Cherry’s major announcement is she will move her blog from Livedoor to Ameba. Mio Shirai came out and told Cherry that everyone in attendance thought she was finally going to reveal her real age. Nothing else about Cherry matters, according to Mio. She challenged Cherry to a match for the 18/3 Union show. If Cherry loses the match she will have to admit her real age, one of the best kept secrets in wrestling today.

Sexxxy Eddy tried his moves on Mio Shirai with little success during their match. He asked her for a kiss because it was almost Valentine’s Day. Mio asked Eddy to close his eyes. When he did, Mio grabbed the referee and forced him to kiss Eddy. Mio used the distraction to give Eddy a School Boy for a near fall. Mio gave Eddy a Low Blow and tried to do the Figure Four Neck Lock but Eddy escaped, gave Mio a Power Bomb and won the match with the SEX On The Beach.

Tsuyoshi Kikuchi betrayed Cherry in their tag match and asked New Sanshiro Takagi if he could join Union full-time. He has been asking to join since January but the decision was always put on hold. New Sanshiro said Kikuchi could join, but he has no actual power to do anything. Naomi Susan butted in and said she will think about it. New Sanshiro ignored her and said he was looking forward to having Kikuchi pump up Union with himself and Big Rude.

Kikuchi returned with New Sanshiro Takagi at the end of the show to again ask Naomi Susan if he can join Union. Naomi said it was too early to decide and she would speak to him later. They were then interrupted by (Old) Sanshiro Takagi, who offered to shake hands with his doppleganger. During the handshake, he gave New Sanshiro a Stone Cold Stunner. He then said on 18th March he will become New Keizo Matsuda!

Rion Mizuki was infatuated by Rumi Kazama during the opener. After defeating Hiroshi Fukuda, Mizuki asked Kazama for her phone number. She didn’t know how to react.

Their planned return to Japan this month will still go ahead with the “NEW YEAR JAPAN TOUR 2012” beginning and ending in Shin-Kiba 1st RING on the 26th.

With new ownership comes a new structure for the company. New Beijing will now encourage their vast roster of fighters to follow three simple values: Friendship, Effort and Victory. The new owners and staff are now looking forward to visiting Japan for the upcoming tour.

Sanshiro Shows Up In Dragon Gate

February 9, 2012

Sanshiro Takagi made a very unexpected appearance for Dragon Gate in Korakuen Hall today just as the dust was settling from a game changing main event. Right after the evil Blood Warriors unit defeated JUNCTION THREE in a Losers Must Disband battle, CIMA stepped up to his former stable and introduced two friends that have come to help him fight his enemies. They were Sanshiro Takagi and TAKA Michinoku. Takagi will compete with CIMA & TAKA to face Akira Tozawa, BxB Hulk & Cyber Kong when Dragon Gate returns to Korakuen on 1st March. This marks the first DDT participation in Dragon Gate since the two cross-promoted “DRAMATIC DREAM GATE” shows back in 2007 and 2008.

Hopefully more information will come to light soon.

6. Danshoku Dino (apparently Antonio Honda) defeated Antonio Honda (apparently Danshoku Dino) with the Gay-Do Clutch (11:20).

DDT went through a Freaky Friday situation in its main event today. At the beginning of the show both Danshoku Dino and Antonio Honda appeared in the ring for the contract signing of their first non-title match. Dino announced that it would just be a normal match with no crazy rules added. Both men shook hands but then accidentaly bonked heads with each other. They then left the ring in a daze. It turns out the bonk on the head made them switch bodies. Danshoku Dino came out for his match dressed as and acting like Antonio Honda while Honda came out as Dino. The match went on with both wrestlers using the other’s signature moves. It ended when Danshoku Dino (Honda) pinned Antonio Honda (Dino) with the Gaydo Clutch. After the match, Antonio Honda (Dino) announced that their second non-title match in Nagoya next week will be a Memphis Last Man Standing Loser Leaves Town match! Dino and Honda bumped heads once again and their bodies were brought back to normal.

Hayato “Jr” Fujita admitted to the audience he was a little nervous wrestling in DDT for the first time. But he was relieved to be warmly welcomed by the fans and to wrestle with HARASHIMA.

Hikaru Sato & Michael Nakazawa Vs Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi was announced for the 19/2 show in Korakuen Hall.

It was confirmed that Daisuke Sasaki will miss the 11th and 19th February DDT shows due to his trip to Mexico. Also, Kazuki Hirata revealed that injuries to his anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus could put him out of action for the long term. While surgery was recommended by his doctor, Hirata has decided not to go through with it in the hopes of being able to return to the ring a lot sooner.

AJPW World Jr. Heavyweight Title: Kenny Omega (c) defeated Kaz Hayashi with the One-Winged Angel (21:55).
*V3 for Kenny Omega.

Kenny Omega scored another career defining victory over one of the best Jr. Heavyweight wrestlers in the world today in All Japan Pro Wrestling. Omega made his third defence of the AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Title by defeating former champion Kaz Hayashi in the semi-main event of today’s show in Korakuen Hall. Hayashi has one of the more outstanding title reigns in puroresu with his most recent title run lasting 17 defences. However, Omega was not intimidated and was more concerned with living up to his claims of being the “cool champion” All Japan needs right now. The One-Winged Angel crushed Hayashi’s chance of winning back the title and Kenny celebrated his win with his cornerman Michael Nakazawa.

After the match, Kenny was confronted by two other AJPW wrestlers KAI and Shuji Kondo. Both of them appealed for title shots. Omega refused KAI on the basis that he defeated him twice already this year, the second time for the title itself. Before Kenny could respond to Shuji’s challenge, Nakazawa blindsided KAI with a chairshot. Omega then said he wanted his next title defence to take place in DDT and left it at that.

When interviewed backstage, Kenny said it was tough to be on the same level as Hayashi but he is now above him and has nothing left to prove. However, he still wants to earn the big money he gets by being the champion. Plus he cherishes his friends and family, friends like Nakazawa. His immediate plans are to now go home so he can eat curry and chocolate croissants.

2012 Contract Renewels

February 1, 2012

Every year, the end of January brings along the annual contract renewals for DDT and Union. This year had nothing earth-shattering taking place, like the 2009 period where Michael Nakazawa’s attempt to re-sign his contract involved Danshoku Dino assaulting him and his wife in their home, then Nakazawa escaping in a car that exploded when it was switched on.

The following is the list of wrestlers who renewed their contract for the year.

Dramatic Dream Team

Sanshiro Takagi, Poison JULIE Sawada, MIKAMI, HARASHIMA, KUDO, Danshoku Dino, Masa Takanashi, Kota Ibushi, Michael Nakazawa, Yasu Urano, Makoto Oishi, Hoshitango, Tomomitsu Matsunaga, Keisuke Ishii, Rion Mizuki, Gota Ihashi, Takao Soma, Kazuki Hirata and Gorgeous Matsuno.

Union

Shuji Ishikawa, Seiya Morohashi (aka Big Rude), Isami Kodaka, Cherry, Ken Ohka, Hiro Tsumaki and Hiroshi Fukuda.

Only one person turned down his contract renewal, Union’s Shinichiro Tominaga. Unfortunately the promising rookie was never able to return to the ring after fracturing his right forearm last June. He thanked the fans for cheering him on during his brief time in Union.
