Some of the previous Tokyo Princess Cup winners are starting to fall after the first set of Round 2 matches took place today. The main event was a rematch five years in the making. Miyu Yamashita and Rika Tatsumi have not had a proper singles match together since the pandemic days of empty arena wrestling. Last year’s Princess Cup had the course set for them to meet up but it never shook out that way. This year was finally the time for the fated match to take place. Yamashita got a nearfall after a Running High Kick followed by the Attitude Adjustment. Tatsumi caught the Skull Kick, countered it into a Dragon Screw and did the Sliding Hip Attack for her own nearfall. Tatsumi then avoided the Crash Rabbit Heat and jumped onto Yamashita’s back to apply a Sleeper Hold. From there she turned it into the Dragon Sleeper and moved Yamashita away from the ropes. Once she transitioned over to the White Dragon Sleeper, Yamashita gave up. After the match Tatsumi said she never beat Yamashita in their previous bouts and was starting to think she could never beat her. But now that she won today’s boss battle she now believes she can win the whole tournament! Backstage Yamashita said she falls in love with pro wrestling ever more whenever she wrestles Tatsumi. She also loves Tatsumi’s heart both as a wrestler and as a person. She also acknowledged losing a lot of significant singles matches lately. It is a challenge she will need to address especially since she currently holds the EVE International Title.

The other previous Princess Cup winner to get eliminated today was Mizuki at the hands of Hyper Misao! Before the match begun, Misao handed Mizuki a love letter for her to read out loud. The letter said Misao has done so many shameful things in her career that it gave everyone the impression that she would do something underhanded whenever she speaks on the microphone. She is so disgusted with herself that she will never do anything underhanded again starting with today’s match. She even wrote that she made this letter because she knew Mizuki wouldn’t believe her if she told her face to face. When Mizuki finished reading, the two shook hands but Mizuki tried to kick Misao. It was caught and Misao let her go, only to attack her from behind while the bell was being rung to start the match. She then pulled her cape over Mizuki’s head, undid a turnbuckle pad to use as a weapon against her and even wrapped Mizuki up in the ring apron outside. Mizuki tried her best to overcome the cheating but once she did, Misao ended up catching her with La Magistral Cradle for the win! Mizuki later wanted to rip the love letter to pieces but had a change of heart. Instead she promises beat Misao next time, return the letter to her and tell her she doesn’t need it. Misao admits the result might have been a miracle but a win is still a win. She thinks more summer miracles will come her way too. Except she got the unlucky draw of facing Rika Tatsumi in the Quarter Finals. According to Tatsumi, Misao is her nemesis. Misao is also taking this match seriously because the result will determine which course her pro wrestling life will take her next.

This year is HIMAWARI’s first proper go at entering the Princess Cup and she’s making the most of it so far. She might have taken Wakana Uehara’s run from last year and used that kind of performance to eliminate Uehara herself! The two were evenly matched enough to get into a battle of Elbow Smashes near the end. Uehara got an upper hand using an Ezuigiri but when she went for the Sushi Tornado, HIMAWARI instead dragged her down to the mat and put her in the Single Leg Crab Hold for the tap out victory. Uehara cannot believe that she won’t become the main character of the summer. She finds the taste of HIMAWARI to be so bitter and awful. HIMAWARI said this win is revenge for losing to Uehara in the Next Generation Tournament ’23 final. Today she got to show all the growth she’s made in the last two years and eight months since that match!

The hometown advantage sadly wasn’t enough for Chika Nanase to beat Arisu Endo. She psyched herself up while hitting Endo with a Shoulder Thrust through the ropes that knocked Endo out of the ring. But Nanase couldn’t lock in the Inari Torii Kai when she had to and Endo punished her for it with a Super Kick and the Waterwheel Drop. There was no hope for Nanase after that and Endo made her submit to the Camel Clutch. Nanase said she felt honored to have her first Princess Cup match this year in her hometown and wanted to win no matter who her opponent was. But she discovered just how amazing Endo is first hand so it was a frustrating experience despite also being an incredibly fun one. Endo likes how Nanase always gets back up no matter how often she gets knocked down so she would love to fight her again. For now though her eyes are set on HIMAWARI in the next round. She heard HIMAWARI describe herself as a “Yellow Arisu Endo”. The real Endo is going to make HIMAWARI regret growing her hair out so long.

In one of the non-tournament matches, Pom Harajuku taunted Yuki Arai while sitting on her by grabbing the playoff bracket display from nearby and pointing to their upcoming match in the corner of the board. Harakuku then tried to attack Arai with the display but Arai dodged it.

33 year old Yuki Kamifuku came to grips with her own mortality when she found out the ages of her opponents in the opening match. When Haru Kazashiro, Uta Takami & Momo Sato all said they were 18, 19 and 15 respectively Kamifuku suffered great mental damage and briefly fell into a heap.

There was nothing really shocking coming out of the first round but Round 2 of the Tokyo Princess Cup is going to serve up a few big casualties. One half of the bracket will be getting ready for Saturday where Miyu Yamashita and Rika Tatsumi will have their first single match against each other since the summer of 2021.

One of the non-tournament matches is purposely pitting Yuki Kamifuku against the trio of teenagers. She’s either going to teach them all a valuable lesson or spend the match battling the reality of aging.

Tokyo Princess Cup 2026 Brackets

Today in Abema Towers the draw for this year’s Tokyo Princess Cup took place with Rise Shirai looking over the proceedings. Twenty of the twenty four competitors were in attendance to choose a number out of random envelopes and match up together to reveal the full playoff bracket. Those who were missing from the event were Pom Harajuku, Wakana Uehara, Mifu Ashida and the yet to debut Momo Sato. Shirai picked their envelopes and revealed their spots first before any of the wrestlers in attendance got to choose their own.

The entire 1st Round will be held in Shizuoka to kick off the tournament. Uta Takami drew Miyu Yamashita so she feels terrified while also thinking she’s hit the jackpot. Yamashita is an opponent Takami really wants to challenge but at her current state she believes a match between them could only be put together by a lottery. It will be dangerous but Takami does not want to set limits for herself. Yamashita admits she is not very good when fighting against Takami’s fighting style so she’s going to be careful when she tries to crush her.

If you would like to know the combined brain power of Raku and Mizuki, the two accidentally headbutted each other from bowing after their match was revealed. Raku also said that Mizuki sleeps with her eyes open and wants to know if all rabbits do that? She’ll be careful against her either way. Mizuki hasn’t been happy with her tournament results lately and came to the conclusion it is because she is too much of an angel. This year she would like to act like a bit of a devil and wake Raku up!

Last year’s finalist Arisu Endo is now looking to become No. 1! She still remembers the time she first fought Sakura Hattori back when the ninja was known as Kaya Toribami. Endo lost that match and it also happened to be Toribami’s first ever singles victory. Endo has promised to get revenge for that loss by beating Hattori in the first round! Hattori said it does not matter who her opponent is because she is superior against anybody. She has her own defeats against Endo that she wants to avenge, the most recent being from this year’s Max Heart Tournament.

Neither Wakana Uehara or Mifu Ashida were at the press conference so they weren’t able to give their thoughts about facing each other in Round 1. This will be Ashida’s first proper go at the Princess Cup because last year she failed to get out of the Preliminary League qualifiers. Uehara did get past the league and reached the Quarter Final before getting eliminated. Given the changes for this year she doesn’t need to win as many matches this time around to reach the same stage.

The way the brackets have been put together can be split apart in A, B, C & D Blocks. Toga thinks the C Block that she belongs too is full of power fighters so she isn’t exactly confident of her chances of advancing past everyone else. She doesn’t know what to expect of her opponent Momo Sato either because it will be Sato’s next first match after her debut takes place.

Miu Watanabe is looking to make it two in a row as she gears up to defend her crown. Last year’s winner wants to shine like a princess for the rest of the summer again. Ren Konatsu is looking forward to facing her in Round 1. There are five people in particular she wants to wrestle and Watanabe is one of them. It’s also taking place in her hometown of Hamamatsu so the stage is set for her to become the next princess of the summer by beating the current one!

It’s going to be a first time ever singles match between Suzume and Shion Kanzaki. Suzume warns her opponent that hornets are at their most aggressive in the summertime. Suzume doesn’t have much Princess Cup success to brag about which only makes her more motivated to burst through the early rounds and show everyone the true power of the hornet. Kanzaki is nervous about her tournament debut but doesn’t want fans to think she will bow out right away in the opening round. She’ll do her best to beat Suzume and advance.

The bottom right of the bracket corner is the block to watch out for in Round 1. Haru Kazashiro meets Yuki Arai and for her third tournament appearance her confidence is very high compared to the previous two years. She’s been watching Kamen Rider OOO recently and has been inspired by the hero Eiji because he once said if something is within reach and he never reached out to grab it then he would regret it. Kazashiro is following those words so she can live a summer without regrets. Arai loves that sparkly behaviour from her which is why she wants to take a lethal dose of that youthful energy for herself so she can sparkle even more too.

In recent years Rika Tatsumi has grown to like the summer after always hating it beforehand. So this year she has put it upon herself to win the Princess Cup and become the “Summer Girl” Rika Tatsumi. She’s worried that Yamashita might ruin those plans though. Last year Yamashita let everyone know that she would love to face Tatsumi in the tournament because they haven’t had a singles match together since 2021. It never happened because Tatsumi got knocked out in the first round. Tatsumi doesn’t like that the opportunity for the match to happen has reappeared again so she is rooting for Takami to beat Yamashita instead.

No matter who she faces in Round 2, Hyper Misao thinks she is going into a hellish situation because Raku and Mizuki are both real troublemakers. But Misao is a superhero and if she can make it through a hellish summer like this then she can become a really, really, really strong hero. In fact if it was up to her she would have wanted to start in Round 1 so she can win five matches on the way to winning the Princess Cup instead of four. Mizuki then called out Misao for lying.

For a tournament named after Tokyo it sure is starting to be held in Osaka more often. Chika Nanase is happy with that because she gets to start her tournament in her hometown. That surge of energy is going to get her ready for either Endo or Hattori.

HIMAWARI didn’t have Uehara or Ashida around to bounce off of so she tried to think of things they would say if they were here. She thinks Uehara would talk about devouring the competition while Ashida would be cheering and shouting “Woohoo!” HIMAWARI says when you think of summer you will think of her so she is going to bloom the brightest and win the tournament.

How can you be born in July but have a terrible lack of success during the summertime? That’s the plight Mahiro Kiryu faces every time she enters the Princess Cup. She’s supposed to be a summer girl but she’s never gotten to be one. If there is ever a time for her to solve this problem it is now! Maybe the sun will finally start shining on her when she steps into the ring to face either Toga or Sato in Round 2.

Yuki Aino is still feeling the pain of getting eliminated in the first round last year so she is hesitant about saying she will go all out from the start again. She also remembers her failure to beat Watanabe for the Princess Of Princess Title last year so she doesn’t want to claim she can definitely beat her either should she be her opponent in Round 2. Even stating that she can beat Konatsu is not something Aino is comfortable with saying at the moment. Instead the message she wants to give today is she will knock everyone out so she can reach the dream stage that is the Princess Cup final again.

Pom Harajuku wasn’t there so there’s nothing from her about potentially facing Suzume or Shion Kanzaki in Round 2. She is back in the Princess Cup after failing to qualify last year. Her record here is pretty abysmal to be honest with only one previous win in the contest. You can’t even include a Preliminary League win from last year because that one was by forfeit.

As the one remaining wrestler to have competed in every single Princess Cup to date, Shoko Nakajima is spoiled for choice when it comes to her Round 2 opponent. She gets either the current Princess Champion at the time of this draw happening or a first time singles match with Kazashiro. All three of them would like to wrestle each other in the tournament so Nakajima told Arai and Kazashiro to figure out a way where they can both win so they can all do a 3 Way Match together in Round 2!

I’m writing this on the same afternoon the Quarter Finals of the World Cup are beginning. Arai is France but is Yamashita Argentina? Can Tatsumi be like England and bring it home? Is Suzume Norway and therefore the next lineal holder of Hatsune Miku? Does that make Nakajima Spain somehow? Is Morocco better suited to Endo, Kazashiro or Takami? Will Misao save an entire sport like Belgium did? No matter what, Kiryu has the same chances as Switzerland.

The Princess Cup is always promoted by Tokyo Joshi Pro as their equivalent to the annual Summer Koshien high school baseball tournament. So it is only fitting that this year’s Princess Cup final takes place in the same weekend as the Koshien final.

Tokyo Princess Cup 2026

A roster of 24 participants will be competing in the 13th annual Tokyo Princess Cup this summer and unlike last year there is no qualifying round needed for the junior members of the roster to earn their spot. Instead an extra round has been tacked onto the bracket so it is possible that the eventual winner of the tournament would have needed to win five matches rather than four depending on where their starting point is. The bracket will be randomly determined by a lottery to be held at a future date.

The “Prince Of Nagoya” is one day away from coming home and after today he is feeling pretty good about his chances of winning the KO-D Tag Team Titles tomorrow. He was put in an Octopus Hold by Antonio Honda but Yuki Ueno broke it up with a Shining Wizard. Then the two of them gave Honda the My MADMAX before To-y finished him off with the Kojima Impact. Afterwards To-y talked on the microphone about enjoying these kind of intense matches because he is the strongest. However, Chris Brookes brought him back down to Earth by reminding him that he is the only wrestler in the title match tomorrow who is not already a champion. Ueno cheered To-y up by giving him a prediction for the next East Vs West themed show taking place in Osaka this August. Ueno predicts he and To-y will cross boundaries together and fight for the tag titles on that show! To-y thought about going one further by giving a prediction of his own but stopped himself, deciding to live in the present instead.

All of paleyouth were attacked by DAMNATION T.A after Match #5. Ilusion gave Takeshi Masada a Low Blow while Daisuke Sasaki & MJ Paul attacked everyone with chairs. Ilusion got on the microphone to demand Masada hand the belts over and start his career over as a trainee. He then knocked out Masada with a belt shot to the head. The three paleyouth wrestlers all had to be helped out of the ring after the attack.

The bright and energetic Junta Miyawaki might be met with a cold reality tomorrow. After his match he said he wants to win the DDT Extreme Title from Hideki Okatani because it looks so shiny. Without much emotion Okatani told Miyawaki he is just somebody who does not know when to give up. So for tomorrow’s I Quit match he will not even allow Miyawaki to give up!

The attack on paleyouth was part of an unlucky day for Yuya Koroku. He thought he had won the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title earlier in the show when he beat Kazuki Hirata in a tag match. Danshoku Dieno was part of the match and he stripped out of his tights during it. Hirata grabbed the tights and tried to smother Koroku with them but Koroku defended himself and knocked down Hirata with an Elbow Strike. He jumped on top for the pin and got the three count but was not rewarded with the championship. Yukinori Matsui noticed the pair of tights was beneath Koroku and on top of Hirata during the pin so he decided it was Danshoku Dieno’s Tights that pinned Hirata and won the Iron Man Title!

The officiating whenever that happens during matches leaves a lot to be desired and Takagi has lost all faith in the DDT referees ever doing anything about it. So for Takagi’s upcoming match with MAO in Korakuen Hall there will not be any referees involved at all! Instead it will be up to the audience to count the pinfalls in unison and if the majority get to three in sync, that will decide the winner. Other than that the match will be No DQ and have no countouts. We cannot trust a room of 1,000 people to all be able to count up to 20 by themselves at the same time without the proper guidance present.

Watase’s decision to do that match has pushed back his plan to challenge The Deadlock for the Spirit Of Ganbare Tag Team Titles. That gives Ken Ohka & Guts Ishijima the chance to step in and grab the shot for themselves.

The two singles matches underneath could end up being previews for a non-existent match down the line. The further Daisuke Sasaki moves on from Best Of The Super Jr. the better. At least he doesn’t have to think about the tournament again for another 14 years. Now he can think about defending the O-40 Title with two opponents now chosen for the next title bout. Shuji Ishikawa and Keisuke Ishii both fit the bill so Sasaki will be fighting both in a 3 Way Match.

Ryunosuke Nagai is the 29 year old son of Mitsuya Nagai. He his pro debut last December and is showing up to “CHARISMANIA IV” for a match against MJ Paul.

The remaining lineup of the show at the moment is Hideki Okatani, Ilusion, Minoru Fujita, Yasu Urano, Sangre Aztca Jr. and Naohiro Katsumi.

We’re approaching the match that will either break the cycle or just start it all over again. Yuki Arai will be next defending the Princess Of Princess Title against Miyu Yamashita. In recent memory Yamashita once beat Arai in just over a minute but Arai then got to make Yamashita tap out in a 6 Way No. 1 Contender’s match that eventually led Arai to becoming the champion. With that said, Arai does not feel like she can call herself the true champion unless she can beat Yamashita one on one. Yamashita is coming into this match having just won the EVE International Title in England. Doing that made her want to win back the Princess Title even more. Is there no end to her insatiable desire for winning that championship again?!?

Last year’s “SUMMER SUN PRINCESS” had Kyoraku Kyomei beating Daydream in a defence of the Princess Tag Team Titles. This time around Daydream are the champs and they want a rematch at the show to avenge that defeat. The only problem is Kyoraku Kyomei do not want to challenge for the belts right now because they do not feel it is the right time to do so. They couldn’t win the titles in Las Vegas earlier this year and they don’t feel ready to climb that mountain again this soon. Daydream wants the match to happen anyway and it looks like they got their way. Protests from Nakajima & Misao may be on the way unless something happens to change their minds.

There’s no such trepidation in regards to the International Princess Title match though. Wakana Uehara is hungry to become the champion and isn’t shy about making puns about her appetite when it comes to challenging Suzume for the championship.

4. Yuki Aino & Haru Kazashiro defeated HIMAWARI & Chika Nanase when Kazashiro submitted Nanase with the Izayoi (10:38).
5. Miyu Yamashita & Toga defeated Shoko Nakajima & Wakana Uehara when Toga pinned Uehara with the Absolute Zero (12:36).
6. Yuki Arai, Miu Watanabe, Rika Tatsumi & Suzume defeated Yuki Kamifuku, Mizuki, Uta Takami & Mahiro Kiryu when Tatsumi submitted Takami with the White Dragon Sleeper (16:28).

The rematch from last week has gone to the champions this time. Suzume caught Mahiro Kiryu with the Ring A Bell, Yuki Arai used her Modified Brainbuster to deal with Yuki Kamifuku and Daydream finished off both Mizuki & Uta Takami. Takami was hit with the Running Hip and Miu Watanabe then joined Rika Tatsumi to give Mizuki the Daydream Eternity. Takami made the fatal mistake of charging towards Tatsumi after that because Tatsumi grabbed her into the White Dragon Sleeper to get the win. Tatsumi said it felt great to win the match and she hopes the result leaves everyone on the challenger team feeling disheartened. Watanabe wanted much more action today so she is looking forward to the Korakuen Hall show. Arai thinks she wasn’t able to kick Kamifuku nearly enough so she promised to kick her face off at Korakuen on 7th June. Suzume wants everyone on the champion team to regroup after that show so they can all stand together as champions again. Backstage Tatsumi was pleased to have taken down the “Koala Alien” today but she will also have to beat Mizuki too in order to free her from Takami’s “brainwashing”. Kiryu described Suzume as being in super battle mode, ready to sting her at any moment.

With their singles match coming up on 7th June, Wakana Uehara and Toga were primarily focused on trying to beat each other in their tag match. Uehara countered the Absolute Zero into a Jackknife Pin but it only got her a nearfall. Toga did one better by countering the Sushi Tornado into the Absolute Zero, dishing out enough damage to pin Uehara for the three count. Uehara said she lost the tag match today but she won’t lose to Toga in a singles match. Toga pointed out today is the first time she defeated Uehara under her own power, although it was still part of a tag match. Next time when it’s one on one she is going for the complete victory. She expects Uehara to come up with more counters after today just like Toga is preparing more for her.

Kira Summer deciding to become a superhero just like Hyper Misao wasn’t interesting enough to keep Raku & Pom Harajuku’s attention. The two of them snuck off up to the balcony while Misao introduced Summer wearing her own hero costume (wearing an eye mask and using the Australian flag as her cape). The two heroes followed their opponents up to the balcony where they got trapped under a banner and almost counted out of the match. They got back to the ring in time but Harajuku then stole Misao’s cape so she too pretended to be a superhero. Misao got it back by spraying Harajuku in the face. Raku stopped Misao from doing the I Am A Hero, allowing Harajuku to pin Summer with the Pom de Justice.

About time Chika Nanase gets a chance to prove herself on a bigger stage. YuuRI is stopping by Tokyo Joshi Pro to give her a match in Korakuen Hall.

TJPW already announced that Sumire Uesaka will be a special guest commentator on the show. Now we know the reason why. She is currently involved with running a vampire school themed café called Twilight Rouge and the café is going to be sponsoring the 3 Way Tag Match. The winning team will receive “1,000,000 R”, which is the gimmick currency used by the café (R meaning Rouge in this case). Uesaka along with several vampires from the café will present the prize to the winners after the match.

Uesaka is also currently the reigning Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion and earlier this week she had to juggle that responsibility with her café gig. Antonio Honda barged into the café a couple of days ago intending to beat Uesaka for the belt. However Uesaka protected herself by using vampire magic to hypnotise Honda and make him enjoy a drink on the premises instead. Then Uesaka gave Honda a message to go and tell everyone: “The portal to Twilight Rouge leads straight to the Demon Realm!”

Minoru Suzuki is one step away from equaling the likes of T-Hawk and Yuji Hino as outsiders who reached the final in their first tournament entry.

The alleged future “Prince Of Nagoya” To-y wants to challenge for the KO-D Tag Team Titles and got the shot when he promised Yuki Ueno would be his tag partner. Chris Brookes is pretty confident that To-y won’t be able to beat him or HARASHIMA for the belts.

As part of Junta Miyawaki’s journey through DDT he wants to try and win the championship that bests represents DDT as a one of a kind company. That means he is going after the DDT Extreme Title. He also now has to prove to Hideki Okatani that he wants to be here and he wasn’t kicked out of NOAH.
