*V1 for Jun Kasai.

Bowls of Chinese food were placed in the corner for the Yokohama Chinatown TLC Match. The goal of the match was to either beat your opponent as normal or eat three bowls of Chinese food. Makoto Oishi offered a handshake before the match but Jun Kasai flipped him the middle finger. However he agreed to sit down and eat a bowl of noodles with Oishi before fighting. When they finished they began throwing punches. Oishi reached for a second bowl but Kasai stopped him by hitting him with a lady’s handbag at ringside. Oishi fought back with a chair until Kasai was too beat up to prevent him from finishing the second bowl. Oishi then used a ladder to target Kasai’s legs. He put Kasai in a Figure Four Leg Lock and tried to eat the third bowl at the same time. Kasai fought his way out and hit a Lariat followed by the Reverse Tiger Driver. Oishi kicked out of that and also kicked out of the Pearl Harbour Splash from the ladder! Kasai did one more Reverse Tiger Driver, the Vertical Drop kind and that was it for Oishi. Kasai called out for his next challenger. Doesn’t matter if it is a foreigner, a woman, a child or an animal. Out came Akito, he’s not afraid of Kasai. He asked the champion what his favourite match rules are. Kasai said Death Match. Akito suggested a Lighttube Death Match, but only one Lighttube. Whoever breaks it with their opponent wins. Kasai accepted and the match will take place on 3rd January.

Konosuke Takeshita describes Mad Paulie as somebody who has no feelings or even a human heart. However he noticed a glimpse of humanity coming from him during today’s match. Paulie cares about winning and losing if nothing else. Takeshita’s preparations for their Christmas Day singles match is to eat snacks instead of turkey.

HARASHIMA and Shigehiro Irie had to be pulled apart after Match #5.

DDT announced a return date to Nagano for 23rd April next year. As the sales manager for that region, Toru Owashi is in charge of running the show

Gouma Ryu was again in attendance to promote BASARA’s Christmas Day show at Korakuen Hall. However he forgot to bring tickets to sell at the merch table so he handed out business cards instead.

octopus-harashima-ishikawa

HARASHIMA is now a 9-time KO-D Openweight Champion! If he was feeling intimidated by the challenge to topple Shuji Ishikawa off his throne, he didn’t show it. Instead he made every kick and Knee Strike count, wearing down the champion. Ishikawa did hit the Splash Mountain but HARASHIMA kicked out of that. Eventually the kicks were all too much for Ishikawa to bear and HARASHIMA ended the match with the Swan Dive Somato. HARASHIMA credited the crowd’s support for helping him win back the title. He enjoyed fighting Shuji with all of his effort and wants to do it again and again. GM Amon Tsurumi asked if HARASHIMA wanted a particular wrestler to face him in a title match at Korakuen Hall on Christmas Day. HARASHIMA thought about it and nominated Shigehiro Irie because he was pinned by Irie in a tag match back last month. Irie says he will return to America in 2017. His first trip was done to make him stronger. Now his goal is to win the KO-D Title and bring it with him to the USA!

octopus-kod-tag

DAMANTION had a bad night overall. Not only did Ishikawa lose the KO-D Title but Daisuke Sasaki & Tetsuya Endo lost the KO-D Tag Team Titles too. Not only that but they lost it to their bitter rivals Happy Motels. Sasaki again did his Low Blow to Sasaki Hurricanrana combo that’s been so effective this year but this time Konosuke Takeshita kicked out. Meanwhile Mike Bailey was focused on getting revenge against the champions which ended with him intercepting Endo’s Springboard Dropkick with a Springboard Dropkick of his own. He then flattened Endo outside the ring with a Shooting Star Press. With a clear target on Sasaki, Takeshita threw him over with the Geman Suplex and got the three count to win the tag titles. This is Takeshita’s third time holding the tag title while Bailey gets his first championship in DDT.

octopus-extreme

The DDT Extreme Title was put on the line in a straight up Hardcore Match. Danshoku Dino had to be violent against Jun Kasai and did so by putting him through a table with the Danshoku Driver. Kasai fought back by grabbing a bundle of bamboo skewers and shoving them in Dino where there sun doesn’t shine. That plan came back to haunt Kasai when Dino grabbed the skewers and shoved them into Kasai’s mouth. He then dug them into the top of Kasai’s head and gave him another Danshoku Driver but Kasai kicked out! Kasai dug the skewers into Dino’s head and hit the Reverse Tiger Driver but Dino kicked out of that too! Finally Kasai pulled his tights down and gave Dino a Danshoku version of the Reverse Tiger Driver. This time it did the job and Kasai became the new Extreme Champion! Kasai said before the match Dino told him how handsome he was and his love for him was true. Kasai’s response is he’s not gay but thanks for the match. Dino gave him the middle finger, said he loves him and returned to the locker room. Kasai said now he is the champion he will dye the belt with colour. As he left the ring he went over to the commentary table and gave Yoshihiro Takayama a deep kiss, making him faint into his chair.

To commemorate DDT’s upcoming 20th Anniversary a special TLC Match took place between Sanshiro Takagi, Kota Ibushi & Gota Ihashi against Dick Togo, Antonio Honda & former DDT turned FREEDOMS wrestler Takashi Sasaki. The “T” in this match stood for Takoyaki which was being cooked by Nobuhiro Shimatani at ringside. Togo immediately slumped into the corner when the match began. He apologised but his heart wasn’t in it. He could only gain the spirit to wrestle if Honda told the tale of “Gon, The Little Fox”. This was all just a ruse for Togo’s team to attack when their opponents dropped their guard. Togo grabbed Takagi’s bicycle and spun the rear tyre against Ihashi’s head. Ibushi intercepted the bicycle but Togo cut him off by spraying him with a fire extinguisher. Togo and Ihashi both climbed a ladder and Togo knocked him off it by feeding him piping hot Takoyaki. He then put Ihashi in the Crippler Crossface while Honda fed Ihashi more Takoyaki. Special guest Hyota Echizenya made an appearance wearing a Kotatsu table over his back. Takagi put the Kotatsu over himself and tried to splash Sasaki through another table but missed. Outside the ring another table was set up to act as a ramp for Ibushi to cycle jump into Togo. However Togo moved and Ibushi crashed into Ihashi instead. Back in the ring Takagi used the Kotatsu as a shield to block chairshots. He then lied down and ordered Ibushi to give Honda the Last Ride onto the Kotatsu above him. After the match Togo shook Takagi’s hand but then gave him the Pedigree, all while Takagi was still wearing the Kotatsu table.

octopus-sakaguchi-higuchi

Yukio Sakaguchi rebounded from his TKO defeat to Yoshihiro Takayama last month with a victory here. With Masakatsu Funaki holding back Takayama, Sakaguchi was able to pin Kazusada Higuchi with the Right Knee Of God. Funaki said backstage that he has teamed with various wrestlers but did not get along with many of them. He gets along with Sakaguchi though and both of them are interested in winning championships.

octopus-yuni

The 3rd grade student Yuni made his debut, probably being the youngest person to ever wrestle in Osaka Edion Arena. The 8 year old’s big spots in the match were a Moonsault and also an elevated Dropkick using Irie and Yasu Urano as steps to get the height necessary to hit the target. Urano thought Yuni’s performance was amazing and gave him a score of 100 points. Yuni’s goal is to win the KO-D Title before he turns 10 years old.

octopus-porkbun

Ever since the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title came back to DDT the champion has had sleepless nights. Whoever holds the belt becomes so paranoid that they lose sleep. Toru Owashi entered the building as the champion but he was so tired from fighting off ambushes that he needed rest. He ate a Pork Bun he found on a bed backstage but then fell asleep with the Pork Bun on top of him. 1…2…3! The Pork Bun was now champion. It was brought down to the ring for the Battle Royal and somehow outwrestled Kazuki Hirata. Everything was going great until Mad Paulie entered and ate the Pork Bun to win the title. He knocked Dai Suzuki around the ring until everyone piled on top them. Paulie was pinned and Suzuki was declared the champion. When Owashi woke up and entered the hall he stopped Suzuki from fleeing and trapped him in the Paradise Lock on the entrance ramp where Suzuki stayed for the rest of the match. It took the combined powers of Kuishinbo Kamen and Kikutaro to send Owashi back to sleep. The match came down to them and although Kamen won the title, Kikutaro crotched him on the ropes after the match and used the 24/7 rule to escape with the belt. However at the end of the show Kikutaro found the Kotatsu used in the TLC match and used it to take a nap. 1…2…3! The Kotatsu became the champion. Hyota Echizenya walked in and tried to pick up the table. 1…2…3! Echizenya is now the champion!

octopus-kong-akai

Aja Kong & LiLiCo were too strong for the Kawaii Connection to handle. They cut off Saki Akai from Lady Beard and Kong dominated her up until the finish. LiLiCo even did her own version of the Spinning Backfist. In the post-match interview Kong reiterated that DDT was wrong to use LiLiCo like a toy by parading her around for some dating nonsense. Maybe as punishment they should go after the KO-D Tag Team Titles!

octopus-yoshimura

The show kicked off proper with the debut of Naomi Yoshimura, the latest rookie to wrestle for DNA. He got to show off his power by repeatedly Body Slamming Yuki Ueno then hitting a big Power Slam. His finishing move was a release Power Bomb. KUDO notes that it is a new era for DDT and it’s his job now not to lose to the new blood. Yoshimura says he wants to fight Higuchi because he is the strongest in DNA however he also wants to be on his side until he is ready to fight him. Also Yoshimura looks up to Zeus and Yuji Hino as wrestlers of inspiration.

octopus-dark

Nobuhiro Shimatani continues his downward spiral to the bottom of DDT when he was defeated in the dark match. The current King Of Dark Champion hit a couple of Standing Shooting Stars in a row to Kouki Iwasaki but eventually fell to the usual rookie killer move, the Crab Hold.

octopus-sasadango

Super Sasadango Machine hopes to return to the ring in time for DDT’s 20th Anniversary show in Saitama Super Arena on 20th March. He received a message of support from Yoshihiro Takayama on Facebook which has given him encouragement.

More information for DDT Universe has become known. The video on demand service launches on 23rd January, 2017 and the first live broadcast will be “SWEET DREAMS! 2017” on 29th January. The monthly price is 900 yen a month but the first month of the subscription will be free.

3a. Yoshiko eliminated Toro Owashi when Yoshiko stripped off Owashi’s bra (12:53).
3b. Yoshiko eliminated Daisuke Sasaki and Antonio Honda when Yoshiko stripped off both Sasaki and Honda’s bras at the same time (17:32).
4. Hardcore 6-Man Tag Team Match: Shuji Ishikawa, Mad Paulie & Tetsuya Endo defeated Masashi Takeda, Kazusada Higuchi & Choun-Shiryu when Endo pinned Shiryu with the Sky Twister Press (20:12).

Daisuke Sasaki wasted no time when it came to getting drinks during the DAMNATION part of Beer Garden week. It seemed that he had a cup of beer with him every time he appeared in the ring. But there was no time for nonsense in the main event. DAMNATION wasn’t taking things easy because they put themselves in a 6-Man Hardcore Tag Team Match. Their opponents Masashi Takeda, Kazusada Higuchi & Choun-Shiryu brought out a ladder, a table and a wok to use as weapons. DAMNATION were armed with bamboo swords. Tetsuya Endo hit a No Touch Tope that led to a brawl around ringside. Shiryu responded by climbing the ladder and delivering a Flying Kung Fu Kick to Endo. Takeda then Body Slammed Endo onto the ladder back in the ring. Further damage was given to Endo after a Diving Senton from Takeda and a Diving Single Foot Stomp from Shiryu off the ladder. However Endo survived the onslaught and put down Shiryu with the Torture Rack Bomb. The Sky Twister Press afterwards won the match for DAMNATION. Endo told everyone that Takeda’s birthday was tomorrow so he wished him a happy birthday. Takeda thanked him and said the match was so much fun. Sasaki then went on a rant saying he is sick of all the marriage proposals that are happening in Beer Garden this year. They don’t care about marriage, they’re too busy making he entire world revolve around DAMNATION!

One person in the Blindfold Bra match had an advantage over everyone else. Yoshiko was the only wrestler wearing their bra underneath their wrestling gear. Her three male opponents normally wrestle topless so their bras were all vulnerable from being stripped. It took around fifteen minutes but Yoshiko was able to strip the bras off all of her opponents to win. Antonio Honda thought he had his hand on her but it was actually Daisuke Kiso. When he pulled off Kiso’s shirt it was revealed Kiso was wearing a bra underneath.

Shuji Ishikawa has to lose some water weight for his KO-D Openweight Title Match in Sumo Hall. So he was put in a match made specifically to make him sweat. His opponent Nobuhiro Shimatani came up with a secret plan to help him sweat. He bribed Mad Paulie with a frankfurter and also Daisuke Kiso with a baseball card of Takahiro Arai from the Hiroshima Toyo Carp to be on his side. Together they were able to put force a heavy jacket onto Ishikawa to make him sweat. Paulie also found a blanket and woolly hat to put on Ishikawa. Gota Ihashi then found a bottle of lotion and poured it over Ishikawa to heat him up even more. Unfortunately that made the ring canvas too slippery to stand on and the match had to be called off.

Sasaki and Masahiro Takanashi fought in a rounds match where both of them had to drink a cup of beer after every round. Each round was only 30 seconds long. In the little time they had between drinking they did try to wrestle but in the end the round limit was reached and a draw was called. Both Sasaki and Takanashi cried and went to hug each other. Sasaki then Low Blowed Takanashi. Takanashi Low Blowed Sasaki in return.

*DAMNATION becomes the 26th KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions!

After over two months of inactivity we now have new KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions! The finals of the tournament took place in Saitama and in the end DAMNATION tore through NωA and Shuten-dōji to claim the belts. Daisuke Sasaki said DAMNATION will continue to overwhelm DDT when Shuji Ishikawa wins the KO-D Openweight Title at Sumo Hall.

The 4 Way Match presented a unique preview of the “PETER PAN 2016” main event. Ishikawa will definitely be facing the KO-D Champion but the champion could be Toru Owashi instead of Konosuke Takeshita. Kazusada Higuchi was also there as a potential wild card. Takeshita looked to have the match won when he weakened Owashi with a Lariat and Blue Thunder Bomb but Owashi caught him by surprise with an Inside Cradle and pinned the champion out of nowhere. Owashi told Takeshita that two days from now the fun will be over when they fight for the KO-D Title.

With Antonio Honda translating for him, Mike Bailey told the audience he isn’t satisfied with his tour yet because he has a lot more to do in Japan. Today’s DDT debut is only the beginning of Mike Bailey. He is anxious to team with Dick Togo at Sumo Hall because to him, Togo is the most successful wrestler in the world.

This months Infomercial Match was sponsored by the book store Shosen. The match would consist of five rounds between the two teams with different rules to represent the different shop floors found in Shosen stores. Round 1 was one count pinfalls. Danshoku Dino immediately pinned Kazuki Hirata. Round 2 was two count pinfalls. Saki Akai tied the score when she pinned Super Sasadango Machine. From there Akai’s team won the remaining rounds. Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi submitted Gota Ihashi in Round 3 where submissions were needed to win. Akai kicked Ihashi out of the ring in Round 4 with Over The Top Rope rules. Finally Round 5 was just a normal match and Akai pinned Dino to end the series 4-1 in favour of her team.

KENSO had to fight Sanshiro Takagi in a 5 minute Iron Man Match to earn a spot on the “PETER PAN 2016” card. The match ended 1-1 but regardless of the outcome KENSO’s fate was left in the hands of three judges: DDT staff member Hisaya Imabayashi, Shukan Puroresu’s DDT correspondent Asata Kato and legendary wrestler Mitsuo Momota. The judges’ scorecards were 30-27, 28-30 and 30-2 resulting in a 2-1 victory for Takagi. KENSO complained about the 30-2 score from Momota. Momota straight up told KENSO he doesn’t want to see him wrestle in Sumo Hall! KENSO said he loves the DDT fans and wanted nothing more than to be at “PETER PAN 2016”. Takagi had a change of heart and told KENSO he can wrestle at Sumo Hall. He then told him about the upcoming DDT Dramatic General Election. It is mentally exhausting to campaign for votes but it will prove once and for all what the DDT fans think of KENSO. KENSO said he has experience with elections because he helped his wife Hiroko Suzuki campaign for her seat in the Funabashi City Council. He agreed to enter and is determined to finish first.

Chikara appeared at the start of the show to announce his participation for “PETER PAN 2016”. He is honoured to wrestle in the same building his father Mitsuo Momota wrestled in many times throughout his career. It was decided that while he was here in Kasukabe Hall he will wrestle in an impromptu match. Yumehito Imanari came out complaining that DDT yet again forgot to organise a King Of Dark Title match in advance. Chikara offered his Power Of Dreams friend to be his opponent. Amon Tsurumi excitedly agreed with the idea and made the match there and then. Chikara did his many Chops but Imanari scored the win with a Samson Clutch, meaning Chikara is now the King Of Dark Champion! Chikara was told he will have to fight in the Sumo Hall dark match unless he wins a DDT dark match before then. He’ll have one chance to get rid of the title at the first show of Beer Garden week.

Tetsuya Endo & Mao Inoue are both from Miyagi so they teamed together for their homecoming. Although they weren’t able to win their match, HARASHIMA said their strengths are reliable. He also revealed his grandmother’s house was in Ishinomaki so he himself can be a Miyagi local.

Yukio Sakaguchi had Daisuke Sasaki’s new pet beaten until Sasaki got involved. Sakaguchi hit Mad Polly with the Right Knee Of God and went for the pin but Sasaki Dropkicked Daisuke Kiso to cause a disqualification. Sasaki then tried to give Kiso the Vietnam Driver II but Sakaguchi kicked him into the corner. Sasaki was saved from the Right Knee Of God when Polly pulled him out of the ring.

Makoto Oishi wanted a referee who would keep a strict control over the opening match and not fall for Kazuki Hirata’s dancing antics. He brought out Kyohei Wada to officiate the match. At first it looked like the plan worked. Wada resisted any urge to dance whenever Hirata summoned his music. But at some point the Hirata GO! glasses were knocked onto Wada’s face and he was soon dancing! Hirata joined in but Oishi rolled him over with a School Boy and Wada quick counted the pin.

4. Shunma Katsumata & Kouki Iwasaki defeated Kazusada Higuchi & Mao Inoue when Iwasaki pinned Inoue with the Leg Capture Suplex (14:32).
5. HARASHIMA, Akito & Yasu Urano defeated Antonio Honda, Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo when Urano pinned Honda with the Tombstone Piledriver (16:58).
6. Daisuke Sasaki & Mad Polly defeated Yukio Sakaguchi & Masa Takanashi when Polly pinned Takanashi with the Reverse Splash (11:48).

Daisuke Sasaki introduced everyone to his brand new pet and it is big and mean. His name is Mad Polly, he is 180cm tall and weighs 140kg. With Demolition style facepaint and a costume that reminds me of Bam Bam Bigelow, Polly was ordered to go after Yukio Sakaguchi. Polly withstood Sakaguchi’s kicks and threw him over with a German Suplex. Masa Takanashi tried to help Sakaguchi in taking down the newcomer but they were both taken down with a Lariat. Polly Choke Slammed Takanashi and then pinned him with a Vader style Reverse Splash. Sasaki added insult to injury by giving Sakaguchi the Vietnam Driver II. Sasaki then introduced his “cute” new pet to the crowd and called himself the charismatic double champion.

The semi-main event was vital for both teams to win. Both Smile Squash and Happy Motels were involved in bid defeats to Daisuke Sasaki at “MAX BUMP 2016”. HARASHIMA lost his KO-D Openweight Title to Sasaki and the New Gen Combo failed to regain the KO-D Tag Team Titles from Sasaki & Shuji Ishikawa. Also Akito & Yasu Urano came out of the show as the next challengers for the tag titles. Antonio Honda gave a long speech to his teammates about training their soul, using dumbbells and producing tremendous nose hair in the process. The motivating talk didn’t work and Smile Squash came out of the match as the winners. Honda took the blame for the loss.

Ken Ohka eagerly wished Team Drift the best of luck in their futures. Each of the Drift wrestlers were a little put off by Ohka excitedly shaking their hands after the match. But it also gave them enough encouragement to challenge Team DNA to a KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Title match on the 15th May Nagoya show. They want to win the titles and disband as champions. Kouki Iwasaki accepted the challenge because he wants DNA to beat the best teams in DDT even if they are about to split up.

Both Tomomitsu Matsunaga and Makoto Oishi are on the hunt for a Right To Challenge Contract. They both had an opportunity to win one from Toru Owashi. Owashi’s contract arm band was ripped off and thrown over to Amon Tsurumi. Both Matsunaga and Oishi chased after Tsurumi but got a Double Lariat for their troubles. Later in the match Owashi capitalised on his opponents’ infighting by pinning both of them at the same time.

Hiroshi Fukuda tricked Kazuki Hirata into dancing when he sang “You Are More Beautiful Than Roses” into the microphone. He then rolled over Hirata into a Crab Hold during the dance. After that match KENSO confronted Sanshiro Takagi again about joining DDT full time. He said would have attended “MAX BUMP 2016” last week but his wife Hiroko Suzuki had a Funabashi City Council meeting that day. KENSO then brought up the King Of DDT tournament and requested entry into the tournament. Takagi refused but Amon Tsurumi offered KENSO an opportunity. KENSO will have a match in Nagoya on 15th May to determine if he deserves to enter King Of DDT.

DDT will be heading to Nagano in June and the management think it could be the start of something good. They decided to set up a sales manager position for the Nagano region. Toru Owashi volunteered to take the position. He was given 30,000 yen for operating expenses and is tasked in making the first Nagano show a success.
