*V1 for Shuji Ishikawa.

The polls were open for the DDT48 General Election 2012 with the fans in attendance already giving their votes for who they want to win the annual event.

Tsurumi Amon invited the DDT roster to the ring at the start of the show. He congratulated all of them on a job well done for the 15th Anniversary Show in Budokan Hall. He then said that DDT must continue to change and announced that all stables must disband and be replaced with new ones. The groups have until 19th September to split up and the new units must be created by 30th September. The response from all the wrestlers was negative. Makoto Oishi said that Homoiro Clover Z was approaching its one year anniverary while Masa Takanashi said he only just formed La Familia. Sanshiro Takagi went too far and called Amon a motherfucker. As punishment, Amon turned Takagi’s match with Yuji Hino later that night into a Falls Count Anywhere match. Takagi swore that the nWJ will not disband.

Amon then got the new group process rolling by creating a new stable of his own called the Tehajimeni Shinitai Tsurumi, or TST for short. He asked if anyone wanted to join but got no response. Amon thought the many wrestlers who want to join his awesome new group were feeling shy. So he decided to turn around and close his eyes. If anyone wanted to join him, they would stay inside the ring when he turned back around and opened his eyes. He did just that and when he looked back he found himself alone in the ring.

The first real formation of a new stable did take place at the end of the show when Shuji Ishikawa defeated Shigehiro Irie in a DDT Extreme Title match. Right after Shuji told Irie that he will never lose to him, Keisuke Ishii ran into the ring and struck Ishikawa with the Kneel Kick. Ishii asked Irie how long has he been under Ishikawa’s wing. He also asked Takao Soma how long he has been Sanshiro Takagi’s sidekick. It was now time for them to rise and take over. Ishii called out DDT’s established wrestlers and said he was going to pick a fight with all of them plus Union too. Irie cemented his decision to join Ishii by headbutting Ishikawa. He then said “My friends have increased a lot. I’m glad.” Soma told Takagi the nWJ was disbanding as of today. While this new unit does not have a name yet, it is clear that Ishii, Soma and Irie have declared war on the DDT veterans!

The DDT Extreme Title was defended in a normal match with no extra rules added. However, Shuji Ishikawa brought a chair into the ring and dared Shigehiro Irie into a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors to decide who gets to use a free chair shot. Shuji won.

If my translation is correct, DJ Nira performed a Rainmaker version of the Rocket Punch. That alone is enough of a reason why Nira deserved to beat Danshoku Dino.

HARASHIMA and last year’s DDT48 winner Hikaru Sato are certain to win some new votes with a victory over Kota Ibushi & Daisuke Sasaki.

In the Falls Count Anywhere match, Takagi kept shouting “Tokyo Dome!” whenever he chopped Yuji Hino. Whenever Hino chopped Takagi back, Hino shouted out “Korakuen Hall!” The match turned out to be mayhem with the two brawling all over the hall. Takagi would not shut up screaming “Tokyo Dome” and eventually told Yuji “Do not give up your dreams!” The match reached its time limit right when Hino was about to give Takagi the F****’N Bomb onto a table. Takagi got on Hino’s good side when he said Hino could meet Mariko Shinoda from AKB48 at the Tokyo Dome. Hino thought about it, sat down with Takagi next to the table he was about to break and shook hands with him.

The Let’s Go 30’s! team of Antonio Honda & Yasu Urano became the No. 1 Contender’s for the KO-D Tag Team Titles by winning the 3 Way Tag match. After the match, Honda spoke about having a sense of respect for wrestling, that he has the spirit to win and how he will protect wrestling because he loves it dearly. Yasu Urano said him versus MIKAMI is not interesting but Honda versus Tatsumi Fujinami has him excited. Honda said he has been studying Fujinami ever since Fujinami fought Antonio Inoki in Yokohama many years ago. Honda learned how Inoki targeted Fujinami’s medulla oblongata and he will do the same.

Yoshihiko (currently wrestling as E. YOSHIHIKO, I don’t know what the E stands for yet) must have had a secret training camp with a certain NOAH wrestler because he pulled out the Shiranui Kai on route to beating MIKAMI.

During the handicap match, Michael Nakazawa referred to Mio Shirai as “Tits Bastard!” Mio responded by calling Michael a “flat chested bastard!”

Cherry is really starting to embrace being 38 years old. She has now named a bunch of moves after her age such as the Thirty Eight Punch, the Thirty Eight Kick and the Thirty Eight Crusher.

Tetsuya Endo & Konosuke Takeshita got a surprising win over the more experienced Hiroshi Fukuda and Taichi Kazato. Fukuda brought in a tambourine to use as a weapon but accidentaly hit his partner with it instead, leading to their defeat.

The Furious Battle Royal was constantly interrupted with song and dance numbers by Saint Rion and the Homoiro Clover Z wrestlers. Tomomitsu Matsnaga looked like he was about to win when the bell rang and the match was declared a no contest.

1. KO-D Openweight Title: Kota Ibushi (c) Vs El Generico

DDT was quick to decide who was next to face Kota Ibushi for the KO-D Openweight Championship. El Generico approached Tsurumi Amon backstage at Budokan Hall before the main event to challenge the winner of Ibushi Vs Kenny Omega for the title. Ibushi, looking to avenge his comeback defeat to Generico back in April, accepted the challenge shortly after winning the match. At the press conference in Shinjuku, Generico talked about all the matches he had against Ibushi in the past and after seeing Ibushi Vs Omega, wondered what it will take for him to beat Ibushi again. He also called both of the Golden Lovers amazing wrestlers. Ibushi admitted he did a lot of crazy things in that match but thinks he does not have to go up to that dangerous level again to beat Generico. Ibushi also talked about Omega being hurt after their match. He said Omega’s body is battered but he did not suffer any serious injury.

6. DDT Beer Garden Specialty – Lottery 6-Man Tag Team Match: Yuji Hino, HARASHIMA & Hikaru Sato defeated Kota Ibushi, Yasu Urano & KUDO when HARASHIMA pinned Urano with the Somato (20:35).

The candidates for the DDT48 General Election 2012 have been aanounced. They are Hikaru Sato, Kota Ibushi, Danshoku Dino, Yasu Urano, Masa Takanashi, Makoto Oishi, Cherry, HARASHIMA, MIKAMI, Isami Kodaka, Ken Ohka, KUDO, Sanshiro Takagi, DJ Nira, Antonio Honda, Keisuke Ishii, Shuji Ishikawa, Takao Soma, Michael Nakazawa, Mr. #6, Kenny Omega, Shigehiro Irie, Akito, Daisuke Sasaki, Hoshitango, Tomomitsu Matsunaga, Gorgeous Matsuno, Rion Mizuki, Gota Ihashi, Tetsuya Endo, Yuji Hino, Konosuke Takeshita, Seiya Morohashi, Hiro Tsumaki, Hiroshi Fukuda, Taichi Kazato, El Hijo del GoroGoro Jr., Choun-Shiryu, Kengo Ohka, Kiai Ryuuken Ecchan, Shoichi Uchida, YOSHIHIKO, Mio Shirai, El Generico, Yukio Sakaguchi, Hideki Shiota and NOZOMI.

The ghost story during Match #4 was read by actor Hisaya Imabayashi, who looks absolutely nothing like Tsurumi Amon. The story was so scary it made all of the wrestlers involved in the match faint one after the other. It somehow ended with Imabayashi impersonating Atsushi Onita and throwing water at everyone while “Wild Thing” played over the speakers.

Sanshiro Takagi, Michael Nazazawa and referee Daisuke Kiso all had to wear pantyhose over their head during the Lumberjack Death Match. The winner was the first person to pull off their opponent’s pantyhose.

In preparation for his debut match at Budokan Hall, Konosuke Takeshita took part in a sparring exhibition with Hiroshi Fukuda. Takeshita suprised everyone and submitted Fukuda, winning the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title in the process. Tsurumi Amon congratulated Takeshita on winning a championship before his official debut. However, Fukuda then Low Blowed Takeshita and pinned him to win the belt back almost immediately.

Fukuda returned later in the show to face Tanomusaku Toba in their scheduled match. DJ Nira came out to be the sub-referee along with Yukinori Matsui during the match and they constantly got in each other’s way. It got so bad that Matsui pounced at Nira and attacked him. The distraction allowed Fukuda to Low Blow Toba and pin him with School Boy while his feet were on the top rope for leverage. Both Matsui and Nira counted the pin. After the match, Nira took out his “Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere” contract and “cashed it in” to get an Iron Man title shot right there and then. He immediately pinned Fukuda with a Small Package to become the new champion. Nira grabbed the mic and said he will go to the Budokan as champion and this belt best symbolised DDT. Tsurumi Amon decided that the Iron Man Title will be frozen from now until the Budokan show. That means no 24/7 challenges and that Nira will be the defending champion in the Battle Royal.

Rion Mizuki announced he will transform into Leon from Saint Seiya at Budokan Hall.

It was confirmed that KUDO & Makoto Oishi Vs MIKAMI & Tatsumi Fujinami at Budokan Hall will be for the KO-D Tag Team Title.

DDT will be launching a new stretch gym business in September. Seiya Morohashi will be in charge.

There was no doubt about it, Hikaru Sato is the winner of the DDT48 General Election 2011! A landslide victory means that Sato wins the grand prize of ¥1,000,000 and a KO-D Openweight Title shot against KUDO on 23rd October.

The majority of the line-up was in attendance for the results read out. Those absent due to other commitments were Kenny Omega, Tsuyoshi Kikuchi, Gorgeous Matsuno, Yoshiaki Yago, Kengo Ohka, Tanomusaku Toba and Mr. #6. The hosts for the night were DDT General Manager Tsurumi Amon, Haruo Murata from Dramatic Fantasia and Mita Sayako from Occupation Of The Indies (Carlos was too busy hibernating). They began to introduce the top 18 wrestlers, starting from number 17. Each finalist commented on their placing. Shuji Ishikawa wanted a match against Yasu Urano, Keisuke Ishii said he will do better next year, Antonio Honda thought he was going to win it all, DJ Nira never had a speech prepared, Sanshiro Takagi was impressed with how creative the wrestlers were with their promotional campaigns this year, KUDO wasn’t too upset that the KO-D Champion could only finish 12th, Ken Ohka was very happy to finish 11th, Isami Kodaka was looking forward to competing at the show, MIKAMI thought finishing 10th was less embarrassing than finishing 11th or higher, HARASHIMA was frustrated that he didn’t win and Cherry was greatful for the fans that voted for her.

Makoto Oishi began crying with happiness when it was announced he finished in 6th place. Filled with emotion, Oishi asked Takagi if he could become a full time DDT wrestler. Takagi thought about it and said “Sure. Today, Makoto Oishi is a member of DDT!”

With the top 5 yet to be announced, the hosts turned their attention to the bottom of the table. Only the top 18 could compete at the October Korakuen Hall event, and they had not mentioned who lucky #18 was. After revealing some of the wrestlers who failed to qualify, it was finally revealed that Takao Soma took the 18th and final spot. Takao simply smiled and said “Thank you” before sitting back down.

And so came the top 5. Masa Takanshi thanked Emi Sakura and Yamada Man Pondo for helping him throughout the election, Yasu Urano wanted to accept Shuji’s challenge from earlier, although it has not yet been confirmed, Danshoku Dino said he was looking forward to the future, Kota Ibushi was disappointed he missed out in first place and Hikaru Sato talked about how much he has achieved in his career over the last two years. KUDO and Sato then had a staredown to hype up the main event.

Tsurumi Amon then announced his next big project. A 16-Man Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament will also take place at the 23rd October show. The winner of that tournament will take on the winner of KUDO Vs Sato in a KO-D Title match on 6th November in Osaka.

11. DDT Vs Union: Shuji Ishikawa, Sanshiro Takagi & Kengo Ohka defeated KUDO, HARASHIMA & MIKAMI when Ishikawa pinned MIKAMI with the Splash Mountain (18:09).

Union scores one over DDT in the main event. Shuji Ishikawa, Sanshiro Takagi & Kengo Ohka were able to put their differences aside to defeat the Caps Lock team of KUDO, HARASHIMA & MIKAMI.

Tsurumi Amon has been very impressed with the growth of Keisuke Ishii and Shigehiro Irie over the last year. Their time limit draw on this show was enough to give Amon an idea. Ishii and Irie will team together in Sapporo on 10th October to face Danshoku Dino & Makoto Oishi in a match for the vacant KO-D Tag Team Championships.

A Shin-Kiba 1st RING tripleshot was announced for 13th November. DDT, Hard Hit and Fantasy Illusion (a joshi event produced by Cherry) are the brands that will each host a show.

The latest DDT48 General Election 2011 standings were announced. Live voting at the shows have now ended but there are a few days left for fans to post in their votes.

18. Kenny Omega (77 Votes)
– Shuji Ishikawa (77 Votes)
20. Mr. #6 (72 Votes)
21. DJ Nira (69 Votes)

It’s safe to say Hikaru Sato has won. The more interesting story will be who brings up the rear at #18 and possibly #19 depending on Kota Ibushi’s health come October. Kenny Omega and Shuji Ishikawa are tied 18th and are only a few votes ahead of Mr. #6 and DJ Nira, of all people. The extra votes that come in over the next week will be vital for those competitors.

11. DDT Vs Union: KUDO, HARASHIMA & MIKAMI Vs Shuji Ishikawa, Sanshiro Takagi & Kengo Ohka

This event is the final day of voting in the DDT48 General Election 2011. This show is designed to give the contestants one last chance to win over the fans and hopefully get their votes. Every match except the main event will have a 10 minute time limit. A few names are missing from the card. Kota Ibushi is currently injured but still eligable for votes while Hikaru Sato and Kenny Omega will be busy wrestling in the final night of the AJPW Jr. Heavyweight League. I’m not sure where Ken Ohka, Yoshiaki Yago and Chou-un Shiryu will be on the night. I might have accidentaly left them out of the Battle Royal. But we do get El Generico taking part in the semi-main event.

Looking at the most recent standings, Hikaru Sato is in a comfortable lead with Kota Ibushu, Danshoku Dino and HARASHIMA trailing him by some distance. The real drama will be the fight for 18th place, as that is the cutoff for who will get to wrestle at Korakuen Hall on 23rd October. If Ibushi does not recover in time, then whoever finished in 19th place will also qualify to make up for Ibushi’s in-ring absence. The results of the election will be announced on the 29th September over at Shinjuku FACE.

The Shit Heart ♥ Foundation seems to be done for now. The Super Shit Machine has disappeared and Tomomitsu Matsunaga has been trying to get back in the good graces of Tsurumi Amon and the DDT roster. Also of note is Darkside HERO! showing up not long after Matsunaga’s apology was rejected. Funny coincidence, don’t you think?

Latest DDT48 Standings

September 12, 2011

The votes are still coming in thick and fast for the DDT48 Election. Everyone involved has been posting their videos saying why fans of DDT, Union, etc. should be voting for them to win the KO-D Openweight Title shot (or at least appear on the 23rd October show). The video messages will be posted on this site later in the week. Here are the current standings as of 10th September.

1. Hikaru Sato (240 Votes)
2. Kota Ibushi (176 Votes)
3. Danshoku Dino (150 Votes)
4. HARASHIMA (131 Votes)
5. Masa Takanashi (113 Votes)
6. MIKAMI (104 Votes)
7. KUDO (98 Votes)
8. Takao Soma (86 Votes)
9. Yasu Urano (84 Votes)
10. Keisuke Ishii (81 Votes)
– Antonio Honda (81 Votes)
12. Makoto Oishi (66 Votes)
13. Shigehiro Irie (63 Votes)
14. Sanshiro Takagi (56 Votes)
15. Mr. #6 (53 Votes)
16. Kenny Omega (45 Votes)
– Cherry (45 Votes)
18. Kazuki Hirata (44 Votes)
19. YOSHIHIKO (42 Votes)
20. DJ Nira (38 Votes)

Of course, the big story right now is Kota Ibushi’s injured shoulder. It is unknown how long Ibushi will be out for. However, he is still a part of the election and is still eligible for votes. DDT does have backup plans if Ibushi has not recovered by the time the October show takes place. If Ibushi wins the election but cannot compete, he will still win the prize money but the KO-D Title shot will be given to the runner-up. If Ibushi finishes in the top 18 but cannot compete, his spot on the card will be given to the wrestler who finished in 19th place.
