Happy Motel are the newest group in DDT. After beating Shuten-dōji a few days ago they already became the No. 1 Contenders for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles.

With Ibushi still out of action, Gota Ihashi gets to take his place in one of the matches meant to celebrate Ibushi’s 10th Anniversary. It will be a Kickboxing match against Michael Nakazawa. For Nakazawa’s sake it’s a good thing Ibushi won’t be involved in it now. Painful things tend to happen to Nakazawa whenever he fights Ibushi.

Antonio Honda, Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo have formed a new group called Happy Motel. According to Honda, the group was formed to support the glorious future of Takeshita & Endo while he gets to do something meaningful for whatever remaining time he has left in the ring. Their first match together under their new name was a success, defeating the current KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions, Shuten-dōji. Honda noted how many strong stables DDT has right now but he, Takeshita & Endo are happy to be teaming together. Honda encouraged the reporters at ringside to write about the hot new up and coming unit who are riding a wave of momentum towards the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Championships!

Yasu Urano spent a lot of the semi-main event trying to provoke Shigehiro Irie. Even though Urano and HARASHIMA won the match, an angry Irie chased Urano away from ringside afterwards.

There were some slight changes to the card due to Kota Ibushi’s injury. The 3-Way Match between Danshoku Dino, Makoto Oishi and Shunma Katsumata was turned into a Tag Team bout. Kazuki Hirata was added to team with Dino against Oishi & Katsumata. Dino wanted to dance with Hirata but was turned down because only Hirata can decide when it is appropriate to dance. The time came late in the match and the two punched their opponents in time to the music until Hirata pinned Katsumata with the Emerald Frosion.

Michael Nakazawa was quite perverted when he was in the ring with Saki Akai. Whenever he caught one of her kicks he tried to lick her leg.

Kota Ibushi suffered a concussion during his IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title defeat to KUSHIDA at today’s New Japan show. He was taken to hospital after the match and he did not suffer any other injury. Ibushi will not be wrestling at the 6/7 Nagoya show or the 8/7 BOYZ show in Shinjuku in order to recover. The cards for both shows will be altered due to Ibushi’s absence.

Makoto Oishi was surprised to find out his next DDT Extreme Title defence will be against his good friend Danshoku Dino. During a press conference for the match Dino asked Oishi why is he so fond of wrestling in Idol Lumberjack matches? Oishi got flustered and tried to explain it is a fun match for both the wrestlers and the fans. Dino wonders if the real reason is Oishi wants to spend a lot of time being next to his favourite idols. Dino has yet to announce who his idol lumberjacks will be.

So he decided to pick the punching bag of the Pancrase dojo Shibata to team with him. But don’t take it the wrong way, Sato ensures everyone that Shibata is a talented fighter.

3. Special Single Match: Tiger Bed Scene defeated Bank Robbery Man with the Besshinoku Driver (8:17).
4. Power Of Dreams Take Off!: Mitomi Masayuki & Tomoya Kawamura defeated Yumehito Imanari & Chikara by Disqualification when Imanari attacked the referee (10:04).
5. Special Single Match: Ken Ohka Vs GENTARO ended in a Double KO (18:48).
6. Special Tag Team Match: Osamu Namiguchi & Shota defeated Tatsuhito Takaiwa & Black Tiger V when Shota pinned Tiger with the Frog Splash (14:36).

Shota scored a big victory in the main event by pinning a Black Tiger. After the match Shota said when he joined Ganbare☆Wrestling a year ago he never thought he would be main eventing Shin-Kiba 1st RING. Now he thinks Ganpuro can become major league and his proof is being able to buy a house and car with the money he’s earned from wrestling in the company. He has grown and he knows Ganpuro can grow too. Osamu Namiguchi cut in to remind Shota that he hates Ganpuro but he still agrees to wrestle here so he deserves some credit.

Ken Ohka and GENTARO brought each other to the limit in the semi-main event. Ohka came out to “Car Wars” by Tom Scott which was used by Dynamite Kid when he wrestled in Japan. Both men fought their hearts out as GENTARO countered the Spear Of Fire with the Vertical Drop Brainbuster. Ohka found his fighting spirit and got into a Lariat Battle that ended in another Brainbuster. Both men were out flat as the ref began the 10 count. GENTARO was close to getting back to his feet but it was too late, the ref counted both men out and the match ended in a Double Knockout. GENTARO thought he should have won and he asked the audience if they thought it was a draw. Ohka claimed he took a big step forward and GENTARO agreed with him, saying he has grown since they first met 12 years ago. He also told him to continue working hard and they shook hands. GENTARO said he really liked wrestling in Ganpuro and also the enthusiasm Ohka brings to the company. He offered to become a counselor for Ganpuro so he could help out when needed.

The first match for Power Of Dreams did not work out as planned. Tempers flared as Yumehito Imanari was pitted against his enemies from Union: Mitomi Masayuki & Tomoya Kawamura. Things got out of control when the Union team double teamed Chikara and yelled out “This is the end of Ganbare☆Wrestling!” Imanari came to the rescue with a chair and went crazy by throwing non-stop punches at Masayuki. The referee tried to stop him but was knocked down, forcing the match to end by disqualification. Imanari yelled over and over that he wanted to win. Chikara told him he also wants to win and they agreed to get ready for their next match together.

Bank Robbery Man turned out to be Atsushi Maruyama. I should have saw that coming. It is another in his growing line of schemes to rejoin the Ganpuro roster after last year declaring he would leave the company forever. His excuse this time was he wasted his money on lottery tickets over the last four years so he could afford a desk he wanted since elementary school. When that didn’t work he became Bank Robbery Man. After he was unmasked by Tiger Bed Scene, Maruyama once again apologised and promised that he would not return.

After spending so much of his matches trying to film them with his camera, Shibata has come to the conclusion that he could get even better angles if he was a referee instead. Ken Ohka decided Shibata will be the referee and cameraman for the Public Recording Match between Aoi Ishibashi and Manami Kanda on 23rd July.

Kenny Omega currently holds the final Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract and he will cash it in on 20th July. Omega sees this as his last chance to get into the main event of this year’s Sumo Hall show as the KO-D Openweight Champion (I assume the contract cannot be used to insert the holder into another title match to turn it into a Triple Threat).

All that has been said about Kota Ibushi’s 10th Anniversary match is it will be a match he wants to do.

DDT “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2014 ~MAYBE SUMMER WILL CHANGE MY LIFE~”, 17/08/2014

The Street Wrestling Match that takes place all around the arena has traditionally* been the dark match for every “RYOGOKU PETER PAN” show. This year it will be part of the main card.

Shiro Koshinaka, Aja Kong, Ladybeard and Ai Shimizu will all compete on the show.

*It just hit me that DDT has now done enough Sumo Hall shows to have traditions for them.
