4. Ken Ohka & Mac Matsushita defeated Thanomsak Toba & Hyo Ogawa when Ohka pinned Ogawa with the Spear Of Flame (9:21).
5. Special Tag Match: Satoshi Kojima & Ippanjin Munenori Sawa defeated Brahman Shu & Brahman Kei when Kojima pinned Kei with the Lariat (14:07).
6. Special Tag Match: “Blue Hebi Justice” Yuji Jagata & CIMA defeated Sanshiro Takagi & Poison Sawada JULIE when CIMA pinned Takagi with the Meteora (12:16).

On the day when New Japan changed ownership and created a shift in power across the pro wrestling scene, Super Japan went ahead and held their latest show with Yuji Nagata getting caught up in DDT hijinks. At the start of the show Nagata joined Sanshiro Takagi and advisor Masayuki Uchida to celebrate the fan voted continuation of Super Japan with a toast of energy drinks. However when they all drank it, Poison Sawada JULIE came out and revealed he swapped out Nagata’s drink with an extract of snake magic! Nagata collapsed in the ring and was taken back to the locker room to get help while Takagi suddenly wrapped up Uchida in tape and kidnapped him under JULIE’s orders!

It was all going according to plan for JULIE. He formed a new alliance with Takagi after being enemies with him in DDT for years and now had Nagata under his control. CIMA had to fight all three of them by himself in the main event with Nagata having fully transformed into a Snake Magic version called “Blue Hebi Justice” Yuji Jagata. Uchida was able to free himself backstage and used a mirror to reflect a spell back at JULIE. He also fed Nagata an antitode that gradually returned him back to normal. Nagata used the powers of his Salute pose to fight off JULIE’s magic while CIMA pinned Takagi with the Meteora to win the match. CIMA then brought up the match he had with Nagata in WCW 29 years ago. He was only 19 years old and 2 months into his career back then. He was dominated into defeat and has wanted a rematch ever since so he challenged Nagata to a singles match on 6th July! Nagata said he has no reason to refuse so he will give CIMA his all at the next Super Japan show.

In a moment that came and went in a blink of an eye, Kota Ibushi was seen standing at the entrance way waiting for Takagi after the main event. He reached out to Takagi and helped him walk to the back. Ibushi has not been seen on a DDT related event since his falling out with the company back in October 2024.

Having a pro wrestling career that spans across 35 years means you get to see a lot of different things happen. Satoshi Kojima used that sort of knowledge to help him fight off The Brahman Brothers. It helped that Munenori Sawa sacrificed himself by jumping in the way of an Ink Mist spot. By that point Kojima knew the plan was to fight as if he was a Brahman Brother himself. He suddenly started spewing out orange ink and used it to blind his opponents before beating them with the Lariat. Sawa was impressed to see first hand how Kojima can handle anything that gets thrown his way. Kojima though said he has no memory of what happened during the match. The Brahman Brothers were also amazed by Kojima and talked about wanting to team up with him next time just like they did with Nagata before.

Ken Ohka wants to do his bit to liven up Super Japan and came up with a big idea for a match to do on a future show. However neither Takagi nor Uchida were around after his match to hear about it. He had to wait until after the show to find Uchida and tell him he wanted to fight Hayabusa! Uchida agreed to book the match for 7th July.

6. Special 6-Man Tag Match: Kazusada Higuchi, Ryota Nakatsu & Yuki Ishida defeated Satoshi Kojima, Antonio Honda & Yuya Koroku when Ishida pinned Honda with the Flame Palm (16:47).

Last November was when Satoshi Kojima wrestled in DDT and he came back today in order to team up with Yuya Koroku. The two of them both trained in the Animal Hamiguchi Gym. The main event also had Ryota Nakatsu paying DDT a visit so he can team with Harimao again. Kojima’s team wasn’t able to win but after the match Koroku told a story backstage about him getting an autograph from Kojima eight years ago. At the time he told Kojima he wanted to be a pro wrestler and it would be great if they were in the ring together some day. Kojima said he loves the atmosphere of DDT shows that you can’t find in other companies.

At some point before the show took place, Ilusion kidnapped Bunbun from Takeshi Masada and hung him upside down above the ring! So obviously the match between SCHADENFREUDE International and DAMNATION T.A was turned into a Ladder match to see who could get Bunbun down first! Masada made up for letting Bunbun get captured in the first place by being the one to pull him down after he Power Bombed Ilusion from the ladder.

It should be a brand new day for DDT with a brand new champion at the helm but it turns out winning the KO-D Openweight Title has not made Kazuki Hirata stronger even one tiny bit. He held a press conference in the ring before the show began where he talked about all of the wrestlers who sent him congratulatory messages for the title victory. Konosuke Takeshita sent him a 5,000 yen gift card while Hiromu Takahashi asked if he could get a title shot sometime. Hirata passed on that idea but he was informed that his first scheduled title defence will take place at Korakuen Hall on 28th September. Hirata asked for his opponent to be either the GM Hisaya Imabayashi or the referee Daisuke Kiso but he was denied. Instead Imabayashi told him he has until 12th September to pick his opponent. Hirata said he wants to get a challenger who is as weak as possible.

We then saw how Hirata has made no progress in the second match when he was immediately pinned by HARASHIMA. The match restarted only for HARASHIMA to quickly pin Hirata again. Another restart led to a proper match going ahead but HARASHIMA still got to beat Hirata a third time. It made HARASHIMA ask for a title shot but Hirata turned him down, explaining that it wouldn’t be worth it for HARASHIMA to win the title from a very weak champion. His fans would only approve if HARASHIMA beat an incredibly strong opponent to become the champion again. HARASHIMA understood and let Hirata off the hook.

Then later in the show Yuki Iino won the red Right To Challenge Arm Cover from Soma Takao. Given his successful history using this prize in the past, Iino wanted to cash it in for a KO-D Title shot straight away. Hirata tried to bribe him with candy to change his mind but it didn’t convince him. However Iino then received a message on his phone telling him that his private gym received a reservation on short notice from a “Mr. Hirata”. Iino no longer had enough time to wrestle another match so he raced off to the gym, leaving Hirata to survive the day as still the champion.

8. KO-D Openweight Title – Houset Co., Ltd Presents: Chris Brookes defeated Shinya Aoki (c) with the House Piano Death (21:44).
*Shinya Aoki fails in V4. Chris Brookes becomes the 84th KO-D Openweight Champion!

A free to attend show was put together by DDT and sponsors at Higashin Arena to kick off the road to Sumo Hall happening at the end of the year. It featured a major title change in the main event with Chris Brookes defeating Shinya Aoki to become the new KO-D Openweight Champion almost a year after his first reign ended! While the match started off in a calm manner with a lot of mat work, it soon went out of the ring where Brookes put Aoki through a table with a Piledriver. Back in the ring Aoki relied on limb holds to counter Brookes, escaping the Praying Mantis Bomb by using a Side Hammerlock to take control and trap Brookes in the Manjigatame. He used the Full Nelson Hold to try and get a pinfall but Brookes kicked out of two. In return Brookes hit the Somato but Aoki kicked out for a nearfall as well. Brookes was able to put Aoki in the Octopus Hold and switched it over to the House Piano Death, keeping Aoki locked in until the champion had to give up.

Aoki took the loss well and presented Brookes with the KO-D Title belt after the match. Brookes was then told by Hisaya Imabayashi he will defend the title at “ULTIMATE PARTY 2024” on 28th December. Daisuke Sasaki entered the ring with a chair but sat down on it and congratulated Brookes instead of attacking him. Sasaki said Brookes talks a lot about love, romance, dreams and other things like that. The ring doesn’t need any of that stuff so Sasaki will win the title and bring DDT back to being the mess that it should be! He wants to fight Brookes on the biggest stage and challenged him for Sumo Hall. Brookes accepted and even shook Sasaki’s hand without incident.

Backstage Brookes praised Aoki for being incredibly strong. But Brookes had a dream of winning the title again and today it came true. Over the last year he dislocated his shoulder and recovered from a tumor but he was able to overcome all of that to become the champion again. His outlook on life and death has changed because of the last year. He also thinks DAMNATION T.A is just a bunch of B and C class wrestlers so he doesn’t think Sasaki can beat him for the title. Aoki is proud of how his title reign went. The belt is a championship, not a medal so he knew the hard work wasn’t over when he won it. Sasaki however is sick to his stomach of all the love and dreams stuff going on in DDT right now. He isn’t actually interested in becoming KO-D Champion again but he wants to mess up Brookes. His threat is Brookes will have Christmas but he won’t make it to New Year’s!

At some point in the day before the venue doors were open to the public, Yuki Ueno won the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title from Danshoku Dieno. Then at the start of the show Dieno and his team declared they are the Reiwa Meiji Restoration that will overthrow the “government” that is The 37KAMIINA! He demanded that their match in the semi-main event should be Best 2 Out Of 3 Falls so nobody can blame losing twice on a fluke. The first fall ended with a double pin on both sides at the same time. To-y pinned Dieno after doing an assisted Kojima Wonderland with Shunma Katsumata while Super Sasadango Machine was pinning Ueno with a School Boy. Daisuke Kiso ruled The 37KAMIINA as the winners of the fall because To-y and Dieno were the legal wrestlers. Sasadango pinning Ueno didn’t count towards the match but was still accepted as an Iron Man Title change, making Sasadango the new champ! The second fall had Katsumata take the Somato from HARASHIMA, the Danshoku Driver from Dieno and the Lehman Shock from Sasadango but his partner made the save. Katsumata fought back on Sasadango and pinned him with the Totonou Splash to give The 37KAMIINA a clean sweep and become Iron Man Champ in the process. All it cost the team was To-y being sacrificed to Dieno’s antics. Yuni then surprised Katsumata with a Roll Up after the match to take the title from him.

Satoshi Kojima was one of the guest attractions for the show and he was advertised in advance so there was no need to call him “X” beforehand. His presence brought memories back to Antonio Honda of the TenKoji Police arresting the Monster Army back in 2012. This time they were teaming up but Honda was still missing some courage. He wanted to quit the match from the moment he had to square off against Jun Akiyama. A stark difference to Shinichiro Kawamatsu wanting to fight Kojima. Yukio Naya stopped Kojima’s momentum with a Choke Slam so Honda tried to summon Gongitsune. Akiyama blocked Honda but that caused Kojima to do the Gongitsune Eye Poke to him instead! He then intercepted Kawamatu’s Axe Bomber with the Lariat but Naya came back to cut him off. Akiyama got his hands on Honda to give him the Exploder Suplex and Kawamatsu recovered to hit Honda with the Shitamachi Rocket and pin him.

This new version of Ilusion is being described by Sasaki as the little demon who sold his soul to the Devil. He tried to avoid fighting Takeshi Masada early in their match and intentionally Dropkicked the referee from behind so the rest of DAMNATION T.A could run interference. Masahiro Takanashi was already in Masada’s corner for the match so he was there to run counter-interference. However DAMNATION T.A had the numbers advantage and KANON distracted the ref long enough for Ilusion to give Masada a Low Blow, Sasaki to give him the Pedigree and Ilusion to hit him over the head with a chair. The ref was let go in time to see Ilusion do the Swanton Bomb onto Masada and get the three count. Ilusion taunted the fans for being quiet and attacked Masada even more to make them boo him. He then said SCHADENFREUDE International are going to live in a dark future from now on and Masada should never show his annoying face to him ever again!

A lot of the matches on the show had different sponsors which is how DDT was able to have free attendance. Match #4 was sponsored by a wrestling themed social networking app called STOMPING. A masked representative from the company named Stomping Mask introduced the match and watched on to see Makoto Oishi & Soma Takao beat Toru Owashi & Kazuki Hirata. Oishi admitted during the match he was in a bad mood so Hirata convinced him to wear a pair of Hirata GO! glasses to get rid of his stress. They both danced until Takao rolled up Hirata from behind to pin him. Backstage Stomping Mask complained to Hirata for not doing a good job to promote the app. Hirata attacked and unmasked him to reveal it was Hisaya Imabayashi all along!

DAMNATION T.A also won their 8-Man Tag Match earlier in the show. With Demus added to their lineup they had someone who could go toe to toe with Tetsuya Endo with lucha while KANON & MJ Paul were able to handled Takanashi & Yuya Koroku. Sasaki finished things off for Takanashi by dropping him with the Pedigree and submitting him with the Crossface Lock.

Three mascots made their pro wrestling debut in Match #2. On one side, DDT’s own mascot Pokotan teamed up with Touchi-kun from the Japan Self-Defence Force. Their opponents were Oshinari-kun from the Oshinari Shopping District and Higapyon from the Tokyo Higashi Shinkin Bank. Pokotan had no problem fighting Oshinari-kun but didn’t want to attack the cute rabbit Higapyon. Touchi-kun didn’t approve of how violent Pokotan was acting anyway so the three mascots all stood up to Pokotan. They knocked his head off and Oshinari-kun pinned Pokotan with the Diving Hip Drop. Pokotan saw the error of his ways after the match and the four of them all posed for the audience.

Kazuma Sumi is learning new ways to use the School Boy on his opponents. He was able to spin Yuki Ishida into the cradle to take the three count from him in the opening match. Sumi said he will continue to polish this move even more so he can pin his seniors with it from now on. Yuni was happy with his performance because today is his last match before he wrestles in America for DDT’s tour in Seattle next week. He wants to make a name for himself when he wrestles Gringo Loco and Konosuke Takeshita in his two matches over there. Ishida admitted he underestimated Sumi and Keigo Nakamura also said they have no excuses for losing today.

It was announced that Yuki Iino will face New Japan wrestler Tomohiro Ishii at Korakuen Hall on 22nd December! Iino said he is really looking forward to the heavyweight fight and wants everyone to come see it. He wants to end the year by beating Ishii and then win at Sumo Hall so he can keep on BURNING.

There was an intermission performance by members of the idol group KLP48. They are a sister group of AKB48 based in Kuala Lumpur and today was their first ever performance in Japan.

Akito spoke to the wrestling media after the show. He revealed Sanshiro Takagi saw companies like Kyushu Pro running sponsored shows in their own regions which inspired him to try it out with DDT in Tokyo. Akito thinks there were mistakes made but they are able to learn from them. He will give it some thought before deciding if DDT will hold this event again next year. The goal is to get people excited for DDT’s shows at Korakuen and Sumo Hall at the end of the year. The attendance number above isn’t accurate because people were allowed to come and go from the venue as the show went on. Akito said 1,600 seats were set up and the room could take 1,800 people in total at all times. So the extra 400 to make it 2,200 are considered to be people who came in during the show after other people left (the DDT site briefly had the number at 1,800 as the match results were coming in before quickly changing it to 2,200 after the show had ended).

2. The Leave Mask & Yuki Iino defeated Black Menso-re & Tomomitsu Matsunaga when Mask pinned Menso-re with a Jackknife Pin (12:23).
3. Tetsuya Endo & Yukio Naya defeated Mohammed Yone & Kohei Kinoshita when Endo pinned Kinoshita with the Burning Star Press (14:46).
6. Akitoshi Saito LIMIT BREAK Last Match: Akitoshi Saito & Jun Akiyama defeated Satoshi Kojima & Yu Owada when Saito pinned Owada with the Sickle Death (15:56).

A couple of DDT wrestlers had more to do than just the Korakuen Hall show yesterday. Some of them popped over to NOAH afterward to wrestle on the latest “LIMIT BREAK” show. It was a special appearance for Jun Akiyama because he teamed with Akitoshi Saito for Saito’s final appearance in LIMIT BREAK on his road to retirement. Their opponents was another visitor Satoshi Kojima along with the NOAH rookie Yu Owada. The Sternness pair won the match when Akiyama gave Owada the Exploder Suplex and Saito pinned him with the Sickle Death. After the match Saito said he will never forget the first time he met Akiyama back in 2000 and he learned a lot of different wrestling styles from him. He tried to stay sharp in today’s match but couldn’t help but loosen up because he was with Akiyama again. Akiyama called Saito his best partner and the easiest wrestler to work with. Akiyama also gave Owada advice on showing more fire and emotion. He wants to see someone carry on the legacy that went from All Japan to NOAH.

Tetsuya Endo & Yukio Naya teamed up for a match against Mohammed Yone & Kohei Kinoshita. The pair was feeling in good condition despite already wrestling earlier in the day. Endo scored the win for the DDT team by pinning Kinoshita with the Burning Star Press. Endo told Kinoshita to tell a certain somebody in Seattle next month that he’s wishing him the best. Naya said in his backstage comment that he would like to have a singles match against Yone some day.

Maybe Yuki Iino can work his way into getting a sponsorship with THE LEAVE. He teamed with the company’s masked luchador The Leave Mask to defeat Black Menso-re & Tomomitsu Matsunaga. Iino asked Mask afterward if it would be ok if he can star in the company’s next commercial?

After successfully defending the KO-D Tag Team Titles yesterday, ShunMao have been informed that their match against Kota Umeda & Tomomitsu Matsunaga later this month is now a title match. Both MAO & Shunma Katsumata have scary memories of Umeda from back in their DNA days so they are not looking forward to seeing him again. Tomomitsu Matsunaga is getting his second shot at the KO-D Tag Titles this year. He previously challenged for them with Jun Akiyama back in April.

1. Special Single Match: Jun Akiyama Vs Antonio Honda
2. Special Single Match: Danshoku Dieno Vs Kazuki Hirata
3. Street Kickboxing 6-Man Tag Match: Kota Ibushi, HARASHIMA & Yukimitsu Takahashi Vs Thanomsak Toba, Takeshi Masada & Gota Ihashi

Now this is the environment I want to see Kota Ibushi flourish in again! A 6-Man Tag Match with Kickboxing rules that I guess can be described as Falls Count Anywhere? I mean the person who gets beaten will be falling over after getting knocked out so that counts, right? The match mixes together several fighting disciplines too. Yukimitsu Takahashi is a pro kickboxer who has been learning from the Ibushi Wrestling Institute since last summer. He will also be fresh off of a kickboxing bout that is happening a few days before this show. Thanomsak Toba is there to represent Muay Thai. Takeshi Masada has a background in Shorinji Kempo. HARASHIMA is going to use “HERO! Martial Arts” That just leaves Gota Ihashi as the human punching bag.

1. DAMNATION T.A Vs SCHADENFREUDE International!: Daisuke Sasaki, KANON, MJ Paul & Ilusion Vs Chris Brookes, Masahiro Takanashi, Antonio Honda & Takeshi Masada
2. DDT Extreme Title: Akito (c) Vs Danshoku Dieno
3. KO-D Openweight Title: Shinya Aoki (c) Vs HARASHIMA

War is breaking out between SCHADENFREUDE International and DAMNATION T.A! You can blame Ilusion for that after he betrayed SCHADENFREUDE and stabbed them all in the back to join DAMNATION T.A. It was a plan that Ilusion and DAMNATION have been in cahoots with together from the very beginning. An 8-Man Tag Match in Korakuen Hall might steal the show if the angle created enough heat for it.

Tokyo Higashin Arena (Sumida City Gymnasium)

1. Touchi-kun Pro Wrestling Debut Match: Touchi-kun Vs X
2. Special 6-Man Tag Match: Jun Akiyama, Yukio Naya & Shinichiro Kawamatsu Vs Satoshi Kojima, Akito & Antonio Honda
3. KO-D Openweight Title: Shinya Aoki (c) Vs X

It’s been so long since Satoshi Kojima last broke bread with DDT. Not counting “CYBERFIGHT FESTIVAL 2022”, he hasn’t wrestled in DDT since the end of 2012. His mighty Lariat might meet its match though. Shinichiro Kawamatsu is on the other team and he now has the Axe Bomber that was passed down to him from Hulk Hogan!

More war is breaking out but in mascot form! Touchi-kun is the mascot of the Japan Self-Defence Force’s Tokyo headquarters but his appearance in DDT yesterday made Pokotan very jealous. Jealous enough to make Pokotan attack the other mascot and get into a fight! The solution is to settle it in the ring, meaning Touchi-kun is going to make his pro wrestling debut.

7. KO-D Tag Team Titles – Makoto Oishi’s Last DDT Match: MAO & Shunma Katsumata (c) defeated Makoto Oishi & Danshoku Dieno when MAO pinned Oishi with the Iai Kick (25:09).
*V1 for ShunMao.

Today was Makoto Oishi’s final day as a DDT pro wrestler. It was a busy day for him because he wrestled twice on the show. His contract has now ended and he is planning to move to Miyagi in order to spend more time with his family. While his wrestling schedule is being reduced for the time being it is not the end of his career. He might even show up in DDT again some day in the future. But as far as everyone was concerned, today was treated as him saying goodbye to the company that’s been his home for 13 years.

Oishi’s final match was put in the main event where he teamed with Danshoku Dieno as Gunname Express to challenge ShunMao for the KO-D Tag Team Titles. There were also DDT wrestlers who’ve been close to Oishi for the last few years that stood in his corner at ringside. Oishi explained why halfway through the match. He got on the microphone and said he wants to give more DDT wrestlers one last chance to fight him so they should enter the ring right now! One by one the DDT roster got into the ring and hit Oishi with one of their signature moves. They were Keigo Nakamura, Kazuma Sumi, Yuki Ueno, To-y, Jun Akiyama, Sanshiro Takagi and finally Kaisei Takechi. After that happened Dieno & Oishi performed a 4 way Lip Lock on MAO & Shunma Katsumata. Katsumata and Dieno both collapsed from it, leaving MAO to pin Oishi with the Iai Kick.

After the match Oishi reminded everyone he isn’t retiring. In fact it is likely he will be at DDT’s shows in Osaki and Fukushima next month because they are not far to travel from Miyagi. Dieno left the ring crying anyway. MAO said Oishi will be gone from DDT but Oishi-ism will remain because ShunMao learned from him. Backstage, Hisaya Imabayashi told ShunMao their next title defence will be against Kota Umeda & Tomomitsu Matsunaga on 13th October. ShunMao refused because neither of them want to be in the ring with Umeda again but Imabayashi ignored them and made the match official.

Ilusion lived up to his name because all this time his dream to join SCHADENFREUDE International was just an illuison! You can thank DAMNATION T.A for that because they were in on it the whole time. Ilusion betrayed SCHADENFREUDE by costing them the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles right when they were about to win the belts. Takeshi Masada had Daisuke Sasaki pinned and beaten when Ilusion pulled away the referee and then attacked Masada with a chair. Sasaki & KANON then finished him off with the Freedom Call for a successful title defence. Sasaki announced Ilusion as the newest member of DAMNATION T.A although in reality he has been with them for a long time. Naturally the SCHADENFREUDE members are devastated by what happened. Chris Brookes though is already putting his mind to getting revenge.

In the first prelim match for the upcoming KO-D Openweight Title challenge, HARASHIMA is feeling good about his chances against Shinya Aoki. After winning the tag match HARASHIMA told Aoki it’s been more than three years since their last singles bout together. Seeing Aoki face to face again reminds HARASHIMA how strong he is which makes him worth defeating. Aoki admitted he should be more cautious going into the title match or else he will lose. Until then he’s going to use the remaining prelim matches to tighten up his resolve.

Oishi’s other match on the show was put together by Takechi’s request. The star wanted to team with his mentor so DDT put the two of them against Akito & Kazuki Hirata. It was the first time Takechi got to experience DDT at its wackiest. He joined in the Hirata GO! dance and outperformed everyone else during it. He then used Oishi’s move the Miracle Ecstasy on Hirata and Oishi followed up with the Jikiden Tornado Clutch for the victory. Takechi then read a letter to Oishi after the match thanking him for teaching him to be a pro wrestler from scratch. He hopes one day he will meet Oishi again whether it’s in private, at work or in the ring.

The mindsets of champion and challenger for the upcoming DDT Universal Title match could not be any more different. Yuki Iino is relaxed and confident that he is going to win while To-y is getting paranoid that he will be given the Spear at any moment. To-y said he is going to take everything that makes Iino BURNING and turn it into NeppoWER!! However Iino told him the reason why he Spears him so easily is because To-y has no guts! When the title match happens Iino promises he will use the Spear to split his opponent in two!

How in the hell did we end up with Soma Takao holding both of the remaining Right To Challenge Shields? He considered auctioning them off but decided against it. Instead he is planning to carefully use them one by one and warned everyone to keep their eyes on him.

Yuki Ishida wants a shot at the KO-D 6-Man Tag Titles on 14th October because that is the date of his homecoming show in Kumamoto. His wish was granted and he chose Yukio Naya & Akito to be his tag partners.

There was a special guest who paid DDT a visit today. Touchi-kun is the mascot of the Japan Self-Defence Force’s Tokyo headquarters. However his appearance drew the ire of a jealous Pokotan and the two mascots got into a fight at ringside! DDT decided to settle this problem by giving Touchi-kun his debut wrestling match on the 4th November show in Sumida Ward!

It was announced that Satoshi Kojima will also be at the 4th November show.

10. Princess Of Princess Title: Shoko Nakajima (c) defeated Yuka Sakazaki with the Diving Senton (14:57).
*V3 for Shoko Nakajima.
11. GHC Heavyweight Title: Satoshi Kojima defeated Go Shiozaki (c) with the Lariat (21:11).
*Go Shiozaki fails in V1. Satoshi Kojima becomes the 39th GHC Heavyweight Champion!

The 2nd annual “CYBERFIGHT FESTIVAL” brought together all of the wrestling promotions owned by CyberAgent for a massive show inside Super Saitama Arena. There was plenty of news coming out of it and you can argue it was a better showing for NOAH and Tokyo Joshi Pro than it was for DDT, especially when it came to the inter-promotional matches.

Or maybe it’s New Japan that came out the winner because one of their guys now holds NOAH’s top championship! Satoshi Kojima defeated Go Shiozaki in the main event to win the GHC Heavyweight Title. He is now the fourth wrestler to achieve the biggest grand slam in Japanese pro wrestling. Only he, Kensuke Sasaki, Yoshihiro Takayama and Keiji Muto are the only wrestlers to win the GHC Title, the IWGP Heavyweight Title and the Triple Crown. Shiozaki threw everything at him including Lariats, the Go Flasher and even the Emerald Flowsion. Kojima survived all of it and put his power into three Lariats to dethrone the champion down in his first defence.

Kojima’s big celebration was cut short when Kenoh walked down to the ring. He told Kojima that NOAH is not the destination for New Japan wrestlers. He’s been of the opinion for the last few years because of Muto and Kazuyuki Fujita too. Kenoh promised to open up the future because right now NOAH and CyberFight has none! He challenged Kojima to a title match and Kojima accepted. He later said he doesn’t want anyone to think NOAH is at a low level because he is now their champion. He assures the fans that Shiozaki and the rest of the NOAH roster are not inferior to New Japan. The big title match will take place at Nippon Budokan on 16th July.

TJPW got their spotlight as the semi-main event match. Shoko Nakajima achieved her third straight Princess Of Princess Title defence by beating her long time friend and rival Yuka Sakazaki. Both were given major entrances fitting for the big occasion. Sakazaki got an army of dancing magical girls while Nakajima led a pack of dinosaurs down to the ring. Sakazaki almost won the match by hitting the Magical Merry-Go-Round but her odds vanished after Nakajima blocked the Magical Girl Niwatori Yaro with her knees. The champion then took over with a DDT and pinned Sakazaki with the Diving Senton. Nakajima is happy to see so many people watch her match against somebody as special to her as Sakazaki. Her opponent feels the same even though she lost.

The night had three DDT Vs NOAH matches and NOAH ended up with a clean sweep of victories. The big one was Kenoh defeating Daisuke Sasaki in a No DQ Match. It was a wild affair featuring interference from both DAMNATION T.A and Kongo, including Masakatsu Funaki cycling down the ramp and crashing into the wrong target. Even Yoshihiko showed up defending DDT’s honour only to get thrown out of the ring by Kenoh. Sasaki used a stun gun to prevent Kenoh from doing his Flame Kick. He then brought out a casket with thumbtacks sprinkled inside only to get slammed into it himself. Sasaki also missed a Diving Elbow Drop from the top of the ladder which cost him dearly. Kenoh had no such trouble and hit the P.F.S. Diving Stomp from the ladder to win. Afterwards backstage Kenoh explained his thoughts over DDT. He’s been calling DDT “School Wrestling” and wonders why they should feel ashamed of it? Why does DDT want to turn into a conservative mainstream wrestling company? They were built on being “Cultural Pro Wrestling” so they should have pride and confidence in being that. DDT was at its brightest when they understood it and that was how they could compete against New Japan, NOAH and All Japan. Kenoh thinks Sanshiro Takagi does not understand that and should be lucky to have a guy like Daisuke Sasaki who gets it. Sasaki blamed his loss on having to carry DDT on his back. If he fought selfishly for himself today’s result would have been very different. He says he will carry this shameful loss for the rest of his life, just like how Tetsuya Endo will carry his…

The second big DDT Vs NOAH match was the 6-Man Tag and it ended up becoming the most controversial story of the show. It was meant to be a big match with flashy entrances for everyone involved. Stories were built up pitting Kazusada Higuchi and Yoshiki Inamura against each other along with Jun Akiyama against Atsushi Kotoge. Then five minutes in we get to Tetsuya Endo against Katsuhiko Nakajima. There was an awkward looking moment when Nakajima held himself back against the ropes when Endo tried to drag him away from there. Endo threw a big kick to make him move then some Elbow Strikes. Nakajima responded with a big slap across the face, knocking Endo out and stopping the match! While Endo was getting medical assistance, Akiyama gave Nakajima a stern talking to with the other wrestlers looking on. Endo was still conscious but was helped carried to the back and diagnosed with a concussion. Akiyama criticised Nakajima in his post-match interview without naming him. He explained it doesn’t matter if you can take a strike to the temple if your opponent cannot. He was once told by Giant Baba that no matter what happens, in the end all wrestlers are friends in the same business. He doesn’t think that was the case here. He finished by saying let’s wrestle properly and do it right. I personally do not think it was Nakajima’s intention to knock out Endo but they were clearly not on the same page in the brief time they were in the ring together. I hope it was just a bad misread by Nakajima by trying to add tension to the match. Akiyama was the right person in the right place at the right time to prevent things from escalating further.

The big international guest for the show was Rob Van Dam. Today was his first time wrestling in Japan since 2014. He was on the winning team with Yoshinari Ogawa & HAYATA beating Kaito Kiyomiya, Daisuke Harada & YO-HEY in a 6-Man Tag Match. RVD even picked up the win by pinning Harada with the Five Star Frog Splash. Backstage RVD promised to come back next month. NOSAWA Rongai heard that and challenged him to a Hardcore Match with some of his friends at the Budokan show.

The main core of DDT’s tag team division provided an 8-Man Tag Match. DISASTER BOX & CDK joined forces to take on The 37KAMIINA plus Asuka. There was a massive pile on of Yuki Ueno on top of Asuka on top of Masahiro Takanashi on top of MAO on top of Naomi Yoshimura. The entire thing was then broken up by a Somato from HARASHIMA. MAO & Asuka took care of Chris Brookes with their Doomsday Shiranui double team. Shunma Katsumata tried to finish things off but HARASHIMA got him in the end with the Somato. Takanashi found it weird that wrestlers they feuded with not so long ago are here smiling with them today. Just goes to show when situations change so can certain alliances. The 37KAMIINA also agree they had a fun time and hoped the fans did too.

NOAH’s offer match was a 10-Man Tag Team bout pitting Japan against the world. The foreign team won when Michael Elgin pinned Daiki Inaba with the Elgin Bomb. Timothy Thatcher said if the match took place tomorrow the result may have been different. But today NOAH’s international team were blessed with good teamwork. Simon Gotch said NOAH has always had great foreign wrestlers and this team are part of the new history that will continue to bring in even more. Rene Dupree bragged about North America beating Japan today. The NOAH home team did not provide any post-match comments.

Shoko Nakajima’s next challenger for the Princess Title was determined in a 4 Way Match. Any idea of Daydream joining forces to wipe out the competition did not last long and the match quickly turned into every woman for herself. Miu Watanabe gave both Rika Tatsumi and Mizuki the Giant Swing together. Yuki Kamifuku later tried killing two birds with one stone by hitting the Famouser onto both Tatsumi & Mizuki at the same time. Watanabe jumped in and was ready to give Kamifuku the Tear Drop when Tatsumi broke it up with a Hip Attack. The match came down to the two Daydream wrestlers and Tatsumi came out on top with the Missile Hip to her partner. Tatsumi will now face Nakajima for the Princess Title at Ota Ward Gymnasium on 9th July. Kamifuku said she doesn’t need a championship for now. Instead she wants to fight the Cyber Japan Dancers who performed during intermission!

Pheromones are looking unstoppable once more thanks to their newest member Akito “Cochin” Nishigaki. He is all in on the gimmick, proving it is not an attempt to infiltrate the unit and destroy it from the inside. However their opponents had their own tricks to deal with, such as Kendo Kashin using a body double so he could attack from another angle. Yumiko Hotta got more than she bargained for and was sprayed with a fire extinguisher. Takagi gave Akito a Stunner but Akito stripped out of his costume to toughen up. He put Takagi in a Figure 4 Leg Lock and Yuki Iino sat on Takagi’s face for added damage, making him give up. Backstage Kashin asked for a rematch which Hotta & Shinya Aoki both agreed to. Takagi said maybe next year because his shoulder is bothering him. Kashin said it has to be this year. The four of them then crashed the Pheromones post-match interview to attack Yumehito Imanari and pull his pants down in front of the media.

Nivea sponsored the TJPW 6-Woman Tag Match and rewarded the winners with 10 years supply of their products. Hikari Noa, Suzume & Yuki Arai entered to the brand new TJPW theme song “Princess March” by Masayoshi Soken. Then Maki Itoh performed her theme song with 6 members of IQ Project before Miyu Yamashita & Juria Nagano made their entrance together. The experience of 121000000 was the deciding factor. Yamashita & Itoh took out Noa & Arai with a High Kick/Headbutt Sandwich. Yamashita then wiped out Suzume with the Skull Kick to get the three count. It is Nagano’s first win as a wrestler and Itoh joked about her getting rewarded with gifts from Nivea.

The opening match of the main show was the first DDT Vs NOAH bout of the event. It was between two teams of young wrestlers with Kinya Okada & Kai Fujimura from NOAH beating Toi Kojima & Yuya Koroku from DDT. Kojima & Koroku are both frustrated by the loss but still believe their form of training is not inferior to NOAH’s.

The STARTING BATTLE pre-show provided three dark matches involving DDT, TJPW and Ganbare☆Pro. The Ganpro team went to battle against Eruption but quickly got off on the wrong foot when Ken Ohka got rolled up in tape by his enemies once again. Yuna Manase tried to even the score by getting the better of Saki Akai with a Lariat. Mizuki Watase fought with Hideki Okatani but then turned his attention to Yukio Sakaguchi once Ohka got back into the action. Unfortunately for them, Eruption ended up with the numbers advantage and Sakaguchi choked out Watase with the Sleeper Hold to end the match. When Watase recovered he told Eruption he can continue fighting and began cutting his hair to prove it. Backstage Eruption said they will think about having more matches against Ganpro at Ganpro’s big show in Ota Ward on 10th July. Watase confronted them again and continued cutting off his hair to show how determined he is to fight them. Sakaguchi was convinced an agreed for Eruption to have another match against Ganpro at Ota Ward.

Mahiro Kiryu finally got her day in the sun by getting the win for her team in the TJPW 10-Woman Tag Match. It was an important match for some of the other women too. Kaya Toribami is celebrating finishing her first year as a pro wrestler. Raku was absent and missed by everyone, even by the opposing team. Her replacement YuuRI was disappointed to lose but would be happy to fight with the TJPW wrestlers again. Hyper Misao wanted to win before challenging for the Princess Tag Team Titles soon but still enjoyed her team today. She’d like the 5 of them to do something together again, like have a 5 Way Match! Pom Harajuku was just upset her summer is ending already because she took the fall.

DDT provided the very first match of the day inside the venue when Muscle Sakai & Yukio Naya took on Soma Takao & Kazuki Hirata. Sakai took Kenoh’s criticisms of DDT to heart and wanted to wrestle seriously. He declined a dance battle with Hirata until he was given the Hirata GO! glasses. Takao cut the dancing short so he could continue the match with Naya. Hirata almost pinned Naya with an Inside Cradle but Naya kicked out. He then delivered a Back Drop to Hirata and pinned him Yuji Hino style to get the win. Hirata said he didn’t expect Muscle Sakai of all people to come in wanting to do an exciting match.

Perhaps the biggest news of all to come out of the show was Keiji Muto’s announcement. He once called pro wrestling a marathon without a finishing line but the time has finally come for him to finish. He is going to retire next spring and is planning to wrestle only a few more matches before his career is over. His doctor told him the condition of his left hip is becoming bad and he may need to replace it with an artificial joint. Should he need a hip replacement he will no longer be able to wrestle even though he still wants to. Muto is still thinking of where and when his retirement will take place along with exactly how many more matches he will do before then. He also said The Great Muta may reappear once or twice more but when the Demon Gate to his world closes, it will this time close for good.

The entire event was not just about the pro wrestling show. There was a festival set up around the venue for fans to experience everything about the different CyberFight promotions. I could not find many details but apparently Gake no Fuchi Pro had a stall set up where Miyako Matsumoto held a meet and greet but it was taken over by Prominence.

10. Princess Of Princess Title: Shoko Nakajima (c) Vs Yuka Sakazaki
11. GHC Heavyweight Title: Go Shiozaki (c) Vs Satoshi Kojima

According to Satoshi Kojima “various coincidences” led him to challenging for the GHC Heavyweight Title. He believes it is inevitable he will win the championship. Go Shiozaki is only thinking about defending the title and is not letting the grand occasion get to him.

The Princess Of Princess Title match has been decided. Shoko Nakajima nominates Yuka Sakazaki as her challenger. Her reason is because Sakazaki and Miyu Yamashita are seen as the two top wrestlers in Tokyo Joshi Pro. Nakajima thinks she has to beat both of them in championship matches in order to finally surpass them. Also Sakazaki is currently wrestling in the United States so she is going to come back a much stronger wrestler than before. If that is not enough, Nakajima remembers when she lost to Sakazaki in their previous Princess Title match together in Sumo Hall back in 2019. So there is a little bit of revenge fueling this decision. Nakajima is certain this will be the best match of her career so far and it makes her happy that it will happen at a big venue like Saitama Super Arena.

At the press conference for this show Kenoh went off the handle over NOAH having to share the spotlight with the rest of the CyberFight promotions. The one thing that pissed him off in particular is the back page advert on every issue of Weekly Pro-Wrestling magazine always being reserved for DDT, TJPW and Ganbare☆Pro instead of NOAH. He decided it is now up to him to advertise NOAH and he did so by attacking Daisuke Sasaki. He gave Sasaki a Diving Double Stomp off of a table and then set his boot on fire to deliver a flaming kick to Sasaki’s head!

The idea to put Kazusada Higuchi on the same team as two BURNING wrestlers did not make him happy. He doesn’t understand why he has to team up with Tetsuya Endo & Jun Akiyama so he is going to beat NOAH his own way instead of with them. Akiyama is trying to get him on the same page because they will need to co-exist in order to beat any team with Naomichi Marufuji on it. Endo is ready to fight even though he does not have a KO-D Openweight Title defence on the card. He is excited to use his genius to overthrow Marufuji. However Marufuji is more interested in seeing how Atsushi Kotoge & Yoshiki Inamura will fare against the DDT team. Inamura wants to get revenge for his disappointing performance against Akiyama at Budokan Hall two years ago. Kotoge is carrying the weight of NOAH’s Jr. Heavyweight division by taking part in this match.

Kaito Kiyomiya is thankful for the opportunity to wrestle against a world class athlete like Rob Van Dam. He wants to show fans all over the world the power of this generation of Japanese pro wrestling.

The mystery X wrestler in the NOAH 10-Man Tag Match will be revealed on 7th June.

The winner of the TJPW 4 Way Match will get a Princess Title shot at “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’22” in Ota Ward Gymnasium on 9th July.

———————————————————————–

So now that is all out of the way, let’s try and figure this out because the full card leaves me scratching my head. Sakazaki getting the Princess Title shot was correctly guessed by some online when nobody came out to challenge Nakajima at the end of TJPW’s last Korakuen Hall show. Those people figured out that Sakazaki probably would have walked down to the ring had she not suddenly got a flight to catch. Also the last time Sakazaki challenge for the Princess Title was at the previous CyberFight Festival one year ago. It’s a good matchup, probably even a great matchup but one that feels too familiar because we’re cycling through the same faces again. The addition of a 4 Way Match to pick the next contender is a fresh idea. Even if the likely result is Rika Tatsumi or Mizuki winning, either of them against Nakajima for a singles title hasn’t been done yet. Mizuki becoming the next Princess Champion would be a long time coming in my opinion and would break the Cycle Of The Three Princesses. However Tatsumi winning and becoming champ would turn it into the Cycle Of The Four Princesses. It doesn’t really solve the problem that the Princess Title will remain focused on the same people as always.

Next, there’s no KO-D Title match? Tetsuya Endo’s position on the show is for an All-Star DDT Vs NOAH trios match, which isn’t bad per se but still leaves the top of the card looking a little lackluster. For the moment his next schedule title defence is not until August. June will be focused on the King Of DDT tournament so unless he finds an opponent for July the KO-D Title is going to be iced for most of the summer. I don’t know if a plan fell through or if the timing of this show just doesn’t give them much material to work with. Was there nobody on the NOAH side they could get for an interpromotional title match who would be happy to put someone else over? Oh wait…… Yeah don’t answer that.

I will say the build for Sasaki Vs Kenoh has been great so far and is an inspired choice for a big DDT Vs NOAH singles match. Watch their angle at the press conference because it’s not just the fire spot that was good about it. Kenoh being the Frank Grimes to DDT’s Homer Simpson can carry the concept of CyberFight Festival by itself for years to come. There’s one problem though. Where on earth is the rest of Kongo? Their only other involvement in the build up to the show is a preview 6-Man Tag match against DAMNATION T.A on the 30th May NOAH event. Something weird is going on if most of the group is not at Saitama Super Arena on 12th June. Imagine if they gatecrash Osaka Jo Hall on behalf of NOAH that day instead?

Kazusada Higuchi Vs Yoshiki Inamura is also happening on the 30th May show to build up their trios match. Might be a sign there is truth to the rumours that the top people in CyberFight weren’t happy about the lack of crossover between NOAH and DDT while NOSAWA Rongai was in charge of NOAH’s match making. Their complaint was why should they spend so much time and resources building bridges with New Japan and DRAGONATE when DDT is right there beside them? I’d be certain of it if more interpromotional matches take place after CyberFight Festival concludes. There’s a whole summer of tournaments coming up for both promotions that need fresh names added to it.

The lack of major crossover between the four promotions is the last problem I have about the lineup. The self-contained matches aren’t that bad on paper, I mean my God look at that Pheromones match. That wouldn’t be out of place on any DDT supershow even with the special guests on Sanshiro Takagi’s team. The TJPW trios match and the DDT Vs NOAH rookies match should both be fun. Eruption Vs Ganpro is a match I think would turn out so much better if it was in Korakuen Hall with one team having the audience on their side (Ganpro as the home team would make the most sense in this situation). I would have loved to see more TJPW Vs Ganbare☆Joshi or even a mixed tag of some sort to get NOAH and TJPW interacting with each other. That CyberFight advert with Kenoh and Mizuki positioned next to each other looking like bratty siblings has been stuck in my head ever since I first saw it.
