Super Japan Continues, Is Hiroshi Too Scary for Nakatsu?

Heads up but I will be travelling over the next few days to see some wrestling in London, which includes “FORBIDDEN DOOR”. However it is kind of a light weekend of shows within the DDT circle so there should not be any delay in getting results and writing a report for the Tokyo Princess Cup semi finals on Saturday. I might be able to at post results of tomorrow’s Baka Gaijin + Friends show in the Philippines too. If not then that will be saved for the next DDT Around The World article at the end of the month.

BASARA has a path set towards Halloween for their next big Union MAX Title match. Ryota Nakatsu says he isn’t scared of defending the title against anybody but Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi thinks the champion has been ducking him. Hiroshi has recently formed a quartet with Speed Of Sounds and Gouma Ryu called WizRYU but Ryu isn’t a guy you can rely on for an Elimination Match so Masato Kamino is taking part instead. Nakatsu is relying on Hyakusho Ikki and Takumi Tsukamoto to back him up in the meantime.

So there wasn’t actually plans for Super Japan to last past the first show but Sanshiro Takagi was happy enough with how the launch did to run another event under the name. Yuji Nagata is still his pick to be the ace and he’ll get a far more serious match this time because his opponent is Shinya Aoki! There is a little bit of history here because Aoki defeated Yuji’s brother Katsuhiko Nagata in the DREAM Middleweight Grand Prix back in 2008.

Takagi himself is confident he can make a full return to the ring by the end of the year. However he isn’t sure if he can make it back in time for November’s Sumo Hall show. He also is only currently cleared by his doctor to do light exercises. With that being said, Takagi wants to shake off some ring rust so he will take part in an Exhibition Match with his old tag team partner Munenori Sawa. The bout is only scheduled to have a five minute time limit but Sawa has told Takagi he wants the two of them to go as wild as they can and cause some trouble!

Nakatsu has successfully defended the MAX Title against Hiroshi one time before back in February 2022. That was Hiroshi’s second time challenging for the belt. The other time was when it was revived to be used as BASARA’s top championship all the way back on Christmas Day of 2016.

1. Takumi Tsukamoto defeated Takeru Inoue with the Brainbuster Slam (10:14).
2. Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi, Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga (w/ Gouma Ryu) defeated Takato Nakano, Masato Kamino & Lil’ Kraken when Hiroshi pinned Kraken with the Perfect Plex (12:04).
3. SAGAT Vs Ayumu Honda ended in a Double Countout (15:03).
4. FUMA & Ryuichi Sekine defeated Fuminori Abe & Daiki Shimomura when Sekine submitted Shimomura with the Let’s Combine (10:02).
5. Union MAX Title: Ryota Nakatsu (c) defeated Daichi Kazato with a Forward Rolling Cradle (16:53).
*V3 for Ryota Nakatsu.

Out of all the times Ryota Nakatsu had a championship match, this one was probably the most unusual. Daichi Kazato brought along several long rubber straps to either use as weapons against Nakatsu or as something to slingshot himself at Nakatsu. The straps limited the Union MAX Champion from using a lot of his regular moveset but when they were eventually taken out of the picture, he countered a roll up from Kazato into one of his own to win the match. Nakatsu asked the fans after the match if they noticed he couldn’t do any Zero Fighter Kicks, German Suplexes or V Sliders because of Kazato’s plan. They still had an exciting match though and he called Kazato the craziest guy.

With today’s victory Nakatsu said he now has nothing to fear when it comes to defending the MAX Title. Suddenly Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi’s music played and Hiroshi was carried down to the ring by his fellow WizRYU members Gouma Ryu and Speed Of Sounds. He said he knows Nakatsu all too well and asked if he was scared of him? He knows the last person Nakatsu wants to be challenged by is “Mr. Perfect” Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi! The champ admits Hiroshi can be scary but he isn’t afraid of him so he accepts the challenge. Hiroshi then tried to attack him but Kazato suddenly came to Nakatsu’s rescue! Nakatsu appreciated it so much that he decided he and Kazato should team up together. Backstage Hiroshi announced his MAX Title challenge will happen on 31st October.

Isami Kodaka missed the show due to illness. He was replaced by Fuminori Abe in Match #4.

Match #3 ended in a Double Countout after SAGAT lost his temper and threw Ayumu Honda into the audience. He then purposely prevented Honda from making it back to the ring. As soon as the match ended, SAGAT demanded an Iron Fist Tag Team Titles shot with Minoru Fujita as his partner because the Super Family are fed up with Honda and Kengo Mashimo. Hiroshi on Honda’s behalf accepted the challenge and said the match will happen on 17th September. He thinks Mashimo will be available on that date.

It has been just under one year since BASARA last held a show at Korakuen Hall. Now under new management, today’s show is the next chapter for the company. Even though they did not announce an attendance number, the word going around from them and wrestling reporters is this was the biggest crowd they have ever had! The new president Ryota Nakatsu credited everyone involved with the show from those signed with the company to those who wrestle freelance for all of the hard work they did to promote it. The next goal Nakatsu has in mind is to sell enough tickets to open up the north side of Korakuen and then fill that up too. He also promised to openly talk about the positives and negatives happening in BASARA because there is no point in a company like this trying to look cool.

In the main event Nakatsu defeated the new sales manager Takumi Tsukamoto in his first defence of the Union MAX Title. Nakatsu said it felt amazing for both of them to be BASARA’s main focus today. Tsukamoto agreed and is a litle worried he may have lost his mind during the match because it felt so good. Nakatsu then promoted the next show on 20th August until he was interrupted by Daichi Kazato and Ayato Yoshida. Kazato climbed the turnbuckle and held onto a large rubber strap. Yoshida then pulled the strap back and snapped it back into Kazato’s face. Nakatsu was confused until Kazato explained that is his way of challenging him for the MAX Title.

Ryuichi Sekine & FUMA named themselves Hyakusho Ikki because they wanted to defend the Iron Fist Tag Team Titles a hundred times. They couldn’t even make it to three. Instead Kengo Mashimo & Ayumu Honda are the new champions after Honda made FUMA submit to the Jumping Armbar. FUMA later told Sekine that they were sent back down to rock bottom but that just means it’s time to start preparing for the next harvest. The challengers brought along Naka Shuma and Kyu Mogami to be their cornermen because all four of them are part of a unit in 2AW called MJ2. But when Mashimo & Honda won the titles Honda (through Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi) told Shuma & Mogami that they weren’t needed anymore! Backstage Shuma & Mogami said it’s boring to just be cornermen so they decided maybe they will come liven up BASARA too!

The first appearance of El Desperado in BASARA had a little extra backstory to it involving one of his opponents. Masato Kamino took the New Japan entrance exam back in October 2012 where he gave up on the test halfway through. But he remembers the sight of Kyosuke Mikami watching him in the crowd that day. They were opponents today with Desperado teaming up with Isami Kodaka while Kamino was part of the Aijin Tag with Takato Nakano. Desperado ended up winning when he gave Nakano the Reverse Tiger Driver followed by the Pinche Loco. Desperado praised his opponents and would like for more fans to discover them. He thinks Aijin Tag would even win over NJPW fans if they were to ever wrestle over there. Kodaka said he would love to team with Desperado again because it would be a shame for them to stop after just one match. Nakano said it was a dream come true to fight a New Japan champion because his mother loves NJPW. His next dream is to beat El Desperado! Kamino called this match a milestone in his life and he will be starting again from here. Aijin Tag are now thinking about entering a Jr. Tag tournament to make a new impact.

You know I should have seen this coming. BASARA gets new management with Ryota Nakatsu and Takumi Tsukamoto becoming the two most powerful figures in charge. So when Nakatsu went looking for someone to challenge him for the Union MAX Title, Tsukamoto was standing right there until Nakatsu chose him as his next challenger.

The Iron Fist Tag Team Champions have made new enemies. Hyakusho Ikki thought Ayumu Honda wanted to join them but what he really wants is to take the tag titles from them! Honda already had it planned out because he had a tag partner chosen and everything. Kengo Mashimo is back in BASARA and wasted no time in starting a fight with Ryuichi Sekine & FUMA.

1. Daiki Shimomura defeated Takeru Inoue with the Swanton Bomb (8:59).
2. Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Gouma Ryu when Oosugi pinned Ryu after a Double Brainbuster (7:52).
3. SAGAT & Minoru Fujita defeated Daichi Kazato & Munetatsu Nakamura when SAGAT pinned Kazato with the Gore Grind (10:56).
4. Masato Kamino, Lil’ Kraken & Fuminori Abe defeated Ryuichi Sekine, FUMA & Ayumu Honda when Kraken pinned Sekine with the Period. (13:41).
5. Isami Kodaka & Ryota Nakatsu defeated Takumi Tsukamoto & Takato Nakano when Nakatsu pinned Nakano with the V Slider (14:13).

During the main event Takumi Tsukamoto taunted Ryota Nakatsu in a bid to provoke the Union MAX Champion. But his attempt to hive him the Zudon was stopped by Isami Kodaka and Nakatsu went on to beat Takato Nakano with the V Slider. After the match Nakatsu told Takeru Inoue to hand him over an envelope because inside it was the name of his next MAX Title challenger. He then crumpled up the envelope and decided Tsukamoto will face him for the title at Korakuen Hall on 3rd August! The two of them are now the highest ranked management in BASARA so Nakatsu thinks the promotion’s biggest match of the year should be between those two. Tsukamoto said he will do his best to win the title and write BASARA’s next page.

It turns out Ayumu Honda really didn’t want to join forces with Hyakusho Ikki. He betrayed Ryuichi Sekine & FUMA and helped Lil’ Kraken with the match for the other team. Honda whispered into Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi’s ear after the match and had him interpret his message. Hiroshi told Hyakusho Ikki that Honda would never join a lame team like them. He only went near them because he wants the Iron Fist Tag Team Titles. He already has a partner ready and he’s at the show today. Suddenly out walked Kengo Mashimo and he started fighting Hyakusho Ikki with Honda that made its way to the back! Later when things calmed down FUMA said Honda had made fun of farmers. Sekine warns that when you make fun of farmers you will see hell! They’re going to fight Honda & Mashimo fair and square with the Iron Fist Tag Titles on the line.

After Match #3 several wrestlers all got in the ring trying to figure out what match they should have on 3rd August. Daichi Kazato completely lost track of who he wanted to team with so Gouma Ryu suggested they do a 3 Way Trios Match. Ryu himself isn’t going to wrestle. Instead he wants to be in the corner of Speed Of Sounds & Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi. Kazato decided he will team with Yasu Urano and a third person. Both Minoru Fujita & SAGAT agreed to team with each other and go find another partner. Later in the day Hiroshi, Ryu & SOS all decided to form a new unit called with-kai.

1. Takumi Tsukamoto & Banana Senga defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Fuminori Abe when Tsukamoto pinned Hiroshi with the Osotogari (7:16).
2. 3 Way Match: Tsutomu Oosugi defeated Daichi Kazato and Daiki Shimomura when Oosugi pinned Kazato with the Tsuki no Ishi (7:57).
3. Lil’ Kraken & Akira Jo defeated SAGAT & Isami Kodaka when Kraken pinned SAGAT with the Period. (12:42).
4. Ryota Nakatsu defeated Munetatsu Nakamura with the V Slider (15:56).
5. Ryuichi Sekine, FUMA & Ayumu Honda defeated Isami Kodaka, Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino when Sekine submitted Nakano with the Let’s Combine (17:44).

The winners of the main event Hyakusho Ikki made an offer to Ayumu Honda to join their team, thinking his addition will make them even better. Honda didn’t want to but was afraid to turn them down directly so he whispered his decision into Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi’s ear and asked him to tell them. Hiroshi lied to Ryuichi Sekine & FUMA, telling them that Honda loves the idea and wants to join the team! Suddenly Lil’ Kraken walked down to the ring leading a train of Akira Jo, SAGAT and Minoru Fujita lined up behind him. Kraken heard Hyakusho Ikki call themselves the best team but he has his own family, a Super Family if you will, which is even better. The four of them created a strong bond together in their tag match today (a lot of the match was the two teams both struggling to get along) and they would all like to challenge for the Iron Fist Tag Team Titles as one unit. They were convinced to whittle their team down to just Kraken & Jo in order to get the title match. Jo then told Kraken they will need to coodernate by wearing the same colours on the day. He suggests red and wasn’t going to argue any further because he has to bring his daughter to see Lilo & Stitch once this show was over. FUMA agreed to have the title match on 25th June.

After beating Munetatsu Nakamura in a BASARA Vs Ganbare☆Pro battle, Ryota Nakatsu continues to be on the lookout for his next Union Pro Title challenger. Nakatsu taunted Nakamura throughout the match and even pulled back his hand when he offered his a handshake after the bout. He praised Nakamura for being an amazing young wrestler and said a guy like him would be a great choice to be his next challenger. So he wants Nakamura to help him find his actual next challenger.

During the show opening introductions an argument broke out between Hiroshi and Takato Nakano. Hiroshi claimed martial arts is the best while Nakano threw his support behind sports instead. The solution to this is to have the 15th June show be dedicated to pitting Team Martial Arts against Team Sports!

An injury report was given out by Tokyo Joshi Pro today for three of their wrestlers. Hyper Misao’s arm injury has been revealed to be ligament damage in her right elbow and she will remain out of action until late June. Haruna Neko picked up another knee injury and will miss this weekend’s shows. She is currently having it examined so TJPW will give an update once her diagnosis is known.

Kira Summer has a thigh injury and will be resting for another 4 weeks. Her Tokyo Princess Cup qualifier match with Wakana Uehara that was meant to happen on Saturday is postponed until she returns. However if she is still not cleared to wrestle by late June she may have to forfeit the match.

Parts of the undercard for Saturday’s show has been changed because of Neko and Summer’s injuries. There is now one less match and Uehara takes Neko’s place in Match #2.

The trainee Konatsu will now go by the name Ren Konatsu for her debut. She was born in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka on 26th May 2001 and is 153cm tall. She was originally an SKE48 fan and started watching TJPW to follow Yuki Arai. However it was Suzume who inspired Konatsu to try wrestling out for herself so Suzume gets to be her very first opponent.

A shootfight style ruleset is being tried out by Ganbare☆Pro for Match #4. The GanPro Ultimate Rules can be won by knockout, submission or referee stoppage. There are no rope breaks and moves involving use of the ropes or corners are prohibited. Also double team moves and tag partners breaking up the opponent’s holds are not allowed. Should a grounded fighter position himself onto the ring apron the referee will shout “Don’t Move” and the match will pause for the wrestlers to reposition themselves over to the centre of the ring. Intentional fouls are an immediate disqualification while non-serious fouls result in a warning. Two warnings will result in a disqualification. Given the fighting styles of Shuichiro Katsumura, Takuya Wada, Tyson Maeguchi and Thanomsak Toba they should all adapt to the rules no problem.

Today was MAO’s final block match in the Best Of The Super Juniors tournament. He was able to beat SHO using everything he learned in DDT throughout his career and finished tied for first in his block with 12 points. However due to head-to-head tiebreakers he did not qualify for the final. I will write a full report for his tour with New Japan next week. Next week he comes back home to rejoin KANON and fight some old friends.

The rules for the Lumberjack Pool Crocodile Match have not been explained yet. Not even those in charge of DDT knows what it’s going to be.

The next match in Toru Owashi’s 20th Anniversary series is a partial reunion of DISASTER BOX! He will be in the same match as HARASHIMA, Yuki Ueno and Kazuki Hirata. Sadly Naomi Yoshimura will not be in attendance to complete the reunion.

Now that Danshoku Dieno is done with being a Strong Style wrestler, he’ll have to find his strength somewhere else to fight four opponents at once.

1. Chouten ~Itadaki~ 2025 – A Block Final: Keisuke Ishii defeated Takumi Tsukamoto with a Knee Kick (7:01).
2. Chouten ~Itadaki~ 2025 – B Block Final: Ryota Nakatsu defeated Daiki Shimomura with the V Slider (5:37).
3. Isami Kodaka, TAMURA☆GENE☆ & Tomoki Hatano defeated Takato Nakano, Masato Kamino & Yasu Urano when Hatano pinned Urano with the Diving Guillotine Drop (13:28).
4. Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi Vs Daichi Kazato ended in a Draw when both gave up at the same time (8:46).
5. Ryuichi Sekine, FUMA & Ayumu Honda defeated SAGAT, Lil’ Kraken & Minoru Fujita when FUMA pinned Kraken with a German Suplex (10:44).
6. Chouten ~Itadaki~ 2025 – Final: Ryota Nakatsu defeated Keisuke Ishii with the V Slider (15:44).

Ryota Nakatsu has now cemented himself as the most dominant wrestler in BASARA after winning the Chouten ~Itadaki~ for the third time in his career. Nakatsu beating Daiki Shimomura and Ishii beating Takumi Tsukamoto earlier in the show meant the final became BASARA Vs Ganbare☆Pro. Nakatsu kicked out of the High Angle Double Arm DDT and used a combination of German Suplex, Buzzsaw Kick and then the V Slider to win. Kazusada Higuchi stood in Nakatsu’s corner for the match and afterwards Nakatsu told him they will take the top spots of DDT and BASARA together! Backstage Ishii said he does not want his battles with BASARA to end because they have a lot of people he hasn’t fought yet. He would like to continue participating on their shows.

Since Nakatsu is already the Union MAX Champion, he decided that by winning this tournament he gets to decide his next title match. It will happen at the 3rd August Korakuen Hall show. He already expected to defend the title against the Chouten winner on that show and joked the Korakuen match will be Ryota Nakatsu Vs Ryota Nakatsu. Right now there is nobody he is interested in so he is beginning a new journey to find out who his challenger should be.

The Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi Vs Daichi Kazato match had Takeru Inoue interfering twice, once while wearing the Best Stretchman V3 costume and the other time while wearing the Judomaster outfit.

KUBITO was in attendance to give everyone an update on his health. At the 18th April BASARA show he collapsed at ringside during one of the matches and was rushed to hospital. His tests since then have showed abnormalities but he will remain out of action until the summer. He told fans he will be spending his time living happily from now own.

1. 3 Way Match: Minoru Fujita & Yasu Urano defeated Takumi Tsukamoto & SAGAT and Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino when Fujita pinned SAGAT with a Spinning Cross Lock (10:01).
2. Best 2 Out Of 3 Falls: KUBITO (1) Vs Judomaster (1) ended in a Draw.
2a. KUBITO submitted Judomaster with the Crossface Lock (1:47).
2b. Judomaster pinned KUBITO with the Ippon (0:53).
2c. KUBITO Vs Judomaster ended in a Double Disqualification (1:58).
3. Daichi Kazato, Banana Senga & Tsutomu Oosugi defeated Lil’ Kraken, Brahman Shu & Brahman Kei when Kazato pinned Kraken with a Leg Roll Clutch Hold (10:15).
4. Gouma Ryu defeated Kikutaro with the Running Neckbreaker Drop (11:28).
5. Iron Fist Tag Team Titles: Ryuichi Sekine & FUMA (c) defeated Daiki Shimomura & Keisuke Ishii when FUMA pinned Shimomura with the Hunter’s Suplex (14:27).
*V1 for Hyakusho Ikki.
6. Union MAX Title: Ryota Nakatsu (c) defeated Isami Kodaka with the Super Figure 4 Arm Lock (16:34).
*V1 for Ryota Nakatsu.

The hometown edge didn’t work for Isami Kodaka. He was already on the brink of defeat when Ryota Nakatsu gave him the V Slider but he was done for once he was put in the Super Figure 4 Arm Lock. Nakatsu said Kodaka escaped from his Arm Bar so many times during the match that he got fed up with him to the point where he admits the finish may have been overkill. Kodaka told him he once got advice from a senior to keep fighting strong juniors otherwise you will get old as a wrestler. So Kodaka will keep on challenging Nakatsu. The next Chouten ~Itadaki~ will begin soon and Nakatsu declared he will enter it. He plans to win the tournament so he can nominate his next Union MAX Title challenger.

The team of Ryuichi Sekine & FUMA are now going by the team name Hyakusho Ikki. Their opponents Daiki Shimomura & Keisuke Ishii weren’t considered to be a proper team when they challenged the Iron Fist Tag Team Champions but those concerns were pushed aside once the match began. The champs retained the belts and Sekine quickly left the show to go back to his village because the busy farming season is coming up. Shimomura wants to continue teaming with Ishii and the feeling is mutual. Ishii is getting addicted to BASARA’s charm and would like to enter the Chouten ~Itadaki~.

Kikutaro had a lot of legal questions to ask Gouma Ryu while they were fighting. Things such as is it a non-consensual wrestling crime to say “I’m going to kill you” to your opponent?

Judomaster complained about losing to KUBITO so quickly, claiming it was done via a foul. The two agreed to continue their match as a Best Two Out Of Three Falls contest. Judomaster won the second falls and quickly decided to leave until KUBITO called him the “Red Masked Man”. He returned for the third fall and got unmasked to reveal he is Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi underneath. KUBITO then decided to put the mask over the referee’s face, obscuring his vision. Hiroshi then unmasked KUBITO and the referee decided to disqualify them both for the fouls.
