6. DDT Extreme Title – BLT (Buckets, Ladders & Tonkachi) Match: Isami Kodaka (c) defeated Sexxxy Eddy with the Zan Isamu Leg (20:52).
*V1 for Isami Kodaka.

Even though Sexxxy Eddy did not win the DDT Extreme Title, he did win over the fans with his gutsy performance. Buckets (trash cans), Ladders, Tables and the dreaded Tonkachi were all used during the match. Eddy earned the highlight of the night by placing one of the buckets over his body and Moonsaulting onto Isami Kodaka. However, Kodaka was able to handle everything his challenger could throw at him and left Osaka with the DDT Extreme Championship still wrapped around his waist.

Black Buffalo rubbed Mio Shirai the wrong way by calling her and Ken Ohka a married couple. Mio corrected him and said she is Ohka’s master, nothing else. Despite her opinion on the matter, she was heard shouting “Do your best, Ohka!” to her tag team partner during the most dramatic moment of the match. Her encouraging words were helpful enough for the mismatched pair to score the upset win.

4. BJW Tag Team Title: Isami Kodaka & Yuko Miyamoto (c) Vs Kazuki Hashimoto & Takumi Tsukamoto

The main event for the Union 10/2 show in Shin-Kiba will be something for fans of Big Japan Wrestling to look forward to. Isami Kodaka has invited his tag team partner Yuko Miyamoto over to Union to defend their BJW Tag Team Championship against Kazuki Hashimoto & Takumi Tsukamoto. Isami is currently a double champion. He recently won the DDT Extreme Title and has held the BJW Tag Title with Miyamoto since May 2011.

The Union and Big Japan crossover does not stop there. Union announced that they will be hosting a joint show with Big Japan at Shinjuku FACE on 29th March. At the press conference where the news was announced, Ken Ohka said the Union Vs Big Japan rivalry will be a lot like the New Japan Pro Wrestling Vs UWF International feud from 1995. Meanwhile, Yuko Miyamoto said he wanted to have a DDT Extreme Title match with his friend Isami sometime in the future. There was also a mention of Cherry taking on a female Death Match Champion named Toka Kobayashi. Hmmm, that name sounds familiar…

The show will also have the debut match of New Sanshiro Takagi. The original Sanshiro Takagi has seen his workload for both DDT and Union in 2012 become too much to handle, so he has brought along Keizo Matsuda of IWA Japan to literally take his place in Union for the time being. This is not the first time Matsuda has portrayed a duplicate. He was formerly Fake HG in HUSTLE.

6. Shuji Ishikawa & Shigehiro Irie defeated Daisuke Sekimoto & Kazuki Hashimoto when Ishikawa pinned Hashimoto with the Running Knee Lift (14:03).
7. DDT Extreme Title – TLC (Tonkachi, Ladders & Chairs): Isami Kodaka defeated El Generico (c) with the Rasengan (19:27).
*El Generico fails in V4. Isami Kodaka becomes the 17th DDT Extreme Champion!

Union had plenty to celebrate at the beginning of 2012 with Isami Kodaka winning back the DDT Extreme Title from El Generico in a Tonkachi, Ladders & Chairs match. After the hard fought match, Isami told Generico how fun it was to beat him in such an extreme battle. He then wished Generico farewell but was interrupted by Ken Ohka. Generico was challenged by Ohka to a match on 10th February, so the Generic Luchador will be sticking around in Union for at least a little while longer. Meanwhile Isami took centre stage and told the fans he now shared a bond with Kengo Mashimo from K-DOJO, KUDO from DDT and Abdullah Kobayashi from Big Japan. They are all champions who love to wrestle for their companies. Generico then congratulated Isami and said he is a true warrior deserving of the championship as the show drew to a close.

The first match for BIG “G” BANG was a rousing success. Shuji Ishikawa & Shigehiro Irie overcame the Strong BJ side of Daisuke Sekimoto & Kazuki Hashimoto. With this victory they gain momentum towards their future challenges.

Sanshiro Takagi & KENSO faced off for the first time since their No Rope Exploding Barbed Wire match at “WRESTLE EXPO 2006”. Takagi teamed with the brand new NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Champion Tsuyoshi Kikuchi to defeat KENSO and Yoshiaki Yago. The aftermath was very eventful as Kikuchi announced he was joining Union as a full-time wrestler. Takagi joked that Kikuchi had been thinking over his decision since last February. Takagi also talked about how he is so busy now that there needs to be a new Sanshiro Takagi to help take some of his workload. Takagi’s music hit and out came Keizo Matsuda of IWA Japan fame dressed as Takagi and performing his signature entrance.

NOSAWA Rongai & Io Shirai made a successful first defence of their Americas Mixed Tag Titles over the tsundere team of Ken Ohka & Mio Shirai. Despite their defeat, Mio admitted that she and Ken were starting to gel as a team. But she was adamant that it doesn’t change the dynamic of their “master and servant” relationship.

Big Morohashi has taken inspiration from the late, great Rick Rude and changed his ring name to Big Rude. After winning the 3 Way Tag match with Masao Orihara, the former Seiya Morohashi told his opponents “If you want to become the world’s best villain, you have to be rude!”

The gratuitous Twitter battle between Hiroshi Fukuda and RG opened the show. RG sang to Fukuda’s mentor and valet Rumi Kazama before the match began but the lyrics were about how overweight she was. Rumi tried to get revenge during the match with a steel chair, but RG ducked and Fukuda took the chairshot instead. As a result of his defeat, Fukuda and all of his 611 followers must now follow RG’s Twitter account.

4. Sanshiro Takagi & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi Vs KENSO & Yoshiaki Yago

6. Shuji Ishikawa & Shigehiro Irie Vs Daisuke Sekimoto & Kazuki Hashimoto
7. DDT Extreme Title – TLC (Tonkachi, Ladders & Chairs): El Generico (c) Vs Isami Kodaka

Union held its latest press conference in Shinjuku’s Dropkick Bar today to announce more news and matches for their big 3rd January show at Korakuen Hall. The conference began with Naomi Susan being joined by Isami Kodaka. Naomi told everyone she received an e-mail from El Generico about how he just defended the DDT Extreme Championship in Hawaii. Generico also said in the e-mail that he wanted his match against Kodaka to be fought under TLC rules. In this case the T in TLC does not stand for tables, but for Tonkachi which is a giant hammer previously used in Union by Chinese wrestler Cao Zhang. Isami said he wanted to win the belt back at any cost and accepted the TLC match.

After Kodaka’s portion was finished, the conference moved onto the new team of Shuji Ishikawa & Shigehiro Irie, together now known as BIG “G” BANG. The name is taken from a South Korean boy band for some reason.* It was then announced that Shuji & Irie will face Daisuke Sekimoto & Kazuki Hashimoto from Big Japan on 3rd January. Shuji & Daisuke are definitly no strangers to each other. It was Sekimoto who defeated Ishikawa to win the KO-D Openweight Title back in 2010. Irie described Sekimoto as being as strong as a gorilla. He compared his own strength to a dangerous bear that could kill a hippopotamus. Irie then said that hippos kill more people in Africa than any other animal, so that makes him very dangerous.

The Union show will be the second wrestling show taking place in Korakuen Hall on the 3rd. All Japan will have a show taking place earlier in the day with Kenny Omega defending the AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Title against Hiroshi Yamato in the semi-main. The Union show might be the fifth match Daisuke Sekimoto will have in Korakuen Hall in 3 days. He’s wrestling for ZERO-1 on the 1st, Big Japan & All Japan in the 2nd and finally All Japan and Union on the 3rd, all shows taking place in Korakuen. Crazy.

*Anyone else notice DDT’s trend of naming groups after musical acts lately?

El Generico Defends DDT Extreme Title In Hawaii

December 20, 2011

AZW “BATTLECLASH VII”, 19/12/11
FilCom Center, Waipahu, Hawaii

DDT Extreme Title: El Generico (c) defeated Kaimana.
*V3 for El Generico?

Not sure if this will be officially recognised by DDT and Union but El Generico successfully defended the DDT Extreme Championship when he defeated Kaimana at last night’s Action Zone Wrestling event in Hawaii. Not much information about the match is available right now except for a mention on both Generico and Kaimana’s Twitter accounts. With that little detour out of the way, Generico will return to Japan on 3rd January to face Isami Kodaka in a main event title match for “1…2…3…UNION!” in Korakuen Hall.

4. Masao Orihara & Big Morohashi defeated Mio Shirai & Ken Ohka when Morohashi pinned Shirai after a chairshot (12:14).
5. 6th Anniversary 9 Vs 1 Handicap Match: Shuji Ishikawa defeated Tsuyoshi Kikuchi, Kazuhiko Ogasawara, Poison Sawada, A. YAZAWA, Ryu Gouma, Chou-un Shiryu, Mecha Mummy Lite, Sister Akiko & Takeshi Minamino when Ishikawa pinned Shiryu with the Splash Mountain (10:31).
6. DDT Extreme Title – Falls Count Anywhere: El Generico (c) defeated Sanshiro Takagi with the Brainbustaaaaahhhhh!!!!! (23:21).
*V2 for El Generico.

The main event lived up to expectations. El Generico wanted to beat Sanshiro Takagi at his own game, so he made their DDT Extreme Title bout a Falls Count Anywhere match. The two brawled all over ringside in Shinjuku FACE with plenty of foreign items brought into play. Takagi brought along a guitar, but Generico took it off him and together they performed “Lullaby of the Jagged Heart” from Natsu No Arashi. Takagi “got a bythsickle” and hit Generico with a Lariat as he cycled past him. After 23 minutes of chaos, Generico hit his patented Turnbuckle Brainbuster to register his second defence of the belt. After the match, Generico said he would defend the title in a TLC match at Korakuen Hall on 3rd January. Ken Ohka, Cherry and Hiroshi Fukuda all pleaded to be the person challenging Generico but in the end, Naomi Susan chose Isami Kodaka to get his rematch with the champ. Generico said Isami had “Corazon de Leon” and he accepted the rematch.

A few after the show ended, Sanshiro Takagi announced that the TKG48 would be dissolved immediately.

The Union 6th Anniversary Handicap match saw Shuji Ishikawa defeat a team of nine wrestlers on his own. Despite the 9-on-1 advantage, the Union team spectacularly imploded as the match went on. Both Tsuyoshi Kikuchi and Kazuhiko Ogasawara forgot the rules of the match and fought each other instead of Ishikawa, Mecha Mummy Lite malfunctioned after getting a kiss from Sister Akiko and A. YAZAWA somehow choked himself unconcious with his own suspenders. This left Ishikawa free to give Chou-un Shiryu the Splash Mountain to win the match and celebrate 6 years of the Union brand.

Masao Orihara had an unusual disadvantage going into the tag match with Big Morohashi against Mio Shirai & Ken Ohka. Due to a threat of sexual harrassment, Orihara could not lay a finger on Shirai for longer than five seconds. This prevented him from using some of his signature moves such as the Spider German Suplex. However, Morohashi had a backup plan. Earlier in the day, Morohashi was seen ransacking Shirai’s luggage in the locker room. He placed something into a paper bag and left the scene before Mio could return. He promised to hand the paper bag back to Mio if her team won the match. Unfortunately for Mio, she was pinned by Morohashi after he swung a chair at Ken Ohka, who ducked and caused Mio to get hit instead. After the match, Orihara opened up the paper bag and took out underwear belonging to Mio! At least, that’s what he thought. Good Nurse Madoka quickly ran into the ring and grabbed the underwear from Morohashi. Turns out the underwear belonged to him! When Mio and Ohka were left alone in the ring, they wondered why they had a poor performance tonight. They both agreed it was because there was no championship to fight for and thus no motivation for competing in the ring.

Kengo Ohka and Shigehiro Irie enjoyed their match so much they both requested to have a rematch in the future.

Cherry, I mean Cosmic Warrior Sofia successfully defended her SGP Jr. Heavyweight Title against Apple Miyuki, I mean Cosmic Warrior Justine in a galactic Mask Vs Mask match. Sofia took advantage of Justine bumping into special ref Ultraman Robin and rolled her over with the Spring Night Love for the pin. Justine was not happy with the result and refused to shake Sofia’s hand. Justine then said she was not the strongest member of the Cosmic Warrior family, her mother Maido was. Out came GAMI to challenge Cherry/Sofia for a title shot. Cherry refused at first, saying GAMI was too old to wrestle for the belt. In the end it was decided that Cherry will face both Ultraman Robin and GAMI in a 3 Way match for the title on Union’s 14th December show at Shinjuku FACE.

Despite losing to Isami Kodaka in the opener, Hiroshi Fukuda presented a bouquet of flowers to Rumi Kazama and asked for her assistance in training. Kazama accepted and shook hands with Fukuda. The rookie pushed his luck and tried to hug her but it was rejected.

Union announced some matches for its final show of the year. The Shinjuku FACE event on 14th December will have Shuji Ishikawa and a mystery partner versus the Kensuke Office team of Katsuhiko Nakajima & Mitsuhiro Kitamiya, the 3 Way match for the SGP Jr. Title and Mio Shirai & Ken Ohka taking on the returning Russian wrestler Ivan Markov and his valet Bonnie. Union also announced it would hold two shows in Osaka during February 2012.
