5. Ring Removal Death Match: HARASHIMA, Danshoku Dieno & Kazuki Hirata defeated Shunma Katsumata, To-y & Yuni when Dieno pinned Yuni with the Danshoku Driver onto the pile of Cans (23:47).

Taking a page from Michinoku Pro’s annual Great Space War, DDT tried doing a Ring Removal Death Match for the first time today. From the moment the bell rang, a cleanup crew of wrestlers all began to deconstruct the ring while the actual match participants tried to fight each other without getting in the way. The environment became more dangerous as the match progressed because the ring got more bare. Danshoku Dieno tried to put the ring back together then started arguing with the cleanup crew, causing Akito to add a new rule. The crew would be paid double for the day and be treated to an all you can eat meal if they could complete the deconstruction before the match ends! Also the match was now Falls Count Anywhere because the fighting was breaking out into the audience anyway. The ring was taken down to just one last corner post but when Yuya Koroku directed everyone to carry it out, a mystery figure appeared and knocked him out with a hammer. It was Kazuki Hirata and he pinned Koroku to win back the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title! With no ring left, Dieno had to resort to giving Yuni the Danshoku Driver onto a pile of beer cans nearby to win the match. His team was rewarded with a year long exemption from being in the cleanup crew for DDT events held inside Ueno Park.

News came on short notice that Daisuke Sasaki would not be at the show today. Overnight he remembered a news story from 1993 about a crocodile being sighted at Shakujii Park in Nerima Ward. He thought about it all night and didn’t get enough sleep to be able to wrestle today. His replacement was Crocodile D Sasa but the costume was eventually ripped off to reveal it was Sasaki all along. The match itself had Strange Love Connection and DAMNATION T.A all fighting each other around rubber pools filled with inflatable crocodiles. Hideki Okatani briefly disappeared only to return with somebody dressed in a horse costume. That was somehow the difference maker.

There were other Iron Man Title changes that happened earlier on the show. Daichi Sato rolled up his partner Koroku and got a three count but because he was also holding Bunbun at the time, Yukinori Matsui declared it was Bunbun who pinned Koroku and was now the champion! Antonio Honda later fought Bunbun during the actual match and pinned the puppet with the Tenzan Tombstone Driver. Koroku then submitted Honda to win back the belt and held onto it until Hammer Hirata’s attack during the main event.

Rukiya was in the corner coaching and cheering on Hinata Kasai for Kasai’s match with Yuki Ueno. Sadly it did not result in Kasai getting his first victory. At the end of the show Kasai and Rukiya looked like they were going to fight each other but instead they embraced and bowed to the fans.

6. Falls Count Anywhere 4 Way Tag Match: Chris Brookes & HARASHIMA defeated Yuki Ueno & To-y, Sanshiro Takagi & Jun Akiyama and MAO & KANON (w/ KIMIHIRO) when HARASHIMA pinned To-y with the Somato (17:51).

For the fourth time in six years MAO has run over his boss Sanshiro Takagi with a van! The first of this week’s Beer Garden shows featured a wild Falls Count Anywhere main event that included Jun Akiyama crashing a bicycle into a castle made of chairs, the above mentioned MAO driving a vehicle into Takagi and To-y falling off the top of a ladder in shock of seeing the car accident. That last bit cost his the match because it let HARASHIMA hit him with the Somato aftwards for the victory.

Takagi got so mad at MAO over what happened that his anger spread over to the officiating. He can no longer trust any of the referees so his match with MAO on 28th June will now become a No Referee Match! MAO was confused as Takagi tried to figure out on the spot what that means. It means it will now be up to the audience to count the pinfalls and determine the winner! MAO loves the idea because he’s not sure if he and Takagi will ever have another singles match after this again. He can now go all out without worrying about any referees trying to stop him, because the fans certainly won’t.

Junta Miyawaki isn’t the only wrestler in DDT who embodies the sunshine. Shunma Katsumata proved it by dressing up like what he imagines a “Sunshine Hero” would look like.

The team captains in Match #4 had to drink an entire beverage every time somebody on their team was caught committing a foul. Hinata Kasai and Ilusion were the two captains but the ever so selfless Yuki Ishida helped Kasai with some of the drinks. MJ Paul meanwhile force fed Kasai a drink to send him to his drunk breaking point. Ilusion was still measured enough to do the Swanton Bomb and then win the match.

Exact phrasing along with the rules being taken literally made Yuya Koroku lose his match. He had Kazuki Hirata trapped in an Arm Bar and spoke on the microphone that he would make Hirata give up. However he made it sound like he was giving up instead, which Yukinori Matsui took literally so Hirata was declared the winner and still the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title. But since the championship is defended 24/7, Koroku attacked Hirata after the match and made him give up to the Triangle Lancer to become the new champ.

Hisaya Imabayashi pulled his back recently and wasn’t in the best condition to complain about Match #2 ending too quickly. A cure was unexpectedly found when Antonio Honda used Danshoku Dieno’s rear to charge up Gongitsune. The attack then hit Imabayashi right in the point of his injury and made the back pain go away! Now he’s as fit as a fiddle but he was thrown face first into Dieno’s Hell Gate anyway.

If a situation occurs where the wrestler becomes too injured to speak, the referee is allowed to end the match by TKO.

Mataro is the luckless member of DDT’s video team that constantly gets dragged into a DAMNATION T.A match whenever Daisuke Sasaki gets to put together a show. Mataro ended up having to wrestle in some of these matches and then retire from wrestling due to losing a stipulation. Now he is getting the opportunity to cancel that retirement because if his team can beat the Fake Brahman Brothers (think of all the DDT wrestlers named Yuki and you can guess who they are) he gets to return to wrestling again!

I haven’t been paying attention to Up Town but Kuroshio TOKYO Japan has been quietly building up a neat little roster for himself over there. When he launched the promotion he said he wanted it to be like a small ramen shop that attracts a long line and that just sounds like a lovely place to carve out for himself in the wrestling world. Saito is one of the new wrestlers to debut from Up Town and she is making her Super Japan debut here. Despite having less than a year of experience she is actually pretty active thanks to working on Ice Ribbon and WAVE shows in between Up Town events.

The match between Thanomsak Toba and Mac Matsuhita will be held under the rounds system with five rounds lasting three minutes each being the plan.

Some international action on the undercard with MBM from Belgium taking on Miles Karu from Malaysia.

There is just so much energy coming out of Sanshiro Takagi with his return to the ring and he wants to use it against someone he hasn’t fought in a singles match in a while. The last time Takagi fought MAO one on one was in New York back in 2019 (ignoring the Baka Gaijin + Friends universe where Takagi Sanshirobo fought Tyrannosaurus Inoue).

We have one more Minoru Suzuki appearance to wrap up the King Of DDT arc. Too bad for him he has to go team up with Danshoku Dieno & Kazuki Hirata.

I think this is going to be the first time DDT is trying out the gimmick for a match and it’s going to be during a time when a lot people will be drunk. What could go wrong?

CIMA got to team up with Yuji Nagata at the last Super Japan show so now he wants to face him one on one for the first time since they met in WCW almost three decades ago.

The goal of Ken Ohka ever since he launched Ganbare☆Pro was to do his part in turning pro wrestling into a major sport. That includes livening up the wrestling scene whatever way he can. He currently thinks a lot of the other indies are not doing the same so he threw out a challenge to Hayabusa from ZERO1 to help create a spark.

On the day when New Japan changed ownership and created a shift in power across the pro wrestling scene, Super Japan went ahead and held their latest show with Yuji Nagata getting caught up in DDT hijinks. At the start of the show Nagata joined Sanshiro Takagi and advisor Masayuki Uchida to celebrate the fan voted continuation of Super Japan with a toast of energy drinks. However when they all drank it, Poison Sawada JULIE came out and revealed he swapped out Nagata’s drink with an extract of snake magic! Nagata collapsed in the ring and was taken back to the locker room to get help while Takagi suddenly wrapped up Uchida in tape and kidnapped him under JULIE’s orders!

It was all going according to plan for JULIE. He formed a new alliance with Takagi after being enemies with him in DDT for years and now had Nagata under his control. CIMA had to fight all three of them by himself in the main event with Nagata having fully transformed into a Snake Magic version called “Blue Hebi Justice” Yuji Jagata. Uchida was able to free himself backstage and used a mirror to reflect a spell back at JULIE. He also fed Nagata an antitode that gradually returned him back to normal. Nagata used the powers of his Salute pose to fight off JULIE’s magic while CIMA pinned Takagi with the Meteora to win the match. CIMA then brought up the match he had with Nagata in WCW 29 years ago. He was only 19 years old and 2 months into his career back then. He was dominated into defeat and has wanted a rematch ever since so he challenged Nagata to a singles match on 6th July! Nagata said he has no reason to refuse so he will give CIMA his all at the next Super Japan show.

In a moment that came and went in a blink of an eye, Kota Ibushi was seen standing at the entrance way waiting for Takagi after the main event. He reached out to Takagi and helped him walk to the back. Ibushi has not been seen on a DDT related event since his falling out with the company back in October 2024.

Having a pro wrestling career that spans across 35 years means you get to see a lot of different things happen. Satoshi Kojima used that sort of knowledge to help him fight off The Brahman Brothers. It helped that Munenori Sawa sacrificed himself by jumping in the way of an Ink Mist spot. By that point Kojima knew the plan was to fight as if he was a Brahman Brother himself. He suddenly started spewing out orange ink and used it to blind his opponents before beating them with the Lariat. Sawa was impressed to see first hand how Kojima can handle anything that gets thrown his way. Kojima though said he has no memory of what happened during the match. The Brahman Brothers were also amazed by Kojima and talked about wanting to team up with him next time just like they did with Nagata before.

Ken Ohka wants to do his bit to liven up Super Japan and came up with a big idea for a match to do on a future show. However neither Takagi nor Uchida were around after his match to hear about it. He had to wait until after the show to find Uchida and tell him he wanted to fight Hayabusa! Uchida agreed to book the match for 7th July.

Having a Beer Garden show means everybody goes there to get drunk, right? Not always. Yuki Ueno & Chris Brookes made a request for today’s main event to be a Drunk Rules match. However Danshoku Dieno is currently avoiding alcohol for his health and refused to be irresponsible about it. Hisaya Imabayashi agreed it would be a bad move for DDT to force one of their wrestlers to drink when they do not want to and came up with a compromise. A Drunk Match would go ahead for Ueno and Brookes but Dieno would be allowed to drink cola instead when prompted to. Yuki Ishida was also permitted to drink on Yoshihiko’s behalf. The wrestlers would have to drink after every kickout, rope break or if music suddenly played during the match. Dieno brought Yoshihiko up to the top of a ladder while everybody held it steady for their safety (a hot topic in puroresu this week due to the same actions happening at the Best Of The Super Jr.) until Brookes decided to topple Yoshihiko over. A brawl around the arena also resulted in Yoshihiko diving off of the top of the lighting rig. Dieno drinking cola instead of alcohol brought up an unintended consequence of needing to use the bathroom so he had to abandon his tag partner for a while. When he returned armed with toilet paper, Dieno had to fight off Ueno & Brookes on his own until Yoshihiko reappeared wrapped in empty beer cans and diving into the ring. Brookes tried to force Dieno to drink alcohol but Dieno used the Lip Lock to pass the drink over to Ueno. He then made Ueno and Brookes Lip Lock each other then attacked Brookes to make him spit out the beer. Dieno & Yoshihiko then applied a Double Gaydo Clutch on Brookes to win the match after over half an hour of mayhem. After the match Dieno showed regret and admitted he may start to hate DDT’s beer garden shows. However Ueno told everybody they can still enjoy the show without the need for beer, just make sure you don’t drink as much cola as you would alcohol. Dieno wasn’t convinced by Ueno’s drunk ramblings.

After HARASHIMA won his match, he announced to everyone that he and his wife recently welcomed their second child into the world.

For the 5,000 yen weapons match Kazuma Sumi & Yuki Ishida pooled together their money to hire Ryota Nakatsu as their weapon.

Yesterday DDT announced that Masami Inahata’s back injury was diagnosed as a lumbar sprain and he will need more time off to recover. His return is now delayed until mid-June. Rukiya will replace Inahata as HARASHIMA’s opponent on the upcoming Beer Garden show. The match Rukiya was originally booked for has now removed MJ Paul to even out the teams.

A nice surprise added to the show is the return of Kaisei Takechi. He’s hasn’t wrestled in almost two months because of his appendicitis but will be back and ready to go this upcoming weekend.

Over the last few months the stage actress Yuzuki Hoshimoto has appeared at ringside to support Strange Love Connection as an acquaintance of both MAO and KANON. In some cases she even lends a helping hand when things got a bit too out of control. Well she recently asked KANON if she could join SLC as a proper member and her proposal was accepted. From now on whenever she appears in DDT she will go by the name of YUZUKI and it sounds like she will be put in a similar position as KIMIHIRO as a hype person for SLC’s entrances.

The match order has not been decided yet other than the main event and the dark match.

He won’t be officially recognised as champion due to the rules of the belt (it’s still Demus in that spot) but if SLC are able to beat a team with him in it then they deserve to become champions!

DDT have found a way to guarantee that the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion will show up at Sumo Hall this August. Whoever holds the title going into the show will be rewarded with a one year long Shinkansen Box Office pass. This pass will allow the holder to travel on the bullet train at no personal cost whenever DDT books them for one of their regional shows in a twelve month period that begins after the show. Right now Sumire Uesaka is the champion but she has some things lined up elsewhere that may put her in risk of losing the title. I’ll explain in the next post.

2. Yuya Koroku & Yuki Ishida defeated Hideki Okatani & Ilusion when Ishida pinned Ilusion with the Flame Palm (11:58).
3. Munetatsu Nakamura defeated Rukiya with the Mune-chan Clutch (8:39).
4. Takeshi Masada Produce Match – No Throwing Moves Match: Takeshi Masada Vs To-y ended in a Double Disqualification after a Double Brainbuster to the Referee (10:51).
5. Special Single Match: Kazuma Sumi defeated Yuni with the School Boy (11:12).

Since NωA Jr. are soon going to be challenging for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles, the main event of today’s D GENERATIONS show was the showdown between Kazuma Sumi and Yuni. Sumi kicked out of a Moonsault so Yuni then went for the Phoenix Splash but had to land on his feet when Sumi rolled out of the way. Sumi tried to hit the Mickey Boomerang (MIKAMI’s original version of the move that everyone now knows as the 619) but Yuni dodged that and locked in a Jorge Clutch for a nearfall. Sumi eventually found a crack in Yuni’s defence to give him a High Kick to the head and then roll him into the School Boy for the victory. After the match Sumi asked Yuni if he really thinks that NωA Jr. can win the KO-D 6-Man Tag Titles at the end of this month? Yuni said that if he didn’t think the could win it, he would have never made the challenge in the first place! He admits to being the weak link of the unit right now but promised he will catch up to Sumi & Shunma Katsumata so they can all win the titles together on 31st May!

The match between Takeshi Masada and To-y had special rules implemented by the former. Masada wanted the match to prohibit all forms of throwing or slamming moves so he and To-y could only attack each other using strikes or submission holds. The rule meant neither Masada nor To-y could use their usual finishing moves. To-y ended up breaking the rule and in a panic knocked out Yukinori Matsui before he could disqualify him. With the referee down, Masada and To-y started using all of the throwing moves they could think of on each other. Yuya Koroku tried to interfere on Masada’s behalf but he was taken out with the Kojima Wonderland. Masada and To-y then got into a stalemate trying to Suplex each other. A groggy Matsui pulled himself back up only to get grabbed by both wrestlers so he could be Suplexed instead! Matsui was still conscious enough after the bump to disqualify both wrestlers for giving him a throwing move together.

During the show closing speech Sumi revealed that the original main event planned for today was going to be the singles match between Masami Inahata and Rukiya. He sent a message out to the injured Inahata, telling him to hang in there and keep on fighting but also to take his time coming back to the ring. Everyone in D GENERATIONS will be waiting for him. Rukiya instead fought Munetatsu Nakamura in the midcard, losing to the guest from Ganbare☆Pro.

Shino Taking Time Off, GanPro Going All In On MMA Tag Teams, Other Injury News

I am going travelling this week so there may be some delays in posting results and other news. Things will be back to normal service before the King Of DDT finals happen at the end of the month.

Shino Suzuki will be taking a leave of absence from both her pro wrestling and idol careers to recover from health issues. Her doctor diagnosed that she needed treatment and rest from her activities until they and Tokyo Joshi Pro can determine when she will be cleared to return.

The 3 Way Match that Suzuki was booked for later this week will now be just a singles match between Pom Harajuku and Mifu Ashida.

The majority of D GENERATIONS are filling up the next KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles match. Yuni summoned up the courage to challenge paleyouth for the titles because NωA Jr. only held the belts for a very short amount of time last year and didn’t get to do anything with them before losing in their first defence. Kazuma Sumi also sees this as a chance to take down three rivals from his generation in one go. I have an inkling that could backfire and we end up with somebody from paleyouth as the next Japanese challenger for the DDT Universal Title.

Over the weekend YuuRI suffered a minor head injury at an Ito Dojo (Kaoru Ito’s dojo) show held in Shin-Kiba. After going to the hospital, the injury and treatment was not deemed serious but YuuRI is taking this week off to recover. She will be cleared in time to wrestle at the GanPro show in Kanagawa.
