One day after HARASHIMA defended the KO-D Openweight Title against Keisuke Ishii, the tables were turned. Team Dream Futures kept the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles away from Smile Squash. Now that Squash is no longer in title contention, things may cool down between Yasu Urano and Shigehiro Irie. Drift’s next title defence will be against T2Hide at the 28th September Korakuen Hall show.

HARASHIMA’s dominance continues. The KO-D Openweight Champion defeated Keisuke Ishii in Osaka to mark his 4th successful defence of the belt (and his 10th in the space of a year). Ishii got his title shot after winning a young wrestlers tournament intended to promote new blood for the title chase. HARASHIMA admitted he did not expect Ishii to have improved to the level he was but HARASHIMA was still stronger. The champ’s next defence will be in Korakuen Hall on 26th October against the runner up of the DDT Dramatic General Election. HARASHIMA doesn’t mind who it is as long as he finishes the election in first place. If he finishes second he gets to choose his challenger.

The last match in Kota Ibushi’s 10th anniversary celebration finally took place. Ibushi teamed with Kenny Omega to take on Michael Nakazawa and Yoshihiko who transformed into Ibushihiko for the occasion. Nakazawa congratulated Ibushi on his 10 years in wrestling but pointed out that he’s been through so many injuries that he’s really only been wrestling for around 8 years. Nakazawa then said Ibushihiko is the one who should have the double contract with DDT and New Japan. During the match, Ibushihiko was thrown on top of a nearby basketball hoop by Omega.

Danshoku Dino Vs Zeus for the DDT Extreme Title was fought in a Kiss Pin Match where a pin or submission would only count if the wrestlers were kissing each other as it happened. Surprisingly Zeus was not fazed at all when the rules were explained to him. Dino needed all the help he could get from Makoto Oishi and Shunma Katsumata. His two cornermen interfered in the match but were both overpowered by Zeus. The challenger even threatened to kiss the referee! Sino then summoned Shun Miyatake (Trainee) to help him and eventually the distractions were enough for Dino to pin Zeus with a kiss. After the match Zeus linked arms with Yukinori Matsui and said “a nice couple is born in Osaka!”

Tetsuya Endo scored the upset pin on KUDO to win himself and Konosuke Takeshita a KO-D Tag Team Title shot on 28th September. Later in the show Takeshita & Endo confronted the Golden Lovers to confirm the match. Endo spoke about his match with Kenny Omega during Beer Garden Week and also the 30 minute draw between both teams that took place back in January. Omeg said the Golden Lovers would have won in the 31st minute if the match continued. He also said if Endo scored 110 points with his best effort then he would need to score more than 150 points to succeed. He then asked Tsurumi to give the title match a 60 minute time limit to make sure another draw won’t happen.

Kazuki Hirata appealed for T2Hide to get a KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Title shot after they won the opening match. Amon Tsurumi said he would positively consider it.

Next year’s big show in Saitama Super Arena will be called “SAITAMA SUPER DDT 2015”.

There are two stories revolving around the main event of this show. First is the rivalry brewing between HARASHIMA and Keisuke Ishii. This show takes place a day after the KO-D Openweight Title match between the two wrestlers. The second is Shigehiro Irie and Yasu Urano feuding over the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles. Urano has twice attempted to steal Irie’s title belt after matches involving the two. Now he has a chance to get that belt through proper means.

HARASHIMA and Keisuke Ishii had a staredown after the main event but that was interrupted by a brawl outside the ring between Yasu Urano and Shigehiro Irie. Urano tried to steal Irie’s KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Title belt again.

In a week’s time Happy Motel and Shuten-dōji will collide over the No. 1 Contendership for the KO-D Tag Team Titles. Today the two teams were split off into two singles matches. Masa Takanashi beat Konosuke Takeshita with a flash pin, teaching a valuable lesson to the youngster to never keep his guard down. Takanashi’s tag partner KUDO went to much harsher measures to defeat Tetsuya Endo, knocking him out with a Back Spin Kick. After the two matches were over, Takanashi bragged that he and KUDO are stronger and the rookies don’t look like they are the future of DDT. KUDO said he was going to drink some delicious sake to celebrate his win today.

Van Vert Jack betrayed Van Vert Negro and his team by revealing he was wearing Danshoku tights beneath his clothes. He then Hip Thrusted Negro into the corner post, leaving him vulnerable for Danshoku Dino to deliver the Danshoku Driver. Van Vert Jack is Van Vert Negro’s 9 year old son by the way.

The next challenger for the KO-D Openweight Title has been decided. Keisuke Ishii defeated Tetsuya Endo in the final of the Young Wrestler Tournament. Ishii had been saying he was statisticly the favourite to win the tournament and he was proven right. However, Ishii’s stats against the champion HARASHIMA are not so good. He waves this off and says he does not care because he has gained a lot of experience and is now confident he can win the title.

Kota Ibushi dropped Gota Ihashi right on his head for the finish of the semi-main event. The match celebrated Ibushi’s 10 years in wrestling but was constantly delayed due to injuries to Ibushi and original participant Taiji Ishimori. The match finally happened today with HARASHIMA in Ishimori’s place. Tsurumi Amon was worried that Ibushi didn’t like the match but Ibushi said it was fun. The Combat Bike from Sumo Hall was used here, Konosuke Takeshita used it to run over Ihashi outside the ring.

Smile Squash scored an upset victory over Team Dream Futures. Tension is building between the two sides when Akito & Yasu Urano attempted to steal Drift’s KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles after the match. An angry Shigehiro Irie was able to stop them from doing so.

DJ Nira won a match! In a result that came out of nowhere, Nira tricked Daisuke Sasaki into letting go of the Crossface Lock and then pinned him with a modified La Magistral Cradle. Earlier in the match Sasaki had Nira trapped in the Crossface Lock but rather than tapping out, Nira instead Rocket Punched the referee.

In Match #3 Antonio Honda stole Kazuki Hirata’s  Magnum HIRATA mask from him and even danced to “Tokyo Go” before hitting the Diving Fist Drop to win.

Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega Vs Michael Nakazawa & Yoshihiko will take place in Osaka on 13th September as part of Ibushi’s 10th Anniversary celebration.

Shun Miyatake (Trainee) announced that he is scheduled to return from injury in October.

Not only is the main event death match going to involved Barbed Wire Boards but every wrestler involved in the match will bring their own personal weapon with them too. I know Mio Shirai has been using a Signal Wand in her Pro Wrestling WAVE matches lately but that seems a bit tame for a match like this.

1. KUDO, Yukio Sakaguchi & Masa Takanashi defeated Michael Nakazawa, Tomomitsu Matsunaga & Gota Ihashi when KUDO pinned Ihashi with the Diving Double Knee Drop (10:12).
2. 3 Way Match: Antonio Honda defeated Daisuke Sasaki and MIKAMI when Honda pinned Sasaki with a German Suplex (7:57).
3. HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano defeated Toru Owashi & DJ Nira when HARASHIMA pinned Nira with a Cradle (8:00).
4. Infomercial Match: Danshoku Dino, Makoto Oishi & Ito Maki defeated Sanshiro Takagi, Kazuki Hirata & Saki Akai when Maki pinned Hirata with the Idol Clutch (10:24).
5. KO-D Openweight Title Challenger Tournament – Semi Final: Keisuke Ishii defeated Akito with the High Angle Double Arm DDT (13:17).
6. KO-D Openweight Title Challenger Tournament – Semi Final: Tetsuya Endo defeated Konosuke Takeshita with the Sky Twister Press (15:41).
7. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega (c) defeated Shigehiro Irie & Soma Takao when Ibushi pinned Takao after the PK Mind (16:53).
*V6 for the Golden Lovers.

With Sumo Hall out of the way and Super Saitama Arena far off in the horizon it is back to business as usual for DDT. Fresh off of winning the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles, today Team Dream Futures went after the KO-D Tag Team Titles. But the Golden Lovers were not going to let go of their belts so easily. Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega secured another successful defence of the title when they pinned Soma Takao with the PK Mind. They now want to have their next defence at Korakuen Hall. In a backstage interview Kenny said the Golden Lovers are an S-Rank tag team. He his happy to be with Ibushi not just for the fans but for their friendship too. He even said if he was gay he would want to marry Ibushi. He asked Kota if he felt the same and Kota answered “Of course!”

The other highlights of the day centred around the KO-D Openweight Title No. 1 Contender tournament. Keisuke Ishii defeated Akito and Tetsuya Endo defeated Konosuke Takeshita to advance to the finals. The latter result is a surprise and shows that Endo is not to be overlooked when it comes to discussing about DDT’s future prospects. Ishii bragged about the statistics being in his favour for the final since nobody in this tournament has ever beaten him in a singles match. Endo told him he has the momentum and he will become KO-D Champion.

Retired All Japan whipping boy Nobutaka Araya was in attendance and even got involved in the Smile Squash Vs Toru Owashi & DJ Nira match. Nira gave him the Rocket Punch and HARASHIMA capitalised on the distraction to roll up Nira for the win. I’m not sure if they played Araya’s sad song for him after the match.

Up Up Girls singer Ito Maki wrestled in the Infomercial Match. Makoto Oishi was happy to team with her but their opponent Sanshiro Takagi claimed Saki Akai is the cuter idol. Maki had the last laugh when she spat Poison Mist into Kazuki Hirata’s face and, after Oishi’s Miracle Ecstasy, pinned him with the Idol Clutch.

Antonio Honda and Daisuke Sasaki both wrestled in bras during their 3-Way match with MIKAMI.

Zeus will come in to challenge Danshoku Dino for the DDT Extreme Title in Osaka on 13th September.

Hiroyo Matsumoto has pulled out of the show due to injury. Kaori Yoneyama takes her place and faces Emi Tomimatsu from Paraestra Matsudo.

With “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2014” in the bag it is time to look ahead for DDT’s future. A mini tournament for DDT’s young wrestlers is going ahead to determine the No. 1 Contender for the KO-D Openweight Title. The semi finals take place in Kasukabe Hall when Tetsuya Endo faces Konosuke Takeshita and Keisuke Ishii faces Akito. The two winners will take part in the final on 31st August in Shinjuku. The KO-D Title match will happen in Osaka on 13th September.

Ishii counts himself as the favourite. He is unbeaten against both Akito and Endo in singles matches. He has never faced Takeshita one on one. Regardless, Ishii is so confident he will win that he wonders why there is even a tournament to determine the next title challenger when it should be him. Takeshita felt he learned a lot from wrestling Hiroshi Tanahashi. He hopes to win the tournament so he can have the title match with HARASHIMA in front of his home town Osaka crowd.

HARASHIMA’s comments coming out of the Sumo Hall main event are about what you’d expect to hear from him. His opponents were strong, he was glad he was able to win and he wants to be the defending champion again at next year’s show.

For now the Golden☆Lovers’ main priority is to keep the KO-D Tag Team Titles around their waists. Kenny Omega said he has no choice but to win at any cost to keep his title with Kota Ibushi. They defend the belts against two thirds of the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions. The Drift duo of Shigehiro Irie & Soma Takao challenged the Golden☆Lovers and it was accepted. With Ishii in the tournament and this title match happening soon, Drift are aiming to add the KO-D Openweight and Tag Team Titles to their collection. Kenny says he and Ibushi are an S-Rank team. Irie’s response is he and Takao are an A-Ranked team, then he got confused and corrected himself, calling him and Takao a T-Ranked team instead.

Former DDT wrestler Daichi Kakimoto is now with Union. Kakimoto wrestled in DDT from 2003 to 2008 when a cervical spine injury forced him into retirement. He returned to wrestling in 2012 and made sporadic appearances since then. He now wants to wrestle on a regular basis and signed with Union. He chose Union for two reasons. The first is Kakimoto being inspired by how much Shuji Ishikawa and Isami Kodaka have grown the last couple of years. The other reason is Union’s schedule is easy enough for his body and non-wrestling career to handle. Kakimoto also wants to re-debut under as a masked wrestler and will use a new ring name to represent how he is starting again from scratch. He hopes fans will not reveal his identity or update his Wikipedia page when he appears under the mask.
