10. Shinjuku Maximum Ground Budokai – Final: Yasu Urano defeated Isami Kodaka with the Tombstone Piledriver (28:39).

Inspired by Dragon Ball, Isami Kodaka put together his own Budokai tournament for his friends and colleagues. With no ropes needed for the early rounds there were plenty of Ring Out finishes. The final came down to Kodaka and Yasu Urano in a normal rules match with the ropes included. Urano also had Abdullah Kobayashi supporting him in his corner. The two fought for almost 30 minutes but in the end Kodaka came up short and fell to Urano’s Tombstone Piledriver. His prize for winning the tournament was some praise from Kodaka during the victory speech.

Daisuke Sekimoto was disappointed he was not in the tournament. He told Kodama if there is ever a chance for them to have a match then they should do it.

2a. 3 Way Rematch: Shigehiro Irie defeated Yukio Sakaguchi & DJ Nira when Irie submitted Nira with an Osaekomi (0:03).
2b. Another 3 Way Rematch: Shigehiro Irie defeated Yukio Sakaguchi & DJ Nira when Irie submitted Nira with a Hadakajime (5:04).
3. Keisuke Ishii & Soma Takao defeated Akito & MIKAMI when Takao pinned Akito with the Gin And Tonic (11:24).
4. Next KO-D Tag Team Title Challengers Match: KUDO & Masa Takanashi defeated Kota Ibushi & Daisuke Sasaki when KUDO pinned Sasaki with the Diving Double Knee Drop (14:26).
5. Sanshiro Takagi, Toru Owashi & Kazuki Hirata defeated Danshoku Dino, Makoto Oishi & Shunma Katsumata when Hirata pinned Katsumata with the Viagra Driver (5:57).
6. Isami Kodaka & FUMA defeated HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano when FUMA pinned Urano with the Sobat Kick (18:57).

The main event of today’s show was a DDT Vs Union crossover battle. HARASHIMA and Isami Kodaka got to test each other out before the big KO-D Openweight Title match at the end of the month. However it was FUMA and Yasu Urano who were involved with the finish. FUMA pinned Urano while Kodaka wiped out HARASHIMA with a Suicide Dive outside the ring. Kodaka complimented FUMA with a “Well done!” after the match. Kodaka then said he and FUMA are a much better team than Smile Squash because they are the UWA World Tag Team Champions. He thanked the fans for the 689 votes he got in the DDT Dramatic General Election that granted him his title shot.

KUDO & Masa Takanashi earned a KO-D Tag Team Title shot when they beat Kota Ibushi & Daisuke Sasaki. The title match will be in Sapporo on 12th October. The champions Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo watched the match from a corner of the venue and approached their next challengers. Takeshita said as the future of DDT he and Endo will not lose to Shuten-dōji. Instead they will use Shuten-dōji as a stepping stone. Endo said he will have raise a toast with protein when they win. Takanashi warned that they were making a big mistake. KUDO said he has won the KO-D Openweight and KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles as part of Shuten-dōji. He now cherishes the chance to win the KO-D Tag Team Titles.

Kazuki Hirata failed to appear with his teammates for the semi-main event. It was explained that Hirata is suffering from Magnum Syndrome and one of the side effects is being unable to enter ringside without his theme music. Danshoku Dino, Makoto Oishi & Shunma Katsumata took advantage and overwhelmed the remaining T2Hide wrestlers until “Tokyo GO!” was finally played. Hirata came to the rescue, fueled by his song. That was the deciding factor and T2Hide came out on top.

Soma Takao gained a lot of momentum for his upcoming DDT Extreme Title match against Akito. Takao pinned the champion in a tag team match and afterwards looked like he was going to steal his belt. Instead Takao placed it on Akito’s defeated body.

Shigehiro Irie did quick work to win the 3 Way Match. Very quick work actually. He submitted DJ Nira with a Chinlock before Yukio Sakaguchi could even enter the ring. Amon Tsurumi said felt the result was not a good way to commemorate Sakaguchi becoming fully affiliated with DDT so he ordered the match to restart. Irie then submitted Nira again even faster than the first time. The match restarted again and both Irie and Nira wrestled away from ringside with Sakaguchi chasing after them. They eventually returned on a pallet truck that was wheeled down to the ring. Nira hit Sakaguchi with the Rocket Punch and taunted him until Irie snuck up and submitted Nira one more time.

For their last match as a unit, Pigging promised to wrestle fair and square in the opening match. They then ambushed Happy Motel before the bell rang. The plan didn’t work and Michael Nakazawa was pinned by Konosuke Takeshita. After the match Gota Ihashi told Amon Tsurumi that they lost because the other team had great luck so Pigging will not disband. Tsurumi was against the idea but asked if Nakazawa and Tomomitsu Matsunaga really wanted the unit to continue. Matsunaga laughed and said he it was a good unit apart from everybody in it. They all agreed to disband Pigging.

The Smile Squash produced Korakuen Hall show on 12th November will be called “I WANT TO SEE THE SMILES OF EVERYONE”. One of the matches planned is involves Tomomitsu Matsunaga taking up his DDT Sumo King role again.

ddtelection-2014

The results of this year’s DDT Dramatic General Election was announced to a full Shinjuku FACE crowd of 520 fans. Samurai! TV cameras followed the briefcase as it made its journey towards Shinjuku. Smile Squash won the Unit Election, narrowly beating Shuten-dōji by 9 votes. Team Drift weren’t that far behind either. Nira Federation, the one man unit led by DJ Nira somehow got more votes than Nira did in the singles portion of the election.

Kota Ibushi wins the DDT Election for the second time and he is now guaranteed a KO-D Title shot at Saitama Super Arena next year. Ibushi felt happy that the fans are not sick of seeing him because of his dual contract with DDT and New Japan. When asked what he will do with the cash prize, Ibushi simply said “Yamanote Line Wrestling”. He wants to travel through an entire loop of the Yamanote Line and wrestle somebody at every stop. Sanshiro Takagi said afterwards he’ll talk to Japan Railway about it.

Isami Kodaka finished in 2nd place, losing out to Ibushi by just 4 votes! It was the closest result ever for the contest and a much needed one since most of them have been won by landslides. Despite that, Kodaka still gets a KO-D Title shot later this month and some cash as a reward. HARASHIMA finished 3rd and said he’s looking forward to the Kodaka match. Kodaka said the same but promises he will crush HARASHIMA.

Yukio Sakaguchi now wants to finish his career wrestling for DDT so he will now be affiliated with the company.

The new King Of DDT is not from DDT at all. After a strong singles run in Big Japan, Union’s very own Isami Kodaka has now scored success in DDT and will be one half of the main event at “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2014”. Kodaka earned that spot by beating two of DDT’s most decorated wrestlers. In the semi-finals of the tournament KUDO defeated Shigehiro Irie and Kodaka beat Kota Ibushi. The latter match featured a crazy moment where both Kodaka and Ibushi fought each other on top of the entrance gate. In the final Kodaka attempted to use El Generico’s Brainbustaaaaahhhhh!!!!! but KUDO escaped. Kodaka then tried the European Clutch he used to beat Ibushi but that also did not work. KUDO fought back with Spin Kicks and High Kicks but Kodaka countered it into a Brainbuster and finally won with the Zan Isamu Leg. Kodaka dedicated the win to Union and will go on to face the KO-D Openweight Champion.

omega-harashima

But who the champion will be on 17th August is the question. HARASHIMA found out who his next challenger is before Kodaka and also came close to losing the title at the same time. Kenny Omega pinned Yasu Urano in the 3 Way Tag Match to win his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract. Kenny said he wants to be in the main event at Sumo Hall and the only way he can do that is to win the championship from HARASHIMA. Kenny then challenged HARASHIMA to a title match at the final Korakuen Hall show before Sumo Hall on 20th July. And then Super Sasadango Machine’s music started playing…

sasadango-powerpoint

sasadango-riemann-shock

Sasadango came out with the other remaining Right To Challenge Contract and said he wanted to be the KO-D Champion. He spent the past few months researching what it would take for him to become champion. He then showed a PowerPoint presentation of his research. He concluded that he needed a powerful special move in order to win so he came up with what he calls the Vertical Drop Lehman Shock (imagine Prince Devitt’s Bloody Sunday but without hooking the arm). According to Sasadango, hitting the Lehman Shock three times is all he needs to deplete all of his opponent’s HP. He was going to prove it right away because he then cashed in his contract! Sasadango hit the Lehman Shock over and over (and got the crowd to chant “One More Time!” after every one) but HARASHIMA just kept kicking out. The champion recovered and hit Sasadango with a High Kick and the Somato. That was all it took for a successful title defence. After the match HARASHIMA identified Sasadango as Muscle Sakai and said his research was interesting but forgot something very important. HARASHIMA can recover up to 80% health from the support of his fans and tonight he was restored to 90%. He still thought it was a fun match though.

takeshita-tanahashi

Tsurumi Amon announced a big match that he believed would attract a lot of attention for “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2014”. DDT’s rookie phenom Konosuke Takeshita will take on New Japan superstar Hiroshi Tanahashi! The star made his entrance, played his air guitar, unbuttoned his shirt and introduced himself as the once in a century talent. He then told Takeshita he was looking forward to their match. Takeshita’s response was that he is a one in 200 million million years including the Jurrasic Era talent and his ability outweighs all!

takagi-kasai-suzuki-nakazawa

Michael Nakazawa was the sole survivor of the Elimination Match but not without the surprise help of his new ally. Nakazawa had a surprisingly good showing in the match, eliminating everyone in Sanshito Takagi’s team. When the match came down to Nakazawa and Takagi, Nakazawa used referee Daisuke Kiso as a shield from a Takagi Lariat. Then he wiped out replacement referee Yukinori Matsui with the Ultimate Venom Arm. Nakazawa called out the next replacement referee, Minoru Suzuki! Tsurumi Amon complained about Suzuki’s appearance but immediately backed down when Suzuki looked at him. Takagi pinned Nakazawa but Suzuki counted slowly until there was a kickout. Nakazawa rolled over Takagi and Suzuki did a fast count but Takagi kicked out. Takagi got angry at Suzuki and got put in a Sleeper Hold for his troubles. Suzuki then planted him with the Gotch-Style Piledriver and Nakazawa covered Takagi to win the match. Nakazawa taunted Takagi after the match and told him to quit before he faces himself and Suzuki at Sumo Hall. Takagi said they will have a Street Wrestling match and his partner is Jun Kasai! The Crazy Monkey appeared and stood face to face with Suzuki. He simply told him “Nice to meet you”.

ibushi-10

Kota Ibushi will celebrate his 10th anniversary in wrestling during July. He has two DVDs coming out featuring his best matches for DDT and New Japan respectively. There will also be a 10th Anniversary show in Osaka on 13th July. Ibushi gets to decide the card for the show but fireworks will be prohibited.

Tokyo Women’s Wrestling members Miyu Yamashita and Erin announced a special Tokyo Joshi show on 11th July in Ichigaya for the injured Ririko Kendo. Kendo is currently out of action with injuries to both her left and right arms. Afterwards Shigehiro Irie and Akito announced DDT will be part of “KENGO TAKAI AID” in Sportiva Arena on 6th July. Freelance wrestler Kengo Takai fractured his ankle and several wrestlers from around the scene are coming together to raise money for him. KUDO and Yukio Sakaguchi will also be on the card.

DDT will do another photobook with photographer Leslie Kee. The book will be called Super DDT.

3a. Ryu Gouma defeated Seiya Morohashi when he answered a quiz question correctly (6:36).
3b. Ryu Gouma defeated Seiya Morohashi when he answered a quiz question correctly (9:59).
*Seiya Morohashi fails in V1. Ryu Gouma becomes the 4th Aipoke World Champion!
4. Hikaru Sato defeated Tomoya Kawamura with a Crab Hold (7:21).
5. Shuji Ishikawa defeated Richard Burn with a Swinging Sleeper (5:29).
6. Hardcore Match: Isami Kodaka, FUMA & SAGAT defeated Ivan Markov, Freddy Martello & Hiroshi Fukuda (w/ MEN’S Teioh) when Kodaka pinned Martello with the Zan Isamu Leg (15:44).

Union won the latest battle against World MEN’s Club, a 6-Man Tag that was fought under Hardcore rules by request of the Club. The Union team were ambushed as they made their entrance and the two sides utilised plenty of chairs to hurt each other. Isami Kodaka withstood Freddy Martello’s attacks and put him away with a Vertical Drop Brainbuster onto a fold out chair followed by the Zan Isamu Leg. After the match Kodaka told Ivan Markov that the match was hotter than the Winter Olympics going on in Sochi right now and that he wants a Union MAX Title shot next month!

Richard Burn returned to show off his fighting ability yet again, this time against the big man of Union, Shuji Ishikawa. Burn was accompanied by a man wearing glasses who acted as his cornerman, yelling instructions and motivating him with martial art stances. Ishikawa proved too strong to handle and applied a deep Sleeper Hold, going as far as to lift Burn off his feet and swing him in a circle until he submitted. Burn thanked Ishikawa for a good fight and asked for another match sometime. Ishikawa accepted.

That wasn’t the last appearance of Burn and his companion. They both reappeared at the end of the show wearing bikini tops and mini skirts with their hair in pigtails. Burn took the mic and said his real name was Ladybeard and he loves to wear women’s clothing! He appealed to join Union. Ishikawa said he could and everybody welcomed him. They are not creeped out by Burn’s sudden change because according to Kodaka, “Nothing is scary to us anymore.”

Hikaru Sato has jumped ship to Union, at least for the time being. Sato was the mysterious opponent for the rookie Tomoya Kawamura and the result was no surprise. In the post-match interview Sato explained that Union is a nice resting place for him to have a break after a good journey. He denied coming over to Union for the Aipoke World Title.

The Aipoke World Title was on the line in a Best 2 out of 3 Quiz match. Every time a wrestler pinned his opponent for one second or forced him to use a rope break, one of the Idea Pocket Divas would ask him a quiz question. First wrestler to answer two questions correctly wins the match. Seiya Morohashi easily pinned Ryu Gouma several times but was so excited he kept on giving wrong answers immediately instead of taking the time to think. Eventually Gouma was able to pin Morohashi twice and answer both questions correctly to became the new Aipoke Champion! Super Sasadango Machine appeared after the match to challenge Gouma to a title match at Korakuen Hall in May. They shook hands but Sasadango then gave Gouma the Verdict.

Union’s other war right now is with the invading Ganbare☆Wrestling led by Ken Ohka. Daichi Kazato & Mitomi Masayuki were ready to fight the Ganpuro team of Ohka & Yumehito Imanari but did not expect former Union wrestler Shinichiro Tominaga to show up with them. The match quickly turned into a brawl and had to be called off as the four wrestlers were fighting all over the arena. When things settled down, Ohka introduced the Union team to Tominaga and asked for the match to restart with Tominaga taking Imanari’s place. Everyone agreed and the bell rang. Tominaga bloodied Kazato’s mouth with punches and wiped out Masayuki with a Moonsault, leaving Ohka to put away Kazato with the Spear. Tominaga screamed out how happy he was quitting Union and how Ganpuro revived him. The trio later picked a fight with Seiya Morohashi until Naomi Susan stepped in and demanded them to leave.

Cherry and Mio Shirai weren’t able to work well as a team for Shirai’s first match as a full time Union wrestler. They were still able to win but Shirai thought she had to do it by herself. She challenged Cherry to a Fly To Everywhere Title match and declared she will change the world of women’s wrestling. Naomi Susan booked the match for Yokohama on 23rd March. Mio told Cherry to protect the belt tightly.

KO-D Tag Team Titles – 3 Way Street Fight: Isami Kodaka & Yuko Miyamoto (c) defeated Sanshiro Takagi & Kazuki Hirata and HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano when Kodaka pinned Hirata with the Diving Double Knee Drop from the bicycle parking lot roof (20:08).
*V4 for Yankii Ni Cho Kenju.

Isami Kodaka & Yuko Miyamoto continue their domination of the DDT Tag Division, this time overcoming two teams in a DDT specialty Falls Count Anywhere match. The bout took place in the bicycle parking lot of the JR Musashi Koganei Station in Tokyo. Mats were placed on the ground to represent the “squared circle.” The vice president of the station was in attendence and he thanked the crowd of 300 people for coming to see the event.

The KO-D Tag Team Champions came out both dressed as Santa Claus. Kodaka, Sanshiro Takagi and Yasu Urano started off the match. Isami played the role of the referee when Urano held Takagi in a Hammerlock. Kodaka then put Urano in the same hold and Takagi then pretended to be the ref. Takagi put Kodaka in an STF but that was broken apart when Miyamoto hit Takagi with a padded baseball bat. Miyamoto brought out frisbees and threw them at his opponents while Urano took out a cracker, placed it in Kodaka’s mouth and set it off. Later on Kodaka brought out red spray paint and sprayed the Japanese character for “Merry Christmas” on Kazuki Hirata’s back. The champions also brought out concrete blocks to put on top of their opponents when they were lying on the ground. They then used other blocks to break them!

miyamoto-moonsault

Kodaka brought out tomatoes he purchased from a nearby store for a snack but Takagi appeared behind him and squashed an orange into his eyes. GENTARO suddenly appeared but it turns out he is a local and he was just shopping in the area. Takagi found a bicycle shop and cycled back into the match, running over Miyamoto and then Clotheslining HARASHIMA from the bike for a nearfall. The fighting returned to the section where it began except this time a house of chairs was set up. Takagi cycled towards Urano but Urano leapt out of the way leading Takagi to crash into the chairs. HARASHIMA followed up with the Somato and went for the pin but Kodaka & Miyamoto were there to break it up. The champions climbed onto the roof of the parking lot. Miyamoto Moonsaulted onto the gang below and Kodaka hit the Diving Double Knee Drop onto Hirata for the three count.

6. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Isami Kodaka & Yuko Miyamoto (c) defeated Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega when Kodaka pinned Omega with the Rasengan (20:57).
*V3 for Yankii Ni Cho Kenju.

Isami Kodaka & Yuko Miyamoto made it clear they are the very best tag team in DDT right now after defeating the Golden Lovers to retain the KO-D Tag Team Titles. Their next defence will be in Hakata on 15th December. The champions pointed out that two wrestlers from Union and 666 now currently dominate both the DDT and Big Japan tag team divisions and they should not be treated like fools because they come from “smelly indies”. Kodaka even asked for the title match to take place in the streets or the local shopping mall. Backstage, Kenny Omega said being defeated was the worst and both he and Kota Ibushi wrestled with injuries. He wants a Falls Count Anywhere rematch in DDT next year and even Ibushi said he wants revenge.

HARASHIMA defended the DDT Extreme Title in a Blindfold Hidden Breasts Match against Antonio Honda. The rule were both men had to wear blindfolds and bras. The first man to find and strip his opponent’s bra would win. Yukinori Matsui got caught in the crossfire a few times and narrowly avoided the Somato from the champion. HARASHIMA was able to knock down Honda with a High Kick and then flattened him with the Somato, pulling off Honda’s bra afterwards to win. HARASHIMA complimented Honda for coming up with a great match idea which taught him some valuable experience.

DJ Nira suddenly appeared with Daisuke Kiso by his side. He told HARASHIMA it would be either him or Kiso who will be the next challenger. He then gave Kiso the Rocket Punch and said he was the next challenger. The match is booked for the 23rd November show in Yokohama However, Guanchulo earlier won a Battle Royal that granted him a shot at HARASHIMA’s Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title. It was agreed that he will face HARASHIMA in Sendai on the 24th. Kazuki Hirata snuck into the ring and attacked HARASHIMA. He rolled over HARASHIMA for a pin but only got a two count. He then fled the ring. If that wasn’t enough, Amon Tsurumi announced that HARASHIMA will defend his KO-D Openweight Title against Yukio Sakaguchi at the 23rd December Korakuen Hall show. HARASHIMA offered a handshake to Sakaguchi but he gave him a fist bump instead.

Speaking of Sakaguchi, he knocked out Shigehiro Irie with a Knee Strike to the face during their tag team match. Irie actually kicked out of the pin but was too groggy to stand up so the referee called for the match to end. A stretcher was brought out but Irie was helped out to the locker room by Keisuke Ishii and Soma Takao instead. Irie had no idea what happened and didn’t know the match was over.

Isami Kodaka and Masa Takanashi were in Russia during the weekend wrestling for the Independent Wrestling Federation. While Takanashi was facing different members of the roster, Kodaka was right in the thick of it with the IWF Champion, Ivan Markov. On Night 1 the two faced each other with the title on the line. The match was turned into a Hardcore match by request of Markov after both of them brought in chairs. Despite making Markov bleed heavily with a broken seat piece, Kodaka eventually lost to the champion. After the match, Ronnie Crimson ran into the ring to attack Markov but Kodaka came to the rescue and ran Crimson away.

Union has won the war against the Nazo Fukumen! After many months they were able to defeat the mystery masked men once and for all in a Hardcore 6-Man Tag Team Elimination match. The Fukumen were led by Nazo Fukumen KJ, who wore goggles and a bandana over his mask like a certain “Crazy Monkey” would. The Fukumen drew first blood by eliminating Seiya Morohashi. KJ did the damage with the Pearl Harbor Splash and Nazo Fukumen P easily pinned Morohashi with a Gedo Clutch. Union turned things around when Isami Kodaka & Madoka eliminated KJ & Nazo Fukumen K one after the other. All alone in the ring, Fukumen P unmasked to reveal himself as Hiroshi Fukuda! He had some luck in evening the odds when Kodaka accidentaly eliminated Madoka from the match. Fukuda gave Kodaka the Perfect Plex but that was not enough. Kodaka recovered and struck Fukuda with move after move until he finally pinned him with the Zan Isamu Leg.

After the match Fukuda explained he joined the Nazo Fukumen in order to wrestle in main events against his friends. He apologised to the fans and to Nazo Fukumen Queen. The Queen suggested that he could join Union again. Naomi Susan agreed and made the offer to Fukuda, which he accepted. Susan also said that Mio Shirai was allowed back in Union. Nazo Fukumen B happliy unmasked, revealing herself to be Mio and she hugged Susan.

A tournament will be held on Union’s 8th Anniversary show in Shinjuku FACE on 23rd October. The 1st Round draw was held inside the ring after the main event. The matches will be SAGAT Vs Shuji Ishikawa, Daichi Kazato Vs FUMA, Isami Kodaka Vs Cherry and Hiroshi Fukuda Vs Seiya Morohashi.

Cherry Vs Keizo Matsuda begun with some flirting between the two but it turned out to be a sneak attack by Cherry. She continued to play around with her opponent but Matsuda eventually caught up to her and proved to be too strong. Cherry offered a handshake after the match but that too turned out to be a trap. She kicked him between the legs instead.

Before the Idea Pocket match began, Mitomi Masayuki noted that as an elite college graduate, he was not able to spend much of his educational years with women due to having no money. He and Menso~re Oyaji agreed to share Rika Seibi and Tsubasa Amami rather than fight over them. Mio Shirai claims the two Divas still work for her and she rejected their plan. She even interfered in the match causing it to end in a double pin draw. Naomi Susan stepped in and booked a 3 Way Match for the next Union show to solve the problem. Afterwards Masayuki approached each of the Divas only to be slapped by both of them. He was also slapped by the Idea Pocket producer who accompanied the Divas.
