6. Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title: Yuji Nagata (c) defeated Satoshi Kojima with the Back Drop Hold (13:28).
*V? for Yuji Nagata.
-. Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title: Sanshiro Takagi defeated Yuji Nagata (c) with a Cradle (9:10 pm).
*Sanshiro Takagi becomes the 1,912th champion.

The last time Yuji Nagata and Satoshi Kojima had a singles match against each other was eleven years ago at the 2015 G1 Climax. Today stood across the ring from each other as part of the Shinjuku FACE Countdown Series. An added bonus was Nagata being the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion going into the match (he very briefly lost it and won it back from Manabu Nakanishi during an interview for his Youtube channel during the week) which meant the main event now had a title on the line. This was treated as a much bigger deal than previous Iron Man Title bouts because Shuichi Nishinaga from NOAH was brought in to be the referee, Fumihito Kihara formerly of All Japan was the special ring announcer and Masayuki Uchida was part of the pre-match ceremony.

Nagata defeated Kojima to successfully defend the title by using a Kneel Kick, an Enzuigiri and then the Back Drop Hold for the three count. He thanked the fans afterward because their cheers gave him strength. He also told Kojima to continue doing his best because the two of them are the last remaining wrestlers from New Japan’s “Third Generation” that are still active. Sanshiro Takagi then gathered everyone together to close out the show. Since this is Super Japan’s final show in Shinjuku FACE, Takagi hopes the promotion will find a new venue to continue running shows with Nagata as the company ace. Suddenly when Nagata was saying his catchphrase, his young lion at ringside Tatsuya Matsumoto tried to roll him up to win the title! Nagata kicked out but was so distracted by what happened that Takagi then rolled him up and got the pinfall to become the new champion.

Years of traumatic history hung over Ken Ohka’s match with CIMA. Ohka, believe it or not, was originally a Toryumon student way back in the day but flunked out of there and never debuted for the promotion. His failure put him in a dark place but he continued to seek out a pro wrestling career because he loves it so much. He knows CIMA has gone through some rough times too so he encouraged him to keep wrestling even if his limbs ever stop working. CIMA admitted he’s been scammed four times in his life and the most recent was a wire transfer scam that many other people fall for. He joked that he holds the record for the highest financial loss in history.

Fuminori Abe got a little too giddy over the occasion and told everyone during his match he would spray paint the word “Anal” onto the wall. He lived up to his word. He was apologetic about it at the end of the show and promised to clean off the graffiti. I don’t know if he properly cleaned it away but he at least sprayed more paint on the wall to cover up the word.

If Kuroshio TOKYO Japan was going to team up with Yuki Kamifuku, he was going to do it on Kamiyu’s terms. She pulled off Kuroshio’s jacket before the match and made him wear her own entrance jacket. He asked everyone if he looked cute but Saira in particular said no. Kuroshio later grabbed Saira into a Full Nelson and told Kamifuku to call her ugly but she refused. Saira damaged Kuroshio’s ego further when he had a dance off with Kumadori and Saira said Kumadori looked cooler. Kuroshio hit her with an Enzuigiri and also knocked down Kamifuku so the match would just be between him and Kumadori. Kamifuku got revenge by giving her tag partner the Diving Famouser. The other team followed up with Saira hitting the Sky Twister Press followed by Kumadori doing the Corkscrew Senton for the victory.

7. 13th Tokyo Princess Cup – Round 2A: Miyu Yamashita Vs Rika Tatsumi

There was nothing really shocking coming out of the first round but Round 2 of the Tokyo Princess Cup is going to serve up a few big casualties. One half of the bracket will be getting ready for Saturday where Miyu Yamashita and Rika Tatsumi will have their first single match against each other since the summer of 2021.

One of the non-tournament matches is purposely pitting Yuki Kamifuku against the trio of teenagers. She’s either going to teach them all a valuable lesson or spend the match battling the reality of aging.

DDT “MEMORIES OF SUMMER VACATION 2026”, 05/08/2026
Shinjuku FACE

1. Special Single Match: Danshoku Dieno Vs Kazuki Hirata
2. Special Tag Match: Sanshiro Takagi & Naomi Yoshimura Vs Ilusion & Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion

This wll be the last DDT show before “WRESTLE PETER PAN 2026” and likely where we find out who will go into the show as the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion. Whoever the champion is must first take part in a tag match with Ilusion as their tag partner. If the champion is a wrestler who is already on the show then they must still compete in the match, therefore becoming double booked! But what will happen if the champion turns out to be either Sanshiro Takagi or Naomi Yoshimura?
