1. Kazuaki Mihara, Koji Iwamoto & Gurukun Mask defeated Daichi Kazato, Hi69 & Kazuhiro Tamura when Mihara submitted Kazato with a Camel Clutch (13:53).
2. 3 Way Match: Ryu Gouma defeated Atsushi Maruyama and Rekka when Gouma pinned Maruyama with a Reverse-Style Splash (7:31).
3. FUMA & Madoka defeated Hiroshi Fukuda & SAGAT when FUMA pinned SAGAT with the HEAVY METAL ANTHEM (11:00).
4. Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title: Shiori Asahi (c) defeated Yusuke Kubo with the Aun (15:28).
*V4 for Shiori Asahi.
5. Hercules Senga & Tsutomu Oosugi defeated Ryuichi Sekine & Ryota Nakatsu when Senga pinned Nakatsu after the PICTURES (13:58).
6. Isami Kodaka defeated Takumi Tsukamoto with the Isamuashi Zan (16:57).

During the main event both Isami Kodaka and Takumi Tsukamoto threatened to use their weapons on each other. After an early lock up Tsukamoto went out of the ring and grabbed his massive hammer. Kodaka then grabbed his samurai sword. Kyohei Wada had to tell both of them to drop their weapons and apologise to each other. Tsukamoto later used his hammer to whack Kodaka in mid-air during a Tope Suicida spot. Tsukamoto apologised to Wada afterward. Kodaka avoided the Drake Driver and felled Tsukamoto with Knee Strikes and the Isamuashi Zan. The two wrestlers paid each other compliments after the match and Kodaka was ready to close the show when Hiroshi Fukuda and SAGAT interrupted him. With Fukuda speaking on his behalf, SAGAT challenged Kodaka to a match on 13th March. Kodaka accepted.

Cavalry lost to Speed Of Sounds in the semi-main event but were quick to ask for a rematch. It was refused with SOS citing that their enthusiasm isn’t enough to convince them. Instead two single matches were booked for 3rd March: Ryota Nakatsu Vs Hercules Senga and Ryuichi Sekine Vs Tsutomu Oosugi. Unfortunately reports came out after the show that Senga injured his jaw during the match and could be out of action for a while.

When Yusuke Kubo failed to win the Independent World Jr. Heavyweight Title he was comforted by FUMA & Madoka. FUMA called him a true heavy metal samurai and asked him to join his heavy metal team. Kubo shook FUMA’s hand and grabbed a guitar. FUMA said a new metal warrior is now born and together they will take over BASARA! For the moment the group is called Kotetsu Gundan.

Fukuda isn’t a fan of FUMA’s heavy metal personality. Fukuda is more of a classic rock ‘n’ roll kind of guy. Same with SAGAT according to Fukuda. FUMA told them their long hair does not have to stop them from head banging. When FUMA went for his HEAVY METAL ANTHEM Diving Elbow Drop he yelled “I received a judgement from Lucifer!”

Fukuda & SAGAT Vs New Gen Combo and Kodaka Vs Akito were announced for the next Tavern Wrestling show held on 8th March.

4. Danshoku Dino & Mizuki Watase Vs Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie ended in a No Contest (9:30).

6. Antonio Honda, Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo defeated Isami Kodaka, Ryota Nakatsu & SAGAT when Takeshita pinned SAGAT with the German Suplex (13:46).
7. Yukio Sakaguchi & Masa Takanashi defeated HARASHIMA & Akito when Takanashi pinned Akito with the Takatonic (14:26).

Momentum is building for Masa Takanashi. He’s been on a small winning streak ever since he pinned HARASHIMA and became the No. 1 Contender. He urged the Osaka crowd to come see him fight for the KO-D Openweight Title on 31st March.

The build up to next week’s KO-D Tag Team Title match saw Happy Motels beat BASARA. The champions said when it comes to them, 1 + 1 doesn’t equal two. It equals 10 or maybe even 100! Isami Kodaka told them 1 + 1 does equal 2 and wrestling is not math! He and Ryota Nakatsu will teach them a lesson next week. When the BASARA team left Konosuke Takeshita spoke to the audience and called today his coming of age celebration.

Candice LeRae’s DDT adventure continued with her dancing with Kazuki Hirata before she gave him the Ball Plex. Daisuke Sasaki again proposed to Candice after the match. Candice told Sasaki she’s not interested in him and she already has a boyfriend. Sasaki didn’t take the rejection well and tried to attack but he was given the Ball Plex. Candice then asked Sanshiro Takagi if she and Joey Ryan can wrestle on the 21st March Sumo Hall show. Takagi said “OK!”

Danshoku Dino was in an extra horny mood and everything Mizuki Watase did made Dino very excited. The match had to be stopped when Dino stripped Watase and tried to have his way with him. Watase was traumatised by what happened and wants to stay away from Dino for good.

Suguru Miyatake dislocated his right shoulder on yesterday’s show and was unable to compete today. Kuishinbo Kamen took his place in Match #3.

Hiroshi Fukuda won the 4 Way Match while singing a song from Princess Mononoke. Fukuda thinks he is now ready to face Daisuke Sekimoto at BASARA’s debut show in 2st February. He is ready to bring American Strong Style to fight Sekimoto’s Japanese Strong Style!

Isami Kodaka Launches Pro Wrestling BASARA

October 18, 2015

basara-forms

Last week during the DDT Dramatic General Election results show there was a few news items about the aftermath of Union’s closure. The big news is the formation of a new wrestling organisation called Pro Wrestling BASARA. Led by Isami Kodaka, BASARA aims to rebel against the industry’s current regime with flashy wrestling. Kodaka was joined by former Union wrestlers Hiroshi Fukuda, Daichi Kazato, Ryu Gouma and SAGAT as the first wrestlers signed to the new brand. FUMA has also joined the group according to Kodaka. Kazato said he wants to dye his own colours into BASARA, SAGAT said he will work hard for the new brand, Gouma said he is here because BASARA was missing intelligence and compliance without him, and Fukuda said he wants to continue pursuing the wrestling he believes in and that involves the power of singing.

The first four BASARA shows will take place next year on 21st January in Shinjuku, 5th February in Saitama, 21st February in Osaka and 26th February in Yokohama. Kodaka said he wants to book shows in more rural areas in Japan and might do two shows a month if BASARA becomes successful. He will continue to promote the Tavern Wrestling shows alongside BASARA aswell as take outside bookings but the new brand is his priority.

Not everyone from Union is jumping over to BASARA, instead they have gone down different roads. Seiya Morohashi, Cherry and Lady Beard have all been signed by DDT. Morohashi said a lot has changed in DDT during the six years he has been gone. Cherry is happy to return to the company she debuted for and she is now a coach in a wrestling school DDT is associated with. Lady Beard is excited to work for DDT. Shuji Ishikawa and Mitomi Masayuki have both become freelancers. Masayuki wants to work for a variety of groups and prefers to take bookings on his own from now on. He thanked the entire DDT company for everything he learned during his time here. Yusuke Kubo and Daichi are both leaving wrestling. Kubo has gone back to working for DDT’s video production team while Daichi wasn’t booked much even as a part-timer.

3. Antonio Honda defeated Transparent Mel Gibson with a Backslide Pin (22:15).
4. Ironman Match: Konosuke Takeshita (2) Vs Hiroshi Fukuda (2) ended in a Draw (8:45pm).

4b. Hiroshi Fukuda defeated Konosuke Takeshita with a Harai-Goshi (7:48).
4c. Hiroshi Fukuda defeated Konosuke Takeshita with the Perfect Cradle (13:36).
4d. Konosuke Takeshita defeated Hiroshi Fukuda with a Frankensteiner (18:22).
4e. Overtime Sudden Death: Konosuke Takeshita defeated Hiroshi Fukuda with the German Suplex (1:28).

Konosuke Takeshita and Hiroshi Fukuda had an Ironman match that lasted from the time it started until 8:45 pm. I don’t know what time it begun but tweets about the match suggest that it lasted just under 20 minutes in total. Midway through the match when the score was tied one a piece, Fukuda bumped into the referee. The room darkened and suddenly “nWo Sting” appeared in the ring! He attacked Takeshita with a baseball bat and hit the Scorpion Death Drop. “Sting” then dragged Fukuda over Takeshita for the pin but he only got a two count. When the clock struck 20:45 the match ended in a 2-2 draw. Takeshita challenged Fukuda to sudden death overtime and it was accepted. The two collided over and over with Lariats but Takeshita caught Fukuda with a German Suplex to grab the victory.

Antonio Honda entered Shin-kiba 1st Ring today to face one of the toughest challenges of not just his career, but of his entire life. Transparent Mel Gibson flew into Japan on his transparent private jet to answer Honda’s challenge and the two went face to face in the ring as the live commentary team talked about Gibson’s movies. When Honda took control he drank from a bottle of whiskey and began impersonating Jack Nicholson’s character from Easy Rider. Gibson fought back until Honda started Hulking up. Honda applied a Guillotine Drop and told the ref to ask if Gibson would submit. Gibson yelled “Freedom!” Honda let Gibson go and talked about watching a match from a college wrestling club called HWWA. In that match a young wrestler named Harley Rape was fighting the Invisible Man. The point of the story is Honda learned that every person has their struggles, even invisible people. Honda invited Gibson to dance as Leonard Cohen’s “Bird On A Wire” played over the speakers. The two danced together until Honda hit Gibson with a cheap shot and pinned him with a Backslide. They still hugged afterwards.

Everyone in the Ladder match had to wrestle in hot pants. Daisuke Sasaki was given a wedgie as he climbed the ladder but he admitted it felt good. Ryu Gouma said Sasaki and Yumehito Imanari should have been arrested for public indecency. However when he was given a wedgie he too admitted it felt good.

Antonio Honda in an afro wig was the referee for Match #1. He was constantly finding ways to avoid counting pins made by Sayaka Obihiro. Eventually he was knocked out by Obihiro and Daisuke Kiso ran down to make the three count when Obihiro did the Half Hatch Suplex.

Tetsuya Endo was interviewed by Hisaya Imabayashi (nice to hear he recovered from his fatal car crash) at the start of the show. Imabayashi said Endo had a similar looking face to female astronaut Chiaki Mukai, Endo was offended by the comment. Takeshita had to step in and prevent a fight from breaking out.

In the dark match Yasu Urano had to face one of Fukuda’s friends. Shintaro Muroya wore one of Fukuda’s old wrestling costumes and was aided by Fukuda throughout the match. Fukuda laid out Urano with the Perfect Plex and told Murotani to climb the top rope. Murotani did so but hesitated to jump. He waited so long that he was counted out and the match was awarded to Urano.

1. HARASHIMA, Akito & Yasu Urano defeated Kota Ibushi, Daisuke Sasaki & Suguru Miyatake when HARASHIMA pinned Miyatake with the Somato (18:39).
2. Danshoku Dino & DJ Nira defeated Sanshiro Takagi & MIKAMI when Dino pinned MIKAMI with the Nenbutsu Danshoku Driver (6:37).
3. Toru Owashi & Makoto Oishi defeated Kazusada Higuchi & Shunma Katsumata when Oishi pinned Katsumata with the Miracle Ecstasy (10:07).
4. Konosuke Takeshita defeated Kota Umeda with the 19 Years Old (13:23).
5. Antonio Honda & Tetsuya Endo defeated KUDO & Masa Takanashi when Honda pinned Takanashi with a Cradle (12:19).
6. Kazuki Hirata Tokyo GO Numbers Game – 2nd Round: Yukio Sakaguchi defeated Kazuki Hirata with a Skewered Jumping Knee (9:29).
7. Keisuke Ishii, Shigehiro Irie & Tomomitsu Matsunaga defeated Daisuke Sekimoto, Yuji Okabayashi & Kazuki Hashimoto when Irie pinned Hashimoto with the Beast Bomber (21:23).

The build-up over the KO-D Tag Team Titles is getting tense. Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie scored a victory over the champions with the help of Tomomitsu Matsunaga taking the place of an injured Soma Takao. Ishii & Irie praised the strength of Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi but they said they will absolutely take the belts from them. Okabayashi warned that the challengers will be crushed soon enough.

Yukio Sakaguchi wore the HIRATA GO glasses and used the power of the music to punch and kick Kazuki Hirata unconscious.

After Hiroshi Fukuda avoided a dark fate by winning the King Of Dark Title Match, Amon Tsurumi asked if he had gotten a chance to speak to Barack Obama about when to cash in his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract. Fukuda said it is a sensitive issue and he will cash in at an appropriate time. So don’t miss it!

Turned out the appropriate time was halfway through the show. Fukuda declared his cash in and was ready for Kota Ibushi! Unfortunately Ibushi was no longer in the building. His match took place at the beginning of the show and he was allowed to leave early so he could prepare for his IWGP Heavyweight Title match in New Japan tomorrow. Fukuda asked who was more important, himself or AJ Styles? Tsurumi said probably Styles. Fukuda then claimed he will cash in his contract tomorrow after the New Japan show. He was told he can’t because DDT is not running any shows tomorrow. Fukuda gave up and asked when is the next DDT show taking place in or near Tokyo. That would be 19th April in Kasukabe Hall. Fukuda said that date will be hard for him to do but he did not rule it out.

Akito nominated Daisuke Sasaki as the No. 1 Contender for the DDT Extreme Title. Sasaki defeated Akito by submission when they last fought each other one on one. That only took place back in March. The rematch will take place on 19th April.

In the battle of the 19 year olds, Konosuke Takeshita pinned Kota Umeda with a Vertical Drop Brainbuster. To mark the occassion Takeshita’s Brainbuster will now be called the 19 Years Old much like how Genichiro Tenryu named his Brainbuster the 53 Years Old.

Danshoku Dino channelled the spirit of Jinsei Shinzaki for his tag match. He wore a similar pilgrim costume and performed a couple of Shinzaki’s taunts and spots including the rope walk.

One day before his IWGP Title Match, Kota Ibushi sent a message to AJ Styles by using the Styles Clash… on his own tag team partner? Ibushi came up with the bright idea of turning the Styles Clash into a double team move, doing it to Suguru Miyatake on top of HARASHIMA. However HARASHIMA recovered and hit the Somato on Miyatake to win the match for Smile Squash. HARASHIMA wished Ibushi luck for tomorrow and to be ready for their KO-D Openweight Title match on 29th April.

7. UWA World Tag Team Titles: Isami Kodaka & FUMA (c) defeated Hikaru Sato & Shibata when FUMA pinned Sato with an Armbar Cutback (18:26).
*V2 for Isami Kodaka & FUMA.

The UWA World Tag Team Champions successfully defended their title with a surprising finish when FUMA pinned the Union MAX Champion, Hikaru Sato. Sato’s partner Shibata fought with his GoPro camera strapped to him as always but this time he used it as a weapon. It eventually backfired when he swung it at FUMA but wound up hitting Sato instead. Sato almost stole the win when he was given a German Suplex by FUMA but recovered quick enough to lock on an Armbar. But FUMA rolled on top of Sato and pinned him while still in the submission hold. Sato attacked FUMA after the bell but he was chased away by Daichi Kazato and SAGAT. FUMA told Sato that he was a champion and his title is not an amateur belt. He then threw out a challenge for the Union MAX Title. Naomi Susan confirmed the match will happen on 17th December. FUMA then said he hopes Union will begin its tenth year with him as the champion.

Hiroshi Fukuda gave a lot of praise to MEN’S Teioh & Madoka for their victory over Daichi Kazato & SAGAT. Fukuda said their combination of technique and speed made them the best tag team around and they should reform the Men’s Club. Madoka rejected the idea and wanted to talk to Naomi Susan. Madoka was upset at Union because they no longer do any Aipoke Presents matches! The only reason he is in Union is so he can wrestle for the Idea Pocket idols that used to appear on the show. According to him, the Aipoke matches were the pinnacle of Union. Susan said it is impossible to bring it back because their relationship with the company ended months ago. Madoka stormed off and said he will bring Idea Pocket back himself if he has to!

Kazushi Miyamoto recently announced he will retire at the end of the year. But he still had time to wrestle in Union before he left. He had plenty of advice to give Tomoya Kawamura after their match. He said Tomoya should eat plenty of rice and gain plenty of protein every day. He then bonded with Seiya Morohashi over their bodies and they decided to team up. They already have a team name. They are called Kazushi’s GYM Bodybuilding Circle.

A minute of silence was given at the beginning of the show for Koichiro Kimura.

Ladybeard’s new finisher called the Women’s Liberation is a Spin Kick.

5. Hiroshi Fukuda Send Off Battle Royal: MEN’S Teioh defeated SAGAT with the Perfect Plex (21:17).
Order of Elimination: Nazo Fukumen J, Mitomi Masayuki, Ladybeard, Mame Endo, Tomoya Kawamura & Daichi Kazato, Goro Jr., Ryuma Go, Shuji Ishikawa, Cherry, FUMA, A.YAZAWA, Mio Shirai, Hosomino Shyboy, Isami Kodaka and SAGAT.

Today’s Union show featured the final appearance of Hiroshi Fukuda before he transfers over to All Japan. Unfortunately Fukuda suffered a dislocated shoulder blade during the week and was unable to wrestle. He told the fans that the injury is healing slowly and he will not rush back to the ring before he is ready.

Fukuda hosted the main event Royal Rumble that was created to crown the new Mr. Perfect. The match saw the return of a Nazo Fukumen, the mysterious masked man gimmick Fukuda was involved with last year when he was banished from Union. This one was unmasked by SAGAT and revealed to be Jun Kasai! The rest of the field was filled with Union wrestlers and unexpected participants such as A.YAZAWA, Mame Endo and musician Hosomino Shyboy. MEN’S Teioh was the last man standing, lastly pinning SAGAT with the Perfect Plex. Fukuda presented Teioh with a crown, cloak and tambourine to officially recognise him as the 2nd generation Mr. Perfect!

Daichi Kazato refused to shake hands with Isami Kodaka after the semi-main event. Shibata recorded the match with his GoPro and said he will send it to Hikaru Sato so they can prepare for the UWA World Tag Team Title match on 3rd November.

The inter-gender trios match became more heated when Ryu Gouma blamed Union’s joshi division for impacting the company’s profits. Cherry argued that couldn’t be true. She also said she was the only person in the match who finished in the Dramatic General Election Top 20. Gouma said he was using this match to assess each woman’s worth and would restructure Union’s finances based on that information. He even suggested getting rid of the women’s division entirely. Mio Shirai wondered if Gouma was paranoid because he isn’t in a relationship. Gouma snapped and attacked Shirai to start the match. Shuji Ishikawa almost destroyed Cherry when he attempted to give her the Splash Mountain outside the ring but Shirai came to the rescue. Cherry later hit the Cherryton Bomb and Spring Night Love for a nearfall but Ishikawa hit back with the Fire Thunder Driver. He then hit the Splash Mountain inside the ring for the victory.

Tomoya Kawamura has suffered a right shoulder injury and will miss this show. SAGAT takes his place as Shibata’s opponent. SAGAT’s replacement in the 6-Man Tag will be decided upon soon.

A press conference was held in All Japan’s Yokohama office today to announce Hiroshi Fukuda will be transferring over to the company next month. Fukuda will spend six months in All Japan, starting on 22nd October up until the end of next year’s Champion Carnival. AJPW president Jun Akiyama said that there is a rise in young wrestlers competing now and he approached DDT president Sanshiro Takagi to rent some of them. After studying the DDT and Union roster, Akiyama picked Fukuda because he wants to see if he can live up to his Mr. Perfect nickname. Akiyama also said there is a chance this could lead to more young DDT and Union talent being rented out to All Japan in the future.

Union boss Naomi Susan admits that Fukuda’s absence will be a big blow to the promotion but the experience he will get during his stay in All Japan will be irreplaceable. Fukuda says that All Japan embodies the sense of traditional and classic American pro wrestling and is treating this move as if he was going on an overseas expedition.

Due to this Fukuda will no longer have any involvement in the DDT Dramatic General Election. Should he somehow get voted into the top 20, his spot on the grand finale will be declined and given to someone else. He will also continue to hold the UWA World Tag Team Titles (with MEN’S Teioh) and Union Non-Certified US Heavyweight Title unless he loses them before he leaves. He hopes to defend them again when he returns to Union.

*Cherry fails in V4. Ladybeard becomes the 3rd Fly To Everywhere Champion!
7. Union MAX Title: Hikaru Sato (c) defeated Hiroshi Fukuda with a Shoulder Lock (23:45).
*V1 for Hikaru Sato.

It was Pancrase Vs “USA!” in the main event of today’s Union show. Hikaru Sato put his Union Max Championship on the line against the patriotic American Hiroshi Fukuda. While on paper the match looked one-sided, Fukuda turned out to be no pushover for the champion. Sato brought out the strikes and submissions but ignored the ref’s call to stop attacking Fukuda in the corner. Seiya Morohashi yelled at Sato to back off and the two kept glancing at each other until Fukuda started fighting back. Fukuda’s American style offence was effective going into the late stages of the match and the champ was in trouble when he was put in the Sharpshooter. Sato turned the tables when he countered a Discus Punch into a Shoulder Lock. Sato locked in the move tightly to the point where the referee stepped in and stopped the match in his favour.

Sato looked out among the Union wrestlers to search for his next challenger. He told them that they cannot just eat meat to become great, they have to eat ther vegetables aswell. Shuji Ishikawa approached Sato and challenged him to a title match. He promised to beat Sato and bring the MAX Title back to Union.

Ladybeard is the new Fly To Everywhere Champion after he defeated Cherry in the semi-main event. Cherry was prepared to embarress the challenger by bringing in an elctric shaver. She low blowed Ladybeard and then tried to shave him by force! Ladybeard had to bite Cherry’s arm in order to escape. Cherry did what she could but could not avoid the Nutcracker finisher. Ladybeard screamed with joy when he won the title and went on to call himself a really cute champion. In a backstage interview Ladybeard said he wants Mio Shirai to be his first challenger.

Ryu Gouma spoke about gambling on the World Cup at the beginning of the show. He rambled on about the typical penalties for illegally gambling and also some loopholes to get away with it. His moral of the story is it’s ok to gamble a little bit if you bet with something like a meal. Later in the show he took part in the Idea Pocket sponsored match against Madoka. Gouma had with him ¥30,000 and tried over and over to bribe Madoka to take a dive. Madoka wanted to take it but the referee kept stopping them. The referee eventually Super Kicked Gouma for his attempted bribary and Madoka then pinned him with a Small Package. After the match Idea Pocket announced that Tsubasa Amami has graduated from Union and this was her final show.

Some challenges were thrown out throughout the show. Daichi Kazato challenged Goro Jr. to a match after the 6-Man Tag. FUMA asked Mitomi Masayuki for another match sometime after he beat him in the opener.
