6. Special Single Match: Yuji Nagata defeated CIMA with the Back Drop Hold (18:05).

Some little known history between Yuji Nagata and CIMA was revisited for the main event of the latest Super Japan show. When CIMA was only two months into his pro wrestling career he apparently had a WCW match with Nagata inside the Universal Studios that held tapings at the time. He stuck around for a while to be Nagata’s weight training partner until their paths split off. Today, 19 years later they had their rematch. Nagata entered the ring with the amateur parody wrestler Ujikoji Nagata alongside him but the match with CIMA was played completely straight. CIMA targeted Nagata’s left leg before moving up to his big moves but Nagata kicked out of the Swan Dive Meteroa. In return, Nagata gave CIMA an Exploder Suplex, a Running Knee Strike and then the Back Drop Hold to get the pinfall.

Nagata said CIMA is completely different from how he was 29 years ago and he now understands how many tough battles he has gone through. CIMA pointed out that Shinjuku FACE will be closing down soon but his battle with Nagata is not over. He wants to have another rematch in 30 years time when he is 79 and Nagata will be 88! After CIMA left the ring, Nagata wanted to talk to someone else so he called for Satoshi Kojima to come face him. Nagata then revealed that his contract with New Japan was supposed to end in 2024 which is why Sanshiro Takagi chose him to be the ace of Super Japan. Plans changed and New Japan extended his deal but Nagata is still proud of the work he is doing here. He doesn’t appreciate Kojima suddenly popping up in Super Japan and be paid for acting like he can do whatever he wants! Kojima said ever since 2013 he’s been constantly DM’ing Takagi about working with him for whatever ideas they can come up with so he hasn’t come to Super Japan for the money. Takagi and Masayuki Uchida both stepped in to tell Nagata and Kojima they should wrestle each other at the next Super Japan show scheduled for Shinjuku FACE on 28th September, two days before the venue closes down for good. Uchida in particular loves the idea and thinks it is a match that can only happen in Super Japan. Takagi is even going far enough to call it a battle between Super Japan and New Japan!

Maybe Nagata had a point about Kojima not taking Super Japan seriously because Kojima showed up for his match acting like one of The Brahman Brothers! He appeared in full Brahman gear and that included a large patch stuck over his head to make his hair resemble a skullet. It appeared that Brahman Koji was brainwashed into acting this way and he joined along with the usual messy Brahman spots. He even drooled out orange coloured goo from his mouth after he took damage from Munenori Sawa & Fuminori Abe. Kojima finally snapped out of it when Brahman Shu & Brahman Kei both accidentally threw powder into his face. Next thing they knew, Kojima was knocking them down with Lariats and allowing Sanshiro Takagi to give them Stunners before stacking them up for the victory. The Brahmans had lost Brahman Koji today but they can just go find another new member to join them and make summer memories together.

Somehow Ken Ohka got busted open really heavily at the start of his match after Hayabusa got him with a Topé Con Hilo. While Ohka showed some fighting spirit by continuing on, he eventually fell to Hayabusa’s Firebird Splash. Hayabusa had heard about Ohka’s request to fight him so he asked him how he felt after the match? Ohka said he will be turning 49 this year. He ran away from a wrestling dojo in his mid-twenties but he was eventually forgiven and he worked hard to establish Ganbare☆Pro. He has proved that despite having negative experiences, a 49 year old like him can still get married and have three kids by working hard. So if Hayabusa also has a dream then he shouldn’t give up either.

There is a follow up to Kota Ibushi’s sudden appearance at the previous Super Japan show but it is going in a completely different direction. Mac Matsushita lost his fight against Thanomsak Toba but later joined up with him, Ibushi and Tyson Maeguchi backstage to announced that Matsushita has now joined the Ibushi Wrestling Institute! Takagi gave his endorsement to the move meaning that Matsushita is now no longer exclusive to just wrestling on Super Japan shows.

The return of the Unpaid Rumble had a few actual professional wrestlers sneaking into it. Takagi and Shota were already advertised for it pretty much to oversee all of the amateur and parody gimmicks filling up the ring. However Mio Shirai appeared as one of the early entrants and the biggest surprise of all was Daisuke Sekimoto showing up to clear out whoever was left and then win the whole thing! Unfortunately he didn’t realise until afterwards that entries for the match was on a volunteer only basis so he wasn’t going to be paid for anything. His prize for winning is an offer to participate in future Super Japan shows also for free. Sekimoto said he will consider it.

The Speed Of Sounds were made team captains for the latest BASARA team challenge show. Two points were given to the winning team in every match and each bout had a wacky gimmick attached to it. The score was tied going into the main event so it all came down to a very serious singles match between Tsutomu Oosugi and Banana Senga, except it was really SAGAT and Takeru Inoue pretending to be SOS. The match fell apart when everyone interfered so the new decider was a 14-Man Tag Match that was won by Oosugi’s team.

There is still a month to go until Takumi Tsukamoto challenges Shuji Ishiakwa for the Union MAX Title. To help get him prepared Tsukamoto went through a gauntlet of seven mini matches with each bout scheduled for three minutes. Due to the short amount of time, Tsukamoto drew with most of his opponents but he was able to score two wins in there. The one blot on his record came from Daiki Shimomura pinning him with a Hurricanrana he wasn’t expecting.

SOS were back on the same page for the second show of the day. There were no hard feelings between them and they were able to win their tag match.
