1. Falls Count Anywhere 3 Way Tag Match: To-y & Takeshi Masada defeated KANON & Yuki Ishida and Daichi Sato & Kazuma Sumi when Masada pinned Sumi with Masada no Chikara KOBU Mukimuki on the Tables (27:29).
-. Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title: Kazuma Sumi defeated Sanshiro Takagi (c) after Sumi ran Takagi over with the Dramatic Dream (12:32 pm).
*Kazuma Sumi becomes the 1,757th champion.

The annual DDT Falls Count Anywhere Match at HandMade In Japan Fes focused on the D GENERATIONS wrestlers this time around. The match spread its way into the Big Sight lobby where all of the wrestlers made a Headscissors chain that stretched down a stairway. When they went back to the stage area Daichi Sato got on the Dramatic Dream bike and crashed it into a castle of chairs after Yuki Ishida jumped out of the way. To-y choked Ishida with the remains while Kazuma Sumi placed a ladder over his shoulders and spun around towards everyone. Sumi also climbed the ladder and did a Moonsault onto the others below. Tables were set up next to the stage where Takeshi Masada and Sumi fought on top on. To-y then ran over and did a dive onto KANON and Sato while Masada did his finishing move to Sumi onto the tables for the victory.

After To-y and Masada gave their victory speech, Sanshiro Takagi made an appearance. However he was suddenly ran over by Sumi on the Dramatic Dream! Sumi then jumped on top of Takagi to pin him and become the new Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion!

1. Falls Count Anywhere 4 Way Tag Match: Shunma Katsumata & To-y defeated Sanshiro Takagi & Takeshi Masada, Keigo Nakamura & Yuki Ishida and Yuya Koroku & Ilusion when Katsumata pinned Ishida with the Sauna Trance Splash from the Giga Ladder though the Table (36:48).

The latest DDT match to take place at the Handmade In Japan Fes featured Sanshiro Takagi, Shunma Katsumata and most of the young generation of DDT wrestlers. Hisaya Imabayashi was also there and found himself getting caught in the crossfire. While Takagi and Katsumata took some time to go shopping during the fight, the others kept the action going around the convention. Takagi returned and crashed the Dramatic Dream bike into a castle of chairs. To-y taped Yuki Ishida onto a table so Katsumata couls climb a nearby ladder and hit the Sauna Trance Splash through Ishida and the table for the victory.

6. Iwate Specialty Special Tag Match: Yuki Ueno & Shunma Katsumata Vs MAO & Keigo Nakamura

The DDT card also has a few changes but that’s because so many of the young wrestlers want to fight Sanshiro Takagi before his break. Takagi came up with an idea to face them all in a gauntlet of two minute singles matches one after the other. If any of them can beat him in two minutes he promises to increase their pay as a reward! The wrestlers lining up to face him are Takeshi Masada, Yuni, Keigo Nakamura, To-y & Kazuma Sumi.

BASARA “BASARA 254 ~HIEN~”, 13/08/2024
Shin-Kiba 1st RING

Something BASARA tweeted out today is their plan to separate between the two kinds of “UTAGE” shows they will be producing from August onwards. The “HIEN” shows are now labelled as “Hard Mode” events. The tweet compares the term to “Bati Bati” and they later ruled out doing Hardcore Matches on these shows when a fan responding to them got the two mixed up. So it sounds like BASARA might be giving Battlarts style wrestling a go when using that name. The “SOUEN” shows are now labelled “Fudangi BASARA” and will be no different to the regular “UTAGE” shows they’ve been doing up until now.

1. Falls Count Anywhere 4 Way Match: HARASHIMA defeated MAO, Hideki Okatani and Kazuma Sumi when HARASHIMA pinned Sumi with the Somato (26:48).

One of DDT’s annual summer gigs is to hold a Falls Count Anywhere match at the Handmade In Japan Festival. This year’s event just happened to fall on the day before DDT returns to Sumo Hall. Did the wrestlers take it easy to avoid any last minute injuries? Did they hell! Both MAO and Kazuma Sumi did big Moonsaults off of high places and Hideki Okatani got into a chair fight with HARASHIMA. A castle of chairs were built in front of the stage and Sumi was lawn darted into them by MAO. Sumi got some revenge by giving MAO a DDT onto the pile of chairs but HARASHIMA then threw him onto the same pile with a Death Valley Driver. If that wasn’t enough, Sumi was laid against a table leaning against the stage and HARASHIMA ran into him, hitting the Somato to win the match.

3. Kengan Ashura x DDT Pro Wrestling Collaboration Match III: Konosuke Takeshita & MAO defeated Yukio Naya & Hideki Okatani when Takeshita pinned Okatani with the Zahi (12:07).

DDT held a few pro wrestling matches at the AnimeJapan convention as part of a collaboration with the Netflix anime Kengan Ashura. In the anime companies and other elements of the corporate world use an underground fighting organization to settle their disputes. To capture this mood, each match DDT held today had a theme pitting two things against each other. For example the first match was Muscles Vs Mental Strength. Keigo Nakamura got his shows mixed up and thought DDT was promoting “How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?”. That show is from the same author and takes place in the same universe as Kengan Ashura. Regardless, he wanted to prove that muscles are important and did so by pinning Kazuma Sumi with a Diving Headbutt. He then admitted it was actually his mental strength that showed him the way to victory.

The second match was built around the two teams arguing over which character is the stronger, Tokita Ohma from Kengan Ashura or Baki Hanma from Baki The Grappler? Yuya Koroku thinks it is Ohma is while Kazusada Higuchi argued Baki is better. The two teams decided to hold a Best 2 out of 3 Falls match to settle their difference. Both Tetsuya Endo and HARASHIMA picked up falls for their respective teams but the third and deciding fall ran out of time. Koroku and Higuchi agreed after the match it was time to stop fighting and they should go back to being anime fans. They will now wait for the day when Kengan Ashura and Baki The Grappler do a crossover.

The main event was the online war between Netflix and ABEMA. The ABEMA team represented by Yukio Naya & Hideki Okatani complained about Kengan Ashura being exclusive to Netflix. The Netflix team of Konosuke Takeshita & MAO defeated them but agreed that the two streaming services are both great.

After the main event, Gota Ihashi suddenly entered the ring threatening to crash the whole show! He tried to attack the staff but was stopped by a Double Super Kick from Takeshita and MAO. With the threat safely discarded, Ohma’s voice actor Tatsuhisa Suzuki was invited into the ring to announce that season two of Kengan Ashura is coming this September.

A chance to win the DDT Universal Title something Tetsuya Endo thinks is a fresh change in direction for him. While he will always want to fight for the KO-D Openweight Title, Endo has felt the need to go after the other singles championships in DDT. Plus if he beats Naruki Doi then that means he is also beating the AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Champion! Endo likes the idea of defending the Universal Title in America, the same country where he won the KO-D Title for the first time.

A meeting yesterday between Shinichiro Kawamatsu and House of Councilors member Eriko Imai (who is also the mother of pro wrestler Raimu Imai) was suddenly interrupted by Gorgeous Matsuno when he overheard them talking about the O-40 Title match. Kawamatsu was telling Imai about his plan to wrestle both Makoto Oishi and Matsuno in a 3 Way Match. When he brought up that Matsuno is about to turn 62 years old next month, Matsuno burst into the room and threatened him! Matsuno said the O-40 Title is not for a kid like Kawamatsu and then he got dragged out of the room by the politician’s aide. When everything settled down Imai gave Kawamatsu her support.

DDT will be at the AnimeJapan 2023 convention in Tokyo Big Sight for a collaboration with the Kengan Ashura anime on Netflix. The series is all about corporations using an underground fighting tournament to settle their problems. The artists behind the manga have done merchandise artwork with Big Japan before and have referenced pro wrestling in their work, including this series. Kengan Ashura has an in-universe pro wrestling company in it called Super Japan Pro Wrestling. Coincidence or not that name also just happens to be a rejected suggestion to call DDT back when that company was launched in 1997. So in a weird way this is sort of a full circle moment.

1. Falls Count Anywhere Match 4 Way Match: MAO defeated Sanshiro Takagi, Yukio Naya and Yuya Koroku when MAO pinned Koroku with a Package Piledriver through a Table (22:47).

The originally planned Falls Count Anywhere match was supposed to be a 3 Way Tag. However Toi Kojima tested positive for covid and the match was changed to a 4 Way on the day. Sanshiro Takagi, MAO, Yukio Naya and Yuya Koroku were the participants involved with Yuki Ishida being left out. They did chain grappling on the stage until the match moved around the area. MAO and Koroku climbed up a blue sphere where MAO applied an Octopus Hold. Naya then gave Koroku a Giant Swing, knocking Takagi out of the way while MAO hopped over the swing for as long as he could. MAO climed up a nearby vending machine and Moonsaulted off of it onto everyone below. Koroku got some revenge by bringing out the Dramatic Dream bike and running over Takagi with him. He tried to run over Naya but missed and crashed into a castle of table and chairs. Naya gave Takagi a Choke Slam onto the chairs. But it was MAO who ended up winning by putting Koroku through the table with a Package Piledriver.
