2. The World’s Most Powerful Cultural Heaven Olympics – Round 1: Sambo Oishi defeated Gota Ihashi when Oishi hit Ihashi with a Nihon University newspaper (6:24).
3. The World’s Most Powerful Cultural Heaven Olympics – Round 1: Masa Takanashi defeated Choun-Shiryu by DQ when Yusuke Kubo attacked Takanashi (3:59).
4. Turn Based Wrestling ~Endless Gig~: Danshoku Dino defeated Ken Ohka with the Beer Garden Danshoku Driver (18:35).
5. The Lamentations Of The 40 Year Old Wrestler – Enter Sandman 11 Way Falls Count Anywhere Match: Ken Ohka defeated Super Sasadango Machine, KUDO, Seiya Morohashi, Antonio Honda, Danshoku Dino, Yasu Urano, Tomomitsu Matsunaga, Soma Takao, Makoto Oishi and Gota Ihashi when Ohka pinned Dino with the Spear Of Flame (18:14).

Danshoku Dino and Super Sasadango Machine had a plan in mind going into their Beer Garden show. They wanted Ken Ohka to join them and go after the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles at Sumo Hall later this month. Ohka refused because DDT is Ganbare☆Wrestling’s enemy and he won’t team with any DDT wrestlers. Ohka stayed for the main event, an out of control 11 Way Falls Count Anywhere match with “Enter Sandman” playing throughout the entire match. Sasadango wrestled without his mask but had he face painted to look like the mask. Ohka capitalised by getting rid of KUDO after KUDO hit the Diving Double Knee Drop on Dino. Ohka then hit the Spear Of Flame to win. After the match he had a change of heart and accepted the offer to team with Dino & Sasadango.

In the semi-main event Dino could only win the match when a Tomoyasu Hotei played over the speakers. Ohka could only win during a B’z song. The fight went out to the parking lot where Ohka gave Dino a Brainbuster onto the pavement. As the two fought during Hotei’s “Be My Baby” Dino smashed Ohka in the head with a can of beer and hit the Danshoku Driver for the three count.

A cultural Mixed Martial Arts tournament filled up the undercard. Sambo Oishi represented newspapers, Gota Ihashi fought for pottery, Masa Takanashi supported games of Shogi and Yusuke Kubo came as a former student council president. Oishi beat Ihashi by blasting him with a loaded university newspaper. Before the next match began Choun-Shiryu ambushed Kubo with a baseball bat. Shiryu took Kubo’s place in the match arrived as a rakugo storyteller. Kubo returned with the bat and swung at Shiryu but hit Takanashi by accident instead. Yukinori Matsui still declared Takanashi the winner by disqualification. However Takanashi was in no condition to continue the tournament so Shiryu qualified by default. It was announced the final between Oishi and Shiryu will take place during next year’s Beer Garden series.

The 3 Way Match between Soma Takao, Yasu Urano and Tomomitsu Matsunaga had a weird set of rules involved. The match could only go on for three minutes at a time. When the time expired everyone had to go back to the locker room and wait until the following match ended before they could go back out and restart. The match wound up taking place out in the parking lot during Part 3. Takao was dunked into a rubbish bin by Urano and Matsunaga. It wasn’t until at the end of the show that Takao pinned Matsunaga to finally bring the match to an end. Even though the match took all night to finish, it only went on for 9:45 according to the official time keeping.

Kota Ibushi climbed into a truck parked near the ring and attempted to run over Antonio Honda & Konosuke Takeshita. He was stopped by his partner Suguru Miyatake and the referee Yukinori Matsui. So Ibushi climbed up the truck and Moonsaulted off it instead.

Danshoku Dino is now going by the name Danshoku Jinsei.

But when Dino found out he will be facing Jinsei Shinzaki next his calm demeanour began to fade and he was left shaking in fear. This will be the first big test of his pilgrimage.

*D4 for Gota Ihashi.
1. HARASHIMA, Akito & Yasu Urano defeated Kota Ibushi, Daisuke Sasaki & Suguru Miyatake when HARASHIMA pinned Miyatake with the Somato (18:39).
2. Danshoku Dino & DJ Nira defeated Sanshiro Takagi & MIKAMI when Dino pinned MIKAMI with the Nenbutsu Danshoku Driver (6:37).
3. Toru Owashi & Makoto Oishi defeated Kazusada Higuchi & Shunma Katsumata when Oishi pinned Katsumata with the Miracle Ecstasy (10:07).
4. Konosuke Takeshita defeated Kota Umeda with the 19 Years Old (13:23).
5. Antonio Honda & Tetsuya Endo defeated KUDO & Masa Takanashi when Honda pinned Takanashi with a Cradle (12:19).
6. Kazuki Hirata Tokyo GO Numbers Game – 2nd Round: Yukio Sakaguchi defeated Kazuki Hirata with a Skewered Jumping Knee (9:29).
7. Keisuke Ishii, Shigehiro Irie & Tomomitsu Matsunaga defeated Daisuke Sekimoto, Yuji Okabayashi & Kazuki Hashimoto when Irie pinned Hashimoto with the Beast Bomber (21:23).

The build-up over the KO-D Tag Team Titles is getting tense. Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie scored a victory over the champions with the help of Tomomitsu Matsunaga taking the place of an injured Soma Takao. Ishii & Irie praised the strength of Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi but they said they will absolutely take the belts from them. Okabayashi warned that the challengers will be crushed soon enough.

Yukio Sakaguchi wore the HIRATA GO glasses and used the power of the music to punch and kick Kazuki Hirata unconscious.

After Hiroshi Fukuda avoided a dark fate by winning the King Of Dark Title Match, Amon Tsurumi asked if he had gotten a chance to speak to Barack Obama about when to cash in his Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract. Fukuda said it is a sensitive issue and he will cash in at an appropriate time. So don’t miss it!

Turned out the appropriate time was halfway through the show. Fukuda declared his cash in and was ready for Kota Ibushi! Unfortunately Ibushi was no longer in the building. His match took place at the beginning of the show and he was allowed to leave early so he could prepare for his IWGP Heavyweight Title match in New Japan tomorrow. Fukuda asked who was more important, himself or AJ Styles? Tsurumi said probably Styles. Fukuda then claimed he will cash in his contract tomorrow after the New Japan show. He was told he can’t because DDT is not running any shows tomorrow. Fukuda gave up and asked when is the next DDT show taking place in or near Tokyo. That would be 19th April in Kasukabe Hall. Fukuda said that date will be hard for him to do but he did not rule it out.

Akito nominated Daisuke Sasaki as the No. 1 Contender for the DDT Extreme Title. Sasaki defeated Akito by submission when they last fought each other one on one. That only took place back in March. The rematch will take place on 19th April.

In the battle of the 19 year olds, Konosuke Takeshita pinned Kota Umeda with a Vertical Drop Brainbuster. To mark the occassion Takeshita’s Brainbuster will now be called the 19 Years Old much like how Genichiro Tenryu named his Brainbuster the 53 Years Old.

Danshoku Dino channelled the spirit of Jinsei Shinzaki for his tag match. He wore a similar pilgrim costume and performed a couple of Shinzaki’s taunts and spots including the rope walk.

One day before his IWGP Title Match, Kota Ibushi sent a message to AJ Styles by using the Styles Clash… on his own tag team partner? Ibushi came up with the bright idea of turning the Styles Clash into a double team move, doing it to Suguru Miyatake on top of HARASHIMA. However HARASHIMA recovered and hit the Somato on Miyatake to win the match for Smile Squash. HARASHIMA wished Ibushi luck for tomorrow and to be ready for their KO-D Openweight Title match on 29th April.

Danshoku Dino Army

Antonio Honda, Konosuke Takeshita, Tetsuya Endo, Gorgeous Matsuno, Brahman Shu, Brahman Kei, Shuji Ishikawa, Shigehiro Irie, Soma Takao, Sanshiro Takagi, Toru Owashi, Kazuki Hirata, MIKAMI, Yoshihiko, Hoshitango, Makoto Oishi and Kota Umeda

Michael Nakazawa Army

Michael Nakazawa, HARASHIMA, Yasu Urano, Akito, Kota Ibushi, Daisuke Sasaki, Suguru Miyatake, KUDO, Yukio Sakaguchi, Masa Takanashi, Tomomitsu Matsunaga, Bernard Ackah, Super Sasadango Machine, Saki Akai, DJ Nira, Shunma Katsumata and Gota Ihashi

DDT’s first show of 2015 featured the annual New Year Team Challenge in front of a packed Korakuen Hall (all tickets for the event were priced at 2,000 yen which I think is around €14/$17/£11). Danshoku Dino and Michael Nakazawa each captained a team and points were on offer for every match and challenge. Wins were worth 30 points and draws were worth 10 points. Keisuke Ishii was ill with a fever so Shuji Ishikawa took his spot in the Dino Army.

34-tag-match

The main event was a five match series. Nakazawa’s team racked the most wins and at the end it looked like his team won the challenge. However as is tradition at this show an impromptu 34-Man Tag Team match took place with 500 points on the line. Everywhere you looked in the arena, DDT wrestlers were fighting each other. Kazuki Hirata stayed inside the ring to dance while chaos was happening around him. Nakazawa was in danger of losing when Kota Ibushi threw him like a javelin into the turnbuckles. But Nakazawa dodged the Diving Fist Drop from Antonio Honda and gave him the Ultimate Venom Arm for the ultimate victory. Nakazawa’s prize for winning the competition was 200 tickets for “SAITAMA SUPER DDT 2015”. He was told to sell them all when he moves to Singapore. Dino then invited Nakazawa’s wife Keiko Nakazawa into the ring. Michael said they will go to Singapore together but Keiko said she wouldn’t. She wished him luck and left the ring.

storm-brahmans

The new but probably not improved Golden☆Storm Riders failed to win the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles from Gorgeous Matsuno & the Brahman Brothers. Matsuno and Ibushi brawled around Korakuen Hall and at one point Ibushi tried to throw Matsuno over the balcony! The rookie Suguru Miyatake took the pin when he was accidentaly blinded with black ink spat out by his partners. Shuten-dōji were announced as the next challengers and will get their title shot at Saitama Super Arena.

sasadango-ackah

Super Sasadango Machine brought along a doppelgänger for his tag match against Sanshiro Takagi & Toru Owashi. Takagi unmasked Machine No. 2 and it turned out to be Bernard Ackah, as if it wasn’t obvious before. After the match Takagi asked Ackah why is he still hanging around? Does he want to be a pro wrestler? Ackah cried and admitted he wants to do pro wrestling. Takagi told Ackah he will get to wrestle at Saitama Super Arena.

kong-akai

The Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title changed hands when Saki Akai pinned Yoshihiko in a 6-Man Tag match. Yoshihiko gave Akai the Hurricanrana for what looked to be the finish but Akai rolled him over with a Sunset Flip for the surprise three count. Akai’s celebration was cut short when Aja Kong attacked her from out of nowhere and hit the Brainbuster to win the title. Kong mocked Akai for winning the Best Rookie Award from Tokyo Sports. She then said she will be at Saitama Super Arena with the belt and will wait for anyone to come and get it.

Soma Takao came out to a new original entrance song.

Three extra challenges took place away from the ring. First, Dino and Nakazawa had a Karaoke Challenge. Nakazawa sang “Babe” and Dino sang “Scorpio Woman”. Dino scored more points but Amon Tsurumi decided to take part and sang “Broken Over The Radio”. His performance was so bad Dino forfeited the game. Second challenge was a quiz between Shigehiro Irie and Saki Akai. Both only got one answer correct so it was a draw. The third challenge was a penalty shootout between Happy Motels and Smile Squash. Happy Motels won it two goals to one.

DDT’s second Korakuen show in January takes place on the 25th. Akito will defend the DDT Extreme Title against Makoto Oishi. The main event will be a special preview of the two big matches taking place at “SAITAMA SUPER DDT 2015”. The KO-D Openweight and Tag Team Champions will team together against their challengers. HARASHIMA, Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo Vs Kota Ibushi, Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi!

The next Infomercial Match will take place on 18th January and will promote Pu Joshi Hyaku Kei, a book featuring illustrations of schoolgirls performing wrestling moves. Since the cover shows the Cactus Flower in action, Makoto Oishi & Shiori Asahi will take part in the match. Their opponents will be announced soon. Oh and everybody in the match has to wrestle in schoolgirl costumes.

Danshoku Dino is out of action with a herniated disc and is not scheduled to come back until 2015. Unfortunately that means Dino won’t be able to team with Big Japan’s Daisuke Sekimoto in the New Year’s Eve tag tournament. Antonio Honda was chosen to take Dino’s place in the team.

First and second round matches have a 10 minute time limit, the semi-finals have a 15 minute time limit and the final has no time limit. Overtime uses one count pinfall rules. The semi-final pairings will be decided with a lottery.

4. DDT Extreme Title – Idol Lumberjack Match: Danshoku Dino (w/ Yoshiko) defeated Makoto Oishi (c) (w/ Sizukaze & Kizuna) with the Danshoku Driver (9:08).
*Makoto Oishi fails in V1. Danshoku Dino becomes the 29th DDT Extreme Champion!
5. KUDO & Yukio Sakaguchi defeated Michael Nakazawa & Tomomitsu Matsunaga when KUDP pinned Matsunaga with the Diving Double Knee Drop (12:21).
6. Infomercial Match – Best Stretch Edition: Super Sasadango Machine & Tetsuya Endo defeated Sanshiro Takagi & Kazuki Hirata & when Machine pinned Hirata with the Vertical Drop Lehman Shock (10:31)
7. Keisuke Ishii, Shigehiro Irie & Soma Takao defeated HARASHIMA, Yasu Urano & Akito when Soma pinned Akito with the Gin And Tonic (15:06).

The Idol Lumberjack Deathmatch was the most notable event on today’s show. Makoto Oishi put his DDT Extreme Title on the line and had the idol group Sizukaze & Kizuna by his side. Danshoku Dino countered by bringing in Stardom wrestler Yoshiko to be his lumberjack. While Oishi’s idols attacked Dino with plastic hammers whenever he was knocked out of the ring, Yoshiko got more involved by dropping Sentons onto Oishi whenever he was laid out on the floor. Both Yoshiko and the idols also attacked the wrestlers inside the ring when the referee was wiped out by Dino’s Lip Lock. After the ref recovered Oishi took control until Yoshiko knocked him off the top turnbuckle with a thrown chair. Oishi grabbed the mic and yelled at Yoshiko for being an ugly female wrestler. The girls from Sizukaze & Kizuna got mad at Oishi for his behaviour and turned on him. All of the lumberjacks beat up Oishi and pretty much handed Dino the win, making him a 7 time DDT Extreme Champion. After the match Oishi begged Yoshiko and the idols for forgiveness. They did and everybody then danced.

Team Dream Futures will be keeping a close eye on tomorrow’s KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Title match. Soma Takao noted that DDT now has many different units on their roster but Drift is the team that wants the 6-Man Title the most.

The Infomercial Match promoted DDT’s Best Stretch parlour and started off as Sanshiro Takagi & Super Sasadango Machine Vs Kazuki Hirata & Tetsuya Endo. The match consisted of everyone giving each other stretching exercises instead of wrestling moves and at some point changed into Takagi & Hirata Vs Machine & Endo. Machine pinned Hirata with the Lehman Shock and afterwards credited the stretching exercises for improving his finishing move by 35%.

Shun Miyatake (Trainee) appeared at the beginning of the show to give an update of his status since it has been a while since he had a match. Miyatake said he broke his leg six months ago and last month had surgery to remove the plate and bolts from his foot so he needed time off to rest. Amon Tsurumi didn’t believe him. Miyatake then said he was able to train during his absence but wound up injuring his hip from lifting 180kg weights. He also fractured his fourth lumbar vertebrae. Tsurumi had enough of Miytake’s lies and said he will never debut now because his injuries would take hundreds of years to heal! Miyatake said he heals fast and will be back around October or November.

7. DDT Extreme Title – New York Rules: Danshoku Dino defeated HARASHIMA (c) with a Kissing Pin (12:05).
*HARASHIMA fails in V5. Danshoku Dino becomes the 26th DDT Extreme Champion!

Very few men can beat Danshoku Dino in a kissing contest. HARASHIMA found that out the hard way. The two fought in a New York Rules match for the DDT Extreme Title. In order to win you had to kiss your opponent as you pin them for the entire three seconds. HARASHIMA trained as much as he could but when it came to actually kissing Dino in the match, he couldn’t find the courage to do it. This came to be his downfall as he had victory in his hands when he flattened Dino with the Somato. But when HARASHIMA finally had to courage to do the kiss, Dino had enough time to recover and roll the champion into a Kissing Small Package for the three count! Dino now holds the Extreme Title for the sixth time in the title’s history.

Masa Takanashi has a new diet to make himself strong. He will go around Japan drinking the best liquor the country has to offer and that will somehow help him become the KO-D Openweight Champion. Bottoms up.

Trouble just seem to have a habit of finding Yukio Sakaguchi lately. After spending a month getting in fights with KUDO, trouble now seems to be brewing between Sakaguchi and Shigehiro Irie. The two came close to blows after Sakaguchi submitted Soma Takao in their tag team match.

The ring truck parked inside the building was featured in the 4 Way Match. Kota Ibushi tried to reverse the truck over Michael Nakazawa and also Moonsaulted off the truck onto everyone else.

This time around it was Antonio Honda who requested for Lucha Libre rules against Sanshiro Takagi’s team. Unfortunately the Monster Army’s record in Lucha Libre continues to be poor as Takagi avoided the Diving Fist Drop and pinned Honda with La Magistral Cradle. Toru Owashi told the fans afterwards that they will do more and more Lucha Libre matches around Japan. Viva Mexico!

Gota Ihashi replaced Guanchulo in the opener because of an injury Guanchulo suffered during training a few days ago.

1. DDT Extreme Title – New York Rules: HARASHIMA (c) Vs Danshoku Dino

Much like the KO-D Openweight Division, there has not been a strong contender for the DDT Extreme Title lately. Danshoku Dino stepped up and challenged HARASHIMA for a title shot in his home prefecture of Hiroshima. Dino wants the match to be under New York Rules, an idea he got when he wrestled MEN’S Teioh back in 2007. Under New York Rules you must kiss your opponent while pinning him to win. HARASHIMA accepted the rules and said he will go through special training for the match. He will go into the woods to search for a hibernating bear to kiss. He will then build a snowman and use that for more intense kissing training. When he watched Dino wrestle MEN’S Teioh all those years ago, he felt a chill down his spine. But he knows he cannot back down now and will train hard to beat Dino.

package-for-amon

During the announcement of the match, a courier approached Amon Tsurumi claiming to have a package he needed to sign for. But just when Tsurumi was about to sign it, HARASHIMA noticed something was wrong and took the piece of paper from him. The paper turned out to be a contract for the HARASHIMA Vs Masa Takanashi KO-D Openweight Title match on 23rd February. According to the contract, the match would be fought under handicap rules with HARASHIMA needing to pin Takanashi for five seconds to win while Takanashi would only need to pin HARASHIMA for one second. Tsurumi caught the courier and she was revealed to be Sayaka Obihiro!

Takanashi entered the room to rescue his friend while Tsurumi yelled at him for trying to trick him into signing another contract. But Takanashi had a backup plan, he had the key for DDT’s ring truck! Tsurumi began to panic and asked if Takanashi was going to sell off the truck, the ring, the sound system or even the chairs. Takanashi said he was found something more important than any of those things, the championship belts! He was going to steal the belts and become champion without having to fight anybody. Takanashi began taunting Tsurumi until HARASHIMA simply grabbed the keys and gave them back to Daisuke Kiso, who explained they were stolen from him while he was stuck in Yokohama yesterday. Their plan foiled, Takanashi and Obihiro needed a distraction so Obihiro bit her tongue and Takanashi yelled for an ambulance as they fled.

5. Clash At Last! Sudden Realisation Of The Forbiddon: Keizo Matsuda defeated Danshoku Dino with a Tombstone Piledriver (9:36).
6. Value Of Man Is Not A Plane! BOYZ Vs YaroZ: Sanshiro Takagi, Toru Owashi & Shigehiro Irie defeated HARASHIMA, Makoto Oishi & Tetsuya Endo when Irie pinned Oishi with the Flying Sausage (17:29).

Turns out I was using a non-vulgar translation of the show name and this show was indeed vulgar. AssholeZ it is, then.

Tomomitsu Matsunaga and Amon Tsurumi were originally supposed to host the show but they were mysteriously absent. Taking their place were guest MCs Brother Tommy and Brother Mon. They explained this was a show for bastards, by bastards. They wanted to encourage everyone wrestling to unleash their inner bastard just for today.

The main event saw Team YaroZ facing Team BOYZ with the latter being uncomfortable with the surroundings. Makoto Oishi complained about a stinking smell coming from the audience. He also called his opponents ugly, fat and old. Shigehiro Irie was very upset at being called old. He got his revenge by pinning Oishi with the Flying Sausage.

Keizo Matsuda discovered his Danshoku side during his victory over Danshoku Dino. While at first overpowered by his opponent, Matsuda pulled down his tights to reveal he was wearing Danshoku tights underneath. He then used his newly found Danshoku ability to Lip Lock Dino and then pin him with the Tombstone. After the match Matsuda got his hands on some fans in the front row. He and Dino then did a Danshoku version of the Steiner Brothers pose on the stage. Brother Mon called it the birth of the Japanese Steiner Brothers.

The boxing match between Gota Ihashi and Kengo Mashimo was set for 45 one minute rounds with Yuzuki Aikawa providing some bouncy eye candy as the round girl. Aikawa however appeared in her regular everyday clothing because she had other things to do today. Ihashi and Mashimo had a slugfest but everybody noticed that everytime a round ended, Aikawa would remove a piece of clothing before holding the next round card. So Yukinori Matsui did everything he could to make sure the match continued even though Ihashi and Mashimo were beating the tar out of each other. At the end of the third round Aikawa promised to reveal her swimsuit if the fight made it to Round 5. Mashimo knocked out Ihashi in the 4th Round but Matsui counted as slowly as he could. Mashimo got sick of the stalling and said he was going home. With Mashimo leaving and Ihashi still unconcious, Brother Mon had no other choice but to call off the match. The arena broke out into chaos until Aikawa decided to strip down to her Stars & Stripes swimsuit much to the excitement of every man in the building.

Both Shuji Ishikawa and Kankuro Hoshino wrestled their hardcore match wearing fundoshi instead of their usual gear.

The Embarrassment Match involved Antonio Honda, Seiya Morohashi and Misaki Ohata trying to humiliate each other to win. The first person to make another wrestler yell “I’m embarrassed!” would be crowned the winner. At first they all tried to strip each other but soon Honda brought in a whip. Ohata got rid of Honda and whipped Morohashi’s bare backside enough to make him say he was embarrassed. Brother Tommy said afterwards that it was a terrible match.
