DDT “HANDMADE IN JAPAN FES’”, 20/07/2013
Tokyo Big Sight

5 Way Falls Count Anywhere Match: HARASHIMA defeated Sanshiro Takagi, Kota Ibushi, Isami Kodaka and Michael Nakazawa when HARASHIMA pinned Nakazawa with the Somato (23:04).

DDT visited the Handmade In Japan Festival in the Tokyo Big Site to show how creative pro wrestling can be. The 5 Way Falls Count Anywhere match was exactly the kind of chaotic nonsense you would expect from DDT. Sanshiro Takagi wanted to fit in and create something home made so he built a fort with folding chairs. HARASHIMA threw Michael Nakazawa into the fort, knocking it down and sending chairs flying everywhere. Kota Ibushi took regular time outs so he could visit each of the exhibition booths set up around the festival. Isami Kodaka retreated into a bathroom and returned with a giant hammer. Ibushi moonsaulted off of a giant blue ball. Takagi kept trying to rebuild his fort only for someone else to destroy it. The match ended when HARASHIMA placed Nakazawa sitting onto a chair in the wreckage and then knocking him down with the Somato. After the match Takagi greeted the audience and told them organisations like DDT like to create things. But there is no creation without destruction. Now they have finished destroying everything, it is up to the people to create new stuff and make sure they are handmade.

It’s time to find out who goes into Sumo Hall as the KO-D Openweight Champion. Shigehiro Irie and Yuji Okabayashi both debuted in 2008 and were looked upon to fill up the strong heavyweight roles that were missing from the independent scene. Okabayashi was quicker than Irie to taste success, winning tag team championships with Daisuke Sekimoto in both All Japan and their home Big Japan. It was only just recently that Irie has become the dominant force DDT wanted him to be, holding the record of most KO-D Title defences in a single reign.

Sanshiro Takagi’s reason for setting up the match is to show off the rich artistry and creativity of pro wrestling.

Isami Kodaka will now represent the Up Up Girls in the Idol Lumberjack 3 Way Match at “PROGRESS AND HARMONY OF WRESTLING” in Sumo Hall on 17/8.

Kota Ibushi sent a message to Kazuchika Okada by using his Rainmaker finisher to win the 3 Way Match. Ibushi then went overboard and gave the Rainmaker to both DJ Nira and referee Daisuke Kiso after the match. He did it for practice reasons.

Kazuki Hirata is the latest victim of the Monster Army’s kleptomania. His wrestling gear was stolen by Antonio Honda & Daisuke Sasaki before the show.

Road To Ryogouk Stops By Korakuen, Beer Garden Hurrah!

7. KO-D Openweight Title: Shigehiro Irie (c) Vs Yuji Okabayashi

The very last Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract will be cashed in by Yuji Okabayashi on 21/7. Of course, the entire plan could be thrown out the window if Okabayashi loses a match anywhere in Japan before then.

Danshoku Dino & Makoto Oishi visited the Diamond Ring office and after a somewhat perverted confrontation with a male member of staff, were able to meet Kensuke Sasaki and convince him to team with them for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Title match.

Looks like Guanchuro will continue his MIKAMI impersonation and this time teams up with the man himself.

HARASHIMA’s Beer Fight plans are usually just playing it straight. Matches himself with a worthy opponent while giving the younger wrestlers a chance to size up with the veterans. Don’t know about the others though. KUDO and Yasu Urano fought each other one year in a match where instead of three counts, you had to drink a full glass of beer while pinning your opponent in order to win.

5. Hikaru Sato Vs Yukio Sakaguchi

Hard Hit lightens up a little with a few experimental rules and concepts added some of the matches on the card. The main even though will probably be one of the more intense fights in Hard Hit history.

Tadaware comes from a micro indy called Pro Wrestling Nightmare.

Don’t care if I made a mistake with the translation. Match #1 is possibly the greatest match name I have ever written on this site. And this is Goku the monkey warrior, not the guy from Dragon Ball Z.

Practice Makes Perfect For HARASHIMA, Genius Vs Rainmaker

July 8, 2013

ibushi-vs-okada

DDT “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2013”, 18/08/2013
Tokyo Ryogoku Kokugikan

1. Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title – “Research Group” Battle Royal: Komyo (c) Vs
2. Dramatic Dream Match: Kota Ibushi Vs Kazuchika Okada
3. KO-D Openweight Title: Shigehiro Irie or Yuji Okabayashi (c) Vs HARASHIMA

As the 2013 King of DDT winner, HARASHIMA gets a main event KO-D Title shot at Sumo Hall. It is a title shot that has alluded the challenger ever since February when HARASHIMA fought and lost to Kenny Omega. All that is left to figure out now is who the champion will be. Shigehiro Irie defends the championship against Big Japan’s Yuji Okabayashi in Korakuen Hall on 21st July. If Okabayashi wins, it will bring back memories of “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2010” when HARASHIMA challenged Daisuke Sekimoto for that very championship. A victory for Irie however will continue what is now arguably the most successful KO-D Title reign in DDT history.

Meanwhile a co-main event has been signed and I am so excited to see it happen. It will be the Independent Genius taking on the Rainmaker when Kota Ibushi faces the current IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Kazuchika Okada from New Japan. This will continue Ibushi’s move up to heavyweight status along with his recent weight gain (it is currently 88kg). What’s interesting to note is the match will take place one week after the final of the G1 CLIMAX, which both men have entered. Ibushi thinks he will win the G1 and is interested, is highly motivated to wrestle Okada and wants to challenge for the IWGP Title. However, since there has been no mention of the championship during the announcement, I believe that Ibushi Vs Okada will be a non-title bout if Okada is still the champion when “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2013” takes place.

Speaking of Ibushi and the G1 CLIMAX, his group match with Shinsuke Nakamura in Osaka on 4th August will be shown live on Ustream iPPV.

DDT “KING OF DDT OSAKA 2013” Results

July 7, 2013

DDT “KING OF DDT OSAKA 2013”, 07/07/2013
Osaka Umeda Nasci Hall
350 Fans – Super No Vacancy Full House

1. 3 Way Tag Team Match: Antonio Honda & Daisuke Sasaki defeated Kushinbo Kamen & Michael Nakazawa and Masa Takanashi & Akito when Sasaki pinned Nakazawa with the Now Or Never (6:26).
2. Hikaru Sato defeated Tetsuya Endo with a Boston Crab (6:59).
3. King Of DDT Semi Final: Kenny Omega defeated Yukio Sakaguchi with the Croyt’s Wrath (9:59).
4. King Of DDT Semi Final: HARASHIMA defeated Konosuke Takeshita with the Somato (10:09).
5. Kota Ibushi & DJ Nira defeated Danshoku Dino & Makoto Oishi when Ibushi pinned Oishi with the Osaka Muscle Sakai Last Ride (10:07).
6. Shigehiro Irie, Keisuke Ishii & Takao Soma defeated KUDO, Yasu Urano & FUMA when Irie pinned FUMA with the Flying Sausage (13:11).
7. King Of DDT Final: HARASHIMA defeated Kenny Omega with the Swan Dive Somato (15:20).

HARASHIMA wins the 2013 King of DDT and will challenge for the KO-D Openweight Title in the co-main event of “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2013”. It took two Somatos and a Swan Dive Somato for HARASHIMA to beat Kenny Omega in the final. HARASHIMA defeated the rookie phenom Konosuke Takeshita in the semi-final while Omega took care of Yukio Sakaguchi. Now we to see who the champion will be, Shigehiro Irie or Yuji Okabayashi?

The “super important” announcement was the reveal of Kazuchika Okada competing at “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2013”. But that’s not all, it was announced Okada will take on Kota Ibushi in the co-main event! Ibushi thanked the crowd for the support they will give him in the upcoming G1 Climax and he promised he will do his best against the Rainmaker.

Danshoku Dino & Makoto Oishi announced that Kensuke Sasaki will be the third member of their team when they challenge the Monster Army for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles on 21/7. GM Tsurumi Amon was completely unaware of this and now has to contact Sasaki and negotiate with him to actually appear at the show.

Antonio Honda and Daisuke Sasaki both wrestled in Kushinbo Kamen costumes along with the gear they stole from Masa Takanashi & Akito. I guess they are Kamen’s spare costumes and the Monster Army stole them too.
