7. King Of DDT 2012 – Final: Kenny Omega defeated Danshoku Dino with the One-Winged Angel (20:18).

Kenny Omega is your King Of DDT for 2012! Omega survived two hard fought battles with HARASHIMA and Danshoku Dino to win the tournament and earn the big prize of a spot in the main event of Budokan Hall next month. What is even more exciting is that Omega’s match will be against his B.F.F. Kota Ibushi for the KO-D Title. It will be their first singles match against each other since 2008. The only thing that can ruin this now is DJ Nira cashing in his “Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere” contract and somehow beating Ibushi (or Low-Ki being a prick and injuring Ibushi during their upcoming New Japan match, which is more likely).

During Kenny’s victory speech, he said that even thought not everyboy are fans of him, they are all fans of DDT. There are people in Osaka that are DDT fans. There are people in Japan that are DDT fans. There are even people worldwide that are fans of DDT. Kenny promised that he will bring his best performance for his match against Ibushi and that match will be the best performance of the Golden Lovers.

Ibushi responded by saying he had mixed feelings about now having to face Omega. He is glad that Omega won but there will now be tension building between the two the closer they get to the big show. He has exceptional respect for Kenny’s ability and he nows how dangerous he can be. Ibushi feels the pressure but he is also looking forward to the match and promises it will be great.

The semi-finals began with Omega defeating HARASHIMA. The former KO-D Champion expressed disappointment and frustration that he was now unable to compete in the Budokan Hall main event. He also praised Kenny for his strength. Danshoku Dino beat KUDO in devastating fashion with the brand new Danshoku Drivaaaaahhhhh!!!!!, the top rope Danshoku Driver that spikes the opponent’s head into the top turnbuckle. When KUDO recovered he was also disappointed in losing. However, he had no regrets an was impressed with Dino for twice creating a new move in order to beat him in the last year. He is also looking forward to new challenges including those that involve his KO-D Tag Title run with Makoto Oishi.

The show began with Yasu Urano, Antonio Honda, Masa Takanashi & Daisuke Sasaki all entering the ring to announce the formation of a new unit. They along with Hoshitango and Yuji Hino were now known as the Monster Army (no, not the one from HUSTLE). To show their unity and sudden rise of power, the Monster Army demanded that the 4 Way Tag Team match be changed into an 8-Man Tag Team Elimination match. Tsurumi Amon was confused by the sudden change of events but reluctantly gave in and made the match. Unfortunately for the Monster Army, theit first match ended in failure thanks to Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie. Although the Army were able to eliminate Tomomitsu Matsunaga & Tetsuya Endo to create a 4-on-2 advantage, Ishii & Irie defeated the entire side one after the other until they were the only ones left standing.

DDT announced the debut of another new rookie wrestler. Konosuke Takeshita is from Osaka, 186cm high and weighs 85kg. He and Ishii had an in-ring demonstration before Amon revealed that his debut match will be at the Budokan against El Generico. When asked to give comment, Takeshita said “I think this company is crazy, as expected.”

DJ Nira and Hideki Shiota fought each other for the brand new Osaka Omoroi Gate Title. The physical belt does not exist yet so Tsurumi Amon had to hold up and invisible belt as part of the usual pre-match championship presentation. The title would be won by the wrestler that was more interesting and entertaining during the match. However, Amon kept yelling at both competitors for being too boring as they fought each other. Shiota eventually won the match but the title wound up being vacated and disposed of because it wasn’t interesting enough.

1. Antonio Honda defeated Hiroshi Fukuda with a Leg Drop.
2. HARASHIMA & Keisuke Ishii defeated Danshoku Dino & Michael Nakazawa when HARASHIMA pinned Nakazawa with the Somato.

DDT celebrated the opening of a new maid cafe in Harajuku with a live mini show taking place inside the building. Thrity fans randomly chosen online arrived to see HARASHIMA & Keisuke Ishii fight Danshoku Dino & Michael Nakazawa on a blue mat. Both teams were accompanied by a maid employed by the cafe to cheer them on. Nakazawa was on exceptional sleazy form. He tried to stuff his tights into HARASHIMA’s face only to have it happen to him instead. HARASHIMA then finished him off with a Falcon Arrow and the Somato.

The show began with Antonio Honda performing his Hulk Hogan Gymanstics routine but it was interrupted by Hiroshi Fukuda, who called it a farce. Honda asked “Whatcha gonna do?” and challenged Fukuda to a match. Fukuda refused but accidentaly rang a bell to officialy begin the match. Fukuda put Honda into a Sleeper Hold and squeezed the life out of him. “Real American” suddenly began playing over the music system and Honda woke himself up by Axe Bombing his own chest to the beat of the music. They then had the typical Hogan ending with Honda doing the Leg Drop for the pin.

NOAH “GREAT VOYAGE 2012 IN RYOGOKU”, 22/07/2012
Tokyo Ryogoku Kokugikan

Road To Origin: Taiji Ishimori Vs Masahiro Takanashi

A special opportunity has opened up for Masa Takanashi as he is set to face Taiji Ishimori in NOAH at Sumo Hall. Masa and Taiji came into wrestling together as classmates in the Ultimo Dragon Gym. While Ishimori went on to be the centrepiece of the failed Toryumon X brand, Masa never debuted and flunked out of the system. Since then their paths led them in very different directions with Takanashi finding his home in DDT while Ishimori eventually navigated his way into NOAH. To mark the occassion, this match has been titled Road To Origin and Masa will wrestle under the name Masahiro Takanashi, which he originally used in the beginning of his career.

Kota Ibushi will also take part in the show, marking his first appearance in NOAH since July 2009.

2. Danshoku Dino & Michael Nakazawa Vs HARASHIMA & Rey Paroma
3. KO-D Tag Team Title: KUDO & Makoto Oishi (c) Vs Yuji Hino & Yasu Urano

The former champions get their rematch. Crying Wolf is going through a rough period that saw Yuji Hino losing both the KO-D Openweight Title and with Yasu Urano the KO-D Tag Team Title. They have been granted a rematch against the Homoiro Clover Z duo of KUDO & Makoto Oishi with the belts on the line.

Speaking of Crying Wolf, they are now down one man with the announcement that Keita Yano is no longer affiliated with DDT. After the cross promoted DDT and WALLABY show took place on Sunday, DDT and Yano had a discussion about their ideas about pro wrestling. Due to the differences in opinion, it was decided that Yano’s contract would be cancelled as of today.

Beer Garden 2012 – DDT’s Party For The Summer

July 2, 2012

One of the highlights on the DDT calendar is Beer Garden Week. It is a week long series of shows held in Shin-Kiba 1st RING where everyday a different wrestler or group books the show whatever way they want to do. This leads to creative matches and stipulations set up that would never take place in a more normal setting. Highlights from past Beer Garden shows include Kota Ibushi Vs Kenny Omega in a Falls Count Anywhere Best 2 out of 3 Falls match, a Cosplay Royal Rumble, the DDT debut of Mr. #6, a Rock-Paper-Scissors Death Match, a main event tag team match that consisted almost entirely of Lariats and Tsurumi Amon telling a ghost story featuring WCW wrestlers.

Along with the wrestling, the roster also set up stalls to cook and sell food to the fans all day. And of course there is plenty of beer to go around too. With the list of wrestlers below producing shows this year, who knows what ideas they have up their sleeves?

WALLABY X DDT Results

July 1, 2012

WALLABY X DDT, 01/07/2012
Saitama Cerberus Dojo

1. JOM Vs Shigehiro Irie ended in a Double Countout (6:00).
2. Hero Amon Vs Takao Soma ended in a No Contest (2:54).
3. Michael Nakazawa defeated Survival Tobita by Disqualification when Tobita used an electric massager on Nakazawa (8:24).
4. Keita Yano, Batten Tamagawa & Naoshi Sano defeated HARASHIMA, Masa Takanashi & Gota Ihashi when Sano pinned Takanashi with a Brainbuster (20:45).

The joint show between DDT and WALLABY took place thanks to Keita Yano. He cashed in his “Performance Rights Anytime, Anywhere” to make the show happen. Due to how small the building was, every match on the show took place on a mat with traffic cones acting as corner posts.

The main event saw the WALLABY team defeat the DDT team in an upset when Naoshi Sano pinned Masa Takanashi. Gota Ihashi and Keita Yano kept fighting after the bell but both sides eventually calmed down and shook hands. Then someone from the WALLABY roster ran in dressed as Atsushi Onita and soaked Yano with bottles of water.

Survival Tobita cost himself a victory over Michael Nakazawa when he used an electric massager on Nakazawa’s crotch while applying a Figure Four Leg Lock.

Hero Amon has quit the nWJ. He revealed he originally joined the group to spy on them for the LWO. I don’t know what the L stands for but the WO means “Wallaby Order”. Amon’s match with nWJ member Takao Soma ended in a pull apart when Soma would not stop pummelling the hell out of Amon in the audience.

KUDO was originally supposed to face JOM in the first match but had to pull out of the show due to injury. Shigehiro Irie took his place.
