6b. Re-rematch: Fuminori Abe defeated Isami Kodaka with the Manjigatame (6:15).
*Fuminori Abe wins the right to become Fuminori Abe II.

The final BASARA show of 2022 was produced by Fuminori Abe because it was his last show under contract with the company before he goes freelance next year. The main event was a Battle Royal to grant the winner naming rights for Fuminori Abe II. The match had to be restarted several times because everybody kept immediately knocking each other out of the ring, leaving Abe on his own as the supposed winner. Even when the Battle Royal had a proper finish it was still Abe who won it. So he now gets to be his own successor.

Another one of his ideas was a match that pitted Christmas-gun against Buddhist-gun in a religious battle. Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi, SAGAT & Yasu Urano represented the spirit of Christmas while Abe led Takumi Tsukamoto & Banana Senga into a fight with peaceful intentions. At one point Hiroshi sang Christmas songs to psychologically damage Abe. IT stopped when Abe figured out chanting Buddhist prayers had the same effect on Hiroshi. The two eventually knocked each other out ending the match in a draw. Not that the result matters. BASARA made sure to tell everyone afterwards the match was fictional, just in case anyone found it sacrilegious.

Gilberto Style, Pom Replaces Raku, Naya’s Forbidden Training

We’re building up to Isami Kodaka against Fuminori Abe for the Union MAX Title next month.

The FUMA Vs Yasu Urano match can be treated as an unofficial 3rd place playoff from the Chouten ~Itadaki~ tournament. Both of them were eliminated from the semi finals.

BASARA “BASARA 205 ~OJI NI KITSUNE 22~”, 26/11/2022

5. Kung Fu Yoga Allied Forces Vs Ninja USA Forces Counter Attack: Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & FUMA Vs Ryota Nakatsu & SAGAT

Asian Kung Fu Revolution are producing the evening show. Can the alliance of Kung Fu and Yoga defeat American ninjas in the final battle of the night?

The Gilberto Style Match between Urano and Kodaka is taken from the anime Baki The Grappler. In the anime it is a contest where both fighters hold onto the same handkerchief while they fight. The first one to let go of the handkerchief loses. The “Loser Loses” wordplay is because the Loser Loses his honour in defeat.

Speed Of Sounds having a match against each other is notable by itself but the match title sounding like a reference to Ranma 1/2’s cursed springs has me confused over what they could be planning.

Harimao will be without Naomi Yoshimura for a while but at least Kazusada Higuchi still has Yuki Ishida with him. They will team up with RSP to take on The 37KAMIINA.

We’re getting a preview of Joey Janela against Jun Akiyama. It may be the most normal action we’re going to get between the two as they prepare for the DDT Extreme Title match.

No Battle Royal to determine next year’s No. 1 Contender for the World Omori Title?

7. D-Ou Grand Prix 2022 – Final: Yuki Ueno Vs Yukio Naya

Naya visited his father Takatoriki Tadashige this week to give him the latest report on his pro wrestling career as well as talk about his brother Oho’s currently impressive run at the Grand Sumo Tournament in Fukuoka. Naya told his father he was competing in the D-Ou Grand Prix and qualified for the final next month. Takatoriki praised his son for working hard but told him he always had weak luck. Everybody likes people who are hungry to succeed and try their best but those qualities can be useless if Naya does not have the spirit to bring down his opponent and win. So Takatoriki offered to teach Naya that spirit by using forbidden gambling training to improve his luck.

The training is forbidden because Takatoriki was a retired sumo wrestler who became blackballed from the sport after admitting to illegal gambling on baseball games which resulted borrowing large amounts of money to pay off his debts. Despite his dark history with gambling, he felt this was necessary and challenged Naya to beat him in a game of blackjack. Naya succeeded and his father promised to reward him with a 6 month gift voucher at a Personal Training gym if he wins the D-Ou Grand Prix.

Four of the D-Ou Grand Prix participants who failed to make the final now have to team up together and fight the entire DAMNATION T.A.

Naruki Doi returns and gets his request to fight HARASHIMA granted. It’s in a 6-Man Tag Match though and HARASHIMA has to fight against the rest of his DISASTER BOX stablemates.

??? Fans – Withheld

1. Chouten ~Itadaki~ – A Block Final: Fuminori Abe defeated FUMA with the I’ll Be Back Style Ham Roll (11:20).
2. Chouten ~Itadaki~ – B Block Final: Yasu Urano defeated Masato Kamino with a Urahane Origatame (13:16).
3. Turnabout Pro Wrestling Trial: Gouma & Banana Senga defeated Isami Kodaka when Gouma & Senga pinned Kodaka after a Double Neckbreaker (5:45).
4. Takumi Tsukamoto, Takato Nakano & Lil’ Kraken defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi, Daichi Kazato & Tsutomu Oosugi when Tsukamoto pinned Kazato with a Brainbuster Slam (9:43).
5. Isami Kodaka, Daiki Shimomura & Minoru Fujita defeated Ryota Nakatasu, SAGAT & Akiyori Takizawa when Kodaka pinned SAGAT with the Modified Samson Clutch (13:12).
6. Chouten ~Itadaki~ – Final: Fuminori Abe defeated Yasu Urano with the Modified Manjigatame (23:32).

Fuminori Abe wins the Chouten ~Itadaki~ tournament after he defeated Yasu Urano in the final! Afterwards he challenged Isami Kodaka for the Union MAX Title at Korakuen Hall on 11th December.

The return of the Turnabout Pro Wrestling Trial brought Kodaka to court accused of blackmail. The Prosecutor Banana Senga said Kodaka used blackmail to deprive Gouma of his full name, Gouma Ryu. Since Gouma was Kodaka’s attorney in this trial, he had to defend that incident. He lost the Ryu part of his name because of a match stipulation and had to follow the rules. The two agreed if they could beat Kodaka then they could get Gouma’s name back. They won the match and Kodaka was declared guilty. However, Kodaka asked the court for an appeal over the result. It’s been granted so for now Gouma has been temporarily renamed Gouma Ryu (Reserve) until further notice.

Ryuichi Sekine announced he will have his comeback match on the 11th December Korakuen show. He took a break from wrestling back at the end of January 2021 to take care of his mental health.

BASARA “BASARA 199 ~GLITTER~” Results

September 6, 2022

BASARA “BASARA 199 ~GLITTER~”, 06/09/2022
Shin-Kiba 1st RING
??? Fans – Withheld

1. SAGAT defeated Lil’ Kraken with the Goregrind (9:41).
2. Basara Strange Style Jacket 3 Way Match: Gouma defeated Ryota Nakatsu and Fuminori Abe by Double Knockout after Nakatsu and Abe knocked each other out (R3 1:26).
3. Takumi Tsukamoto, Yasu Urano & Minoru Fujita defeated FUMA, Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi & Daichi Kazato when Tsukamoto pinned Kazato with the Swivel Zudon (13:37).
4. IRON FIST Tag Titles: Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino defeated Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga (c) when Nakano pinned Oosugi after the Combined Swan Dive Body Scissors Drop (14:43).
*Speed Of Sounds fails in V7. Aijin Tag becomes the 6th IRON FIST Tag Champions!
5. Union MAX Title: Isami Kodaka (c) defeated Daiki Shimomura with the Isamiashi Zan (20:03).
*V2 for Isami Kodaka.

The Union MAX Title was on the line between two members of Sento Minzoku. The figurehead of the unit Isami Kodaka blocked Daiki Shimomura’s Swanton Bomb with his knees, cutting off the challenger’s best chance at winning the match. Shimomura still kept fighting and gave a final roar before Kodaka put a stop to him with the Isamiashi Zan. The two of them were joined by Minoru Fujita after the match, marking the first time in a while all active members of Sento Minzoku were in the ring together. They wished the fans “Peace & Fuck” to end the show.

Aijin Tag have finally beaten Speed Of Sounds to win the IRON FIST Tag Titles! They came up with a new double team move to do it too. Masato Kamino lifted Tsutomu Oosugi up for a Power Bomb and Takato Nakano flew into him with a Swan Dive Lou Thesz Press. Banana Senga told the new champions he is looking forward to seeing them defend the belts. He also told them not to lose the titles until SOS challenge them for the rematch.

Daichi Kazato approached Aijin Tag after the show asking for a title shot on 24th September. He implied he wanted to fight both of them on his own. They will accept the challenge if Kazato can find a tag partner in time.

The rankings for BASARA’s Jacket matches have gone topsy turvy over today’s result. It was a 3 Way match between Ryota Nakatsu, Fuminori Abe and Gouma. Nakatsu and Abe ended up knocking each other out while fighting over money that Gouma threw at them so Gouma was declared the winner. Gouma moved all the way from 15th to 1st in the rankings because of the win. Nakatsu dropped from 1st down to 2nd and Abe went from 4th to 5th.

The Heaven Summit ~Itadaki~ tournament returns in October. The opening show will be held on 11th October and more details will be revealed at a later date.

Cheering, hanging up banners and throwing streamers were all allowed on today’s show.

BASARA “BASARA 199 ~GLITTER~”, 06/09/2022
Shin-Kiba 1st RING

1. IRON FIST Tag Titles: Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga (c) Vs Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino
2. Union MAX Title: Isami Kodaka (c) Vs Daiki Shimomura

Last week Isami Kodaka defended the Union MAX Title against Gunso at the annual BASARA/Dove Pro summer meet. With that out of the way, Kodaka accepted Daiki Shimomura’s challenge for the next title shot.

Speed Of Sounds already defended the IRON FIST Tag Titles against Aijin Tag back in April. Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino are nothing if not persistent though. They keep wanting as many chances to beat SOS as they can to finally win the belts. Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga admire their determination and do like wrestling them so another title match is going ahead.

DDT “WHO’S GONNA TOP? 2022”, 25/09/2022
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Special Tag Match: Osamu Nishimura & Shinichiro Kawamatsu Vs Akito & Yukio Naya
2. DDT Universal Title: Yuki Ueno (c) Vs Cara Noir
3. KO-D Openweight Title: Kazusada Higuchi (c) Vs Konosuke Takeshita

We’re getting a legislator tag team of Osamu Nishimura & Shinichiro Kawamatsu! Ota Ward was host to Kawamatsu’s debut match so it’s only fair for he and Nishimura to step into the ring again over at Nishimura’s home of Bunkyo Ward. That means they’re heading to Korakuen Hall together. Akito & Yukio Naya were chosen to be their opponents.

DDT “GET ALIVE 2022”, 12/10/2022

Makoto Oishi’s 20th Anniversary is a great time to revive Men’s Club! He’s bringing in MEN’S Teioh & Shiori Asahi to take on the new generation represented by The 37KAMIINA.

Yuki Ishida is not getting a similar amount of pomp and circumstance for his one year anniversary. He’s getting a first time singles match against Danshoku Dieno.

BASARA “BASARA 198 ~TAKAGARI 11~” Results

August 20, 2022

BASARA “BASARA 198 ~TAKAGARI 11~”, 20/08/2022
Takashimadaira Ward Community Center
??? Fans – Withheld

1. Jun Masaoka defeated Lil’ Kraken with the Ambitions (11:36).
2. Takumi Tsukamoto, Fuminori Abe & Thanomsak Toba defeated FUMA, KUBITO & Daichi Kazato when Abe submitted Kazato with the Manjigatame (11:46).
3. Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino defeated Ryota Nakatsu & SAGAT when Nakano pinned Nakatsu with a Cradle (13:02).
4. Daiki Shimomura defeated Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi with the Swanton Bomb (15:12).
5. IRON FIST Tag Titles: Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga (c) defeated Isami Kodaka & Yuko Miyamoto when Oosugi pinned Kodaka with teh Tsuki no Ishi (19:23).
*V6 for Speed Of Sounds.

Isami Kodaka blamed his team’s loss in the main event over his ring gear. His usual Yankee Two Kenju costume got damaged and when he ordered a replacement costume it came in grey when he asked for them to be black. In hindsight he realized that was a bad sign he & Yuko Miyamoto were going to lose today. Both of them felt nostalgic fighting against Speed Of Sounds again so they are happy with the match despite losing. SOS agrees and would like to fight Yankee Two Kenju again but not often. Like in 20 years time.

At the end of the show Takato Nakano & Masato Kamino came out and challenged SOS for the IRON FIST Tag Titles. SOS pointed out that Aijin Tag has never beaten them before and they’ve failed to win the IRON FIST Tag Titles from them twice, once in each of their title reigns. Nakano understands that but believes he and Kamino will win the next time. Senga appreciated their courage and accepted their challenge as long as they think they can surpass their last match. The title defence will happen on 6th September.

Daiki Shimomura has made it known he wants a shot at the Union MAX Title. He’s been in a lot of singles matches this year for BASARA and they’ve been going well for him. After beating Trans-Am ★ Hiroshi he wants to use this momentum to earn himself a title match.
