Ibushi Out Until May

November 20, 2011

And that’s all I know about the situation…Yeah it’s been a quiet news week.

Last Tuesday, Kota Ibushi had successful surgery done on his left shoulder, which has been injured ever since Ibushi separated the shoulder after a Firebird Splash on Prince Devitt during the 2010 Best Of The Super Jr Final. Until this week, Ibushi had always opted to take short breaks to let the shoulder heal on its own rather than take the surgery and be put on the shelf for longer periods of time. Unfortunately this meant the shoulder could never fully heal and the injuries kept coming back. The recurring problem cut short his run as the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion for New Japan Pro Wrestling as well as his new role in Homoiro Clover Z. Ibushi finally gave in and announced at “NON-FIX 11.13” that he was going under the knife. At the moment everyone is expecting his return to happen in May 2012, just over six months time. He is most likely going to miss the big DDT event of the year, their 15th Anniversary show in Nippon Budokan, the date of which will be announced at next Sunday’s “GOD BLESS DDT 2011” show in Korakuen Hall. DDT’s previous anniversary events have been held in March but that is no guarantee next year’s edition will be the same.

As the year soon draws to a close, I am hoping to add a complete results history for DDT and Union plus some of the sub brands like Hard Hit, BOYS and Cruiser’s Game. The roster pages for DDT and Union have been updated and now show some info on all of the active wrestlers. Any corrections would be appreciated. Rosters for the sub-brands will be included eventually.

9 Vs 1 Handicap Match, Cosmic Warriors, Let’s Go More 30’s

November 14, 2011

UNION “UNION 6th ANNIVERSARY”, 22/11/2011
Shinjuku FACE

0. Kasu Rachoresu Mental Health Treatment Match: Yoshiaki Yago & Good Nurse Madoka Vs BENTEN & Miyako
1. Isami Kodaka (w/ Rumi Kazama) Vs Hiroshi Fukuda
2. SGP Jr. Heavyweight Title – Mask Vs Mask: Cosmic Warrior Sofia (c) Vs Cosmic Warrior Justine (Special Guest Ref: Ultraman Robin)
3. Kengo Ohka Vs Shigehiro Irie
4. 6th Anniversary 9 Vs 1 Handicap Match: Shuji Ishikawa Vs Tsuyoshi Kikuchi, Kazuhiko Ogasawara, Poison Sawada, A. YAZAWA, Ryu Gouma, Chou-un Shiryu, Mecha Mummy Lite, Sister Akiko & Takeshi Minamino
5. Mio Shirai & Ken Ohka Vs Masao Orihara & Big Morohashi
6. DDT Extreme Title: El Generico (c) Vs Sanshiro Takagi

Plans have changed for the Battle Royal that was set to take place here to celebrate Union’s 6th Anniversary. Naomi Susan originally planned the match to be a 9-Man Elimination match featuring Union wrestlers from the past and present. However, Shuji Ishikawa pointed out that he did not have a match booked and wanted to get involved. It was decided that the big ace of Union will face the entire field of wrestlers in a 1 Vs 9 Handicap match. I’m not sure if it will be handled as a proper handicap match with all 9 wrestlers in the team standing on the ring or if it will be done gauntlet style.

A special rule has been added to Mio Shirai & Ken Ohka Vs Masao Orihara & Big Morohashi. Orihara will only be allowed to touch Shirai for five seconds at a time. Any longer will be considered harassment and Orihara’s team will be disqualified. Keep in mind the woman who came up with this rule is currently treating her tag team partner like a pet dog.

Ultraman Robin has been added as the special guest referee for Cherry Vs Apple Miyuki. Makes sense since the SGP Jr. Heavyweight Title, a belt from Robin’s home promotion, is on the line. Apple Miyuki said that she and Cherry grew up together wrestling in SGP and their fights were filled with “cosmic love”. She requested that they should both wrestle as their SGP masked alter egos. Cherry accepted but also added the stipulation that the loser should unmask! So now the SGP Jr. Title match will be Mask Vs Mask, Cosmic Warrior Sofia (Cherry) against Cosmic Warrior Justine (Apple Miyuki)!

DDT “GOD BLESS DDT 2011”, 27/11/2011
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

0. Dark Match: Tomomitsu Matsunaga Vs Toru Sugiura
1. Yasu Rano, Antonio Honda, Keita Yano & X Vs MIKAMI, Masa Takanashi, Takao Soma & Daisuke Sasaki
2. Michael Nakazawa Vs Hikaru Sato
3. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie (c) Vs Poison JULIE Sawada & Gorgeous Matsuno
4. Homoiro Clover Z Audition: Hikari Minami Vs Mitsuya Nagai Vs Tsutomu Oosugi Vs Hercules Senga Vs DJ Nira Vs Akito Vs Gundan Hitori Vs Hiroshi Fukuda
Jury: Danshoku Dino & Makoto Oishi
5. AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Title: Kenny Omega (c) Vs Minoru Tanaka
6. KO-D Openweight Title: KUDO (c) Vs HARASHIMA

Let’s Go 30’s introduced Keita Yano as their ally at “NON-FIX 11.13”. Now Yasu Urano & Antonio Honda have promised to bring in another friend to team with them and Yano in an 8-Man Tag against MIKAMI, Masa Takanashi, Takao Soma & Daisuke Sasaki.

DDT “NON-FIX 11.13”, 13/11/2011
Shin-Kiba 1st RING
311 Fans

1. Michael Nakazawa & Kazuki Hirata defeated Hikaru Sato & Rion Mizuki when Nakazawa submitted Mizuki with the Michael Never Cry (8:32).
2. DJ Nira & Gorgeous Matsuno defeated Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie when Matsuno pinned Irie with a School Boy (6:22).
3. Yasu Urano, Antonio Honda & Keita Yano defeated MIKAMI, Tomomitsu Matsunaga & Hoshitango when Honda pinned Matsunaga with the Diving Fist Drop (11:15).
4. Homoiro Clover Z Audition: Danshoku Dino Vs Makoto Oishi ended in a No Contest when the referee was attacked (7:15).
Audition Participants: Hiroshi Fukuda, Akito, DJ Nira, Speed Of Sound and Mitsuya Nagai.
5. Kenny Omega defeated Takao Soma with the Croyt’s Wrath (14:15).
6. KUDO & Masa Takanashi defeated HARASHIMA & Daisuke Sasaki when KUDO pinned HARASHIMA with a Buzzsaw Kick (11:10).

In their first of two tag team bouts today, KUDO scored the victory over his KO-D Openweight Title challenger HARASHIMA in the main event. KUDO was just a little too fast for HARASHIMA as he rolled out of a Jackknife Pin hold and struck his unprepared opponent with a Buzzsaw Kick. Afterwards KUDO spoke on the mic about how he would not see himself as a true champion in DDT until he defeats HARASHIMA in the KO-D title match on 22nd November in Korakuen Hall.

Kota Ibushi announced that his shoulder injury cannot fully recover without surgery. He will be having shoulder surgery in a few days time, extending his absence from the competing in the ring (and the campsite, and the street, and the shopping mall, and the factory, so on and so on).

Tsurumi Amon decided to add some handicap pinfall rules to Match #2 to aid Gorgeous Matsuno due to his ill health. Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie had to pin either Gorgeous Matsuno or DJ Nira for five seconds in order to win the match. Meanwhile Matsuno & Nira only had to pin the KO-D Tag Team Champions for one second to win. Matsuno was able to do that on Irie and as a reward, he and Poison JULIE Sawada will challenge Ishii & Irie for the belts at Korakuen Hall later this month. However, Matsuno suddenly fainted backstage shortly after the match. This now puts the KO-D Tag Title match into doubt.

Michael Nakazawa challenged Hikaru Sato to a singles match at Korakuen Hall on 27/11.

Kazuki Hirata suffered a concussion in the opener. He will miss the rest of today’s shows as a result.

Full Tripleshot Cards, Homoiro Clover Z Auditions

November 7, 2011

DDT “NON-FIX 11.13”, 13/11/2011
Shin-Kiba 1st RING

1. Homoiro Clover Z Audition: Danshoku Dino Vs X
2. Hikaru Sato & Rion Mizuki Vs Michael Nakazawa & Kazuki Hirata
3. Yasu Urano, Antonio Honda & X Vs MIKAMI, Tomomitsu Matsunaga & Hoshitango
4. Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie Vs DJ Nira & Gorgeous Matsuno
5. Kenny Omega Vs Takao Soma
6. KUDO & Daisuke Sasaki Vs HARASHIMA & Masa Takanashi

Gorgeous Matsuno has requested a shot at the KO-D Tag Team Titles with Poison JULIE Sawada as his partner. However, Tsurumi Amon is not convinced they deserve to get the title shot. He thinks they will have to defeat the champions first before they can go after the belts. Sawada will not be appearing at Shin-Kiba 1st RING on 13/11 so Amon has told Matsuno to team with DJ Nira to take on the champs Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie at the show. If Matsuno & Nira win, then Matsuno & Sawada will be given a title shot to be held at 27/11.

The Let’s Go 30’s pair of Yasu Urano & Antonio Honda are going back to the drawing board after failing to win the KO-D Tag Team Titles. Part of their new strategy will be to bring in a third member to their group, who will be revealed at this show.

Hard Hit “ATLANTIS”, 13/11/2011
Shin-Kiba 1st RING

1. Kazuki Hirata Vs Hiroshi Fukuda
2. Tanomusaku Toba Vs Kotaro Nasu
3. Isami Kodaka Vs Ryuichi Sekine
4. Madoka Vs Kengo Mashimo
5. Shuji Ishikawa Vs Takaku Fuke
6. KUDO & Kenny Omega Vs HARASHIMA & Mitsuya Nagai
7. Hikaru Sato Vs Daisuke Sekimoto

UNION “FANTASY ILLUSION 5”, 13/11/2011
Shin-Kiba 1st RING

1. Cherry Tag Match: Giant Cherry & Nice Body Cherry Vs Mrs. Cherry & Chinese Cherry
2. S-Ovation Vs M-Ovation: Hiroyo Matsumoto & Misaki Ohata Vs Shigeko Deluxe & Hiroko Mangrove
3. Masako Takanashi & Kazue Hirata Vs Kaori Yoneyama & Leon
4. Handsome Shirai Vs Kenko Ohka
5. Cherry Vs Aja Kong

If you like your pro wrestling to have cross dressing then boy are you in for a treat (I can’t believe I typed that). Handsome Shirai Vs Kenko Ohka sounds like a gender swapped version of the Mio Shirai Vs Ken Ohka feud, Masako Takanashi is Masa Takanashi, Kazue Hirata is Kazuki Hirata, Shigeko Deluxe & Hiroko Mangrove are the female cheerleader alter egos of Shigehiro Irie & Shuji Ishikawa respectively and Chinese Cherry will obviously be Chou-un Shiryu. My guesses for the other Cherry knock offs are Hoshitango for Giant Cherry, Big Morohashi for Nice Body Cherry and Sanshiro Takagi for Mrs. Cherry/Cherry’s mother.

DDT “GOD BLESS DDT 2011”, 27/11/2011
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Homoiro Clover Z Audition: Hikari Minami Vs X
2. AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Title: Kenny Omega (c) Vs Minoru Tanaka
3. KO-D Openweight Title: KUDO (c) Vs HARASHIMA

Homoiro Clover Z will be holding “auditions” for the rest of this month to find their newest member. Hikari Minami from Ice Ribbon is the first name added to the audition. She caught their attention when she and Sanshiro Takagi defeated Clover members Danshoku Dino & Makoto Oishi at “OSAKA BAY BLUES”. So far the official members of Homoiro Clover Z are Danshoku Dino, Kota Ibushi, Makoto Oishi and KUDO.

2. Naniwa Strange School Rumble: Poison JULIE Sawada defeated MIKAMI with the Pirates A GOGO (11:54).
Other Competitors: Hideki Shiota, Michael Nakazawa, Tomomitsu Matsunaga, Shoichi Uchida, Kiai Ryuuken Ecchan and Emi Sakura
3. Sanshiro Takagi & Hikari Minami defeated Danshoku Dino & Makoto Oishi when Takagi pinned Oishi with the Sit Down Himawari Bomb (9:25).
4. Triple Threat: Kikutaro and DJ Nira defeated Gorgeous Matsuno by Ring Out (16:14).
5. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie (c) defeated Antonio Honda & Yasu Urano when Irie pinned Honda with the Vertical Drop Back Flip (16:52).
*V1 for Ishii & Irie.
6. Special Tag Match: Minoru Tanaka & Koji Kanemoto defeated Kenny Omega & HARASHIMA when Tanaka pinned Omega with the Fireball Splash (23:41).
7. KO-D Openweight Title: KUDO (c) defeated Masa Takanashi with the Diving Double Knee Drop (24:18).
*V3 for KUDO.

KUDO has now reached his third defense of the KO-D Openweight Title, beating the title reigns of previous Sumo Hall main event champions Kota Ibushi and HARASHIMA. KUDO told Masa Takanashi there were no hard feelings between them and he offered to go drinking with Masa after the show. He also nominated HARASHIMA to be his next challenger and for their title match to take place at the 27/11 Korakuen Hall show. KUDO compared HARASHIMA to Goku from Dragon Ball Z and said that to beat him, KUDO will have to be Vegeta!

Minoru Tanaka, who has recently gone back to using that name as a tribute to BattlARTS, scores a vital victory over Kenny Omega in the run up to their AJPW Jr. Title match on 27/11. As if the loss was not bad enough, Omega’s left knee was in great pain after the match. Now Minoru has a target to focus his attacks on for the title match.

Poison JULIE Sawada & Gorgeous Matsuno have joined forces and challenged Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie to a KO-D Tag Team Title match.

DDT “PRESIDENT PERVERT! ~ LAST BIG WRESTLING MATCH ON THE STREET”, 04/11/2011
Tokyo Asakusa Flower Mansion
342 Fans

1. Big China Unified Nakahara Tag Team Championship – 3 Way Tag: Sanshiro Takagi & Munenori Sawa defeated Brahman Shu & Brahman Kei and Danshoku Dino & Chou-un Shiryu when Sawa pinned Shiryu with the Shining Festival (59:35).
*V2 for Takagi & Sawa.

Another chaotic DDT match is over and done with as Munenori Sawa (the “Hentai” in the show’s title) participated in his final Anywhere Pro Wrestling bout. A 3 Way Tag Team match for the Big China Unified Nakahara Tag Team Titles was the only match on the show but it went on for almost an hour. Chou-un Shiryu was determined to win back his country’s championship and teamed up with Danshoku Dino to go after the belts. The Brahman Brothers were the third wheel and dark horses of the title match, bringing along their unpredictable shenanigans.

The event took place in a flower garden that contained rollercoaster rides. The brawling was allowed to go anywhere, except on the flowerbeds. Michael Nakazawa was the host running around the area shouting through a megaphone. Kota Ibushi, Antonio Honda, GENTARO and Hiroyo Matsumoto all showed up at certain points and got involved. Ibushi of course attacked the other wrestlers with fireworks. Traffic cones, powder, tobasco sauce, ketchup, a bottle of Coca-Cola containing Mentos and a Sanshiro Takagi sing-a-long were all used as weapons. The match wound up at a lake with a small bridge going across it. Sawa ran off a plank attached to the bridge and landed a Shining Wizard on Chou-un Shiryu in the water for the victory. Afterwards, Takagi announced that the Big China Tag Titles were going to be sealed and no longer defended in Japan. However, he promised Chou-un that the belts will be returned to China and can be reinstated over there if he wishes.

One last thing happened to close out the show. Takagi thanked Sawa for his time wrestling in DDT and Union by presenting him with a brand new bicycle!

DDT will announce the date for next year’s 15th Anniversary show at the Nippon Budokan on this show. Several DDT wrestlers left comments on the official DDT site about the upcoming announcement. Sanshiro Takagi is so excited, he wants to announce the date to the fans as soon as possible. KUDO hopes to continue defending the KO-D Openweight Title and make ot to the big event as champion. Kota Ibushi wants to be fully recovered for the show but is aware not to return to the ring too quickly until his body is ready. HARASHIMA is very happy that his dream of wrestling in the Budokan will now become a reality. Finally, Kazuki Hirata mentioned that everyone is training and fighting harder than ever so they can earn a spot on the show. The competition for that precious chance to fight in the “House Of Japanese Martial Arts” is going to be fierce.
