Whatever problems there were between HARASHIMA and Hiroshi Tanahashi is now all water under the bridge. The two faced off in a tag team match for the first time since August with HARASHIMA looking to redeem himself in front of the New Japan ace. HARASHIMA and Ken Ohka had the home field advantage with everyone in the audience chanting for DDT and booing the New Japan team. Tanahashi ignored HARASHIMA and instead glared at Ohka. Yohei Komatsu then attacked HARASHIMA to start the match. Tanahashi continued to get booed especially when he worked over Ohka. But Ohka caught Tanahashi off guard with the Kamikaze and made the hot tag to HARASHIMA. Ohka later helped HARASHIMA avoid a Superplex by grabbing Tanahashi’s leg as he stood on the turnbuckles. HARASHIMA then rocked Tanahashi with a Rock Punch during an Elbow Strike exchange. Ohka readied himself for the Spear Of Flame but Tanahashi stopped it and attacked Ohka’s legs with the Dragon Screw, a low Dropkick and a Texas Cloverleaf. Komatsu did his part and prevented HARASHIMA from breaking the hold yet Ohka was able to reach the ropes. The tables were turned when Tanahashi held Ohka in a Full Nelson and Komatsu charged in for a Clothesline. Ohka escaped and Tanahashi took the blow. HARASHIMA focused on Komatsu and hit the Falcon Arrow and a High Kick. He went for the Somato but Komatsu rolled out of the way. Tanahashi tried to get involved but Ohka of all people took him out with the Spear Of Flame! HARASHIMA flipped Komatsu over with the Reverse Frankensteiner and hit the Somato for the victory.

While Ohka and HARASHIMA celebrated, Tanahashi was quick to leave the ring. It looked like he was about to leave but he instead walked over to the timekeeper’s table and opened up a MacBook. “Although this is immediately after the match has ended, I want to start the presentation!” That’s right, Tanahashi was going to present everyone his very own Powerpoint presentation! Titled “How To Liven Up More Worlds Of Professional Wrestling” Tanahashi introduced himself as “New Japan flesh that has been carefully trained in the dojo.” He also revealed he got written permission from Super Sasadango Machine to do this.

tanahashi-powerpoint

Tanahashi wants to spice up pro wrestling and spoke about the famous Keiji Muto Vs Nobuhiko Takada match from 1995, a match that at the time featured the ace of New Japan against the ace of UWF-I in an exciting dream bout. Twenty years later Tanahashi wondered if he and HARASHIMA would be able to elicit the same kind of excitement and enthusiasm for their match this past August. Unfortunately that didn’t happen and Tanahashi let his emotions get the better of him in his post-match comments. He now apologises to HARASHIMA and encourages him to continue down the road as the ace of DDT. Going back to spicing up the wrestling world, Tanahashi had some announcements to make in regards to his 2016 plans. He will win the IWGP Heavyweight Title at the Tokyo Dome in January, he will win the G1 Climax in August, he will enter the 2016 DDT Dramatic General Election and he will also enter the unit portion of the election in order to win and book his own DDT show next November! Learning his lesson from last time, HARASHIMA did not try to shake hands with Tanahashi. Instead he stuck out his fist and Tanahashi gave him a fist bump in response. Tanahashi offered to fist bump Ohka but Ohka told him to headbutt him instead. They gently bumped their heads together, smiled and gave each other a nod before Tanahashi left. HARASHIMA admitted feeling a bit confused but thanked Ohka, Danshoku Dino and Muscle Sakai for doing everything they could to make the match happen. He also thanked New Japan, Tanahashi and Komatsu for accepting their request.

Today’s show booked by #OhkaEmpire was a throwback to the old Muscle shows. It couldn’t officially be labelled as such because the next Muscle show is not supposed to take place until 6th October 2030 at the Tokyo Dome. However Muscle Sakai saw that today was enough of a special occassion to re-enter the ring and wrestle Konosuke Takeshita. Sakai targeted Takeshita’s right arm and eventually hit three Lehmann Shocks. When he was about to do the third one the arena darkened, “Etupirika” started playing and everything slowed down. We could hear the voices of Sakai’s and Takeshita’s hearts speak while Sakai and Takeshita fought in slow motion. Takeshita slowly pinned Sakai with the German Suplex and the match ended. Sakai awarded him with a Money In The Back suitcase (that’s right, suitcase) that guarantees him a spot on the next Muscle show in 2030. Takeshita said he may be wrestling overseas for a major company by then but if that does happen he promises to travel back to Japan to be on the show.

The undercard featured a team challenge between the old and new generation of Muscle wrestlers. The Old Muscle team won the first match in a contest where only cradles, School Boys and other pin attempt moves were allowed. Choun-Shiryu & Pedro Takashi both revealed they were now insurance salesmen and they tricked their opponents to lie down on the canvas to sign a new insurance plan. They rolled them up for the three count. The New Muscle team won Match #2 which was a Best 2 out of 3 Falls match between Danshoku Dino & Antonio Honda against KAT-TOO. The New Muscle team won the first two falls back to back. The deciding contest was an arm wrestling contest between Muscle cameraman Kazunori Huzioka and comedian Ryota Yamazato. Huzioka won it for Old Muscle!

Ken Ohka returns to Union to team with Mio Shirai one more time before her retirement from pro wrestling.

There is going to be a Muscle Sakai II but who will it be, Hiroshi Fukuda or Super Sasadango Machine…? Something isn’t right about that. Muscle Sakai will present golden baggy pants to the winner. The baggy pants is necessary to identify Muscle Sakai II.

7. KO-D Openweight Title: Danshoku Dino (c) defeated Antonio Honda with the Gotch-Style Danshoku Driver (31:19).
*V1 for Danshoku Dino.

Right after Danshoku Dino defeated Antonio Honda in the main event, the champion called Hikaru Sato into the ring and asked if he wants to get the next KO-D Title shot. Dino told Sato “I want to do it with you”. Sato said he is not gay but he loves Danshoku Dino. They were then interrupted by the ghost of Muscle Sakai! The ghost announced that Muscle Sakai will return to wrestling for the DDT 15th Anniversary show in Budokan Hall! However, his return will be in the dark match for the event.

Kenny Omega was upset over losing in the semi-main event. He told the audience that DDT is his family and he wants to defend his AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Title in the company again. However, his next defence has already been set in All Japan. He will take on Shuji Kondo on 20th March. Shigehiro Irie then entered the ring and asked Kenny if he could challenge him for the belt on 11th March when DDT returns to Korakuen Hall. When asked how much he weighs, Irie said “I am 115kg.” Kenny asked him again. Irie then said “I am 110kg”. Tsurumi Amon stepped in to make his decision. If Irie drops 10kg in weight then Amon will try to negotiate with All Japan to set up a Jr. Heavy Title match in DDT for April 1st. That is of course if Kenny will still be the champion at the time.

Sanshiro Takagi & Takao Soma came out to challenge Crying Wolf for the KO-D Tag Team Titles after the Champions earned their third successful defence. The title match is booked for 11/3 in Korakuen Hall.

This year’s Anytime & Anywhere Contract Battle Royal will take place in Korakuen Hall on the 1st April.

A 10 minute Ironman Battle Royal will take place on 3rd March for the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Championship. The competitors are Tomomitsu Matsunaga, Michael Nakazawa, Poison JULIE Sawada, Gorgeous Matsuno, Tigers Mask and Kana. Notable in her absence is the current champion, Miyuki Matsuyama. She is still the champion as I type this.

DJ Nira will have his very own Best Of DVD released on 11th March. Only 1000 copies will be produced and they will be available at DDT shows and their online store.

10. Muscle Sakai Retirement Special Match: Danshoku Dino defeated Muscle Sakai with a Headlock (3:40).
11. Muscle Sakai Retirement Match: Minoru Suzuki defeated Muscle Sakai with the Gotch-Style Piledriver (10:36).

Muscle Sakai has ended his wrestling career to run his family’s business in Niigata and to take care of his wife and child. Rather than just have one match on the night Sakai took part in 7 matches, wrestling for the entire second half of the show. He took on Antonio Honda, Yasu Urano, Pedro Takaishi, Jaki Numazawa and Chou-un Shiryu as part of his Retirement Series of matches. He came out of it with two wins and three losses. Then Danshoku Dino came out to wrestle Sakai, who was so exhausted at this point that he submitted to a Headlock. Afterwards was the retirement ceremony where Sakai received a video message from Minoru Suzuki, who told Sakai to work hard in his new life. But that wasn’t all. Suzuki then said he wanted one more match with Sakai. Lo and behold, Minoru Suzuki was in attendence and was ready to give Sakai his retirement match.

However, this isn’t exactly the end of the MUSCLE brand of shows. The date of MUSCLE 11 was announced to take place in Korakuen Hall on October 6th…2030. By then, the next generation of Muscle Sakai will be ready to take to the ring and entertain the fans. Everybody in attendence was even given a free ticket to the event. See you in 20 years, Muscle Sakai!

Muscle Sakai Loses Hair Match

October 3, 2010

No pictures yet, but Muscle Sakai had a day he would rather forget at yesterday’s Ice Ribbon show. He teamed up with Riho to take on Emi Sakura and Hikari Minami. The match ended after two minutes when Sakura was disqualified. However, this led to a Captain’s Fall Hair Vs Hair match that took place right afterwards. Sakura got her payback by pinning Sakai with a La Magistral. Looks like Sakai could be retiring without his signature afro.

4. Muscle Sakai DDT Last Match: Sanshiro Takagi Vs Muscle Sakai
5. Special Singles Match: Kota Ibushi Vs Daisuke Sasaki
6. KO-D Tag Team Title: Shiro Koshinaka & Danshoku Dino (c) Vs HARASHIMA & Toru Owashi

A pretty busy card for Korakuen Hall. The KO-D Tag Team Championships take the headline spot with Shiro Koshinaka & Danshoku Dino facing Disaster-BOX duo HARASHIMA & Toru Owashi. The result of this match might help determine the next challenger for HARASHIMA’s KO-D Openweight Title or even Dino’s DDT Extreme Title.

Kota Ibushi makes his return to the ring facing off against Daisuke Sasaki. Ibushi’s return from injury was spoiled by YOSHIHIKO at last week’s Camping Ground event. Here, Sasaki can add salt to the wounds with a major victory over the Golden Star that would springboard him back into title contention.

The last days of Muscle Sakai wrestling before his retirement now leads to his final match for the DDT brand against Sanshiro Takagi. While his retirement show won’t take place until a forthnight later, it will still be an emotional match for everyone involved.

The Shit Heart ♥ Foundation marks its first match as a group by taking on the random squad of the Great Kojika from Big Japan, Emi Sakura of Ice Ribbon and Ultraman Robin of Specialist Global Pro. Never knew Robin had his own promotion.

The fresh set of teams formed during the Battle Royal at Shin-Kiba earlier this month will all face each other in a Gauntlet match. No Engrish team names made yet though. Also Dick Togo and GENTARO have their first match together as a team against the former Tag Champs KUDO & Yasu Urano.

4. 3 Way Match: Yasu Urano Vs Keisuke Ishii Vs DJ Nira
5. Kota Ibushi, Kenny Omega & Futoshi Miwa Vs Sanshiro Takagi, KUDO & Yukihiro Abe
6. Losers From 26/09 Tag Title Match Vs Michael Nakazawa & Hikaru Sato
7. KO-D Tag Team Title: KO-D Tag Team Champions After 26/09 Vs MIKAMI & Tanomusaku Toba

The Suicide Boyz have been given a second chance to go after the KO-D Tag Titles. MIKAMI & Tanomusaku Toba became the No. 1 Contenders at Sumo Hall, but their title match with Sanshiro Takagi & Munenori Sawa turned into a Three Way with Dino & Koshinaka thrown into the mix. It was Dino & Koshinaka who became champions while the Suicide Boyz were left cursing at the unfair decision of adding another team. To make it up to them, DDT has given MIKAMI & Toba another title shot and this time there will be no other teamds added to the mix. But who they face won’t be determined until the Korakuen Hall show takes place.

DDT “CAMPING-GROUND PRO-WRESTLING 2010 ~ THANK YOU DRAMATIC DREAM TEAM FAREWELL CAMPGROUND”

Yamanashi Natureland Om

1. 4 Way Tag Match: Keisuke Ishii & YOSHIHIKO defeated Dick Togo & Kota Ibushi, Michael Nakazawa & Mammoth Handa and Sanshiro Takagi & Muscle Sakai when YOSHIHIKO pinned Ibushi with the YOSHIHIKO Destroyer (59:08).

When the two buses arrived at the Yamanashi Natureland this morning, the visitors entering the site were not there for a camping trip. Instead, they travelled to see the third and final DDT “Camping-Ground Pro-Wrestling” show. In recent times, Yamanashi played home to one of DDT’s most famous shows that were filled with epic matches that spanned the entire parkland. Rocks were thrown, fireworks were let loose and people did Moonsaults into ponds. Every time a show took place here, more and more wrestlers have been added to the headline (and usually only) match. This time the fans were treated to a 4 Way Tag match with some unusual pairings. Kota Ibushi returned from injury and teamed with Dick Togo, Keisuke Ishii brought YOSHIHIKO along, Michael Nakazawa found Mammoth Handa from the depths of mediocrity and Sanshiro Takagi sided with Muscle Sakai as Sakai’s career goes through its final days. The head official for the match was Yukinori Matsui and he was joined by Tomomitsu Matsunaga as the back-up ref for when the action splits apart. Before the match could begin, the special guest announcers used an ocarina to call in a fairy to introduce the teams. Sanshiro brought out his trusty guitar, Ibushi made his entrance setting off fireworks, YOSHIHIKO came out sporting a shirt and shorts instead of impersonating another wrestler and nobody gave a damn about Handa. So far, so normal. Then the match began.

It started off pretty basic with the eight participants staying in the one place, tagging in and out when needed. But when Ibushi dominated Nakazawa with his arsenal of strikes and a Standing Moonsault, the fighting begun to move to another area of the campsite. Nakazawa was sent rolling down the sloping path by Togo, Sakai Body Slammed Ishii onto his partner, Sanshiro and Kota almost threw each other off the bridge and then wound up fighting on top of a cottage, which Ibushi dove off of onto Takagi. He didn’t stop there as he Moonsaulted off of a hill onto Nakazawa while YOSHIHIKO was tossed down another hill and was almost pinned by Sakai. Nakazawa and Togo brawled over to and inside the restrooms. From there, some of the wrestlers fetched out the artillary. Sanshiro brought out a leafblower, Handa rode on an inflatable whale and Ibushi carried a basket filled with fireworks on his back with an umbrella to shield himself. He let loose the fireworks on everyone, even his partner Togo was not safe from them. Takagi grabbed the guitar and tried to stop Ibushi with an anti-war song. But that just made Ibushi chase after him with even more fireworks. Togo caught up with Takagi and broke the guitar over his back. They then made it to a nearby shelter where they both sat down beside each other and begun a chop battle.

Meanwhile Ibushi found the swings and used them to fend off Nakazawa and Handa. YOSHIHIKO followed suit and swung into Takagi. Togo then applied the Crippler Crossface onto Mammoth Handa on the nearby stage, but Nakazawa was there to break it up. At this point a now nearly naked Nakazawa was given a German Suplex by Ibushi onto the wooden stage. The match moved into the rocky end of the river where YOSHIHIKO dove off the bridge onto everyone underneath. There were several nearfalls over at the pond. Ishii dove off the rocks and struck Handa with the Kneel Kick, Takagi gave Ishii the Sunflower Bomb into the water, Ibushi Moonsaulted onto Takagi and Nakazawa’s Back Drop attempt was prevented by a Dick Togo Missile Dropkick followed by a Pedigree into the water. Back in dry land, Muscle Sakai lit up a campfire with YOSHIHIKO. He was then run over by a truck driven by Nakazawa, who then grabbed YOSHIHIKO and threw him head first into the fire! Ishii stamped out the fire but YOSHIHIKO was then dragged onto the top of the van by Ibushi and Power Bombed onto the roof! YOSHIHIKO kicked out so he was then given a Brainbuster form the van onto the ground by Ibushi! Ishii stopped the count and hit Ibushi with the Kneel Kick, allowing YOSHIHIKO to recover and deliver the YOSHIHIKO Destroyer on Ibushi to win the match at just over 59 minutes!

After the match, everyone got together as it begun to rain over the campsite. Takagi said that this was the final event of its kind. It is a bit sad to see it go. It was an annual event that showed the imagination and craziness of DDT in one single hour. However, someone was overheard to have said “Next year, raising an army to a professional wrestling camp om!” I wonder what this could mean…

Shin-Kiba 1st RING

1. KUDO & Yasu Urano defeated Antonio Honda & Daisuke Sasaki when Urano pinned Honda with a Tornado Clutch (11:47).
2. Unit Reorganization Battle Royal: MIKAMI Vs Tanomusaku Toba Vs Hoshitango Vs Tomimitsu Matsunaga Vs Michael Nakazawa Vs Yukihiro Abe Vs Keisuke Ishii Vs Shigehiro Irie Vs Rion Mizuki Vs Takao Soma.
2a. Keisuke Ishii pinned Michael Nakazawa with a Backslide Pin (2:02).
2b. MIKAMI pinned Michael Nakazawa with the 450 Splash (4:52).
2c. Shigehiro Irie pinned Michael Nakazawa with the Diving Teddy Bear (6:24).
2d. Michael Nakazawa pinned Takao Soma with a Small Package (8:04).
2e. Takao Soma pinned Michael Nakazawa with an Enzuigiri (10:04).
3. Dick Togo defeated Kazuki Hirata with the Crippler Crossface (8:04).
4. Sanshiro Takagi defeated Yuki Miyazaki with the Sit Down Sunflower Bomb (14:42).
5. Muscle Sakai Shin-Kiba Last Match: HARASHIMA & Toru Owashi defeated Danshoku Dino & Muscle Sakai when HARASHIMA pinned Sakai with the Somato Stomp (16:24).

With Yuki Miyazaki’s retirement set for New Year’s Eve, she requested to have a match against Sanshiro Takagi before it takes place. Takagi overpowered the joshi veteran for a lot of the match, but Miyazaki fought back and almost won with a Moonsault. But in the end Takagi was too much for her and he pinned her with a devastating Sunflower Bomb. Afterwards, Takagi thanked Miyazaki for her time as a wrestler, but pointed out that he himself won’t retire until he is 90 years old. He then lifted Miyazaki up onto his shoulders and they celebrated as they went to the back.

After match #3, Dick Togo introduced GENTARO as his new tag team partner.

The point of the Unit Reorganization Battle Royal was to reshuffle and create new tag teams. The rules were that when a wrestler wins a fall, he gets to choose someone in the match to team with in the future. Those two wrestlers then leave the ring and the match starts again. It continues until there are only two wrestlers left, and then those two would be forced to be a team. Keisuke Ishii picked Yukihiro Abe as his partner. MIKAMI decided to stick with Tanomusaku Toba and continue to be one of the Suicide Boyz. Shigehiro Irie chose Hoshitango to form a pretty heavy duo. When Michael Nakazawa pinned Takao Soma, he then chose the rookie as his partner. Takao told Michael he does not like him and would not team with him, so the match restarted. When Takao pinned Michael, it looked like he would choose Tomimitsu Matsunaga. Instead, Takao said he doesn’t like him either and in the end went with Rion Mizuki so they can go out and drink champagne. This left Nakazawa and a reluctant Matsunaga being forced to team up together and once again become the Nuru Nuru Brothers.

But wait, there’s more. After the show ended, Hikaru Sato showed up and approached Michael Nakazawa and Tomimitsu Matsungaga at the exit. After a few words and a slap across Michael’s face, the three decided to form a new faction, the Shittohato♥Foundation! I’m trying to find out the proper translation. Shittohato might mean “Rotten Heart”. So maybe it is the “Rotten Heart Foundation” or “Rotten ♥ Foundation“, which sounds right to me. They already have a faction symbol, which is using their hands to form hearts over their chests (Awww, how cute!). Despite this bombshell, everyone in attendance ignored them as they left and the rest of the staff got headaches from their shouting.

Edit: Thanks goes to Ryan over at CZWFans for his explanation.

シットハート♥ファウンデーション = “shitto hāto ♥ faundēshon” or Shit Hart ♥ Foundation. Yeah.

Rotten heart is kind of what they mean by the name. 腐った心 or kusatta kokoro or rotten/decomposing/depressed heart/mind/spirit. Something like that.

It is obviously just a pun, but the name may have more layers of meaning to it than that.

Shit Heart ♥ Foundation it is then.

One more word of note, I will be travelling over to England this weekend to see the two Dragon Gate UK shows, so there will not be any more updates on this site until I return next week.

DDT Schedule For September

September 4, 2010

Back to the proper DDT related news and we have some stuff to really look forward to.

DDT “NON-FIX 9.8”
08/09/2010
Shin-Kiba 1st RING

1. KUDO & Yasu Urano Vs Antonio Honda & Daisuke Sasaki
2. Dick Togo Vs Kazuki Hirata
3. Unit Reorganization Battle Royal: MIKAMI Vs Tanomusaku Toba Vs Hoshitango Vs Tomimitsu Matsunaga Vs Michael Nakazawa Vs Yukihiro Abe Vs Keisuke Ishii Vs Shigehiro Irie Vs Rion Mizuki Vs Takao Soma
4. Muscle Sakai Shin-Kiba Last Match: HARASHIMA & Toru Owashi Vs Danshoku Dino & Muscle Sakai
5. Sanshiro Takagi Vs Yuki Miyazaki

First up is the next “NON-FIX” event in Shin-Kiba 1st RING. The main event will be an inter-gender match between Sanshiro Takagi and soon-to-retire NEO wrestler Yuki Miyazaki. Yuki spent some time in DDT in the past and is a 15 time Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion. Muscle Sakai will team up with his Belt Hunter X Hunter co-founder Danshoku Dino for his final match in the Shin-Kiba arena before his retirement against HARASHIMA & Toru Owashi. Thi match also serves as a preview for the upcoming KO-D Tag Team Titles match at Korakuen Hall later this month. I haven’t been able to find out what the Unit Reorganization Battle Royal is about. Is it to create new teams and stables? All I know is that the match was created by DDT’s new General Manager, Tsurumi Amon.

Yamanashi Natureland Om

1. 4 Way Tag Match: Dick Togo & Kota Ibushi Vs Keisuke Ishii & YOSHIHIKO Vs Michael Nakazawa & Mammoth Handa Vs Sanshiro Takagi & X

After NON-FIX, DDT then takes a day trip down to the Yamanashi Natureland Om for its annual Campsite Pro Wrestling show. Every year DDT adds another team to the advertised match so this time we have a 4 Way Tag Team match, and the line up has me very excited. Who’d ever thought that a dream team of Dick Togo & Kota Ibushi will be a reality at an event like this? Who’d knew that Keisuke Ishii & YOSHIHIKO were such nature enthusaists? Who will Sanshiro Takagi bring with him as his surprise tag partner? Who else thinks Michael Nakazawa & Mammoth Honda is the most inspired pairing ever? Who will remember to bring the fireworks? So many questions and all will be answered at the camping ground on 12th September.
