As soon as “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2016” is over and done with DDT will move onto the annual DDT Dramatic General Election. This is the 7th year the competition is happening in some form, originally called the DDT48 General Election when it first took place in 2010. 41 wrestlers from DDT plus a few guests will spend all of September campaigning for votes from fans to earn a spot on the 23rd October Korakuen Hall show. Everyone who finished in the Top 20 will qualify for the main show while those who finish between #21 to #24 will be put in the dark match. The prize for 2nd Place is 300,000 yen plus a KO-D Openweight Title shot on the October show. The grand prize for the election winner is 1,000,000 yen and a main event KO-D Title match at Osaka Edion Arena #1 in December. If the KO-D Champion finishes in either first or second place then he will get to choose his challenger for that title match.
This year the field is only open to the DDT, DNA and BOYZ brands. Last year’s winner Isami Kodaka and his BASARA brand have declined to participate this year. Although they are part of the DDT Family, they now treat DDT as rivals and want to distance themselves to focus on their own projects. Tokyo Joshi Pro is also not involved but no reason has been given for their exclusion. Sadly the limited field also means Hiroshi Tanahashi is not following up on his promise last year to enter the competition. Don’t know if a deal fell through or if it was just a joke I took seriously.

Voting begins at “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2016” on 28th August and ends on the 25th September Korakuen Hall show. The results will be announced in Shinjuku on 29th September. Fans will receive one voting ballot per show ticket as well as one ballot for every 3,000 yen spent at the merchandise tables and online store.

1. Daiki Shimomura defeated Nobuhiro Shimatani with the Asai DDT (7:39).
2. Character Wrestler King Final: Gota Ihashi defeated Rainbow Kawamura with a Body Press (9:18).
3. Keisuke Ishii & Kazuki Hirata defeated MAO & Rekka when Ishii pinned MAO with the Kneel Kick (10:58).
4. Kengo Mashimo defeated Mizuki Watase with the Mudo (14:06).
5. Mike Bailey & Kouki Iwasaki defeated Shunma Katsumata & Guanchulo when Iwasaki pinned Guanchulo with the Leg Capture Suplex (10:44).
6. Kazusada Higuchi defeated Kota Umeda with the Goten (17:19).
DNA will hold the first ever DNA Grand Prix this October to determine who is truly the strongest wrestler in the brand. It is a five day round robin tournament taking place between 17th October to 21st October in Shinjuku FACE. There will be two blocks with five wrestlers each. The winners of both blocks will meet in the finals and the prize is a one way ticket to New York! The DNA-GP will also allow something that is usually a big no no in pro wrestling. Fans attending the shows will be encouraged to film the matches on their phones. All DNA is asking in return is for the videos to be posted online with the hashtag #DNA_GP.
Kazusada Higuchi has to be the favourite going into the DNA-GP after beating Kota Umeda in the main event. Higuchi said that even though Umeda defeated KENSO last month, he is still not strong enough to be the DNA ace. That claim goes to Higuchi.
Mike Bailey continues to win over fans both in the audience and in the locker room during his stay in Japan. Bailey was confirmed as a participant in the DNA-GP, which is odd since the prize involves visiting a country he is supposedly banned from entering for the time being. Kouki Iwasaki wants to win the DNA-GP so he can go warrior training while living out the American Dream.
Kengo Mashimo wasn’t impressed by his opponent Mizuki Watase. He told Watase several times throughout the match that he is weak but it was all to bring out Watase’s competitive spirit. Mashimo even said his heart feels broken after fighting such an average wrestler.
Daiki Shimomura and Nobuhiro Shimatani both debuted on the same night but a shoulder injury meant Shimomura had to take time off for three months while Shimatani still wrestled. So it was quite an upset for Shimomura to beat Shimatani in the opening match despite having less experience in the ring. Shimomura said he wanted to win the match so much he had to find his hidden strengths. Shimatani meanwhile wants to quickly avenge his defeat.

The emergence of Tetsuya Endo challenging Konosuke Takeshita for the KO-D Openweight Title has created a small rift in Happy Motels for now. Antonio Honda is siding with Takeshita while Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi is siding with Endo. This leads to a tag team match between the two teams in Saitama.
DDT is using the Infomercial Match to shill their own exercise equipment. Kazuki Hirata & Saka Akai are two of the faces of the Dramatic Exercise Series brand.
With only two Right To Challenge Contracts left in play and one of them soon to be cashed in, Toru Owashi is now a targeted man. He’s been very patient when it comes to getting his title shot but with every upcoming match he risks losing that chance.

Amon Tsurumi has kept an eye over the feud between Sanshiro Takagi and KENSO this year and decided to do something about it. Both wrestlers have been on a rut in DDT so Tsurumi came up with the bright idea of making them team together to break that rut.

4. Kazusada Higuchi & Daiki Shimomura defeated Shunma Katsumata & Kouki Iwasaki when Higuchi pinned Iwasaki with the Doctor Bomb (12:11).

5. Kota Umeda defeated KENSO with a Backslide Pin (16:56).
6. Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo defeated MAO & Mizuki Watase when Takeshita pinned Watase with the German Suplex (18:49).
Konosuke Takeshita admitted he was feeling envy over his opponents today. One is now a pop idol and the other is dating LiLiCo. Mizuki Watase said he is approaching the end of his first year as a wrestler and he has yet to win a singles match. He wants to challenge Takeshita for the KO-D Openweight Title when he is strong enough. He then remembered MAO is also a year into his career.
Kota Umeda scored an upset in DNA’s honour when he defeated KENSO. Umeda was hotheaded and eager to put a stop to KENSO’s reign of terror but it was still a big challenge. Umeda kepy kicking out of KENSO’s moves, prompting KENSO to try a Superplex. Umeda pushed him off and hit a Diving Elbow Drop. He then ducked a Lariat and hooked KENSO in a Backslide Pin for the win. KENSO protested to the ref that it wasn’t a three count while Umeda celebrated. Umeda then challenged Kazusada Higuchi to a match to determine who the strongest DNA wrestler is. Meanwhile KENSO will never forgive Sanshiro Takagi for this injustice.
Higuchi has suddenly found himself back in the KO-D Title chase. He now has a Right To Challenge Contract after beating Kouki Iwasaki. Higuchi said he wants to cash it in fair and square against the winner of this Sunday’s KO-D Title match.

If you’ve lost track of the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title’s tour of America, here’s the list of champions since it left Japan up until 25th June. Joey Ryan, Rey Mysterio Jr., Ryan again (Rey fell asleep), Chuck Taylor (won it in a proper wrestling match), Scott Hall (won Rock-Paper-Scissors for the right to pin Chuck), Colt Cabana (officially with the dreaded Trapezius Nerve Hold), Ryan once more, Kikutaro (shitty weight spotter), Laura James (via seduction), Bunny (Laura’s pet cat), Ryan Nemeth (bribed the cat), Taya Valkyrie, John Morrison and now as of 25th June Ricochet. Title changes have been happening daily and videos are uploaded to Joey Ryan’s Twitter account and Youtube page. There are certainly more to come.

He’s fighting HARASHIMA because he ultimately wants to surpass him. Keisuke Ishii is also there because of their close ties together in Team Drift. They were champions together but now go their separate ways.
As one of the few remaining Right To Challenge holders, Kouki Iwasaki is in a dangerous position going up against a fresh out of retirement Dick Togo.

So to teach him a lesson LiLiCo puts her title on the line so she can crush him in the ring and create some happy memories with her boyfriend Mizuki Watase.
