5d. Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere 4: DJ Nira (19:34).
6. KO-D Openweight Title: Shigehiro Irie defeated Kenny Omega (c) with the Vertical Drop Back Flip (24:29).
*Kenny Omega fails in V4. Shigehiro Irie becomes the 45th KO-D Openweight Champion!

The torch has been passed, Shigehiro Irie is the first in his generation of DDT wrestlers to win the KO-D Openweight Title! Over the last two years, Irie has taken big steps towards the top beating such DDT and Union alumni like Kota Ibushi and Shuji Ishikawa. One person he could never get the best of was the champion Kenny Omega. Almost a year ago Irie went through rigorous weight loss training in order to wrestle Kenny for the AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Title. Today there was no weight limit handicapping the Teddy Bear. It wasn’t easy, Omega fought tooth and nail to keep his title but Irie’s heart was just that little bit bigger. A Vertical Drop Back Flip attempt was rearranged into a Thunder Fire Driver, knocking Omega silly and leaving him vulnerable to another Vertical Drop Back Flip. That one connected and three seconds later Irie was swamped by his Team Dream Future stablemates and handed the KO-D Title belt.

Irie couldn’t believe he won. He couldn’t believe he beat Kenny Omega. He thanked the audience for chanting his name and he thanked his friends for supporting him. Tsurumi Amon dampened the celebrations by telling Irie that there are now four wrestlers with Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere contracts and Keisuke Ishii is one of them. Ishii stepped in and said he won’t be cashing in his contract until the time was right for him and Irie. Sanshiro Takagi awkwardly congratulated Irie, clearly resisting temptation to cash in his contract there and then. Irie’s first challenger Yukio Sakaguchi appeared on the ring apron and simply stuck out his fist. Irie placed his elbow against the fist in response as if to say “Challenge accepted,”

The Royal Rumble Ladder match had 5 prizes in total on the line. Literally. Four envelopes hung from a cable above the ring. Two of the envelopes had a smiley face on them. The other two had the skull and bones symbol. It was up to the competitors to climb up ladders and fight amongst each other to reach them. When somebody pulled down an envelope they played no further part in the match. Meanwhile, Battle Royal rules were also in effect with the overall winner getting a KO-D Title shot on 13th April. Yukio Sakaguchi won the Battle Royal portion. With the title shot in his grasp, Sakaguchi now feels like he is part of the DDT family.

Sanshiro Takagi, Keisuke Ishii, HARASHIMA & DJ Nira were the four wrestlers who grabbed the envelopes. They were called into the ring after the match to open the envelopes and reveal their prizes. It turns out all four envelopes contained Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere contracts that allowed the holder to challenge the KO-D Champion to a title match at any DDT show from now until 3rd August. However, to even the playing field a new rule was added. The contracts can now change hands if the contract holder is pinned, submitted or knocked out at any wrestling show in Japan! Hiroshi Fukuda suddenly ambushed Takagi and pinned him with a School Boy but as he celebrated with Takagi’s contract, Tsurumi Amon told him the rule was not 24/7 and only comes into play during actual wrestling matches.

K-1 fighter Kizaemon Saiga had a successful debut in DDT teaming with his friend Kota Ibushi to defeat Yasu Urano & FUMA. They won by using a Doomsday Spinning Heel Kick with Saiga performing the kick. During the backstage interview afterwards Saiga said he had fun but was in a huge amount of pain. He hopes to do both MMA and wrestling. Ibushi was nervous for his friend but Saiga’s performance proved how compatible he is with pro wrestling. In regards to the Doomsday Kick, Saiga said it was the first time he ever did a Jumping Kick from that height. He called Ibushi his teacher and wants to fly and bounce around the ring like he does.

The 2013 King Of DDT tournament will begin at Shinjuku on 28th June. Round 2 will be held in Nagoya on 17th July. The semi-finals and final will take place in Umeda later that month. The winner will earn a KO-D Title shot at the 18/8 Sumo Hall show.

Danshoku Dino is getting his own show on DDT’s Nico Douga Channel. The show is called Danshoku Matchmaking. If this does not turn out to be DDT’s version of Blind Date with Dino playing the role of Cilla Black, I will be disappointed.

GANBARE☆WRESTLING “JUDGEMENT PRE-EVENT”, 06/03/2013
Nanhai Ichigaya Memorial Clinic

1. Yumehito Imanari Vs Osamu Namiguchi
2. Ken Ohka Vs Brian Cannon

Behold… another Goddamn DDT spin off! Ganbare☆Wrestling is the creation of Ken Ohka, the eternal Union young lion. After forcing himself out of his longtime home for suffering defeat in a Loser Leaves Town match, Ohka eventually found money to start his own wrestling company. He promoted Ganbare’s debut pre-event at the Shin-Kiba 1st RING parking lot today but was interrupted by Brian Cannon, formerly known as Dingo from Osaka Pro. Cannon confronted Ohka and told him he disgraced his hero Jushin Liger at Korakuen Hall years ago (they had a match once, it’s wasn’t great). Cannon took out a mannequin head wearing a Liger mask and attacked a photographer with it before getting into a scuffle with Ohka. Cannon demanded a match for the Ganbare show and told Ohka he wouldn’t get away with disgracing his hero.

Another match signed is part time wrestler and Golden Rendezvouz manager Yumehito Imanari versus Osamu Namiguchi, a failed trainee from Zero1.

Ohka has also gotten Batten Tamagawa involved with Ganpuro. Tamagawa will use the name Ganbare Tamagawa whenever he wrestles for Ohka’s brand.

KO-D Openweight Title – Last Man Standing Match: Kenny Omega (c) Vs Michael Nakazawa

The friendship between Kenny Omega and Michael Nakazawa has turned sour over the KO-D Championship. Omega offered Nakazawa the title shot in the hopes to show the world that his buddy can be a serious wrestler. Nakazawa accepted but kept to his sleazy ways, low blowing Kenny and embarrassing him at Korakuen Hall. Then yesterday at Shin-Kiba 1st RING, Nakazawa went through a gauntlet of 7 wrestlers to prepare himself. He lost to every single one of them. Then Kenny low blowed him partly for payback but also to try and convince Nakazawa to take their title match seriously. He’ll have to because this one match show on Thursday will be fought under Last Man Standing rules. DDT will be using the rule where you have to pin your opponent for the three count before the referee can begin counting to ten.

UNION “MARCH OF THE UNION 2013”, 10/03/2013
Yokohama Radiant Hall

1. Hiroshi Fukuda & Jun Kasai Vs Nazo Fukumen A & Nazo Fukumen B

Two mysteriously masked people have invaded Union. The anonymous man and woman are both being referred to as Nazo Fukumen. They kidnapped Jun Kasai and held him hostage at the end of “GOOD FORTUNE DEMONS 2013”. Their demand was to get booked in Union. Naomi Susan apparently recognises who they are and gave in to their demands without any resistance. The Nazo Fukumen are going to face Kasai and Hiroshi Fukuda in a tag team match.

Kengo Ohka, Madoka, Kaori Yoneyama & Gabaiji-chan will also appear on the show. Yoneyama is currently busy designing the brand new championship to be introduced into Union soon. Mitomi Masayuki was supposed to make his Union debut but that has been put off after he fractured his left ankle in a car accident. He will be out of action for at least the entire month of March.

6. KO-D Openweight Title: Kenny Omega (c) defeated HARASHIMA with the One-Winged Angel (20:24).
*V2 for Kenny Omega.

Kenny Omega requested a match against his good friend Michael Nakazawa. When Omega first came to Japan, Nakazawa was there for him and has been ever since. However, he doesn’t want to have a comedy match. He knows Nakazawa can make it to the next step and wants to give him one chance to prove it. Nakazawa thanked Omega for the opportunity, said he will be at 120% and will beat Omega.

KUDO achieved something rare today. He is one of the few wrestlers in Japan to win his first match back from an injury. He was rewarded with the MAGP Award from Tsurumi Amon. A tournament between all of the MAGP Award winners will take place in Shin-Kiba 1st RING on 24/2. KUDO will compete with Makoto Oishi, Yasu Urano and the next person to win the award.

Keisuke Ishii’s quest to discover what he is missing to be a complete pro wrestler has brought him face to face with Yoshihiko. The doll wrestled dressed in the AKB48 “Flying Get” costume. Since it has no hair, I’m guessing Yoshihiko was pretending to be Minami Minegishi, the AKB48 singer who controversially shaved her head as punishment for being caught spending the night with a male friend. Drift was able to beat The Golden Rendezvous with Ishii pinning Gota Ihashi. Afterwards Ishii demanded Yoshihiko to tell him what he was missing, but it stayed silent. Ishii then demanded Sanshiro Takagi to come out and tell him. Instead he got a video message from President Takagi telling him he was still a student and he needed to wrestle a teacher. That teacher is Tomoaki Honma! Ishii Vs Honma was made for the 24/2 Shin-Kiba show.

Jushin Liger had some pretty nasty things to say about DDT and their fans after he & Hiromu Takahashi beat Yukio Sakaguchi & Akito. Liger called all DDT fans rotten and then challenged Sakaguchi to a singles match anywhere, even in DDT if they have to. A voice in the crowd yelled at them to do the match now and Liger said he would, leading him and Takahashi to attack Sakaguchi and Akito and start a brawl between the four.

Toru Owashi has been welcomed back into DDT after his assessment match. Sanshiro Takagi wasn’t interested in being involved and gave his own partner Michael Nakazawa a Stunner when the match begun. Owashi pinned Nakazawa but Tsurumi Amon demanded the match to restart and pleaded with Takagi to take the match seriously. The rematch began and Takagi gave Nakazawa another Stunner. Nakazawa recovered and Takagi soon got involved in the match properly, using Nakazawa as a weapon on Ken Ohka to win the match. Takagi then accepted Owashi back into DDT. Ohka however was very upset. He resigned from Union and his loss here means he is not good enough for DDT. While Amon tried to console him, Ohka “found” an envelope in Amon’s pocket with 15,000 yen inside it. He decided to start his own wrestling promotion with blackjack and hookers! Takagi told Ohka how difficult it is to launch a promotion with only 15,000 yen but was so impressed with his passion that he allowed Ohka to take Amon’s money and go ahead with his plan.

A big name was announced for “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2013” on 18th August, the second of DDT’s two Sumo Hall shows. Kensuke Sasaki will be there!

One of my favorite matches in DDT will be brought back on 20th March, The Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract Battle Royal! Hikaru Sato also announced a one day grappling tournament will take place that same day.

Kazuki Hirata will return from injury on 20/3 for his first match since January of last year when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament.

Ken Ohka has jumped to DDT! He interrupted a meeting between Sanshiro Takagi and Toru Owashi earlier today that was done to create hype for the 2-on-1 Handicap match that will determine whether or not Owashi deserves a spot in DDT. Barely a day has past since Ohka forced himself to resign from Union after his defeat to Keisuke Ishii in a Loser Leaves Town match yet he claims “The Messiah” is already in hot demand from other promotions. Both Takagi and Owashi told Ohka if that is true then he should go away and join WWE or TNA. Tsurumi Amon decided to make things fair for Owashi and turn the Handicap match into a Tag Team match with Ohka as his teammate.

Some of the suggestions Omega and Morohashi came up with are a TLC match, a Falls Count Anywhere match, an ABC match (match can only be won with a move beginning with the letter A, B or C), a First Blood match, a Bodybuilding match, a Rock ‘N’ Roll Death Match and a Stretch Match (first person to stretch his opponent wins).

6. KO-D Openweight Title: Kenny Omega (c) Vs HARASHIMA

In a shocking term of events, a DDT Vs New Japan tag match has been made with Yukio Sakaguchi and Jushin Thunder Liger in opposite sides. The two faced each other in a 6 Man Tag main event at a Legend Pro-Wrestling show on 13th January and Liger criticised Sakaguchi’s performance after the match. Yukio, who represented his father Seiji Sakaguchi on the show will not stand for Liger’s harsh comments. Meanwhile, Tsurumi Amon sensed the opportunity to capitalize on the situation by using DDT’s relationship with New Japan to set up this tag team match which includes Akito and Hiromu Takahashi. Sakaguchi is ready to show Liger he is more than just Seiji Sakaguchi’s son and will show a more savage side when he steps into the ring.

Drift sent out a challenge to the Golden Rendezvous for a 6 Man Tag Team match. However Kenny Omega will be defending the KO-D Championship in the main event. So the Golden Orchid duo of Kota Ibushi & Gota Ihashi went in search of a third partner. Lo and behold they found the perfect choice, Yoshihiko!

KUDO will find himself in the ring with plenty of familiar faces in his first match back from injury. He has held the KO-D Tag Team Titles with both Yasu Urano and Makoto Oishi. He has also spent plenty of time in his career wrestling with and against Danshoku Dino.

Toru Owashi will have to go through a 2-on-1 Handicap Match to prove he is deserving of a full time spot in DDT.
