DDT, Big Japan and K-DOJO were in Korakuen Hall for their annual New Year’s Eve event. This year the show was entirely built around a tag team tournament featuring wrestlers from all three promotions. Matches that ended in a Time Limit Draw went to Sudden Death with one count pinfalls. Danshoku Dino and Keisuke Ishii were originally supposed to compete but were both pulled from the show, Dino due to a hernia and Ishii due to a fever. Antonio Honda and Soma Takao took their places.

Yuko Miyamoto and Isami Kodaka capped off a successful 2014 by winning the tag team tournament. Yankee Nichokenju defeated four strong teams to be claimed the winners: KUDO & Yukio Sakaguchi, Makoto Oishi & Shiori Asahi, Ryuji Ito & Jaki Numazawa and in the final Yuji Hino & Yuji Okabayashi.

Konosuke Takeshita and Tetsuya Endo fought Big Japan’s deathmatch duo Ryuji Ito & Jaki Numazawa. The bout was turned into a hardcore match with steel chairs placed around the ring. Endo was left a bloody mess but he and Takeshita fought until the time expired. Unfortunately in Sudden Death, Ito pinned Endo for his team to advance. Backstage Endo said he will nominate Ito & Numazawa as the next challengers for the KO-D Tag Team Titles after they beat Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi in Saitama Super Arena!

Ito & Numazawa took the violent road up to the semi-finals. Each of their matches in the tournament were Hardcore Matches. Their semi-final against Kodaka & Miyamoto was also a Fluorescent Lighttube Death Match! It was also the match that was taking place when the clock struck midnight.

Takayuki Ueki was in the Brahman Brothers’ corner for their match against HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano. Ueki pulled out a gun and threatened to use it on everybody but it was just to distract everyone for a Diving Cross Body. Everybody just moved out of the way and he missed.

TAKA Michinoku waited until the show began to announce his mystery partner. It was The Great Kojika! Their opponents Sanshiro Takagi & Abdullah Kobayashi brought in a bucket of rice cakes to use as weapons. The plan backfired when Kojika forced a rice cake into Takagi’s mouth and pinned him in the process.

The Japan Indie Awards 2014 were presented by Samurai! TV during the show. DDT won the Best Box Office (17th August “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2014”), Best Bout (Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega Vs Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo, 28th September) and MVP (HARASHIMA) awards. Best Unit went to Muno Taiyo (The Great Sasauke & Brahman Brothers) from Michinoku Pro and Best Newcomer went to Takayuki Ueki from Big Japan.

5. Special Tag Match: Shota & Tomoya Kawamura defeated Ken Ohka & Yumehito Imanari when Kawamura pinned Imanari with a Moonsault (14:59).

The last Ganbare☆Wrestling show of the year continued the Ganpuro Vs Union Pro rivalry in the main event. Ken Ohka & Yumehito Imanari stood their ground against the invaders Shota & Tomoya Kawamura. All four brawled around ringside before settling inside the ring. Imanari took a beating but kept himself fired up by yelling “I do not lose!” Unfotunately for him Kawamura put him away with a Moonsault.

Chikara and Kazuhiko Ogasawara brawled with each other after the semi-main event. They had to be pulled apart.

Yukihiro Abe was left frustrated with his loss to GENTARO. After the match GENTARO tried to give him encouragement but Abe left the ring in silence. However Abe would return at the end of the show inspired by Ohka & Imanari’s performance in the main event. He and Ohka challenged Shota & Tomoya Kawamura to a match on 8th February.

After beating Tiger Bed Scene in a match, Madoka took his escort girls. Mai Chusonji & Kaori Masukoji were happy to be at the winner’s side.

Angela Ami was taken out of the show when she was diagnosed with acute bronchitis earlier today. She was replaced by REINA wrestler Makoto. Yumehito Imanari still wanted to use the Angela Aki gimmick so he turned Makoto into Angela Mako. She and Miyako Matsumoto both wrestled in Angela Aki style glasses but they kept on getting knocked or thrown off during the match. Imanari got angry at the disrespect the women showed towards the glasses and attacked both of them, forcing the match to end without a winner. Both Makoto and Matsumoto kicked Imanari in the face and left the ring. When Imanari recovered he announced that Angela Ami will go back to being Manami Koda and will face Kana on 8th February.

3. Miyu Yamashita defeated Akane Miura with the Crash Rabbit Heat (7:11).

Tokyo Joshi Pro held its final show of the year with Miyu Yamashita Vs Akane Miura in the main event. Miura was the latest road block in Yamashita’s way. Despite having less experience, Miura’s size and strength was something that Yamashita could not previously get past. But today Yamashita escaped from the Canadian Backbreaker and hit the Crash Rabbit Heat for the victory. Her rival Nonoko sarcastically congratulated her after the match but also joked that she had no stamina left to do her victory dance. Nonoko was then interrupted by Shoko Nakajima & Yuka Sakazaki. Earlier the two girls won their first match as a team together and have named themselves the Fighting Comedians to celebrate. The Fighting Comedians challenged Bust Deluxe to a tag team match to take place on 10th January.

DDT president and Tokyo Joshi Pro owner Sanshiro Takagi appeared at the end of the show to congratulate the women for a successful year. Ever since the summer they have been selling out Tokyo BASEMENT MONSTAR so it is time to move to the next step. Tokyo Joshi Pro will be have a show in Shinjuku FACE on 28th February and again in September next year!

Takagi also introduced two new trainees named MIZUHO and Misao (temporary name). They both aim to debut at Shinjuku FACE. Ririko Kendo then appeared and said she wants to come back to the ring on that date too.

Yuka Sakazaki is now bringing a broom to the ring and she uses it as a weapon in her matches.

harashima-irie

DDT ends 2014 with a sold out crowd at Korakuen Hall and a cleared path on the road to Saitama Super Arena next February. In the main event HARASHIMA put the KO-D Openweight Title on the line against Shigehiro Irie, the last member of Team Dream Futures to go through in his current title reign. Irie was fueled by his desire to get revenge for his friends but as always HARASHIMA’s training meant the champion came out on top. After the match Irie still wanted HARASHIMA to apologise to Keisuke Ishii & Soma Takao but they pulled him away from the ring. HARASHIMA described Irie as a dangerous opponent and he was so strong that it was almost cheating. But he was still better. Kota Ibushi then entered the ring and faced off with HARASHIMA. Ibushi simply said “It’s been a long time. Saitama Super Arena. Thank you.”

motel-beats-shuten

Happy Motel is still accepting vacancies. Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo scored their 4th successful defence of the KO-D Tag Team Titles against Shuten-dōji. The champs were able to get rid of KUDO and isolate Yukio Sakaguchi inside the ring. A short range Lariat from Takeshita, the Sky Twister Press from Endo and then a German Suplex from Takeshita was enough to put away Sakaguchi. Takeshita thanked Shuten-dōji after the match for their challenge. He and Endo are committed to be the future of DDT. Amon Tsurumi then approached the champs to give them a message. He has a world class tag team to challenge them at Saitama Super Arena… Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi! Endo said he will be ready to fight them and Takeshita said he wants to German Suplex Sekimoto!

nakazawa-countdown

Hikaru Sato wrestled in DDT again for the first time in 11 months as part of the finale of Michael Nakazawa’s farewell series. Unfortunately the match only lasted 30 seconds. Nakazawa took the quick loss in his stride and posed for a commemorative photo with the other wrestlers who just wanted to get the entire thing over with. Nakazawa gave a goodbye speech while the other wrestlers ignored him and walked to the back. Nakazawa then stopped himself and said he didn’t want to go out this way. This was not just Nakazawa’s farewell, it was the Nuru Nuru Brothers, Belt Hunter x Hunter and Shit Heart ♥ Foundation reuniting for one last time! “Please cooperate in making my memories! Ring the bell!” The match restarted and Nakazawa was attacked by Sato and Masa Takanashi, who were yelling “Thank you for the memories!” as they stomped him. Tomomitsu Matsunaga rallied the fans behind Nakazawa. Unfortunately in the end Nakazawa was put away by Sato’s Cross Armbreaker submission. After the match Sato told Nakazawa he hopes if Nakazawa ever comes back from Singapore he will have transformed into a new wrestler.

ibushi-chinsuke

The Golden☆Storm Riders audition reached its conclusion as four men had to battle Kota Ibushi & Daisuke Sasaki in order to gain acceptance into the stable. Shunma Katsumata was the first eliminated when Sasaki tapped him out. The most notable contestant was Chinsuke Nakamura, a Shinsuke Nakamura impersonator. Ibushi and Chinsuke went at it in a preview of Ibushi’s upcoming Tokyo Dome match with the real Nakamura. Ibushi eliminated Chinsuke when he countered the Boma Ye into a gentle Last Ride Power Bomb. Suguru Miyatake and former member Gota Ihashi were left and fought their hearts out until Ibushi pinned Miyatake and called an end to the audition. Even though Ihashi was the sole survivor, Miyatake was picked as the winner! Ibushi then admitted he made up his mind before the audition even begun and it didn’t even make sense for the audition to happen in the first place! Ihashi complained about the decision but Ibushi knocked him out. Miyatake said he will work hard to live up to the stable’s name. The new Golden☆Storm Riders will challenge for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles on 3rd January.

yoshihiko-lilico

Sanshiro Takagi made it his duty to return the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title to DDT from the popstar LiLiCo. Problem is she has Bernard Ackah as her bodyguard and he was instructed to bash anyone who got in her way. LiLiCo also got involved in the match when she could. But Takagi played dirty and pulled down Ackah’s shorts to distract him. He then rolled him over with La Magistral Cradle for the victory. LiLiCo tried to escape with the Iron Man Title but she was cut off at every corner by different wrestlers and carried back to the ring. Takagi asked for the belt once more but LiLiCo then attacked him with it! She yelled that she will be the eternal champion but then there was a blackout. When the lights came on Yoshihiko was perched on the top turnbuckle behind her! When she turned around Yoshihiko dove onto her and pinned her to win the title back for DDT! LiLiCo fled in a panic while Ackah apologised to her over and over. Ackah also said he wanted another match with Takagi. He underestimated him and said Takagi fought strong rather than fought dirty. He now understands that he must study more about wrestling to combat Takagi’s style.

oishi-submits-akito

Makoto Oishi scored a big victory over Akito, making the DDT Extreme Champion tap out. Obviously this makes Oishi the next challenger for the title. He is fine wrestling Akito in any match Akito can think of, especially if it involves idols.

magnum-honda

Once again Kazuki Hirata’s Magnum mask went missing before his match. This time it was Antonio Honda who stole it and did the Magnum TOKYO entrance to make Hirata jealous.

super-tlc

Crazy & President will reunite for “SAITAMA SUPER DDT 2015” to take part in a Super TLC Match! Sanshiro Takagi & Jun Kasai will face two mystery wrestlers in a match that involves 10 Tables, 3 Ladders and 100 Chairs!

yoshihiko-ringdream

Three more DDT wrestlers will turn into gender-swapped characters for the Ring☆Dream web browser game. The new additions are HARASHIMA, Yukio Sakaguchi and Yoshihiko. HARASHIMA and Sakaguchi were both impressed with their characters. Sakaguchi said his one is a good woman while HARASHIMA called his character healthy looking. Yoshihiko’s character is described as a beautiful girl but as you can see above, it’s pretty creepy.

7. Union MAX Title: FUMA defeated Hikaru Sato (c) with the Sole Butt To The Face (20:18).
*Hikaru Sato fails in V3. FUMA becomes the 4th Union MAX Champion!

We have a new Union MAX Champion and his name is FUMA! For six months Hikaru Sato has held the title and he had done nothing but look down on the Union roster. FUMA came out in new gear and with new music while a lackadaisical Sato threw the belt into the ring during his entrance. It was a tense match but FUMA overcame the odds to win the championship. FUMA told Sato after the match that even though he hated his behaviour he still respects him for his strong performances. FUMA bowed but Sato left without a response.

Isami Kodaka challenged FUMA to an 8-Man Tag Team match for 10th January. It will be Kodaka, Shuji Ishikawa, Seiya Morohashi & Cherry Vs FUMA, Daichi Kazato, SAGAT & Mio Shirai.

Match #5 was filled with big appeal as Kazushi Miyamoto & Seiya Morohashi muscle posed their way to victory over Shuji Ishikawa & Tomoya Kawamura.

Match #4 had people seeing double as Tigers Mask/Atsushi Maruyama appeared as a Hiroshi Fukuda clone! The real Fukuda introduced his clone as the 3rd Generation Mr. Perfect (Fukuda is 1st Gen, MEN’S Teioh is 2nd Gen). Clone Fukuda had trouble keeping his crown and wig in place while he wrestled but he was on the winning team. The real Fukuda said in 2015 he will create more Mr. Perfect clones!

Nobody was happier to see the return of an Idea Pocket Diva to Union than Madoka. He was able to convince Harumi Tachibana to be in his corner as he wrestled SAGAT. Tachibana was there in a race queen costume to provide support and motivation. It ended up working as Madoka defeated SAGAT and eagerly thanked his diva for supporting him. He later said he will continue the diva revolution in pro wrestling.

Ryu Gouma had a challenge for Mio Shirai that was very different from her match with Shuji Ishikawa from last month. Gouma wore a suit in the ring and wanted to face Shirai in a battle of intelligence instead of physical strength. The challenge involved Gouma asking Shirai questions to test her knowledge. For every answer she got wrong Gouma would get to do a wrestling move. He put Shirai into a Waistlock to begin the challenge. The first question was what does the K in UK stand for? She panicked and said Christmas. She was wrong so Gouma put her in a Camel Clutch. The next question was what do the stars on the American flag represent? Shirai said it represents the number of countries America has defeated. She was wrong again and then claimed she hates getting questions about stuff overseas. The third question was who was the author Rashomon? Shirai answered Soseki Natsume and then Akechi Mitsuhide. She was wrong for both and Gouma got the audience to say the right answer, Ryūnosuke Akutagawa. Gouma applied a Manjigatame but Shirai got fed up with the game and fought out of it. She then put Gouma in the dreaded Figure Four Headscissors and made him submit. After the match Gouma claimed he won 3-1 because Shirai got her three questions wrong. He and Shirai then continued to argue over who won the match.

Both Cherry and Ladybeard wrestled in Santa dresses.

Unfortunately during the match he suffered a cervical sprain and thoracic contusion. There is no timeframe for his recovery but it is certain he will be gone from Union for longer than the 60 day suspension.

First and second round matches have a 10 minute time limit, the semi-finals have a 15 minute time limit and the final has no time limit. Overtime uses one count pinfall rules. The semi-final pairings will be decided with a lottery.

*V1 for Gorgeous Matsuno, Brahman Shu & Brahman Kei.
5. Michael Nakazawa Holiday Countdown 2 – Farewell Formidable Enemy! Nakazawa’s Unexpected Retreat! Flattery Unexpected! Reflection Unexpected!: Kota Ibushi defeated Michael Nakazawa with the Sit Down Last Ride (14:56).
6. Tetsuya Endo & Antonio Honda defeated KUDO & Masa Takanashi when Endo pinned Takanashi with the Sky Twister Press (9:58).
7. Hakata Specialty 4 Way Match: Yukio Sakaguchi defeated HARASHIMA, Shigehiro Irie and Konosuke Takeshita when Sakaguchi pinned Takeshita with the Knee Kick to the face (11:47).

Sanshiro Takagi announced that this year was DDT’s 10th year of promoting shows in Hakata. Takagi said next year he wants to have big matches and fill up the entire Hakata Star Lane building.

Happy Motel and Shuten-dōji traded wins in the final two matches. Tetsuya Endo & Antonio Honda defeated KUDO & Masa Takanashi in the semi-main event. The main event was a 4 Way Match that ended when Yukio Sakaguchi pinned Konosuke Takeshita. HARASHIMA almost won the match but his Somato attempt was stopped dead by Shigehiro Irie’s Beast Bomber.

The next match in Michael Nakazawa’s farewell tour was a Falls Count Anywhere match against Kota Ibushi, which meant Nakazawa was fucked no matter what he did. They fought around the arena and Nakazawa was later taped to a flat trolley and rolled acrossed the arena. After Ibushi beat him with the Sit Down Last Ride he requested that he and Nakazawa have a street wrestling match. Nakazawa said it sounds good and they should do it in Singapore, the Philippines or even Vietnam.

Mind games were in full effect in the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles match. Kazuki Hirata entered the ring without his Magnum mask and costume. Out came Gorgeous Matsuno wearing the mask and costume. He even did a little Magnum dance too! The Brahman Brothers brought in their foreign objects which this time included ramen noodles. Matsuno later brought in an Ultimo Dragon mask and pinned Hirata when he blocked Hirata’s La Magistral Cradle. Matsuno afterwards said the belts will remain with him and the Brahmans as they head towards the Saitama Super Arena show.

The mysterious Fish-Man took part in the Infomercial Match against Super Sasadango Machine and Yasu Urano to promote his “Fish-Man Hakata Fireside“ tavern. But after being defeated by Sasadango he was unmasked and revealed to be Batten Tamagawa!

DDT “DNA 1” Videos

December 13, 2014

DDT has uploaded the first show from their DNA series. DNA (DDT New Attitude) is a brand dedicated to the rookies and dojo students of DDT and Union. Many of the wrestlers appearing on this show were making their pro wrestling debuts.

1. Suguru Miyatake Vs Kouki Iwasaki

Suguru Miyatake is from Nakano and has already become one of the more infamous rookies in DDT history. Recruited in 2013, Miyatake participated in exhibition matches throughout 2014 and kept expecting his official debut to be announced. It wouldn’t happen. Miyatake was not considered ready and his lackluster performances would keep him at trainee level for a long time. DDT General Manager Amon Tsurumi even said he would never debut in 100 years! Well, that debut finally happens here. Kouki Iwasaki is from Sapporo and has trained under Kenichi Yamamoto.

2. Shunma Katsumata Vs Dai Suzuki

Shunma Katsumata is from Chiba and was trained by Yasu Urano. He was originally part of a SMASH training camp but never got to debut before the company closed down. He is one of the first wrestlers in the DNA class to officially debut for DDT when he had his first match in April of this year. I couldn’t find much information for Dai Suzuki.

3. Kazusada Higuchi Vs Kouta Umeda

Kazusada Higuchi is a former sumo wrestler from Hokkaido. He participated in sumo for 7 years and has a record of 140 wins and 128 losses until retiring in January this year. Kouta Umeda is a kickboxer from Kumamoto.

4. Tomoya Kawamura Vs Ryota Nakatsu

Tomoya Kawamura is from Osaka and is a Union young lion. He is the first wrestler to debut from DNA, having his first match in October 2013. Kawamura graduated from Ritsumeikan University and was in the same college wrestling club that Hiroshi Tanahashi came from. Ryota Nakatsu is from Kyoto and was an underground MMA fighter.

5. Shunma Katsumata & Suguru Miyatake Vs Kazusada Higuchi & Ryota Nakatsu
The main event features the winners of the previous matches taking part in a tag team match.
