Three Total Worlds, New Year’s Eve, Whose Anniversary Is It Anyway?

June 28, 2012

A press conference was held in Dropkick Bar today to announce a list of different shows taking place in Hakata Star Lanes on 16th December. Sanshiro Takagi was in attendence representing DDT along with Big Japan owner Eiji Tosaka and TAKA Michinoku of K-DOJO. Together they announced that on that day, Big Japan will host a show in the morning, DDT will hold a show in the afternoon and K-DOJO will put on a show in the evening. The series of shows will be held under the title of “Three Total Worlds”.

TAKA then invited K-DOJO wrestler Shiori Asahi into the room. TAKA said that this year will be Asahi’s 10th year in the wrestling business and that he should choose where the ring should be set up inside Hakata Star Lanes. Asahi suggested that they should set up two wrestling rings side by side. He believed that all three promotions are creative enough to come up with good ideas for matches involving two rings. TAKA then pointed out that this year will also be K-DOJO’s 10th Anniversary, which will make this show be even more special.

The talk soon turned to the annual New Year’s Eve show in Korakuen Hall. However, Takagi didn’t seem so eager to participate in this year’s event. He said that they have been doing the show for seven years straight and he has not been able to celebrate the holiday with his family ever since. Tosaka on the other hand said he is looking forward to doing it again. He also said it will be in time for either the 17th or 18th Anniversary of Big Japan. He couldn’t remember which one it was. It was also pointed out that this year is the 40th Anniversary of both New Japan and All Japan. Takagi then remembered that Korakuen Hall celebrated its 50th Anniversary this year too. And just when you think that was all there was to celebrate, Tosaka calculated that if you combine all of the participating promotions’ anniversaries, it adds up to 100 years. So it was decided that the New Year’s Eve show will be held to celebrate the combined 100 year Anniversary of Korakuen Hall and all of the participating promotions. If the double ring idea works in Hakata, they might repeat the concept in Korakuen.

*V3 for Sanshiro Takagi & Takao Soma.

Sanshiro Takagi sent a devastating message to Danshoku Dino by pinning the KO-D Champion with his own finishing move. With Takagi successfully defending his own KO-D Tag Team Title along with Takao Soma, he now looks forward to his shot at Dino’s KO-D Title on 1st April. To show his domination, Takagi stood over an unconcious Dino with both KO-D Openweight and Tag Team Title belts held in the air after the match.

Takashi Dai introduced himself after his debut match against Shigehiro Irie. Dai was born on 19th January, 1992. He is 180cm tall and weighs 95kg. He has previous training experience in judo and mixed martial arts.

Three prizes are on offer for the Anytime & Anywhere Contract Royal Rumble. There are two contracts hanging above the ring which allow the people holding them to challenge for the KO-D Openweight Title at any show from April to the 15th Anniversary event in August. It is up to the competitors to climb the ladder provided, grab the contract and get out of the ring with it in his possession to keep it. The winner of the Royal Rumble itself gets a KO-D Title shot on 4th May.

While his tag team partner is competing in the main event, Takao Soma will be teaming up with Genba Hirayanagi from Pro Wrestling NOAH to take on the Do Hentai Dan team of Hikaru Sato & Michael Nakazawa. Genba previously appeared in DDT back in 2009 with Akira Taue where they fought Nakazawa & Sanshiro Takagi in a match that featured Nakazawa stepping in a bear trap.

DDT will be holding their 2012 Strategy Presentation before the show. Members of the roster will also be available to exchange business cards with ticket holders after the show is over.

6. Keisuke Ishii Vs Masa Takanashi
7. KO-D Tag Team Title: Sanshiro Takagi & Takao Soma (c) Vs Danshoku Dino & KUDO

The little stunt pulled by Sanshiro Takagi & Takao Soma yesterday is not going over well with the DDT General Manager. Takagi & Soma, who have clearly been watching one too many CM Punk videos, are currently rebelling against the establishment so they can make DDT more interesting. In this case, the establishment is Tsurumi Amon and only Tsurumi Amon. After winning the KO-D Tag Team Titles on Sunday, the new champions quickly had their first title defence at a GUTS World event a few hours later. Takagi explains that he wants to promote DDT and defending the KO-D Tag Title in other promotions helps his cause. Amon is pissed off at Takagi for constantly ignoring his decisions and making title matches without his permission. Takagi has also promised to have a KO-D Tag Title match in STYLE-E on 17th March. Amon is already sending the big guns after the champs to get the belts back as soon as possible. Homoiro Clover Z teammates Danshoku Dino and KUDO will team up and face Takagi & Soma in the main event of next week’s show in Hakata Star Lanes.

Shigehiro Irie has been granted a shot at the AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Title but only on the condition that he weighs under 105kg on the day of the show. 105kg is the weight limit for Jr. Heavyweight wrestlers in All Japan.

Also appearing on the show is the debut of Tetsuya Endo and Finnish wrestler Nico Valentine, who previously wrestled in Japan for SMASH. DDT will also be hosting a Strategy Presentation for its plans throughout the rest of 2012.

White Day Gifts, Gota Ihashi Returns

5. KO-D Tag Team Title: Yasu Urano & Yuji Hino (c) Vs Sanshiro Takagi & Takao Soma
6. KO-D Openweight Title: Danshoku Dino (c) Vs Hikaru Sato

To celebrate the Japanese tradition of White Day, where men give gifts to women one month after St. Valentine’s Day, DDT will be holding a contest for its more handsome members of the roster. At the end of the show, all of the female fans leaving Korakuen Hall will receive candy made by the wrestlers themselves in return for their ticket stubs. A prize will be given to the wrestler who collects the most ticket stubs at the end of the contest.

Gota Ihashi makes his long delayed return to wrestling to face KUDO in the opening match. If the name sounds familiar, it is because Gota Ihashi origianlly began as a low card parody of Kota Ibushi. He is a chubby wrestler with only a couple years of experience but he is able to duplicate Ibushi’s Low Kick, Standing Moonsault combo. Ihashi suffered ligament damage to both of his knees in March 2010 and has been out of action ever since. However, he stayed under contract with DDT and became a chef for one of their restaurants. He is now finally cleared to enter the ring once again.

This will be the first time a death match will be held in Shinjuku FACE. Union had to got through a lot of negotiations with the building’s owners to allow the match to happen. They came to a compromise that only lighttubes will be used in the match and not the more extreme items Big Japan is associated with.

*V3 for Ishii & Irie.
6. Sanshiro Takagi, MIKAMI & Takao Soma defeated KUDO, HARASHIMA & Masa Takanashi when MIKAMI pinned Takanashi with the Deep “M” Impact (14:22).

MIKAMI continues his momentum with another tag team main event victory over KUDO. There is just one more skirmish left to take place between the two before they fight for the KO-D Openweight Title on New Year’s Eve. It will happen in Tsukaba, Ibaraki when KUDO & HARASHIMA face MIKAMI & Hikaru Sato on 23rd December.

Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie claim their third defence of the KO-D Tag Team Championships, finally bringing some stability over the titles that have been passed around like a hot potato the last six months. But on New Year’s Eve the champions will face their toughest challenge yet. The Crying Wolf pair of Yasu Urano & Yuji Hino will be their next opponents in Korakuen Hall.

The opening match had both Tomomitsu Matsunaga and Kazuki Hirata come out to the ring with a song called “Runner” as their entrance music, hence the Runner Vs Runner title. It then got confusing when Azul Dragon & DJ Nira came out to the same song for their match with Daisuke Sasaki & Rion Mizuki afterwards.

Isami said that the trial is the perfect challenge for him before his rematch with El Generico as he will take on the strongest wrestlers from both DDT and Union. KUDO senses that the entire Union brand is still frustrated over him beating Shuji Ishikawa to win the KO-D Title in Sumo Hall back in July.

Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Hiroshi Fukuda (w/ Rumi Kazama) Vs RG
2. DDT Extreme Title: El Generico (c) Vs Isami Kodaka

Hiroshi Fukuda announced that he will face TV personality and former HUSTLE wrestler RG at Union’s 3rd January Korakuen Hall event. Rumi Kazama used her connections to find a famous name for the young lion to fight so Fukuda would himself become famous for beating up a celebrity. Rumi ended up choosing RG because he has over 42,000 followers on Twitter. Fukuda said he believes the number of Twitter followers a person has is like the Power Levels in Dragon Ball Z, so by his logic RG must be very powerful. Fukuda meanwhile, only has 548 followers. It does not sound good for the rookie but there is hope for him yet. Fukuda has challenged RG to put his amount of followers on the line in a winner takes all battle! No word yet on whether or not RG has accepted the stipulation.

KENSO and Io Shirai will also take part in the show (and may God have mercy on all of us who watch KENSO’s match).
