Omega, Nakazawa & Sato Enter AJPW Tag League

March 11, 2012

Kenny Omega and Michael Nakazawa will be competing in their first tournament together as a tag team when All Japan Pro Wrestling holds the 2012 Junior Tag League next month. Omega & Nakazawa will be one of six teams competing in the round robin and will certainly be targeted by everyone else. Kenny has been constantly rubbing the All Japan roster the wrong way with his cocky behaviour while holding the AJPW Jr. Heayweight Championship. Meanwhile Nakazawa has been acting the nuisance towards Kenny’s challengers, doing what he can to disrupt their momentum in the lead up to fighting Omega.

Hikaru Sato will also be competing in the tournament teaming with All Japan native Hiroshi Yamato. Nakazawa and Sato recently reformed their Do Hentai Dan tag team in DDT but they have gone on separate journeys in All Japan. Who knows what will happen when they inevitably cross paths in the Tag League. The tournament will take place from 1st April to 14th April with the match list revealed once the final teams are announced.

Keisuke Ishii replaced Kazuki Hirata in the opener after Hirata suffered a concussion during the DDT show held earlier in the day.

Current Cards For October

DDT “NATIONAL CITY EVENT”, 01/10/2011
Asakusa ROX Supermulti Court

1. The Lightning Monster & Hiroshi Fukuda Vs Asakusa Kid & Shigehiro Irie
2. KUDO & Keisuke Ishii Vs HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano

This is a charity event taking place in an area affected by the earthquakes from earlier this year. The actual location for the free show is a football field. Instead of wrestling inside a ring, the matches will take place on a large mat instead. But knowing DDT, the action will surely spill out around the premises. The Lightning Monster and Asakusa Kid are two wrestlers from a micro indy promotion called Hana Wrestling.

DDT “NON-FIX 10.5”, 05/10/2011
Shin-Kiba 1st RING

1. Michael Nakazawa Vs DJ Nira, Masa Takanashi & Danshoku Dino (w/ Kota Ibushi)
2. Poison JULIE Sawada Vs Rion Mizuki
3. Yasu Urano & Antonio Honda Vs MIKAMI & Hoshitango
4. Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie Vs Daisuke Sasaki & Kazuki Hirata
5. Special Guest Referee: HARASHIMA Vs Darkside HERO! (Referee: Darkside HERO!)
6. KUDO & Makoto Oishi Vs Hikaru Sato & Takao Soma

Hikaru Sato is getting straight to work after winning the DDT48 General Election. He and KUDO face off in a Tag Team Main Event in the lead up to their KO-D Openweight Title match at the end of October. KUDO teams with his Homoiro Clover Z teammate Makoto Oishi in what will be Oishi’s first match as a full time DDT wrestler. Takao Soma will be at Sato’s side, the two earning each other’s respect over the last year.

Somehow HARASHIMA has gotten into a situation where his opponent will also the referee. Darkside HERO! has the advantage of bending the rules however it suits him. Will HERO! make an appearance so soon after losing to HARASHIMA?

However, Sato has requested not to team with his future opponent on this show. So Sato will instead have a singles match with Masa Takanashi while MIKAMI will now team with KUDO to take on Sanshiro Takagi & Munenori Sawa.

*V1 for El Samurai.
5. Bird Rebirth ~ KO-D Great Adventure: KUDO defeated Chicken Boy with the Diving Double Knee Drop (7:26).
7. Tokyo World Heavyweight Title: Sanshiro Takagi defeated NOSAWA Rongai (c) with the Sit Down Himawari Bomb (18:09).
*NOSAWA fails in V1. Sanshiro Takagi becomes the 2nd Tokyo World Heavyweight Champion!

Right, let’s see if I can do this without resorting to any taxi related jokes…

After his little incident in February, NOSAWA Rongai was forced to take an absence from wrestling. He returned in June for Minoru Suzuki’s charity event and since then has been slowly trying to get back in everyone’s good graces. Today saw NOSAWA get back in the driver’s seat (damn it!) and gather together his Tokyo Gurentai chums to promote their next show. DDT and Union had some involvement at the event. Hikaru Sato lost to El Samurai in a match for the X-LAW International Title, a Mexican belt previously held by NOSAWA back in 2010. KUDO dispatched of the Chicken Boy faster than the cab ride that brought him to the arena (sorry). Finally, Sanshiro Takagi defeated NOSAWA himself in the main event for the Tokyo World Heavyweight Title in what was said to be a fare fight (sorry again). After the match, Takagi brought back memories of NOSAWA first working for DDT 14 years ago, only to get interrupted by KIKUZAWA who wanted a shot at the belt.

3. Masanobu Fuchi, Jimmy Yang & BUSHI defeated Hikaru Sato, MAZADA & BLACK BUSHI when Yang pinned MAZADA with the Yang Time (12:44).
8. Jr. Heavyweight League – Block A: Kenny Omega [2] defeated KAI [0] with the Croyt’s Wrath (18:07).

Kenny Omega sent a loud message to All Japan Pro Wrestling, he wants the AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Championship! Kenny made a great start to the 2011 Jr. Heavyweight League by defeating the current Jr. Heavyweight Champ, KAI in the main event of today’s AJPW show in Korakuen Hall. After the match Kenny complimented KAI but also said All Japan needs a cool champion and he was here to become that champion.

Meanwhile Hikaru Sato was on the losing side of a 6-Man Tag featuring the League competitors that did not have a group match on the night. Sato will have his first League match on 14th September against Jimmy Yang.

Omega & Sato Vs All Japan, Ibushi Vs KUSHIDA

August 16, 2011

This September, Kenny Omega and Hikaru Sato are both crossing over to All Japan to compete in this year’s AJPW Jr. Heavyweight League. Omega has stated that he wants to win a singles title in Japan. Since his fellow Golden Lover is currently king of the New Japan Jr Heavyweight scene, Omega has set his sights on All Japan for his search of glory. Omega’s opposition in his group are the current AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Champion KAI, aswell as Kaz Hayashi, Minoru, BUSHI and BLACK BUSHI (who I assume is BUSHI’s non-union Canadian equivalent). Hikaru Sato returns to the tournament after a luke-warm win-loss record from last year. This time Sato’s opponents in his block are Shuji Kondo, Hiroshi Yamato, MAZADA, Jimmy Yang and New Japan’s Koji Kanemoto.

IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title: Kota Ibushi (c) Vs KUSHIDA

Meanwhile, Kota Ibushi has learned of his next challenger for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title. KUSHIDA surprised many fans by defeating Ibushi when they clashed at the Best Of The Super Jr. XVIII back in June. Now just five months after he joined New Japan full time, KUSHIDA gets his first shot at the belt.

DDT “MEMORIES OF SUMMER VACATION 2011”, 28/08/2011
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Minoru Suzuki Vs Hikaru Sato

Events at this weekend’s Ryogoku show has led to a major match set for Korakuen Hall next month. Minoru Suzuki pretty much destroyed Hikaru Sato when they fought each other during the 5 Vs 5 Elimination match. Sato wants to make up for it by challenging Suzuki to a singles match. Even though Sato grew up as a PANCRASE fighter like Suzuki, he now sees himself as a DDT wrestler and he wants to prove he can beat Suzuki one on one.

A full report on the Sumo Hall show is now posted. Several matches are already available to be watched if you know where to look. The last couple of days has been the busiest this site has been in its short life, so thank you very much to everyone who has been reading. If you’ve just discovered this place recently, I hope you stick around and enjoy what DDT and Union has to offer over in the future.

WEW Hardcore Tag Team Title: Kengo Mashimo & Ryuichi Sekine (c) defeated Kota Ibushi & YOSHIHIKO when Sekine pinned YOSHIHIKO with a Hardcore Body Press (24:40).
*V2 for Mashimo & Sekine.

Kota Ibushi & YOSHIHIKO joined forces and traveled down to Chiba Blue Field to take part in yesterday’s K-DOJO show (No confirmation on whether YOSHIHIKO got a window seat or was stored as luggage on the train ride over). They battled with Kengo Mashimo & Ryuichi Sekine over the WEW Hardcore Tag Team Championships. As you can see by the name of the title, it was defended under Hardcore rules. YOSHIHIKO stole the spotlight with a balcony dive onto the champions. He also joined Ibushi up on top of a vending machine for a double dive when everyone brawled out of the arena. However, the challengers just couldn’t do enough to grab the win. Mashimo & Sekine turned the tables thanks to a ladder. The ending came when Sekine buried YOSHIHIKO under a pile of chairs, climbed the top turnbuckle and splashed onto his opponent.

Hikaru Sato’s tournament run for the year continues to struggle. He and Kikutaro finished sixth out of seven teams in the AJPW Jr. Tag League. Their only victories in the tournament were over the teams of Super Crazy & BUSHI, and MAZADA & Super Hate. Hikaru claimed the wins in both matches, submitting Super Crazy with the Flying Cross Armbreaker and pinning Hate with a High Kick. Sato’s next tournament will be the King Of DDT where a shot for the KO-D Title at Sumo Hall will be on the line.

6. KO-D Openweight Title: Dick Togo (c) Vs Shuji Ishikawa

The KING OF DDT 1st Round lottery will take place during this show.

Tsurumi Amon has some big prize in store for the winner of the Royal Rumble.

This will be Hikaru Sato’s first match outside of the show opener since his self-imposed curtain jerking status. It also happens to include Kota Ibushi as one of his opponents. It was Sato’s big win over Ibushi back in October last year that led to him beating HARASHIMA for the KO-D Openweight Title one month later. Sato has been using his partnership with Kikutaro at the AJPW Jr. Tag League to warm himself up. He already made his mark by submitting Super Crazy in a league match a few days ago. With Sumo Hall coming ever closer, can he springboard himself back into the title race?

Union’s hopes of getting involved in the Best Of The Super Juniors tour is not looking good. Both of their homegrown talent crashed out in the first round, Ken Ohka losing to TKG48 member Tsuyoshi Kikuchi and Shinichiro Tominaga losing to Daisuke Sasaki. DDT faired a little better with Sasaki and Keisuke Ishii both going through to the next round. Kazuki Hirata was the only DDT rep who failed to get through, losing to Madoka. The tournament will finish on NEVER.7, taking place tomorrow.

NJPW, 15/05/11
Philadelphia Asylum Arena, USA

JAPW Light Heavyweight Title: Jushin Thunder Liger (c) Vs Kenny Omega

Kenny Omega has a big role to play when New Japan tours the United States. Back in America, Kenny spent a good part of his career in Jersey All Pro Wrestling. One of his most recent matches in the promotion was a 6-way Elimination match for the JAPW Light Heavyweight Title. He was knocked out of the match by the eventual winner, one Jushin Lyger. Now that Lyger is back in America for New Japan’s series of shows in the country, Kenny will challenge Lyger for the title one-on-one.

Hikaru Sato is getting ready to enter another tournament. This time he is going back to All Japan as a last minute entry for the AJPW Jr. Tag League. His partner? Kikutaro! Is this pairing strong enough to defeat the likes of Kaz Hayashi & KAI, Shuji Kondo & Hiroshi Yamato or Koji Kanemoto & Minoru? Did this year’s Wrestlemania have an exciting main event?
