5. Kengo Ohka defeated Hiro Tsumaki with the Shinken (13:21).
6. Shigehiro Irie & Takao Soma defeated Shuji Ishikawa & Ken Ohka when Soma pinned Ohka with the Boma Ye (11:40).
7. DDT Extreme Title: Isami Kodaka defeated Keisuke Ishii (c) with the Zan Isamu Leg (18:25).
*Keisuke Ishii fails in V2. Isami Kodaka becomes the 21st DDT Extreme Champion!

The DDT Extreme Title is once again wrapped around the waist of Isami Kodaka. The main event of today’s Union show saw Kodama defeat the champion Keisuke Ishii in a rare traditional singles match for that belt. After Isami’s victory, Ken Ohka took the time to brag about Kodaka winning back the title, asking Ishii why he lost so easily as well as calling him a third-rate wrestler. Ohka then challenged Ishii to a match there and then but Naomi Susan decided to hold off that match until next month.

Jun Kasai defeated Hiroshi Fukuda in the Texas Tiger Rope Philadelphia Banana Death Match. However, he did not win the Union Non-Certified US Heavyweight Title. According to Fukuda’s rulebook, the Union US Title can only change hands via pinfall or submission and Kasai won the match by eating a banana from all four corners of the ring. Later on, Kasai asked Fukuda what he thinks about America. Fukuda said he wants Japan to become a territory of the United States. When asked why, Fukuda said one of the pros will be bathrooms switching over from Japanese toilets to American toilets. Kasai joked that Keiji Muto has bad knees because of Japanese toilets. He was touched by Fukuda’s answer and since he is also a lover of liberty, Kasai agreed to help out Fukuda’s plan to Americanize the world!

Hiro Tsumaki requested a rematch with Kengo Ohka after he lost to him. Today was also Hiro’s last show wrestling under that name. He wants a new name for a new year. Tsumaki’s new name will be chosen from fan suggestions.

Ryuichi Sekine wrestled the Rock ‘N’ Roll Death Match while dressed as Ricky Fuji.

Union has a new rookie signing coming soon! Mitomi Masayuki is 170cm high and weighs 81kg. He has previously wrestled as Go Shiofuki and already made a couple of appearances in DDT under that name.

Ken Ohka set up a flea market outside Shin-Kiba 1st RING before the show. He was selling more than just DDT and Union merchandise, one of the items on sale was a Sega Saturn arcade stick.

*Team Dream Futures become the 1st KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions!

Team Dream Futures are crowned the first KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions. The trio went through Union and Team Castle to win the tournament but surprisingly avoided Ura-Shima-Hiro. Team Castle got the upset win over that side in the first semi-final when Makoto Oishi used the Jikiden Tornado Clutch to get a flash pin ob Hiro Tsumaki. Drift meanwhile defeated the Union team in the other semi-final with Keisuke Ishii pinning Ken Ohka while continuing to piss off Isami Kodaka. Shigehiro Irie was the deciding factor in the final, pounding down Akito until he was finally able to put him away with the Vertical Drop Back Flip. After receiving the title belts, Irie said he was happy to be with a team of good friends and 2013 was going to be his year.

Yuji Hino was able to defeat Danshoku Dino by countout but it was at the cost of his Monster Army allies getting deep kisses. Dino then chased Hino back to the locker room where loud noises could be heard afterwards. Only Hino was able to return to the ring in time but with his tights pulled down to reveal his backside. Hino’s victory means that he prevented Osaka from being turned into a “Gay Town”.

5. Hiro Tsumaki Vs Kengo Ohka
6. Shigehiro Irie & Takao Soma Vs Shuji Ishikawa & Ken Ohka
7. DDT Extreme Title: Keisuke Ishii (c) Vs Isami Kodaka

Keisuke Ishii has decided that he will defend the DDT Extreme Title against Isami Kodaka in a normal singles match. Ishii does not want the result to be decided with a cowardly attack involving weapons. He is under the impression that Kodama can only fight in Hardcore matches and does not know how to wrestle properly. Kodama thinks he can beat Ishii in any type of match. He also hopes he will win the belt and go on to fight the “Super Seiyan” Kenny Omega for the upcoming Double Title bout in DDT.

Daichi Kazato is the latest wrestler to be struck down with the flu that has been spreading around Japan the last couple of weeks. Gabaiji-chan the pro wrestling grandpa takes his place in the dark match.

Hiroshi Fukuda will now defend the Union US Title against Jun Kasai in a Texas Tiger Rope Philadelphia Banana Death Match. This is a match of his own creation inspired by Kasai’s monkey tendencies. The Philadelphia connection is from Kasai’s billed hometown while Fukuda himself claims to have grown up in North Carolina. The rules are based on the traditional Four Corner Strap Match with both men connected from the wrist with a tiger rope. However, there will be a bunch of bananas hanging on every corner. The winner will be the first one to eat a banana in every corner before his opponent.

7. DDT Extreme Title: Keisuke Ishii (c) Vs Isami Kodaka

The Union Vs Drift feud got more heated in Yokohama yesterday with Isami Kodaka pinning Keisuke Ishii only to get laid out by the DDT Extreem Champion afterwards. They’ll meet again in Osaka on 12/1 when Union and Drift fight each other in the KO-D 6 Person Tag Team Title Tournament and then two days later Kodaka finally battles Ishii for the Extreme Title with Ishii still to decide what match it will be. The feud continues down the card with the new BJW Death Match Champion, Shuji Ishikawa teaming with Ken Ohka to face Drift’s Shigehiro Irie & Takao Soma.

It is bad enough for Hiroshi Fukuda that he has to go one on one with Jun Kasai. Now he has to put the Union Non-Certified US Heavyweight Title on the line. At least things are beginning to look up for the guy when it comes to having managers. The last couple of months has seen Fukuda trying to win back Rumi Kazama’s trust while trying to handle the unwanted attention of Mame Endo. Fukuda’s profile has begun to rise and he is starting to turn him into a hot commodity in wrestling. So both Kazama and Endo have agreed to manage Fukuda together and both will accompany him for his match against Kasai.

7. KO-D Tag Team Titles: HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano (c) Vs Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega

HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano are two of the most accomplished tag team wrestlers in DDT. With 11 KO-D Tag Team Title reigns between them (6 for HARASHIMA, 5 for Urano), there are very few teams that can match up to them. The Golden Lovers may be one of those teams. Despite holding the KO-D Tag Team Titles only once together, Kota Ibushi and the current KO-D Openweight Champion Kenny Omega are one of the most popular tag teams to ever appear in DDT. So who better to get the first shot at the new champions?

No, not the Brahman Brothers!

3. KO-D Openweight Title & DDT Extreme Title: Kenny Omega (c) Vs Keisuke Ishii (c)

It’s possible that by the time this match comes around, Omega could be aiming to complete the KO-D Triple Crown by adding the DDT Extreme Title to both KO-D Championships.

The joshi queen of bouncy-bouncy, Yuzuki Aikawa has her final match in DDT teaming with one of her biggest supporters Sanshiro Takagi. Yoshiko comes along for the ride but will be disappointed she will not team with her beloved Kota Ibushi. Instead she gets to be with Danshoku Dino. I don’t think Dino is happy with the idea either.

6. Isami Kodaka & Hiro Tsumaki defeated Keisuke Ishii & Takao Soma when Kodaka pinned Ishii with the Isamu Leg (11:07).
7. KO-D Tag Team Titles: HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano defeated MIKAMI & Tatsumi Fujinami (c) when HARASHIMA pinned MIKAMI with the Somato (15:25).
*MIKAMI & Tatsumi Fujinami fail in V4. HARASHIMA & Yasu Uano become the 46th KO-D Tag Team Champions!

2013 already looks to be a good year for UraShimaHiro. The team of HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano successfully defeated MIKAMI & Tatsumi Fujinami to become the new KO-D Tag Team Champions! It was a crazy match which saw plenty of ladders being used, some were even brought in by Fujinami of all people. But UraShima were able to get rid of Fujinami and put MIKAMI down for the count with the Tombstone Piledriver followed by the Somato. Urano thanked Fujinami after the match and said he would be welcomed back into DDT anytime. Tsurumi Amon praised HARASHIMA and Yasu Urano and called them one of the strongest teams in DDT due to their vast combined success with tag team wrestling throughout their careers. But Amon pointed out they may not be the absolute No. 1 strongest team in DDT. HARASHIMA asked who was that team. Urano guessed the Golden Lovers. Amon took that as a nomination from the champions for their first title defence. So in Nagoya on 20/1 UraShima will defend the KO-D Tag Team Titles against Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega!

Tempers flared between Keisuke Ishii and Isami Kodaka in the build up to their DDT Extreme Title match in Union on 14/1. They will also cross paths again in the KO-D 6 Person Tag Team Title Tournament on 12/1 when Drift and Union face off in the semi-final. Today, Kodaka scored a pinfall over Ishii but a brawl broke out after the match and Ishii left Kodaka laying with the High Angle Double Arm DDT.

Kota Ibushi fell ill with the flu and had to miss the show, leading to a small shuffle in the card. Gota Ihashi was moved to the Battle Royal while Shigehiro Irie & DJ Nira were slapped together as a last minute team to face Danshoku Dino & Makoto Oishi. Despite the lack of preparation together, Irie & Nira were still able to win.

Michael Nakazawa, Hikaru Sato & Tomomitsu Matsunaga are now calling themselves 3CC Ltd Co. They want to get into the business of selling erotic DVDs of female wrestlers and the first talents they want to sign are Kana and Mio Shirai (Nakazawa’s a big fan of their recent gravure DVDs apparently). 3CC Ltd Co. brought along cameraman Yumehito Imanari to be in the ring and record the more suggestive moments of the match. Sanshiro Takagi didn’t like this and just wanted to have a normal wrestling match. Kana & Mio got the last laugh when they both made Nakazawa submit to a combined Armbar and Leglock, all while Imanari was filming it with gravure style camera angles.

Two new matches were announced for the 27/1 Korakuen Hall show. Yuzuki Aikawa will appear in DDT one last time before her retirement in April. She teams up with Sanshiro Takagi to face Danshoku Dino & Yoshiko. Also Kota Ibushi takes on Konosuke Takeshita.

Risa Sera from Ice Ribbon was the last name entered into the Young New Generation Battle. A.YAZAWA made his first appearance of the night to referee the bout which was turned into a Rock ‘N’ Roll Death Match. A.YAZAWA would pop up again in the Battle Royal.

IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title – 3 Way Match: Prince Devitt (c) defeated Agent 47 Low Ki and Kota Ibushi when Devitt pinned Ibushi with the Avalanche Bloody Sunday (14:45).
*V1 for Prince Devitt.

Kota Ibushi’s quest to regain the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship ended in failure over at the Tokyo Dome. Ibushi competed against the champion Prince Devitt and Low Ki in a rare 3 Way Match at New Japan’s annual 4th January Tokyo Dome event. Highlights include Low Ki wrestling the entire match dressed as Agent 47 from the Hitman video game series (the latest game will be released in Japan later this month) and acting just as vicious as that character, Devitt Double Stomping everyone, Ibushi flying around the ring as only he can and lightning quick action involving from all three wrestlers. Despite being able to get rid of Low Ki during a high risk moment on the turnbuckles, Ibushi was grabbed by Devitt and slammed to the canvas with the Avalanche Bloody Sunday where Devitt would then get the pinfall.

During the post-match interview, Ibushi told reporters that wrestling in a 3 Way match was harder than he thought it would be. It was different and he came in with the wrong strategy. He was also frustrated he didn’t win back the IWGP Jr. Title. However, he wants to continue fighting for the belt as much as he can and wrestle in Tokyo Dome again. He also said he wouldn’t lose a Falls Count Anywhere match against the others.

DDT brought in the new year with a team challenge between Tsurumi Amon and Sanshiro Takagi. With the roster split in half, the two teams fought each other with the grand prize of the box office gate being given to the winners. 30 Points were given for winning the match and 10 points were on the line for some minigames that took place between matches. Sanshiro Takagi had a secret weapon inserted into the main event, the AJPW Jr. & GHC Jr. Champion Shuji Kondo! The Double Champion came out and said he lost count of the amount of hours he’s spent inside Korakuen Hall the last couple of days but he wanted to help out Takagi.

The main event was a five match series with each match decided by a lottery that involved five long ropes laying underneath a blue cover. Each wrestler had to grab the end of one rope and when the blue cover was removed, the person revealed to be holding the other end was opponent. Points were on the line for every match in the series, which was vital since both teams were tied at 75 points each. In the first match, Sanshiro Takagi beat Shigehiro Irie. Hikaru Sato then tied the series by tapping out MIKAMI. HARASHIMA Vs Keisuke Ishii continued the stalemate when they fought to a time limit draw. Ishii hit the Double Arm DDT right before the time ran out. Kota Ibushi broke the deadlock by dumping Yasu Urano on top of his head with the 24 Year Old. The series all went down to Masa Takanashi Vs Shuji Kondo. Despite all his effort to survive, Takanashi fell to the King Kong Lariat and was pinned just seconds before time ran out.

A 32-Man Tag Team match was made with a whopping 300 points on the line to determine the winning team. However Shuji Kondo, Masa Takanashi Yoshiaki Fujiwara and DJ Nira had already left the building so the match became a 29-Man Tag Team bout instead. Takagi grabbed Amon and tried to give him the Stunner but accidentally pulled off his afro wig instead. Amon used the distraction to shockingly pin Takagi and win the entire challenge for his team!

The three New Year Minigames were as follows. Danshoku Dino beat Shigehiro Irie in a challenge where both men had to put a bucket filled with firecrackers over their heads and see who would last the longest. Dino was visibly panicking throughout the entire thing while Irie wasn’t budging at all. That was because Irie had actually fainted. I’m not sure if it was from fright or if he inhaled too much of the fumes. The second challenge involved member of Union and the Monster Army trying to make each other laugh while their mouths were full of milk. That ended in a mess and a draw. The final contest had HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano beat Kota Ibushi & Gota Ihashi in a eating contest that one wrestler standing behind his teammate and using his own arms to feed his partner piping hot food. Ihashi wound up getting a piece of radish in his eye by accident.

DJ Nira formed a plan with Dino, Batten Tamagawa and Cherry to defeat Yoshiaki Fujiwara and win the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title. The plan involved Tamagawa telling Fujiwara that there was a MILF in the audience who wanted to see him. Then as Fujiwara makes his entrance, Cherry would grab his attention from the crowd and flirt with him while Tamagawa dropped a steel basin from above in the balcony. Dino would then kiss Fujiwara, leaving him defenseless for Nira’s Rocket Punch. Sounds perfect, right? Nope. Fujiwara ignored Cherry, the  fallingsteel basin wasn’t as painful as it sounded, Fujiwara dodged Dino’s kiss and countered the Rocket Punch into the Fujiwara Armber to win the match. Yoshihiko (in its E. YOSHIHIKO form) suddenly showed up demanding a rematch with Fujiwara for the belt. The match went ahead and it was all Fujiwara until a Body Slam was countered into a roll up. Three seconds later, E. YOSHIHIKO became the new Iron Man Champion!

The 4 Way match ended in a No Contest when referee Daisuke Kiso kept on getting accidentally struck over the head with a steel basin by everyone else in the match.

A few announcements about DDT in 2013 were made at the beginning of the show. The two Sumo Hall shows in August will be named “Progress” and “Harmony” respectively. DDT will increase live programming for their Nico Douga channel online. They will increase the number of shows in different regions with shows set for Odawara, Sendai, Aomori, Yamagata and Kanazawa in the next couple of months. Takagi stepped in and said wrestling will not grow if they do not reach out to the local box office. Also, DDT now has a new recruiting process for hiring rookie wrestlers. Healthy males between the ages of 17 to 25 will be accepted into training immediately! Finally, DDT will launch their own advertising agency to go along with their other non-wrestling businesses. The agency will focus with advertising on flyers and vehicles.

Hiro Tsumaki had to pull out of the show due to suffering from a norovirus. Daichi Kazato took his place.

New Year’s Eve in Korakuen Hall was a very busy day with many different promotions getting together to celebrate the final hours of 2012. DDT, Big Japan and K-DOJO got together to celebrate the alleged 100th Anniversary of pro wrestling with Shiori Asahi and his fellow generation of wrestlers leading the way and booking the show. With two rings set up beside each other in the arena, there was plenty of space for some crazy shenanigans.

An Olympic Games style competition between the three companies took place throughout the evening with a large percentage of the box office on the line for the winning side. Not only were there points on the line in matches but other non-wrestling contests such as Judo, karaoke and a quiz were part of the competition. Unfortunately after the main event Shiori Asahi lost track of the results and a winner could not be decided. So a special bonus match took place, a sudden death Falls Count Anywhere free for all between all the wrestlers who were still in the building. Abdullah Kobayashi got the pinfall on Asahi and got to close out the show with a speech.

Hiroshi Fukuda faced a big challenge in the form of Osamu Nishimura. He used many tricks from American wrestling such as the trick handshake, the 10 Punch in the corner and using the ropes to choke his respectful opponent. However, the difference in skill and experience was far too much and Nishimura targeted Fukuda’s knee. He broke him down from there and submitted the young Fukuda with the Spinning Toe Hold. After that match, Nishimura told Fukuda he knew about his love of American wrestling, but the 70’s style of American wrestling that Osamu knows is more deep and interesting than the 80’s style that Fukuda obsesses over. Fukuda didn’t listen and was convinced Nishimura used magic to beat him. Fukuda thinks Nishimura is the best magician he has ever wrestled and that he himself will have to increase his MP (magic points from RPGs) to go along with his physical stength and wrestling technique.

Despite being left in a bloody state, Ryuichi Sekine said that wrestling in the Fluorescent Lighttubes Death Match was a lot of fun.

Sanshiro Takagi & Abdullah Kobayashi went into the Tag Team Gauntlet determined to win. They named their team GET MILD for the match and appeared to have won after they eliminated the dominant duo of Tommy End & Michael Dante. But a surprise came when the actual GET WILD team from All Japan made their entrance as a last minute final entry. Takao Omori & Manabu Soya quickly eliminated Takagi & Kobayashi to easily win the Gauntlet.
