two generational rivals will get to settle their differences in a singles match but the result could have consequences for both men in the lead up to Sumo Hall.

4. KO-D Openweight Title: Shuji Ishikawa (c) Vs GENTARO
5. KO-D Openweight Title: Shuji Ishikawa or GENTARO (c) Vs Takao Soma

On a final note, Ken Ohka was apparently caught spying on Mio Shirai today. When Mio caught Ken she choked him out in the middle of the street with a Headscissors. The two will be on opposing teams for their Union match at Shinjuku FACE this Thursday. Ohka has never really had the best of luck with women.

Shuji Ishikawa capped off a great day by defeating Sanshiro Takagi and giving Union a big victory over the TKG48. After the match Sanshiro Takagi said that he will retire at the DDT Sumo Hall show on 24th July. Shuji was shocked at the announcement until Sanshiro cracked up and gave Shuji a Stone Cold Stunner. He then grabbed the mic and said “Gotta lie, motherfucker!”

After a successful match together as a tag team, Kazunari Murakami gave a gift to Seiya Morohashi. He offered Seiya to take his nickname and become BIG Morohashi. Seiya has not decided if he will take it yet.

Cherry Vs Bambi was given high praise and was said to be a very competitive match.

MIKAMI will challenge Isami Kodaka for the DDT Extreme Championship at Shinjuku FACE on 2nd June.

El Generico will return to Union for the same show. Dick Togo & Yasu Urano Vs Seiya/BIG Morohashi & Hiro Tsumaki will also happen. Another big match to take place on the card is Tsuyoshi Kikuchi Vs Genichiro Tenryu!

TKG48 announced their latest recruit. Please welcome Member #17: Genichiro Tenryu! He will appear at the next Union show on 3rd April in Shinjuku FACE for a 6-Man Tag match. It will be Tenryu, Sanshiro Takagi & Shigehiro Irie Vs Shuji Ishikawa, Tsuyoshi Kikuchi & Hiro Tsumaki. Takagi allowed Union to rent Kikuchi from TKG48 for the match. There will be some DDT talent appearing at New Japan’s upcoming NEVER event on 24th February. Shigehiro Irie and Kazuki Hirata will be there along with KO-D Tag Team Champion and freelancer, Daisuke Sasaki. Also there will be Union regular and SS Susan member Madoka.

6. Taichi Vs Madoka

It’s only just today that I noticed that FREEDOMS often uses DDT talent for their shows. I shouldn’t be surprised by it as the promotion is run by Takashi Sasaki, who was a DDT wrestler from the company’s very first show until he got the deathmatch bug and joined Big Japan Wrestling somewhere between 2004 and 2005. I often forget when the company holds their shows so I’ll try to keep an eye on them from now on.

Sanshiro Takagi’s stable, the TKG48 entered the promotion in December and started a conflict with the Kojika Army. Last month a match between The Great Kojika & GENTARO against TKG48’s Tsuyoshi Kikuchi & Shigehiro Irie had to be constantly restarted because the matches kept on ending in Double DQs. This led to TKG48’s main guns of Takagi & Munenori Sawa coming in to fight Kojika & GENTARO on yesterday’s FREEDOMS show. The stakes were high as a stipulation was added where the wrestler who dropped the fall on the losing team would be banned from ever wrestling in FREEDOMS again. Takagi got the win with a Sanshiro Stunner on the Great Kojika, forcing the veteran out of the company.

Antonio Honda is also a regular participant in FREEDOMS shows and was part of the winning team on yesterday’s show, siding with the devious Brahman Brothers to defeat Ricky Fuji, Keita Yano and a third wrestler who has a name that no one among the puro fansites have been able to figure out yet. I forgot to mention this during the annual contract signings but Antonio Honda let his DDT contract run out a couple of years ago to become a freelancer. As you can see, this didn’t affect his relationship with DDT one bit as he is still a regular name for the company.

Union Card For March

February 6, 2011

UNION, 06/03/2011
Shin-Kiba 1st RING

1. Shinichiro Tominaga Vs Hikaru Sato
2. Shuji Ishikawa, Seiya Morohashi & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi Vs Yoshiaki Yago, Kengo Mashimo & Madoka
3. DDT Extreme Title: Isami Kodaka (c) Vs Cao Zhang (w/ Princess Makoto)

Tensions are building up in Union coming out of their recent show. The Union Sekigun now have to contend with two opposing groups, the TKG48 and the newly named SS Susan, who can also be referred to as the Susan Guard. The new threat consists of Yoshiaki Yago, Kengo Mashimo and Madoka who all claim that they were hired to be Naomi Susan’s bodyguards. Union and TKG48 seem to be willing to put aside their differences for the moment so they can take on a common enemy. Sanshiro Takagi has allowed Shuji Ishikawa and Seiya Morohashi to rent Tsuyoshi Kikuchi as their partner for the upcoming 6-Man Tag match against the SS Susan.

The biggest match coming out of Union’s next show will be Isami Kodaka’s first defence of the DDT Extreme Title. His opponent is Cao Zhang from New Beijing Pro Wrestling, who has been on a roll in Union ever since Choun-Shiryu brought him over to Japan. Part of their success comes in the seductive form of Princess Makoto who has distracted referees during their matches. Another part of their success is a giant mallet they use to whack their opponents with once the ref’s back in turned. What kind of match the title will be contested under is unknown right now but expect Makoto and the giant mallet to come into play whether they will be allowed to or not.

So far Shinichiro Tominaga has spent his time in Union taking on accomplished wrestlers such as El Generico, El Samurai and Tigers Mask. The trend continues when Tominaga will take on Hikaru Sato in what will be Sato’s first match in Union. The former KO-D Openweight Champion has been spending time in IGF and ZERO1 lately, the latter being where he and Munenori Sawa have formed a team called the SEX-MEN. Not sure if they come out to the 1990’s X-Men cartoon theme song but it would be another reason to like them if they did.
