DDT will return to Sumo Hall on 17th and 18th August 2013. That’s right, DDT will be doing two Ryogoku shows back to back! That’s not all, Sanshiro Takagi said that his goal for DDT’s 20th Anniversary is to run the Tokyo Dome!

Kota Ibushi defeats Kenny Omega in what could be the biggest match of both their careers. In a match that went nearly 40 minutes, both men put everything on the line for the right to be called KO-D Champion. Kenny targeted Ibushi’s right shoulder while Ibushi fought back with his sharp kicks. Pretty soon both men went high risk with Tope Con Hilos, Quebradas and top rope Frankensteiners were brought into play. Given their habits for fighting away from the squared circle, it was no surprise that their match soon spilled towards the entrance stage. It was there that Ibushi levelled up, climbed up a stage structure and Moonsaulted onto Omega below. Back in the ring they were both filled with smiles as they continued to throw everything they could at each other. Ibushi avoided the Avalanche One-Winged Angel and finally put Kenny away with the Phoenix Splash to end their spectacle.

The semi-main event was advertised as a Budokan match that only DDT could get away it. Danshoku Dino Vs The Invisible Man! Dino was given a special pair of glasses to wear so he could see The Invisible Man as they wrestled. He was also accompanied his fellow Homoiro Clover Z members as well as Yusuke Inokuma at ringside. But there was a dangerous new stipulation added on the request of The Invisible Man. The ring ropes were rigged up to an electric current. When the match reached the 5 minute mark, the ropes would get one million volts of electricity flowing through it. Any contact would create a powerful explosion. The Invisible Man, who has apparently been a part of DDT since Day 1 and been ignored for most of it, put all of his anger and frustration into the match. He sent a message to Sanshiro Takagi and the rest of the DDT locker room by giving Dino a Stunner then sent him flying into the ropes. The resulting explosion left Dino unconcious and defeated. The Invisible Man said that this was the beginning of his march to the main event!

One year after their match was set, Sanshiro Takagi and Minoru Suzuki went head to head at the Budokan. With a Weapons Rumble Handicap in his favour, Takagi carefully picked the weapons he thought would help him defeat Suzuki. Those ‘weapons’ turned out to be Mecha Mummy’s fist and drill (didn’t work), New Sanshiro Takagi (didn’t work), Yuzuki Aikawa (actually sort of worked), the entire Muscle Army (didn’t work, Suzuki easily destroyed them) and Yoshiaki Fujiwara (most effective of the lot). Takagi’s downfall came when Suzuki slipped off his shoulders during the Sunflower Bomb. Suzuki trapped Takagi with a Sleeper Hold and then hit the Gotch-Style Piledriver to win.

After the match, Takagi thanked Suzuki for fighting him on the big stage. Takagi felt this was the best wrestling show he was ever a part of and now it was time to retire. The crowd were shocked at the announcement and Takagi was given the ten bell salute. But Takagi then suddenly interrupted the ceremony to admit he was lying.

The Five-A-Side Football Match begun as a 10-Man Tag Team Ironman match fought in two halves. Each half was five minutes long. After the time was up the result was a tie. Tokatsu FC and Akira-waku FC bought scored two falls. A penalty shootout would take place as the tiebreaker. A penalty area with goalposts were set up on the entrance stage. Masa Takanashi and Hoshitango were the only ones to score their penalty shots, resulting in a victory for Tokatsu FC.

Cherry and Gota Ihashi both had to pull out of the Iron Man Royal Rumble due to illness. Cherry is suffering from rubella while Ihashi has acute enteritis. Speaking of the Rumble, Kyohei Wada was the referee. Yoshihiko came out impersonating A. YAZAWA and was the last man along with Yoshiaki Fujiwara in the Rumble. Their battle was described on Twitter by Samurai TV as a “Close Encounter Of The Third Kind.”

Saint Seiya Rion sang the Saint Seiya anime theme song for his entrance.

The Muscle Dark Match began without Muscle Sakai. Something happened that kept him from wrestling until he finally arrived via taxi and cleaned house, defeating the Style-E invaders with his Muscle teammates.

No anal explosion for Michael Nakazawa this year.
