2. Keisuke Ishii & Soma Takao Vs Antonio Honda & Daisuke Sasaki
3. Sanshiro Takagi & Hikaru Sato Vs Yukio Sakaguchi & Akito
4. KUDO Vs Danshoku Dino
5. Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title – Battle Royal: Masa Takanashi (c) Vs MIKAMI Vs Yasu Urano Vs Michael Nakazawa Vs Tomomitsu Matsunaga Vs Gota Ihashi Vs Kazuki Hirata Vs Guanchulo Vs DJ Nira Vs Hoshitango
6. KO-D Tag Team Titles – 3 Way Match: Isami Kodaka & Yuko Miyamoto (c) Vs Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega Vs Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo
7. KO-D Openweight Title: HARASHIMA (c) Vs Shigehiro Irie

DDT held a press conference at the TEC Offices in Shinjuku to promote HARASHIMA’s next two title defences. First up is the KO-D Openweight Title match versus Shigehiro Irie. The rematch of last year’s Peter Pan main event is something that has been on Irie’s mind for a while. He felt great frustration over losing the title and wants to get rid of that by winning it back. HARASHIMA told Irie that kind of frustration is a good thing because it encourages him to become a stronger human being.

DDT “GALAXY EXPLOSION IN NAGOYA 2014”, 02/02/2014
Nagoya Telepia Hall

1. DDT Extreme Title – Best 2 Out Of 3 Falls: HARASHIMA (c) Vs Keisuke Ishii
*Fall 1: Feet Only Death Match. Fall 2: Cliff Death Match. Fall 3: To Be Determined by Amon Tsurumi.

The press conference continued with the appearance of Keisuke Ishii, who immediately attacked HARASHIMA. Tempers calmed down and the two were able to continue the conference as if nothing happened. HARASHIMA decided the rules for their upcoming DDT Extreme Title match in Nagoya. After wrestling Antonio Honda in a Blindfold Bra Match where he had to rely on just his hands, HARASHIMA now wanted to see what it was like to wrestle with just his feet. So for the match, both men will have their hands tied together and will have to rely on their legs to wrestle. However, Ishii had an idea of his own. He wanted to have a Cliff Death Match where you have to do a move from the ring apron to the floor in order to win. Ishii is a big fan of apron spots. He even has a Top 3 all time favourite apron spots. His Top 3 apron spots are:

3. Akira Taue giving Kenta Kobashi the Dynamic Bomb from the apron to the floor (21st March, 1995).
2. Kenta Kobashi giving Jun Akiyama a Brainbuster from the apron to the floor (10th July, 2004).
1. Mitsuharu Misawa giving Kenta Kobashi the Tiger Suplex from the stage walk to the floor (1st March, 2003).

Amon Tsurumi decided that both rules will be used in a 2 out of 3 Falls match. Fall 1 will be HARASHIMA’s Feet Only Death Match and Fall 2 will use Ishii’s Cliff Death Match rules. The rules for a possible third fall will be created by Tsurumi the day before the show.

mioshirai-4contracts

Mio Shirai had been spending the last week teasing a very important announcement. Rumours going around the Japanese wrestling scene included Mio announcing her retirement, a marriage engagement or even a pregnancy. Instead the big reveal was Mio had signed a contract and will end to her status as a freelancer. However, it turned out that Mio was signing a contract with not one, not two, not even three but four different wrestling companies. Taking a cue from Kota Ibushi, Shirai signed contracts with Pro Wrestling WAVE, Oz Academy, Ice Ribbon and Union.

After wrestling for seven years, Mio felt it was time to form an afilliation with one of the companies she works for. However she couldn’t decide who to choose. Inspired by Ibushi’s dual contract with DDT and New Japan, Shirai was inspired to do the same and wanted to be with the promotions she enjoyed working for most. Union boss Naomi Susan said she was very surprised to hear about Mio’s idea at first but is happy that she chose Union to be one of the companies. Since the Union roster is mostly filled with men, Susan hopes Mio’s signing will begin an expansion of Joshi in Union. Mayumi Ozaki said she was the only person in Oz Academy who knew about Mio’s plans. Ice Ribbon’s Tsukasa Fujimoto is amazed at the idea and thinks it is a boost that comes just in time for Mio to replace Hikaru Shida, who will be leaving the company in March. WAVE’s Mikiko Futagami (formerly known as GAMI) is expecting more merchandise sales to come from this signing and pointed out she might be actually working for 5 or 6 companies if you include her Osaka Joshi shows.

Mio’s first show with Union under the contract will be at Yokohama on 11th February.

1. Saki Akai & Makoto Oishi Vs Yoshiko & Toru Owashi
2. Keisuke Ishii & Soma Takao Vs Antonio Honda & Daisuke Sasaki
3. KUDO Vs Danshoku Dino
4. Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title – Battle Royal: Masa Takanashi (c) Vs X
5. KO-D Tag Team Titles – 3 Way Match: Isami Kodaka & Yuko Miyamoto (c) Vs Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega Vs Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo
6. KO-D Openweight Title: HARASHIMA (c) Vs Shigehiro Irie

Shigehiro Irie gets his rematch with HARASHIMA from last year’s second Sumo Hall main event. This time Irie is the challenger and HARASHIMA is dealing with now just having two title belts instead of three.

DDT rookies Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo achieved a remarkable result yesterday, wrestling Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega to a 30 minute draw. Both teams were rewarded with a KO-D Tag Team Title shot but it will be in a 3 Way Match against the champions. Isami Kodaka & Yuko Miyamoto can prove their dominance of the tag team division even more by beating two teams at once.

3. Miyu Yamashita Vs KANNA

Miyu Yamashita and KANNA have their first proper match together after a year of facing each other in exhibition bouts. KANNA has yet to beat Yamashita.

Chikage Kiba is unable to wrestle because she has a high school exam on the day of the show.

DDT “GALAXY EXPLOSION IN NAGOYA 2014”, 02/02/2014
Nagoya Telepia Hall

1. DDT Extreme Title: HARASHIMA (c) Vs Keisuke Ishii

HARASHIMA’s other title will be defended against Keisuke Ishii. HARASHIMA’s DDT Extreme Title defences have been a wild departure from how he usually wrestles but Ishii seems to be a fairly normal wrestler. Will we get a more traditional stipulation or will HARASHIMA or Ishii show some imagination with their match choice.

UNION “DEMON UNION 2014”, 11/02/2014
Yokohama Radiant Hall

1. Shuji Ishikawa Vs Richard Burn

Union returns to the Pro Wrestling Vs Martial Arts match up that built the company when it was brought back to life in 2005. But I do not expect Shuji Ishikawa and Richard Burn to have such a heated feud that they will eventually fight in a ring filled with scorpions.

Yoshiko from Stardom stops by to be the latest opponent for Saki Akai and hopefully say hi to Kota Ibushi.

7. KO-D Openweight Title & Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title: HARASHIMA (c) defeated Yukio Sakaguchi (c) with the Somato (16:34).
*V4 for HARASHIMA. HARASHIMA becomes the 978th Iron Man Champion.

harashima-sakaguchi-kod

After a brief detour, HARASHIMA is once again a DDT Triple Crown Champion! He defeated the person I believed had the best chance of winning the KO-D Openweight Title from him and in the process won back the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title. On paper, HARASHIMA Vs Yukio Sakaguchi looked to be as hard hitting as they come. Plenty of kicks and knee strikes were on offer along with some Triangle Chokes and Sleeper Holds, the move Sakaguchi used to beat HARASHIMA the last time they were in the ring together. This time HARASHIMA was able to escape the hold and strike back with the ever reliable Somato. Sakaguchi kicked out but HARASHIMA quickly replied with another Somato to put him down for good. The champion told Sakaguchi they just had a thrilling match and it was so fun for him. “Thanks a bunch!” They hugged and shook hands afterwards.

6man-homosapiens

Danshoku Dino and Makoto Oishi have finally gotten their KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles back, this time with Aja Kong along for the ride. Kong was more than suitable for the job, matching strength for strength with Toru Owashi in an impromptu sumo bout. She was about to do the same with Akebono until Danshoku Dino got involved and chased after the AJPW Triple Crown champion. Dino eventually got what he wanted, delivering a big old Lip Lock to Akebono. Kong did the same to Sanshiro Takagi, stunning him enough for Dino to deliver the Danshoku Driver and win the titles. Dino called his new team the Homo-sapiens. Kong thought she didn’t have to team with them anymore but decided to stay.

takeshita-endo

Tetsuya Endo ends the year on a low note by losing to his fellow generational opponent Konosuke Takeshita in one of three highlighted singles matches held throughout the show. Endo cried out how useless he was, it’s no good if he doesn’t win and it’s no good if he’s not strong. He is upset he lost to a high school student and swore he will beat Takeshita someday. Takeshita recognised the judges who voted him the Tokyo Sports Rookie of the Year and said “It was not wrong to choose Takeshita.”

ibushi-nira

DJ Nira tried to trick Kota Ibushi before their match by sending out Gota Ihashi in his place. And in his clothes. Nira then launched the ambush, yelling “Take that, a present from me!” Ibushi simply moved out of the way and then proceeded to dominate the match. Nira had some glimpses of a comeback but at the end quickly submitted to a Front Necklock.

akai-kudo-urano

Saki Akai came out dressed as a sexy Santa and her partners KUDO and Yasu Urano were her reindeer. GAMI took her temporary role in the Monster Army seriously and was there to toughen up Akai. She and Antonio Honda were in tune with each other, both giving out Bionic Elbows to KUDO and Urano. But in a Christmas miracle, Akai leapt onto both of them from the tope rope. Urano cut off Daisuke Sasaki and gave him a Frankensteiner, leaving him right on target for KUDO’s Diving Double Knee Drop for the three count. Akai thanked KUDO and Urano in a backstage interview for supporting her because she still feels nervous in the ring. Her goal for next year is to win the Iron Man Championship.

sato-nakazawa-venomarm

Hikaru Sato found the perfect piece of clothing to battle Michael Nakazawa and the pair of shorts he uses to fuel the Ultimate Venom Arm. Sato brought out a school swimsuit and used it to do his own Ultimate Venom Arm to pin Nakazawa. After the match Nakazawa asked Sato to team with him again as they would be invincible with their shorts and swimsuits. Sato ignored him.

irie-akito

Team Dream Futures reflected over their performance throughout 2013. Shigehiro Irie became KO-D Champion and recorded more defences in a single title reign than anyone else in the belt’s history. Keisuke Ishii charged into All Japan to sort out an old grudge with the promotion he has held ever since he trained in their dojo. He now hopes to play a central role in “cheerful wrestling” for DDT. Soma Takao meanwhile was obsessed with talking about the colour red.

kasai-hirata

Kazuki Hirata ran through a gauntlet of wrestlers in a pre-show trial to prove he is not a “boring shit” wrestler. He had a bad start losing to Tomomitsu Matsunaga but bounced back by beating Gota Ihashi. Guanchulo stopped him from winning two in a row yet Hirata avoided two straight defeats by pinning Choun-Shiryu. His last opponent was a big surprise, the “Crazy Monkey” Jun Kasai! Even worse, he was armed with a barbed wire baseball bat which he used to great effect. Hirata ended the series with a losing record of two victories and three defeats. Afterwards Kasai said he was supposed to be spending quality time with his family for the holidays before DDT contacted him to appear. He told Hirata that Takagi was just treating him like a toy and he himself had just beaten him up for fun. He wished him luck to become better and hoped to fight him again in DDT when he improves.

A Homoiro Clover Z Vs Up Up Girls challenge is set for 19th February in Shinjuku FACE. The aim of the event is to show both the beauty of wrestling and the beauty of idols.

*V3 for HARASHIMA’s KO-D Title. V1 for HARASHIMA’s Iron Man Title. Antonio Honda fails in V2. HARASHIMA becomes the 24th DDT Extreme Champion!

HARASHIMA continues to dominate in DDT and now finds himself as a Triple Crown Champion! He defeated Antonio Honda in a triple title match. HARASHIMA defended his KO-D Openweight and Iron Man Heavymetalweight Titles while Honda put his DDT Extreme Title on the line. It was a chance for Honda to bring out his best for the championship just like he did against GENTARO and Dick Togo over two years ago. But HARASHIMA proved too strong and was the last man standing. After the match HARASHIMA told Honda he is amazing and thanked him for a fun match. Amon Tsurumi approached the champion and asked him who he wanted to face in Korakuen Hall on 17th November for a KO-D Title match. However, HARASHIMA instead wanted to defend the DDT Extreme Title and he wanted to defend it against Honda! The two shook hands to confirm the rematch.

Akebono may be the new AJPW Triple Crown Champion, but he had more pressing matters to deal with today in DDT. That’s right, he had to defend the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles! He, Sanshiro Takagi & Toru Owashi were able to beat Team Dream Futures to mark their second defence of the titles. Takagi said Team Drift were strong but were also stunk as opponents. Danshoku Dino & Makoto Oishi showed up afterwards to challenge the champions and Akebono was not happy to see Dino. Since Akebono will be busy in All Japan, Takagi arranged a Six-Man Tag Team match between himself, Owashi & Kazuki Hirata against Dino, Oishi & their currently unknown partner to determine if they will be No. 1 Contenders. Dino told Akebono he is looking forward to facing him. Akebono then told Takagi to “Please win!”

The Golden Lovers have become the No. 1 Contenders for the KO-D Tag Team Titles after winning the 3-Way Tag match. They will face Yuko Miyamoto and the new BJW Death Match Champion, Isami Kodaka at the 17/11 Korakuen show.

Saki Akai told Mio Shirai after their tag match that she does not play around. She told the crowd that she was really happy to wrestle here because she was born in Osaka and her father competed and even retired in this building. She promised to be stronger when she returns. She also thanked Yukio Sakaguchi for encouraging her and wants to team with him again.

Popularity power can only take you so far. Danshoku Dino earned his place in the main event by winning the 2013 DDT48 General Election. He put his Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title on the line against HARASHIMA, with his KO-D Openweight Title up for grabs as well. Dino dug deep but was not strong enough to dethrone the champion. However, he kept fighting until he could not do so anymore. HARASHIMA got near falls with the Somato. Dino got one last chance shot with the Gay-do Clutch but HARASHIMA kicked out and followed up with a Running Knee Lift. Dino collapsed and the referee called for the match to end in HARASHIMA’s favour. Dino was dejected after the match and hid his head under his hands sadly reminding himself that he won the DDT48 Election.

The dreaded Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament made a surprise return after the main event. The 18-person tournament was done to determine the No. 1 contender for the KO-D Title. Antonio Honda was the last man standing and he will face HARASHIMA for the KO-D Title in Osaka on 2th November. Sanshiro Takagi appeared to officiate the semi finals but couldn’t do the final due to muscle tension. Luckily Ryota Yamasato, the Nankai Candies member who was involved with DDT’s Sumo Hall shows this year was in the audience and stepped in to judge the final.

Some bad blood between Kota Ibushi and Hikaru Sato was rekindled after the semi-main event. The two brawled with each other even though the match was over. The match itself spilled out of the ring and into the crowd, highlighted by Ibushi Moonsaulting onto Sato from one of the spectator entrances.

Hiroshi Fukuda defeated Konosuke Takeshita with a little help from his tambourine. Afterwards he happily thanked everyone and Takeshita for the match, then told Takeshita that there is no need for two people in the entertainment industry to be nicknamed “The Future”. He will now take the name solely for himself. Takeshita shut him up with a Dropkick but Fukuda was still able to have the last word. “Perfect…”

There was a problem with the DDT Extreme Title match. Antonio Honda and Super Sasadango Machine both arrived to the building feeling incredibly tired. When the time came for the champion Honda to decide what the rules of the match should be, both he and Sasadango fell asleep in the ring. When it became time for the match to begin Amon Tsurumi made the decision himself and made it a Sleep Prevention Death Match where the goal is to make your opponent fall asleep for three seconds. A futon was placed in the ring and the lights dimmed as the match began. Sasadango gave Honda a Suplex onto the futon for a “two count”. Honda then put Sasadango in a Sleeper Hold for another “two count”. An energy drink was brought into the ring only for the spokesperson to Lariat both wrestlers and Hulk out afterwards. Honda got to the energy drink first and then knocked off Sasadango’s mask with a Diving Fist Drop, revealing him to be Muscle Sakai. Sakai recovered and hit Honda with a Missile Dropkick. He did one more but landed on top of the futon where he fell asleep. Honda gently pulled the duvet over Sakai for the “three count” and successfully defended his DDT Extreme Title. After the match Honda thanked the fans for coming to see the show or for watching it on Samurai! TV and said the match felt like he was in a dream.

After Super Sasadango Machine woke up, Saki Akai appeared and said she will team up with Yukio Sakaguchi for a mixed gender tag match in Osaka on 11th November. Amon Tsurumi titled their match the Eagles II Rocky Of Naniwa II Tag.

Isami Kodaka, Makoto Oishi and Yasu Urano together yelled “We are KAIENTAI DOJO!” before their match with the Team Dream Futures. The three wrestlers all began their careers in K-DOJO before eventually finding their way to DDT and Union.

Tetsuya Endo announced he will return to action on 27th October after recovering from a dislocated shoulder.

Tokyo Women’s Wrestling announced a new trainee, Ayumi Takada. She will debut on their first proper show in Kitizawa on 1/12.

The dark match had everyone involved break into song midway through the contest.

The entire reason the DDT48 General Election exists finally pays off with this show on Sunday. Everyone on the card was voted in by the results of the election.

The main event is now a double title match. Danshoku Dino won the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title from KUDO in Sapporo last week. He promises to defeat HARASHIMA so he can hold both the KO-D Openweight Title and Iron Man Title at the same time. The last time both titles were defended in the same match was Kota Ibushi Vs Yoshihiko in 2009, one week shy of it being exactly four years ago. Ibushi won that match but Yoshihiko won back the Iron Man Title almost immediately afterwards. So yeah, don’t be surprised if something like that happens again.

The stipulations for the DDT Extreme Title match between Antonio Honda and the instantly popular Super Sasadango Machine will be announced during the show.

7. KO-D Openweight Title: HARASHIMA (c) defeated Yasu Urano with the Somato (21:18).
*V1 for HARASHIMA.

It was an emotional main event between two friends over the KO-D Openweight Title. But Yasu Urano was determined to do anything to win the title from HARASHIMA, even if it meant targeting the champ’s injured leg. However, HARASHIMA stayed strong and was able to defeat Urano to record the first defence of his latest title reign. Urano admitted feeling ashamed for going after HARASHIMA’s injury but he was forgiven. Next for HARASHIMA is the winner of the DDT48 General Election.

Shigehiro Irie has added the Package Piledriver to his arsenal. That move might come in handy when he and Keisuke Ishii travel over to All Japan in the coming weeks.

The KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Title being defended under Falls Count Anywhere rules guaranteed a crazy match. Sanshiro Takagi, Toru Owashi & Akebono were able to defeat the Golden Rendezvous in a match that went all over Korakuen Hall. Afterwards, Takagi asked Akebono if he could return on 4th November in Osaka Bodymaker Colosseum for the next title defence. Akebono said he would be there and he thanked the fans for their support. In a backstage interview Takagi bragged that his team is unbeatable. He also told Akebono they should go to a tiny place where a grand sumo champion has never fought before, like Chiba.

KUDO was absolutely dominant in the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title Battle Royal. He even survived an ambush by Gorgeous Matsuno & Guanchulo after winning the title.

Yankii Ni Cho Kenju bragged about winning their first of 100 planned defences of the KO-D Tag Team Title. Keisuke Ishii took the defeat in his stride and swore he will bring the All Asia Tag Team Titles to DDT!

Grogeous Matsuno was impressed with Guanchulo after their time limit draw. He requested to team with him sometime in the future.

Saki Akai will return to wrestle her second ever match at the 4th November Osaka show.

Sanshiro Takagi announced that he wants DDT to perform at the Saitama Super Arena. He said it will be possible because they were able to do shows at Sumo Hall and Budokan Hall.

Union will soon become a separate company from DDT. The spin-off has been financed by DDT ever since its rebirth in 2005. It will now be its own independent company but will continue its relationship with DDT. Union will also debut a new rookie at the 23rd October Korakuen Hall show. The name I get from translation is Suru Kawamura but that will be corrected as soon as I get the proper name.

Tokyo Women’s Wrestling will hold its first official show in Kitizawa Town Hall on 1st December. It will be the second half of a doubleshot with DDT held that day.
