1a. Goro Jr. defeated Ryu Gouma with a Triangle Lancer (8:08).
2. Madoka defeated Ryota Nakatsu with the Ranhyei (9:37).
3. Tomoya Kawamura defeated Awamori Man with a Sling Blade (11:22).
4. Come Out Tag Match: Isami Kodaka, Shuji Ishikawa, Seiya Morohashi & Cherry defeated FUMA, Daichi Kazato, SAGAT & Mio Shirai (39:40).
4a. FUMA eliminated Seiya Morohashi with the Jawbreaker (10:38).
4b. Shuji Ishikawa eliminated Mio Shirai By Ring Out (14:19).
4c. SAGAT eliminated Cherry with the Crushed Spring Night Love (16:58).
4d. Shuji Ishikawa eliminated SAGAT with the Running Knee Lift (25:04).
4e. Daichi Kazato and Shuji Ishikawa were both eliminated by Double Ring Out (37:06).
4f. Isami Kodaka eliminated FUMA with the Isamuashi Zan (39:40).

The main event was an Old Generation Vs New Generation elimination match with a twist. The match started off as FUMA & Mio Shirai Vs Shuji Ishikawa & Seiya Morohashi in a tag team match. When a wrestler gets eliminated one of the remaining two wrestlers on the team would take their place. The match would continue to be two versus two until the numbers whittled down. There were already problems on the New Gen team when Shirai said she didn’t like FUMA’s battle plan and would use her own strategy instead. Despite being on a different page, they scored first blood when FUMA pinned Morohashi. Cherry came in for the Old Gen team. Shirai’s strategy of wearing down Ishikawa backfired when he escaped her Hanging Headscissors over the rope and knocked her out of the ring for the Ring Out. SAGAT came in and proved to be a good pick when he eliminated Cherry. Isami Kodaka entered the match and Ishikawa evened the odds by eliminating SAGAT. Daichi Kazato arrived and the match was down to the final four wrestlers. Ishikawa attempted to eliminated Kazato in more ways than one with the Fire Thunder onto the apron. But Kazato fought out of the move and did a Huracanrana that eliminated both of them from the match. The match came down to FUMA and Kodaka as the two UWA World Tag Team Champions fought each other. FUMA kicked out of a German Suplex at 1 and went for the Jawbreaker but Kodaka dodged and hit the Isamuashi Zan kick for the win. After the match Kodaka said he wasn’t going to lose to the New Generation.

Hiroshi Fukuda appeared at the end to announce his injury has healed and he will return to action on 28th January. I’m not sure if his planned stay in All Japan is still going to happen.

The first Union match of 2015 only lasted 16 seconds. Ryu Gouma was so embarrassed from tapping out so quickly to Goro Jr. that he demanded an immediate rematch. He used his powers as a lawyer to make it happen. He also made sure the rematch could only end by Pinfall. Goro put Gouma in an Armbar, a Sharpshooter and MMA style pound and ground. Gouma submitted to each move and pleaded for the match to end but it continued. When Gouma had a chance to get away he apologised for changing the rules and asked for submissions to count again. He tried to sneak attack Goro but was fought off and put in a Triangle Lancer. Gouma gave up again and even announced Goro as the winner as the bell rang for the match to end.

3. Jiro Kuroshio defeated Tomoya Kawamura with a Sunset Flip (9:27).
4. Hideki Suzuki & Koji Iwamoto defeated Ryota Nakatsu & Kouki Iwasaki when Suzuki pinned Nakatsu with the One Handed Backbreaker (10:53).
5. Katsuhiko Nakajima & Mitsuhiro Kitamiya defeated Kazusada Higuchi & Shunma Katsumata when Nakajima pinned Katsumata with a Vertical Drop Brainbuster (20:24).
6. Jun Kasai defeated Suguru Miyatake with the Pearl Harbour Splash (14:33).

Suguru Miyatake had the unenviable task of taking on Jun Kasai in the main event. However he went after the Crazy Monkey with gusto, attacking him the moment the bell rang. A steel chair was brought in and was used by both wrestlers on each other. Kasai was unaffected but Miyatake took damage. He tried to stay in the match but was eventually pinned with the Pearl Harbour Splash. Kasai wondered why a fresh rookie from dullsville wanted to take on the charismatic death match wrestler. Kasai knows how to be strong and offered Miyatake the chance to team with him some day.

Katsuhiko Nakajima said he will remember Kazusada Higuchi’s name and was surprised to find out they are both the same age.

Overall it was a tough day for the rookies. A lot of them faced more experienced wrestlers and came up short. Sanshiro Takagi explained at the end of the show that the DNA wrestlers need to be given tough tests like these. He then revealed in February Miyatake will have a match against Yuko Miyamoto.

7. KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles: Gorgeous Matsuno, Brahman Shu & Brahman Kei Vs KUDO, Yukio Sakaguchi & Masa Takanashi
8. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo (c) Vs Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi
9. KO-D Openweight Title: HARASHIMA (c) Vs Kota Ibushi

Kota Ibushi is currently reeling from yesterday’s defeat to Shinsuke Nakamura in the Tokyo Dome. He’ll have another chance at claiming some gold back in DDT when he faces the most dominant KO-D Openweight Champion in the company’s history, HARASHIMA.

Happy Motels face their greatest challenge yet in the form of Big Japan’s literal strongest duo, Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi. The young champions have already gone through many of DDT’s regular teams but none of them are on the level of Strong BJ.

The KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles have gone through its most craziest matches ever since it went around the waists of Gorgeous Matsuno & the Brahman Brothers. Their title defences have turned into hardcore brawls with suitcases, bowling balls, a pig head and black ink all involved. So pretty much your regular Brahman Brothers match. Hardcore drinkers Shuten-dōji are the next team stepping into the ring with them.

The loser of the 25th January DDT Extreme Title match between Akito and Makoto Oishi will be in the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title Battle Royal. The winner will defend the Extreme Title against someone to be determined. Since most if not all of the active roster is booked already I think the challenger will come from outside of DDT. Maybe a Union guy now that I think about it.

Speaking of the Iron Man Title, Aja Kong now possesses the belt and has challenged all comers to try and take it off her. Among them is the previous champion Saki Akai who will surely love to get revenge for Kong spoiling her big moment. Bernard Ackah will also be there after the failed bodyguard and second Super Sasadango Machine admitted he wanted to do pro wrestling.

The Super TLC Match involves 10 Tables, 3 Ladders (1x3m high, 2x2m high) and 100 Chairs. Sanshiro Takagi & Jun Kasai reform their Crazy & President team to face members of Team Dream Futures, Golden☆Storm Riders and the veteran team pairing of MIKAMI & Shuji Ishikawa.

The teams led by Akebono and Yoshihiko have been chosen. Akebono has T2Hide members Toru Owashi & Kazuki Hirata on his side. This means we could see Akebono be forced to do the Magnum TOKYO dance with Hirata! Yoshihiko has recruited Antonio Honda and The Great Kojika. At 72 years old Kojika is still going at it in the ring.

Super Sasadango Machine faces a mystery opponent. Heck if I know who it is. What’s worse is Machine may not be able to figure out how to prepare for the match. How can he set up a PowerPoint presentation if he doesn’t know what he is up against?

Michael Nakazawa’s final match in DDT, at least for now, is against a fully recovered Danshoku Dino. Nakazawa is moving to Singapore to focus on his career as a fitness instructor. Dino is returning from a hernia.

Danshoku Dino Army

Antonio Honda, Konosuke Takeshita, Tetsuya Endo, Gorgeous Matsuno, Brahman Shu, Brahman Kei, Shuji Ishikawa, Shigehiro Irie, Soma Takao, Sanshiro Takagi, Toru Owashi, Kazuki Hirata, MIKAMI, Yoshihiko, Hoshitango, Makoto Oishi and Kota Umeda

DDT’s first show of 2015 featured the annual New Year Team Challenge in front of a packed Korakuen Hall (all tickets for the event were priced at 2,000 yen which I think is around €14/$17/£11). Danshoku Dino and Michael Nakazawa each captained a team and points were on offer for every match and challenge. Wins were worth 30 points and draws were worth 10 points. Keisuke Ishii was ill with a fever so Shuji Ishikawa took his spot in the Dino Army.

34-tag-match

The main event was a five match series. Nakazawa’s team racked the most wins and at the end it looked like his team won the challenge. However as is tradition at this show an impromptu 34-Man Tag Team match took place with 500 points on the line. Everywhere you looked in the arena, DDT wrestlers were fighting each other. Kazuki Hirata stayed inside the ring to dance while chaos was happening around him. Nakazawa was in danger of losing when Kota Ibushi threw him like a javelin into the turnbuckles. But Nakazawa dodged the Diving Fist Drop from Antonio Honda and gave him the Ultimate Venom Arm for the ultimate victory. Nakazawa’s prize for winning the competition was 200 tickets for “SAITAMA SUPER DDT 2015”. He was told to sell them all when he moves to Singapore. Dino then invited Nakazawa’s wife Keiko Nakazawa into the ring. Michael said they will go to Singapore together but Keiko said she wouldn’t. She wished him luck and left the ring.

storm-brahmans

The new but probably not improved Golden☆Storm Riders failed to win the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles from Gorgeous Matsuno & the Brahman Brothers. Matsuno and Ibushi brawled around Korakuen Hall and at one point Ibushi tried to throw Matsuno over the balcony! The rookie Suguru Miyatake took the pin when he was accidentaly blinded with black ink spat out by his partners. Shuten-dōji were announced as the next challengers and will get their title shot at Saitama Super Arena.

sasadango-ackah

Super Sasadango Machine brought along a doppelgänger for his tag match against Sanshiro Takagi & Toru Owashi. Takagi unmasked Machine No. 2 and it turned out to be Bernard Ackah, as if it wasn’t obvious before. After the match Takagi asked Ackah why is he still hanging around? Does he want to be a pro wrestler? Ackah cried and admitted he wants to do pro wrestling. Takagi told Ackah he will get to wrestle at Saitama Super Arena.

kong-akai

The Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title changed hands when Saki Akai pinned Yoshihiko in a 6-Man Tag match. Yoshihiko gave Akai the Hurricanrana for what looked to be the finish but Akai rolled him over with a Sunset Flip for the surprise three count. Akai’s celebration was cut short when Aja Kong attacked her from out of nowhere and hit the Brainbuster to win the title. Kong mocked Akai for winning the Best Rookie Award from Tokyo Sports. She then said she will be at Saitama Super Arena with the belt and will wait for anyone to come and get it.

Soma Takao came out to a new original entrance song.

Three extra challenges took place away from the ring. First, Dino and Nakazawa had a Karaoke Challenge. Nakazawa sang “Babe” and Dino sang “Scorpio Woman”. Dino scored more points but Amon Tsurumi decided to take part and sang “Broken Over The Radio”. His performance was so bad Dino forfeited the game. Second challenge was a quiz between Shigehiro Irie and Saki Akai. Both only got one answer correct so it was a draw. The third challenge was a penalty shootout between Happy Motels and Smile Squash. Happy Motels won it two goals to one.

DDT’s second Korakuen show in January takes place on the 25th. Akito will defend the DDT Extreme Title against Makoto Oishi. The main event will be a special preview of the two big matches taking place at “SAITAMA SUPER DDT 2015”. The KO-D Openweight and Tag Team Champions will team together against their challengers. HARASHIMA, Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo Vs Kota Ibushi, Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi!

The next Infomercial Match will take place on 18th January and will promote Pu Joshi Hyaku Kei, a book featuring illustrations of schoolgirls performing wrestling moves. Since the cover shows the Cactus Flower in action, Makoto Oishi & Shiori Asahi will take part in the match. Their opponents will be announced soon. Oh and everybody in the match has to wrestle in schoolgirl costumes.

Keisuke Ishii is out of action with a high fever. He missed the New Year’s Eve show and also an AJPW Jr. Title match that was due to take place in All Japan today. DDT is currently searching for someone to replace his spot in Danshoku Dino’s team.
