1. Tokyo Joshi Pro Offer Match: Mizuki & Nao Kakuta defeated Miyu Yamashita & Yuki Kamifuku when Mizuki pinned Yamashita with the Cutie Special (?:??).

This is a bizarre turn of events. Fashion designer Alexander Wang held an event in Shibuya tonight featuring a whole lot of rappers, models, influencers, dancers and also a wrestling match provided by Tokyo Joshi Pro. It turns out Wang is a TJPW fan and he’s been wanting to work something with them for a while. He got TJPW to put together a match between Mizuki & Nao Kakuta against Miyu Yamashita & Yuki Kamifuku for the show. The match had been advertised in the event’s marketing materials for at least a week but I only found out about it a few hours ago when video clips appeared online of Kanye West performing one of his songs in the ring with Ty Dolla $ign. In a world that’s only getting crazier you can add “Ye watches TJPW” to the list.

As for the match itself I was able to find clips of what happened from the Instagram account dutchsix and the picture I used above is taken from Kamifuku’s Instagram. The women wrestled in black and white outfits instead of their usual costumes. Sayuri Namba was also in attendance to do her usual ring announcing duties. The match finish saw Mizuki give Yamashita the Whirling Candy followed by the Cutie Special for the three count. This isn’t the first time joshi wrestling has crossed paths with the fashion world. Over in America there is Sukeban that has recently become the leading example of Japanese women’s wrestling becoming avant-garde stateside. Judging by the clips Wang seemed to be thrilled with how the match turned out so maybe something more can happen in the future (or maybe not because apparently the guy is sketchy as hell).

Yesterday DAMNATION T.A attacked members of Smile Squash as well as the DDT GM Hisaya Imabayashi backstage during the show. Daisuke Sasaki took it far enough to grab a clothes hanger and hook the inside of Imabayashi’s mouth with it! He did it while demanding DAMNATION T.A be given a KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles rematch. Akito gave in and accepted the challenge but only because DAMNATION T.A are the former champions. He believes they have the right for a championship rematch. Akito also decided the match should take place at Sumo Hall so Smile Squash can get their revenge on the big stage.

More guest wrestlers from the GCW side will be at the show. Gringo Loco and Broski Jimmy are among them along with 2 Cold Scorpio! DDT are also marketing GCW’s other shows for their Japan tour but I won’t be writing much about them here unless there is a lot of DDT involvement in their lineups.

Takeshita Is Entering The G1 Climax!

Well holy crap will you look at that! Konosuke Takeshita is entering this year’s G1 Climax on behalf of both AEW and DDT. He will be the second DDT affiliated wrestler to take part in New Japan’s famous tournament after Kota Ibushi. It’s a fascinating announcement after Takeshita recently fought Jon Moxley in AEW just for the chance to get an IWGP World Heavyweight Title shot. He swears to enter the G1 as the eye of the storm because he wants to win it so badly. It hasn’t been announced yet if he will be booked for any non-tournament matches during the tour.

Every block match has a 30 minute time limit. 2 Points for a win, 1 Point for a draw and 0 points for losing or having a No Contest. Head-to-head results are used to determine any tiebreakers. The extra wrinkle added to this year’s tournament is the top three of both blocks enter the knockout rounds. Those who finish 2nd and 3rd in their block will face each other and the winner moves on to face the person who finished in 1st to determine who wins the block. The A Block winner and B Block winner then meet in the grand final.
