Dino Vs Sapp – The Training Session
July 19, 2011Weirdest episode of HBO Boxing 24/7 ever.
Huh? What’s that? Oh, right. The Danshoku Dino Vs Bob Sapp public workout session was held yesterday. Sapp’s manager convinced the fighter to take it easy because they think Dino is week. Dino sparred with Tanomusaku Toba and showed Sapp a peak of what to expect for their match at Sumo Hall.

Ibushi Takes On Kaiju Big Battel

Way, way back in 2009 Kota Ibushi travelled over to America as part of Team DDT to wrestle for Chikara Pro during their big King Of Trios weekend of shows. The biggest memory Ibushi left on fans was him winning the Rey De Voladores tournament. However, some of you may also remember the Youtube video of Ibushi meeting up with Louden Noxious from Kaiju Big Battel where Kota requested to enter the Danger Zone and have a battel with some of the notorious Kaiju. Hopes were raised and T-shirts were made to support the idea but nothing ever really came from it. When Ibushi returned to the USA for the debut EVOLVE show in January 2010, he paid a visit to Studio Kaiju along with Michael Nakazawa and Munenori Sawa (who had his own confrontation with some of the monsters, as can be seen here) but again it looked like the plan to bring him in for a Kaiju show just wasn’t going to happen. However, both parties still had a plan up their sleeves.
As you can see, Ibushi ended up writing a letter to the Kaiju Commissioner in hopes of getting to fight a Kaiju, any Kaiju. He could have fought side by side with The Heroes to battel the evil Dr. Cube and his henchmen, he could have fought an epic battel with Uchu Chu The Space Bug, he was even willing to step into the Danger Cage against the psychotic Kung Fun Chicken Noodle. Unfortunately due to the slight setback of the Commissioner being murdered and Dr. Cube taking over the company, Ibushi was informed that he would never get the chance to fight in Kaiju Big Battel. Disappointed but not losing hope, Ibushi journeyed over to Dr. Cube’s hideout to take matters into his own hands.

Dino Vs Sapp – The Contract Signing
July 16, 2011DDT held a press conference yesterday for Danshoku Dino and Bob Sapp to publicly sign the contract for the long-awaited (???) grudge match at Sumo Hall on 24th July. Sapp clearly sees his opponent as a big joke and is treating the match as nothing more than a “easy payday”. However, Dino got under Sapp’s skin when he snuck up and placed a wig on his head. When the contract was signed, Sapp took a big bite out of the piece of paper. Dino meanwhile crumpled up the contract and rubbed it against his crotch and also Sapp’s crotch. Sapp’s final message to Dino was a grim one: “I am far from gay. But I’ll tell you what, I may go to jail…for killing one!”
YOSHIHIKO appeared before the conference began as it was announced he was taking part in the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Battle Royal at the show. He stayed in the room to watch over the Dino Vs Sapp contract signing.

In unfortunate news, it was announced on the DDT website that their Nico Nico Curry restaruant will close down on 24th July. Both Union wrestler Cherry and DDT referee Kiso Daisuke thanked everyone who became their customers during their time working there. DDT still runs the Dropkick Bar and Ebisuko Curry restaurant in Kabukicho, Shinjuku.

The main event of this week’s Monthly Young Communication event had Keisuke Ishii and Shigehiro Irie fight to a 20 minute draw. A rivalry has been building up between the two top prospects from the newest generation of DDT and Union wrestlers so when their most recent battle ended in a stalemate, they both requested a rematch. Tsurumi Amon complied and made the match for 24/07 at Sumo Hall.
So far 12 competitors have been added to the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title Battle Royal. Antonio Honda is currently the champion but there is no doubt the title will change hands numerous times before we get to Sumo Hall. Expect more entries to appear in the match as well. This will also be Makoto Oishi’s first match back since his injury from last month put him on the sidelines..
An election has taken place to determine the lucky man who will participate in the Anal Blast opening ceremony. Three names have been put forward: Michael Nakazawa (nominated by himself), Batten Tamagawa (nominated by Sanshiro Takagi) and Tanomusaku Toba (nominated by Danshoku Dino). Even better is voting is open to the public. You, yes YOU can help decide who gets the honour of participating in the ceremony.

So this means Giant Robin will be Shuji Ishikawa.
Luscious Latasha is an 8 year veteran and has been recently wrestling in Japan for the REINA promotion.

KUDO suffered a demoralising defeat to Shuji Ishikawa in the Tag Team main event of yesterday’s Union show. The Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title has been very active since its return two months ago. The belt has already changed hands 21 times and no one knows who will be the Champion going into the Battle Royal at Sumo Hall. Right now Antonio Honda is the current champion and he will defend the belt against Daisuke Sasaki & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi on 10th July.

DAY”, Wednesday is “BOYZ DAY” which sees the return of the brand filled with pretty boy wrestlers, Thursday is “KENNY OMEGA & MICHAEL NAKAZAWA DAY”, Friday is “TSURUMI AMON DAY” where he promises to bring back the spirit of WCW, and Saturday is “DDT DAY”.

The KO-D Tag Team Champions of HARASHIMA & HERO! will have twice the trouble to handle at Sumo Hall when they defend the titles against two teams. On one side is the former KO-D Tag Champions GENTARO & Yasu Urano. On the other side will be a team featuring either Michael Nakazawa or Masa Takanashi plus a partner of thier choice. Nakazawa and Takanashi will be competing over who gets the spot over the next couple of shows.
The 5 Vs 5 Elimination match features Hikaru Sato and Takao Soma putting aside their differences to fight a common enemy. They along with Sanshiro Takagi and Kazuki Hirata will team up to fight the Susan Shit Hart Superstars. However, The Superstars had a trick up their sleeve and announced that Minoru Suzuki will be part of their team. This leads to a daunting task for Hikaru Sato as he now has a fellow member of PANCRASE Mission as his enemy on the night. But his team has room for one more wrestler to compete. Will Takagi bring along one of his TKG48 buddies to the fight?
Just like last year, Sanshiro Takagi will be pulling double duty on the show. He and Munenori Sawa will have their rematch against The Great Sasuke & Ricky Fuji for the coveted Big China Unified Nakahara Tag Team Titles in the Dark Match of the evening. Legendary referee Kyohei Wada will be the official for the bout once more. The previous match was plagued with countout finishes so this one may very well be Falls Count Anyhwere to determine a clear winning team the first time round.
There is much discussion going on behind the scenes in DDT over who gets the dubious honour of receiving the now traditional “Anal Blast” ceremony to open this year’s show. So far Michael Nakazawa and Batten Tamagawa are the top two choices considered. Nakazawa has been part of the ceremony for the previous two shows while Tamagawa probably realises this is the only chance he’ll ever get to have an important role at a Sumo Hall show, even if it means having fireworks shoved up where the sun don’t shine. This would be a weird time to try and do a segue way connecting Tamagawa’s American flag themed gear to wishing all of the American readers a happy Independence Day, wouldn’t it?
