DDT Dramatic General Election 2015

August 15, 2015

The DDT Dramatic General Election is back for another year. The winner of the election gets a KO-D Openweight Title shot on the 28th November show at Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium #1. The runner-up gets a title shot on 25th October. If the KO-D Champion finishes first or second then he will get to choose his challenger for that date’s title bout. Voting begins on the 28th August Tavern Wrestling show at Shin-kiba 1st RING and ends at Union’s 4th October Korakuan show. 5. Masa Takanashi defeated Antonio Honda with the Takatonic (13:58).
6. Beer Garden Specialty! 6-Man Lottery Tag Match: KUDO, Konosuke Takeshita & HARASHIMA defeated Shigehiro Irie, Yukio Sakaguchi & Kazusada Higuchi when KUDO pinned Kazusada with the Diving Double Knee Drop (21:55).

The final day of Beer Garden 2015 had a lot going on. This was the final DDT event before “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2015” on 23rd August so some of the matches were previews of what to expect in Sumo Hall.

fistbump

In the main event the two teams of three were decided by a lottery drawing. Each ball was picked out of the box by a random fan in the audience. The teams wound up being KUDO, Konosuke Takeshita & HARASHIMA on one side and Shigehiro Irie, Yukio Sakaguchi & Kazusada Higuchi on the other. This meant KUDO and Sakaguchi would face off one more time before their KO-D Openweight Title match. KUDO’s team got the win when they isolated Higuchi and bombarded him with a German Suplex from Takeshita, an 8×4 from KUDO, a standing Somato from HARASHIMA and then the Diving Double Knee Drop from KUDO to seal the deal. After the match KUDO and Sakaguchi finally put away the bad blood growing between them and bumped fists.

takatonic

Masa Takanashi scored another non-title victory over Antonio Honda. Afterwards Honda said he was exhausted after his match with Transparent Mel Gibson from Thursday and it has been a struggle for him to complete Beer Garden week. However the struggle is what makes him strong going into the most important chapter of his story. He said he will be ready for Takanashi when the DDT Extreme Title is on the line.

beergarden-moonsault

Things are looking good for Danshoku Dino, Super Sasadango Machine & Ken Ohka. They beat two thirds of the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions. However they got the win by beating the rookie Team Drift was teaming with. Kouki Iwasaki was put away with the Spear Of Flame from Ohka, the Verdict from Sasadango and a special beer spitting Moonsault from Dino. The challengers all agreed that they need a team name for the upcoming DDT Dramatic General Election. Sasadango came up with three options: Gamba Osaka, Gamba Wrestle One or Gamba Wrestle Dream Factory. They decided for the moment to call themselves the Gamba Wrestle Dream Factory.

triple-crucifix

Makoto Oishi found a very clever way to win the 4 Way Match, rolling over Kazuki Hirata, Hiroshi Fukuda and Suguru Miyatake with a Crucifix Pin all at the same time when the three were all busy singing together.

ajakong-team

But all of a sudden Aja Kong suddenly appeared for the first time in DDT since May. Kong located Amon Tsurumi at ringside and complained about not being on the Sumo Hall show even though she is still the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion. Tsurumi told her this year’s Battle Royal will be for tag teams instead of single wrestlers. Surprised, Kong began looking for someone to team with and picked Oishi. A frightened Oishi had no choice but to accept. Toru Owashi went over to Hirata and declared they will be in the Battle Royal. Miyatake suddenly hit Fukuda with the Heart Attack out of nowhere causing the lights to go out. When the lights came back on Yoshihiko was in the ring! It came to Fukuda’s rescue and attacked Miyatake, sending him packing. Yoshihiko and Fukuda are now joining forces for the Battle Royal.

lilico-ajakong

A press conference was held during the show for LiLiCo’s pro wrestling debut. She gave an update on her training, saying she is currently on around Week 4 or 5. She has a busy schedule but spends time every day in the gym. She announced her intention to enter the Tag Battle Royal at Sumo Hall but she doesn’t have a partner. Suguru Miyatake suddenly appeared and made his case to LiLiCo, flexing his muscles for her. LiLiCo was impressed and said Miyatake looks delicious. The press conference was then interrupted by Owashi, Hirata and Fukuda who all came out to make fun of Miyatake. Aja Kong then reappeared to confront LiLiCo. Kong had to be restrained by the others as the conference ended.

pantyhose

Everybody in Match #2 wore pantyhose over their heads, even Daisuke Kiso. Unfortunately for Kiso he got knocked out with an accidental Lariat from Toru Owashi. Owashi put Shunma Katsumata in La Magistral Cradle but Kiso was unconscious. Yukinori Matsui appeared at the entrance also wearing pantyhose over his head and he sprinted to the ring. However Matsui somehow caught himself on the ropes. Owashi still had La Magistral applied and Kiso eventually woke up to count the pin.

matsunaga-spit

After the opening match Tomomitsu Matsunaga told Daisuke Sasaki it’s been ten years since they first met. Matsunaga always wanted to team with Sasaki and he begged to join the Golden☆Storm Riders. Sasaki denied the request and apologised before leaving the ring. Matsunaga called him a bastard then spoke to Yasu Urano & Akito. He said he’s known Urano for over 10 years and fondly remembers the DDT Extreme Title match he had with Akito last year. He then begged to join Smile Squash. Urano and Akito turned him down and also apologised as they left him alone in the ring. Matsunaga would solve his unit problem later.

sakaguchi-boxer

Gota Ihashi took one last shot at getting rid of the King Of Dark Title before “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2015”. He challenged Ryota Nakatsu to a boxing match before the show started. Nakatsu was clearly winning the fight after Round 1 but Yukio Sakaguchi suddenly appeared and took his place in Round 2. Sakaguchi easily knocked Ihashi out.

pigging2015

Ihashi wasn’t done for the night. He came back out later in the show with Tomomitsu Matsunaga. Last year they were part of a unit called Booing. The unit was forced to split up after it finished last in the DDT Dramatic General Election. Now Booing is back! Joining them is Kouki Iwasaki. He said Ihashi has always been there for him when he needed help so this is him repaying the favour. Together the three of them are Booing 2015. Everybody in the crowd booed the announcement.

4. Turn Based Wrestling ~Endless Gig~: Danshoku Dino defeated Ken Ohka with the Beer Garden Danshoku Driver (18:35).
5. The Lamentations Of The 40 Year Old Wrestler – Enter Sandman 11 Way Falls Count Anywhere Match: Ken Ohka defeated Super Sasadango Machine, KUDO, Seiya Morohashi, Antonio Honda, Danshoku Dino, Yasu Urano, Tomomitsu Matsunaga, Soma Takao, Makoto Oishi and Gota Ihashi when Ohka pinned Dino with the Spear Of Flame (18:14).

Danshoku Dino and Super Sasadango Machine had a plan in mind going into their Beer Garden show. They wanted Ken Ohka to join them and go after the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles at Sumo Hall later this month. Ohka refused because DDT is Ganbare☆Wrestling’s enemy and he won’t team with any DDT wrestlers. Ohka stayed for the main event, an out of control 11 Way Falls Count Anywhere match with “Enter Sandman” playing throughout the entire match. Sasadango wrestled without his mask but had he face painted to look like the mask. Ohka capitalised by getting rid of KUDO after KUDO hit the Diving Double Knee Drop on Dino. Ohka then hit the Spear Of Flame to win. After the match he had a change of heart and accepted the offer to team with Dino & Sasadango.

In the semi-main event Dino could only win the match when a Tomoyasu Hotei played over the speakers. Ohka could only win during a B’z song. The fight went out to the parking lot where Ohka gave Dino a Brainbuster onto the pavement. As the two fought during Hotei’s “Be My Baby” Dino smashed Ohka in the head with a can of beer and hit the Danshoku Driver for the three count.

A cultural Mixed Martial Arts tournament filled up the undercard. Sambo Oishi represented newspapers, Gota Ihashi fought for pottery, Masa Takanashi supported games of Shogi and Yusuke Kubo came as a former student council president. Oishi beat Ihashi by blasting him with a loaded university newspaper. Before the next match began Choun-Shiryu ambushed Kubo with a baseball bat. Shiryu took Kubo’s place in the match arrived as a rakugo storyteller. Kubo returned with the bat and swung at Shiryu but hit Takanashi by accident instead. Yukinori Matsui still declared Takanashi the winner by disqualification. However Takanashi was in no condition to continue the tournament so Shiryu qualified by default. It was announced the final between Oishi and Shiryu will take place during next year’s Beer Garden series.

The 3 Way Match between Soma Takao, Yasu Urano and Tomomitsu Matsunaga had a weird set of rules involved. The match could only go on for three minutes at a time. When the time expired everyone had to go back to the locker room and wait until the following match ended before they could go back out and restart. The match wound up taking place out in the parking lot during Part 3. Takao was dunked into a rubbish bin by Urano and Matsunaga. It wasn’t until at the end of the show that Takao pinned Matsunaga to finally bring the match to an end. Even though the match took all night to finish, it only went on for 9:45 according to the official time keeping.

5. Tokyo Princess Cup – Final: Shoko Nakajima defeated Akane Miura with the Northern Lights Suplex (13:36).

Shoko Nakajima is the winner of this year’s Tokyo Princess Cup! Nakajima beat KANNA in the semi-final while Akane Miura beat Miyu Yamashita. In the final Miura refused to shake Nakajima’s hand before the match started. Nakajima kicked out of the Lariat Miura used to beat Yamashita. She then sent Miura into the ropes with a Hurricanrana and followed up with the Rider Kick 619. It was all over when Nakajima did the Northern Lights Suplex. Her prize for winning the tournament is booking rights for the next show on 29th August. Nakajima also challenged Saki Akai to a match in Shinjuku FACE on 22nd September. Akai came out and asked if Nakajima was Cinderella because she looks pretty dirty. Akai accepted the challenge and pointed out there is plenty of time between now and then. Akai bragged that she becomes more beautiful after every day so Nakajima better be ready for her.

Ai Shimizu is currently the poster girl for AT-X’s “Our Summer Festival 2015!” campaign. She was presented with a bouquet of flowers from last year’s poster girl Yukari Fukui before her match.

The 3 Way Match left everyone soaking wet. A small children’s pool was placed in the ring along with super soakers and water balloons for the girls to use. There was also a blindfold, baseball bat and watermelon for the girls to play split the watermelon. Yuka Sakazaki put both MIZUHO and Rika Tatsumi into the pool and attempted a Swan Dive Splash. Both girls moved out of the way and Sakazaki landed into the pool. She was then pinned by both of her opponents at the same time.

4. KUDO & Isami Kodaka Vs Yukio Sakaguchi & Hikaru Sato went to a Time Limit Draw (30:00).

The problems between KUDO and Yukio Sakaguchi put a damper on Shuten-dōji’s Beer Garden show. The two were not comfortable being near each other until the main event when they got to square off. Isami Kodaka and Hikaru Sato were also involved as the match went for the full 30 minutes without a winner. KUDO and Sakaguchi fought tooth and nail with each other as the final seconds counted down. Masa Takanashi and a few other wrestlers tried to cool things down by declaring a toast for today’s show. KUDO and Sakaguchi went along with it but the bad blood between the two is rising higher and higher.

The participants in the semi-main event all had to drink a glass of alcohol every time music was played. The song usually came on right when a wrestler was about to do a big move. A bunch of baseball bats were brought in first to be used as weapons but then everyone used them for a drunk game of dizzy bat. Everyone fell over except for Gota Ihashi. He thought it was the perfect oppotunity to do a Moonsault from the top rope but he missed his target. Ryota Nakatsu then swung his bat at Takanashi but he hit the rope and the bat deflected into his face. Nakatsu fell on top of Ihashi for the winning pinfall.

Masako Takanashi invited Emi Sakura, Riho and “Kotori” over to promote Gatoh Move’s big show at Korakuen Hall on 13th August.

Saki Akai was the ring girl for the opening match. Both teams had to wear boxing gloves and victory could only be achieved by knockout or submission.

4d. Konosuke Takeshita defeated Hiroshi Fukuda with a Frankensteiner (18:22).
4e. Overtime Sudden Death: Konosuke Takeshita defeated Hiroshi Fukuda with the German Suplex (1:28).

Konosuke Takeshita and Hiroshi Fukuda had an Ironman match that lasted from the time it started until 8:45 pm. I don’t know what time it begun but tweets about the match suggest that it lasted just under 20 minutes in total. Midway through the match when the score was tied one a piece, Fukuda bumped into the referee. The room darkened and suddenly “nWo Sting” appeared in the ring! He attacked Takeshita with a baseball bat and hit the Scorpion Death Drop. “Sting” then dragged Fukuda over Takeshita for the pin but he only got a two count. When the clock struck 20:45 the match ended in a 2-2 draw. Takeshita challenged Fukuda to sudden death overtime and it was accepted. The two collided over and over with Lariats but Takeshita caught Fukuda with a German Suplex to grab the victory.

Antonio Honda entered Shin-kiba 1st Ring today to face one of the toughest challenges of not just his career, but of his entire life. Transparent Mel Gibson flew into Japan on his transparent private jet to answer Honda’s challenge and the two went face to face in the ring as the live commentary team talked about Gibson’s movies. When Honda took control he drank from a bottle of whiskey and began impersonating Jack Nicholson’s character from Easy Rider. Gibson fought back until Honda started Hulking up. Honda applied a Guillotine Drop and told the ref to ask if Gibson would submit. Gibson yelled “Freedom!” Honda let Gibson go and talked about watching a match from a college wrestling club called HWWA. In that match a young wrestler named Harley Rape was fighting the Invisible Man. The point of the story is Honda learned that every person has their struggles, even invisible people. Honda invited Gibson to dance as Leonard Cohen’s “Bird On A Wire” played over the speakers. The two danced together until Honda hit Gibson with a cheap shot and pinned him with a Backslide. They still hugged afterwards.

Everyone in the Ladder match had to wrestle in hot pants. Daisuke Sasaki was given a wedgie as he climbed the ladder but he admitted it felt good. Ryu Gouma said Sasaki and Yumehito Imanari should have been arrested for public indecency. However when he was given a wedgie he too admitted it felt good.

Antonio Honda in an afro wig was the referee for Match #1. He was constantly finding ways to avoid counting pins made by Sayaka Obihiro. Eventually he was knocked out by Obihiro and Daisuke Kiso ran down to make the three count when Obihiro did the Half Hatch Suplex.

Tetsuya Endo was interviewed by Hisaya Imabayashi (nice to hear he recovered from his fatal car crash) at the start of the show. Imabayashi said Endo had a similar looking face to female astronaut Chiaki Mukai, Endo was offended by the comment. Takeshita had to step in and prevent a fight from breaking out.

In the dark match Yasu Urano had to face one of Fukuda’s friends. Shintaro Muroya wore one of Fukuda’s old wrestling costumes and was aided by Fukuda throughout the match. Fukuda laid out Urano with the Perfect Plex and told Murotani to climb the top rope. Murotani did so but hesitated to jump. He waited so long that he was counted out and the match was awarded to Urano.

3. HARASHIMA, Yasu Urano & Akito defeated Isami Kodaka, Shuji Ishikawa & Yusuke Kubo when HARASHIMA pinned Kubo with the Somato (21:16).

Smile Squash challenged Union to a 6-Man Tag match. HARASHIMA was able to make up for his poor sumo performance earlier in the day by scoring the winning pinfall on Yusuke Kubo while Yasu Urano & Akito dove out of the ring onto Isami Kodaka & Shuji Ishikawa.

During the opening ceremony HARASHIMA invited Danshoku Dino and Kota Umeda to shake hands for their upcoming match. Both Dino and Umeda clumsily messed up the handshake and bowed in apology, banging their heads together by accident. They started fighting and Kazusada Higuchi stepped in the break it up. Dino and Higuchi then accidentaly clashed heads. This somehow caused Dino and Higuchi to swap bodies so when the match happened, Dino wrestled the match in Higuchi’s body while Higuchi stood at Umeda’s corner in Dino’s body. After the match Dino in Higuchi’s body tried to have his way with Umeda but he was stopped by Higuchi in Dino’s body, Makoto Oishi and Ryota Nakatsu. All four banged their heads together and Dino ended up in Nakatsu’s body while Oishi was in Higuchi’s body. Everyone was left confused over who was who.

Shuji Ishikawa won the annual sumo wrestling tournament, beating last year’s winner Tomomitsu Matsunaga in the first round, Daisuke Sasaki in the semi final and Keisuke Ishii in the final. Ishikawa said it is his responsibility to fight Genichiro Tenryu at Sumo Hall later this month and it would have been shameful if he did not win this tournament.

Akito’s match for the show was fought under the old Hard Hit rules where you could win by pinfall, submission or scoring 5 total points from knockdowns and rope breaks.

Before the show began Hiroshi Fukuda was called to the ring by Yasu Urano to have a few sumo matches to warm up for the tournament. Fukuda’s opponent was a member of DDT’s video team named Ryohei Fukuda (probably unrelated). Ryohei wore Fukuda’s debut wrestling gear for the bout. The song “Marvin Gaye” played while Hiroshi beat his opponent three times in a row. Ryohei stripped down to his underwear for losing the match.

Today’s Beer Garden show had a bit of an international flavour to it. The T2Hide group were in charge and they wanted to do some Lucha Libre. Their opponents in the main event were three luchadors including the return of HERO! He was joined by Mascara Guerrera Jr. who tried to give Lip Locks to all of the wrestlers, and Brazo de Gotha who was fighting on behalf of the Ebisuko Tavern. T2Hide came close to losing the match but help came in the form of Seiya Morohashi wearing the Hirata GO! glasses. Kazuki Hirata hit the Mad Splash on Gotha for the three count. He told Morohashi after the match he is a terrible dancer but he thanked him for his help.

The Italian 4 Horsemen was represented for the first time in over five years as Antonio Honda returned to his Italian phase to team with Sasaki And Gabbana. They were able to beat their Chinese opponents by blinding them with “Italian Powder”.

French wrestler Louis Takanashi XIV won his match with the help of some Death Cakes that were thrown into his opponents’ faces.

Kazuki Hirata and Seiya Morohashi had a match to determine who was the better stretch trainer. Hirata had the power of his GO! glasses but Morohashi took them off while applying the Crippler Crossface. Hirata tapped out and Morohashi left with the glasses. He would return with them later as mentioned above.

At the beginning of the show Sanshiro Takagi considered changing the name of T2Hide in order to become more appealing around the world. He suggested the new name should be KAT-TOO and he held up the same sign Makoto Oishi made when he revealed his KAT-TOO team three days ago.
