Keisei Main Line Station Rotary Kozunomori

1. KANNA defeated Shoko Nakajima with the Ohka.
2. Miyu Yamashita & Erin defeated Nonoko & Yuka Sakazaki when Yamashita pined Sakazaki with the Crash Rabbit Heat.

The matches took place on a mat outdoors during the Oyaketsu Festival. Since many of the people watching were not wrestling fans, Shoko Nakajima and Yuka Sakazaki explained the rules of pro wrestling before the matches began and also encouraged the audience to cheer for the girls involved.

Much like when DDT holds matches outdoors, the main event saw everyone bring the fight away from the designated area. Nonoko and Sakazaki even brought back some frankfurters to eat while they fought Miyu Yamashita & Erin. At one point a little boy got involved in the match by trying to attack Sakazaki! Yamshita pinned Sakazaki to win the match for her team. Afterwards the little boy jumped on Sakazaki to pin her and the rest of the girls counted to three. Afterwards they joked that when the boy grows up he will be known as “the man who pinned Yuka Sakazaki”.

1. Mitomi Masayuki defeated Tomoya Kawamura with a Vertical Drop Brainbuster (9:28).
2. Shuji Ishikawa, SAGAT & Ryu Gouma defeated Mio Shirai, Cherry & Ladybeard when Ishikawa pinned Cherry with the Splash Mountain (11:08).
3. Shibata defeated Seiya Morohashi with a Lariat (5:38).
4. Isami Kodaka & FUMA defeated Daichi Kazato & Madoka when Kodaka pinned Kazato with the Zan Isamu Leg (12:43).
5. Hiroshi Fukuda Send Off Battle Royal: MEN’S Teioh defeated SAGAT with the Perfect Plex (21:17).
Order of Elimination: Nazo Fukumen J, Mitomi Masayuki, Ladybeard, Mame Endo, Tomoya Kawamura & Daichi Kazato, Goro Jr., Ryuma Go, Shuji Ishikawa, Cherry, FUMA, A.YAZAWA, Mio Shirai, Hosomino Shyboy, Isami Kodaka and SAGAT.

Today’s Union show featured the final appearance of Hiroshi Fukuda before he transfers over to All Japan. Unfortunately Fukuda suffered a dislocated shoulder blade during the week and was unable to wrestle. He told the fans that the injury is healing slowly and he will not rush back to the ring before he is ready.

Fukuda hosted the main event Royal Rumble that was created to crown the new Mr. Perfect. The match saw the return of a Nazo Fukumen, the mysterious masked man gimmick Fukuda was involved with last year when he was banished from Union. This one was unmasked by SAGAT and revealed to be Jun Kasai! The rest of the field was filled with Union wrestlers and unexpected participants such as A.YAZAWA, Mame Endo and musician Hosomino Shyboy. MEN’S Teioh was the last man standing, lastly pinning SAGAT with the Perfect Plex. Fukuda presented Teioh with a crown, cloak and tambourine to officially recognise him as the 2nd generation Mr. Perfect!

Daichi Kazato refused to shake hands with Isami Kodaka after the semi-main event. Shibata recorded the match with his GoPro and said he will send it to Hikaru Sato so they can prepare for the UWA World Tag Team Title match on 3rd November.

The inter-gender trios match became more heated when Ryu Gouma blamed Union’s joshi division for impacting the company’s profits. Cherry argued that couldn’t be true. She also said she was the only person in the match who finished in the Dramatic General Election Top 20. Gouma said he was using this match to assess each woman’s worth and would restructure Union’s finances based on that information. He even suggested getting rid of the women’s division entirely. Mio Shirai wondered if Gouma was paranoid because he isn’t in a relationship. Gouma snapped and attacked Shirai to start the match. Shuji Ishikawa almost destroyed Cherry when he attempted to give her the Splash Mountain outside the ring but Shirai came to the rescue. Cherry later hit the Cherryton Bomb and Spring Night Love for a nearfall but Ishikawa hit back with the Fire Thunder Driver. He then hit the Splash Mountain inside the ring for the victory.

5. DDT Extreme Title: Akito (c) Vs Soma Takao
6. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo (c) Vs KUDO & Masa Takanashi

The main event is protein shakes vs liquor. Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo plan to drink protein shakes as a toast for their victory on Sunday. Masa Takanashi is pretty insulted that they would drink protein shakes instead of alcohol.

Akito has decided his DDT Extreme Title match against Soma Takao will just be a normal singles match. Akito still remembers when he lost to Takao in a King of DDT qualifying match back in May. He is still bitter over the defeat and wants to prove he can beat Takao without any crazy stipulation aiding him. He’ll start defending the Extreme Title the way it is supposed to be defended once he beats Takao. Also since DDT is currently being passed over to a new generation of wrestlers, Akito wants to make the Extreme Title as prestigious as the KO-D Openweight Title.

URRC stands for Ultimate Reverse RIZAP Championship and is inspired by the RIZAP exercise program. The URRC was created by Yumehito Imanari to cheer on female wrestlers who are not confident in the ring. Imanari used Wikipedia to look up the weight and height of each joshi wrestler competing in the match. He then seperated each woman into a different weight class. Aoi Ishibashi (160cm/62kg) is a Welterweight, Manami Koda (152cm/62kg) is a Cruiserweight, Hamuko Hoshi (161cm/60kg) is a Middleweight and Kurumi (150cm/60kg) is a Heavyweight. How this is supposed to make them feel better, I don’t know.

Hong Kong International Police Man has suffered a neck injury and will not be able to wrestle on the show. He might not even appear at all because of it.

3. Keisuke Ishii & Soma Takao defeated Akito & MIKAMI when Takao pinned Akito with the Gin And Tonic (11:24).
4. Next KO-D Tag Team Title Challengers Match: KUDO & Masa Takanashi defeated Kota Ibushi & Daisuke Sasaki when KUDO pinned Sasaki with the Diving Double Knee Drop (14:26).
5. Sanshiro Takagi, Toru Owashi & Kazuki Hirata defeated Danshoku Dino, Makoto Oishi & Shunma Katsumata when Hirata pinned Katsumata with the Viagra Driver (5:57).
6. Isami Kodaka & FUMA defeated HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano when FUMA pinned Urano with the Sobat Kick (18:57).

The main event of today’s show was a DDT Vs Union crossover battle. HARASHIMA and Isami Kodaka got to test each other out before the big KO-D Openweight Title match at the end of the month. However it was FUMA and Yasu Urano who were involved with the finish. FUMA pinned Urano while Kodaka wiped out HARASHIMA with a Suicide Dive outside the ring. Kodaka complimented FUMA with a “Well done!” after the match. Kodaka then said he and FUMA are a much better team than Smile Squash because they are the UWA World Tag Team Champions. He thanked the fans for the 689 votes he got in the DDT Dramatic General Election that granted him his title shot.

KUDO & Masa Takanashi earned a KO-D Tag Team Title shot when they beat Kota Ibushi & Daisuke Sasaki. The title match will be in Sapporo on 12th October. The champions Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo watched the match from a corner of the venue and approached their next challengers. Takeshita said as the future of DDT he and Endo will not lose to Shuten-dōji. Instead they will use Shuten-dōji as a stepping stone. Endo said he will have raise a toast with protein when they win. Takanashi warned that they were making a big mistake. KUDO said he has won the KO-D Openweight and KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles as part of Shuten-dōji. He now cherishes the chance to win the KO-D Tag Team Titles.

Kazuki Hirata failed to appear with his teammates for the semi-main event. It was explained that Hirata is suffering from Magnum Syndrome and one of the side effects is being unable to enter ringside without his theme music. Danshoku Dino, Makoto Oishi & Shunma Katsumata took advantage and overwhelmed the remaining T2Hide wrestlers until “Tokyo GO!” was finally played. Hirata came to the rescue, fueled by his song. That was the deciding factor and T2Hide came out on top.

Soma Takao gained a lot of momentum for his upcoming DDT Extreme Title match against Akito. Takao pinned the champion in a tag team match and afterwards looked like he was going to steal his belt. Instead Takao placed it on Akito’s defeated body.

Shigehiro Irie did quick work to win the 3 Way Match. Very quick work actually. He submitted DJ Nira with a Chinlock before Yukio Sakaguchi could even enter the ring. Amon Tsurumi said felt the result was not a good way to commemorate Sakaguchi becoming fully affiliated with DDT so he ordered the match to restart. Irie then submitted Nira again even faster than the first time. The match restarted again and both Irie and Nira wrestled away from ringside with Sakaguchi chasing after them. They eventually returned on a pallet truck that was wheeled down to the ring. Nira hit Sakaguchi with the Rocket Punch and taunted him until Irie snuck up and submitted Nira one more time.

For their last match as a unit, Pigging promised to wrestle fair and square in the opening match. They then ambushed Happy Motel before the bell rang. The plan didn’t work and Michael Nakazawa was pinned by Konosuke Takeshita. After the match Gota Ihashi told Amon Tsurumi that they lost because the other team had great luck so Pigging will not disband. Tsurumi was against the idea but asked if Nakazawa and Tomomitsu Matsunaga really wanted the unit to continue. Matsunaga laughed and said he it was a good unit apart from everybody in it. They all agreed to disband Pigging.

The Smile Squash produced Korakuen Hall show on 12th November will be called “I WANT TO SEE THE SMILES OF EVERYONE”. One of the matches planned is involves Tomomitsu Matsunaga taking up his DDT Sumo King role again.

Kenny Omega To Leave DDT, Joins New Japan

October 3, 2014

kenny-omega-njpw

An emergency press conference was held by DDT today to announce Kenny Omega will finish working for the company in October and will be permanently transferring over to New Japan. Due to changing circumstances DDT is now signing its roster to 6 month contracts instead of year long contracts. During negotiations Omega said he wanted to work for New Japan and was determined to move. NJPW president Naoki Sugabayashi said he was surprised when he heard about Omega’s proposal but immediately started discussions with other New Japan staff to sign him. A deal was struck between DDT and New Japan to let Kenny finish up his remaining dates with DDT.

Kenny said he has often wrestled in New Japan, usually in the Best Of The Super Juniors tournament, but always felt like he was just a guest. He thinks New Japan has the best wrestlers in the world and he wants to prove he is the best Junior Heavyweight. Leaving DDT will be painful and he will feel lonely without them but he is at his physical peak. He will be disappointed if he could never reach his limit at 100%. Kenny confirmed he is not signing a dual contract like Kota Ibushi (who has signed a new one year contract with NJPW). He needs to put all of his focus on New Japan if he wants to be successful.

DDT president Sanshiro Takagi told the press he respects the will of his wrestlers as to why he is allowing Kenny to transfer between companies. Ibushi did not want to leave DDT entirely for New Japan so a deal was made for him to sign two contracts with the goal of boosting both companies. Because Kenny had so much desire to wrestle for New Japan, Takagi would not stop him from leaving.

When asked about whether or not Omega will continue the Golden Lovers team with Ibushi, Omega said they now wrestle in different divisions. Omega is sticking with Jr. Heavyweight while Ibushi has recently become a heavyweight. Omega says he has no choice but to find a new partner if he was to focus on tag team wrestling. He does wonder if he and Ibushi will eventually team together again in New Japan though. He was asked if there was a unit he wants to join. Kenny said he considered joining Bullet Club but they don’t suit him. For now his goal is to win the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title as soon as possible.

Kenny’s last words for his fans is they should continue supporting DDT. To the fans of New Japan, he wants to show them more of his style of wrestling. He also wants to make new fans out of people who have never seen him before. Omega’s match for DDT will be at the 26th October Korakuen Hall show. It will be himself and Ibushi against Danshoku Dino and Konosuke Takeshita in a Falls Count Anywhere match. There is no date set yet for his first New Japan match.
