Order Of Entries: Michael Nakazawa, Shoichi Uchida, Makoto Oishi, Hideki Shiota, MIKAMI, HERO!, Antonio Honda, Seiya Morohashi.
5. Bob Sapp Games – 4th Stage: Gaylon Summers defeated Danshoku Dino with the Navy Slam (11:48).
6. Dick Togo, GENTARO & Yasu Urano defeated Kota Ibushi, Hikaru Sato & Kazuki Hirata when Togo pinned Hirata with the Diving Senton (18:52).
7. King Of DDT – Final: KUDO defeated HARASHIMA with the Diving Double Knee Drop (18:07).

KUDO has won the King Of DDT tournament and will face the KO-D Openweight Champion at the main event of Sumo Hall on 24th July. KUDO and HARASHIMA battled long and hard for 18 minutes in the main event. In the end, it was KUDO who was left standing tall. Now he has the KO-D Openweight Title in his sights. Will Shuji Ishikawa still be champion by the time Sumo Hall comes or will either GENTARO or Takao Soma take his place?

KUDO’s trip to the final involved getting past Kenny Omega. He survived a Power Bomb into the turnbuckle aswell as a Thunder Fire Power Bomb and was able to avoid the Croyt’s Wrath. Omega attempted an Avalanche version of his finisher but KUDO escaped and trapped Kenny’s legs in the ropes, leaving him hanging in the air. KUDO then jumped onto him with a Diving Knee Drop. He drilled Kenny with Buzzsaw Kicks and despite a scare involving the Hadouken and a Backslide Pin, KUDO finally put Omega away with another combo of Buzzsaw Kicks.

HARASHIMA had a brick wall called Shigehiro Irie standing in his way. Irie hoped to beat HARASHIMA like he did Kota Ibushi and tried to end the match quickly with a barrage of Elbow Smashes. The plan didn’t work and HARASHIMA ended Irie’s chance to win the tournament. It took a few High Kicks to keep Irie off his feet but HARASHIMA was able to knock him down and then knock him out with the Somato.

Danshoku Dino was finally defeated by one of Bob Sapp’s Assassins. This time the assassin was Gaylon Summers, the American wrestler who has had a few Union appearances this year. Gaylon won with a modified version of the Choke Slam. This being a Danshoku Dino match, you can pretty much guess the modified move was a Crotch Slam. Dino was very upset after the match. His dream is to fight Bob Sapp but he cannot do it if he loses to Sapp’s assassins. Bob Sapp sent a tweet saying if Dino cannot fight him at Sumo Hall, then Gaylon Summers will take his place. Angry at the news, Dino suddenly kissed Gaylon and gave him the Danshoku Driver.

The winner of the Kyoto Royal Rumble would get to ask Tsurumi Amon for whatever they wanted. When Michael Nakazawa won the match, he asked Amon for a title shot. His request was denied for now and he was given a match for 4th June instead. If he wins, Tsurumi may give Michael what he wants.

The King Of DDT semi-finals set for Kyoto KBS Hall on 29/5 are Kenny Omega Vs KUDO and HARASHIMA Vs Shigehiro Irie. The big upset in the tournament is Irie defeating Kota Ibushi in the main event, knocking him senseless with Elbow Smash after Elbow Smash.

King Of DDT shows are different from the usual DDT events as the card is filled with tournament matches that are mostly played straight with little comedy involved.

Kenny Omega brought along the JAPW Light Heavyweight Title belt and carried it to the ring for his matches. Makoto Oishi tried to counter the Croyt’s Wrath into a Rolling Cradle but Kenny overpowered him and was able to lift him back up and use his finisher to win.

Antonio Honda wore a Rocky style robe to the ring for his match with Seiya Morohashi.

KUDO and Yasu Urano shook hands before their match. The two were on and off tag team partners for years, culminating with a KO-D Tag Team Title run in 2009. The two went their seperate ways when Urano joined the GRANMA unit while KUDO kept to himself. They had the longest match in the First Round with KUDO getting the well earned win.

Hikaru Sato defeated Tomomitsu Matsunaga, getting a little measure of revenge on the Shit Heart ♥ Foundation. Sato and Matsunaga shook hands afterwards but Matsunaga then gave Sato a Back Drop. Takao Soma ran in and the two SHF members attacked Sato with a pair of scissors.

Takao Soma interfered in the next match, helping Super Shit Machine defeat Daisuke Sasaki after a ref bump. The plan almost backfired when Sasaki ducked Soma’s Super Kick, leaving Machine to take the blow. Sasaki rolled over Machine with a La Magistral but the ref was still out cold. Machine avoided the NOW OR NEVER and pushed Sasaki into the ropes. Soma leapt up and smashed a steel can over Sasaki’s head. Machine then hit the Lariat and the ref recovered in time to count the pin.

MIKAMI Vs HARASHIMA almost ended in an instant when MIKAMI countered a Big Boot into a School Boy. MIKAMI also survived the High Kick, Reverse Huracanrana and Somato combo to use another School Boy for a nearfall. MIKAMI even busted out the Suicide Bomb but it wasn’t enough. HARASHIMA got the best of his opponent by sliding out of one last School Boy, drilling MIKAMI with a Buzzsaw Kick and rolling over him with a Jackknife Hold for the pin.

Shigehiro Irie defeated Keisuke Ishii with the Locomotion Back Flip, which is two consecutive Vertical Drop Back Flips done without Irie letting go of Ishii.

Kota Ibushi used the Orange Crush to defeat Michael Nakazawa. Only this version was a direct vertical drop, spiking Nakazawa right on his head for a nasty finish to the match.

When the first round was over, DJ Nira entered the ring and sat down in the centre, telling everyone that he had nothing to do tonight. He was eventually joined by Danshoku Dino, Rion Mizuki and Kazuki Hirata. Since all four had nothing to do they decided to hold their own tournament which Nira named the Queen Of DDT. Takao Soma entered the ring to make it a 5-Way to decide who would win the C Block in the tournament. The A Block and B Block are presumably the two finalists in the King Of DDT. Kazuki Hirata was seconds away from submitting DJ Nira when Soma landed the Diving Guillotine Drop to break the hold. Soma then applied a Cross Armbreaker on Nira and immediatly submitted him.

In the Quarter Finals Kenny Omega defeated Seiya Morohashi, KUDO obliterated Hikaru Sato with his High Kicks, HARASHIMA survived SHF interference to eliminate Super Shit Machine and in the biggest shock of the night, Irie knocked out Ibushi with Elbow Smashes and pinned him for the three count.

KING of DDT 2011

May 5, 2011

With Sumo Hall approaching on the horizon, DDT has turned to its annual KING of DDT tournament to determine who will challenge for the KO-D Openweight Title on 24th July. The bracket is filled with wrestlers who are hungry for the chance to headline DDT’s biggest show of the year. The two previous winners HARASHIMA and Kota Ibushi are favourites to win, but this is by no means a two horse race. Antonio Honda and Hikaru Sato would love to reclaim the title they both held for the briefest of moments, Kenny Omega wants to have his best memory of Sumo Hall not be of that time Naomichi Marufuji dumped him on his head, KUDO and Makoto Oishi have both seen their games improve since the formation of Man’s Club and Michael Nakazawa is willing to “Bring It” just like his role model, The Rock.

The first two rounds will take place on 21st May at Shin-Kiba 1st RING. The Semi-Finals and Final will be held eight days later at Kyoto KBS Hall. Also on that show is Danshoku Dino’s latest battle with Bob Sapp’s Assassins.

*Togo fails in V3. Ishikawa becomes the 36th Champion!

It really did turn out to be a big day for Shuji Ishikawa. He now reigns supreme as the new KO-D Openweight Champion, defeating Dick Togo for the belt. This is Shuji’s third reign as KO-D Champion, twice as Shuji Ishikawa and once when he wrestled under the mask as Koo. Will we see a similar title run as last time when he was able to hold title defences in Union?

Shuji’s first defence was confirmed to be GENTARO, who kept his word that he would cash in his “Anytime And Anywhere” contract to face the winner of Togo Vs Shuji. The match has been set for 19th June at Korakuen Hall.

Takao Soma declared that he wants to be next in line for a KO-D Title shot after GENTARO gets his match.

Keisuke Ishii was the big winner of the Royal Rumble. His prize was a shot at the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Championship. This meant the surprise return of Masa Takanashi! The match between Takanashi and Ishii was set for 19th June but when the two shook hands, Ishii gave him a Small Package and won the title! However, Masa then gave Ishii a Low Blow and Small Packaged him to win the title back!

This time Bob Sapp sent three assassins after Danshoku Dino. Choun-Shiryu led the attack along with two fighters from Hong Kong Pro Wrestling but Dino was too manly beyond their wildest expectations to be defeated.

The always bouncy in a good way Yuzuki Aikawa announced that she will compete at DDT’s Sumo Hall show.
