A lot of bizarre names are being used as match titles. I’m sure that I mistranslated a bunch of them but the Engrish is quite fitting I think.

The gimmick match for the main event hasn’t been confirmed yet. However, there are rumours it will be a death match involving vipers, scorpions, lighttubes and roses.

The 5 Vs 5 Soccer match is taking place because of the Captain Tsubasa involvement Sanshiro Takagi set up earlier this month. The game was played in the ring with a beach ball and ended in a 5-5 draw after extra time.

Konosuke Takeshita is the newest addition to the DDT roster. He will be making his debut against the world renowned El Generico.

Tatsumi Fujinami and Yuzuki Aikawa are also expected to compete at the show.

7. DDT Extreme Title – Fluorescent Shop Death Match: Yuko Miyamoto (c) defeated Ken Ohka with the Manji Cobra (19:58).
*V1 for Yuko Miyamoto.

The day some people thought they would never see has finally come. Cherry, the resident female wrestler on the Union roster who has always claimed to be very young has revealed her true age. Cherry lost the Age Contra Makeup match to Emi Sakura, who was wrestling on behalf of an injured Mio Shirai. Cherry was defeated with one of her own signature moves as well as from some interference from Mio. Defeated, Cherry said she was born on 14th May, 1974 which makes her 37 years old going on 38. Cherry told the audience she debuted at 30 years old and did so because it was her dream to become a wrestler, no matter how old she was. Cherry’s passport was flashed onto the giant screen behind her to serve as confirmation while a ten bell salute took place in the background.

While at first Shirai thankful for Sakura winning the match, she wasn’t so thrilled with her when she asked if it was necessary for Cherry to reveal her age. Mio told Sakura and Kaori Yoneyama afterwards to “go back to Thailand” and then threatened them with deportation. She did give Cherry a sincere round of applause though.

That wasn’t all of the big news that took place. BIG “G” BANG have grabbed some gold and became the new BJW Tag Team Champions! The large pairing of Shuji Ishikawa & Shigehiro Irie were too much for Yoshihito Sasaki & Shinobu and they defeated the champions to bring a new prize into Union. Big Japan has already determined Abdullah Kobayashi & Ryuji Ito as the No. 1 Contenders for the Tag Title and they will travel to Union on 17th June to challenge for the belts. Speaking of Ishikawa and Kobayashi, they will be fighting each other tomorrow for the BJW Death Match Championship.

And of course there was the main event. Poor Ken Ohka. The man fights his heart out each and every time he enters the ring but rarely does he succeed. The odds of him winning the DDT Extreme Title from Yuko Miyamoto were stacked high from the beginning. They were to fight each other in a match that allowed flourescent lighttubes and Union merchandise to be used as weapons. Despite Miyamoto having an injured foot and Ohka’s attempts to attack it with DVDs, the challenger just could not win and was eventually submitted with a Manji Cobra. Ohka was in tears after the match, as he usually is, but he passionately thanked everyone for their support.

The 1990’s indie wrestlers involved in the battle between New Sanshiro Takagi and New Keizo Matsuda were Takashi Okano (IWA Japan), Death Min Ho (one of Poison Sawada’s first gimmicks), Kyoko Ichiki (IWA Japan & GAEA), Chiharu (AJW), Tsunehito Naito (UWF), Survival Tobita (plus Va-Gon the ape-man terrorising the audience) and finally Tarzan Goto (FMW). At first Goto sided with with New Matsuda until he decided to beat up both of them with chairs and win the match for himself. When he left, Takagi and Matsuda began to fight again. HARASHIMA arrived and got Takagi and Matsuda to shake hands and reconcile. But as they shook hands, they accidentaly bumped heads and knocked each other dizzy, possibly bringing an end to New Sanshiro Takagi & New Keizo Matsuda.

Despite being on the winning team, GENTARO was attacked and abducted by the Goro family after the match. Goro Tsurumi took off his shoes and put one of them over his hand before knocking out GENTARO with a Spinning Backfist.

Hiroshi Fukuda continues to learn that love can hurt people. He lost to Rion Mizuki and Rumi Kazama in a Handicap Of Love match. For most of it Fukuda refused to lay a hand on Kazama while she kept trying to knock some sense into him. He finally began to fight and even delivered the Perfect Plex, only for Kazama to kick out at one. Kazama was then able to lock on her version of a Dragon Sleeper to submit her lovesick protege. After the match, Fukuda accepted the fact that Mizuki and Kazama are a couple but asked Rumi to kick him in the head one more time. She did so and then she kissed him on the cheek before all three left the ring together.

The relationship between Union and Big Japan will continue with another joint show set to take place on 18th July in Shin-Kiba 1st RING.

Then we have what will be one of the big DDT shows of the year. Masa Takanashi has the seemingly impossible task of defending the KO-D Openweight Title against Yuji Hino. Masa would have to pull out a miracle performance similar to the one he pulled against Daisuke Sekimoto in 2009, and then some to beat the Crying Wolf powerhouse. We will also see who out of HARASHIMA, KUDO and Yasu Urano will be next to to challenge for the belt. Plus the wait is finally over. Kota Ibushi returns and faces El Generico in what everyone is hoping will be a match for the ages. Also Keisuke Ishii will be flying the flag for DDT and defending their honour against All Japan’s KAI. Finally we could see New World Japan unveiling their newest member, at least if Sanshiro Takagi is able to find one.

However, Mio will be attending the show and she will still be forced to remove her makeup if Emi loses the match to Cherry. If Emi wins, then Mio still gets the satisfaction of forcing Cherry to reveal her real age.

Updates For Golden Union

April 28, 2012

UNION “GOLDEN UNION 2012”, 04/05/2012
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

0. Union League Experiment: Madoka & Taichi Kazato Vs Masked Mystery & SAGAT
1. Handicap Match Of Love: Hiroshi Fukuda Vs Rion Mizuki & Rumi Kazama
2. Goro Tsurumi, El Hijo del Goro & Goro Jr Vs Big Rude, Black Spider Clutch & GENTARO
3. Age Contra Makeup: Cherry Vs Mio Shirai
4. 90’s Indie Wrestler Weapon Rumble: New Sanshiro Takagi Vs New Keizo Matsuda
5. Hiro Tsumaki Triumph: Hiro Tsumaki & Kengo Ohka Vs Isami Kodaka & El Generico
6. BJW Tag Team Title: Yoshihito Sasaki & Shinobu (c) Vs Shuji Ishikawa & Shigehiro Irie
7. DDT Extreme Title – Fluorescent Shop Death Match: Yuko Miyamoto (c) Vs Ken Ohka

Yuko Miyamoto and Ken Ohka for the DDT Extreme Title now has its stipulation match chosen by the champion. Miyamoto originally said he wanted to have a Fluorescent Lighttube Death Match but Ohka said it was unfair because he has only ever been in two of those kind of matches. Both men made a compromise and decided to make it a Fluorescent Shop Death Match. That means that both fluorescent lighttubes and what I guess will be either items from the merchandise table or items associated with cooking (when not wrestling, Ohka works for DDT’s bar restaurant) are allowed to be used in the match. Miyamoto will not be 100% going into the match. He fractured the big toe on his left foot earlier this month after Moonsaulting from the top of a ladder during a match. Ohka said that he is jealous of Miyamoto because he is married and has a family. However, Ohka also said that Union is his family and he will win back the title for them.

The battle between New Sanshiro Takagi & New Keizo Matsuda will turn into a blast from the past for fans of indie sleaze wrestling. Both wrestlers have been told to invite notable indie wrestlers from the 1990s to help them in a Weapons Rumble style match. The idea is that as the match goes on, a different wrestler will enter the ring after a set period of time and interfere on behalf of the wrestler who chose them. Regular Sanshiro Takagi appeared at the press conference for this event and said he will be paying a lot of money to certain wrestlers to join his side for the match. He thinks his financial strength will be the key to defeating his doppelganger.

Hiroshi Fukuda gave some comments on his Handicap Match of Love against Rion Mizuki & Rumi Kazama. After defeating Mizuki at “MARCH OF THE UNION 2012” last month, he was shocked to find him and Kazama kissing each other afterwards. Now he is determined to defeat Mizuki with the Perfect Plex and rescue Kazama from his clutches. Fukuda also said that in this day and age the best way to indicate the value of a person is by looking at how many Twitter followers they have. Fukuda now has around 850 followers and he thinks he reached that milestone thanks to Kazama and her influences on his training.

Speaking of Twitter, remember to follow @DramaticDDT. What? I might as well shill it when the opportunity pops up.

BIG “G” BANG Title Shot, Olé Yankee, GENTARO’s Family Grudge

April 19, 2012

UNION “GOLDEN UNION 2012”, 04/05/2012
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

0. Union League Experiment: Madoka, SAGAT
1. Handicap Match Of Love: Hiroshi Fukuda Vs Rion Mizuki & Rumi Kazama
2. Goro Tsurumi, El Hijo del Goro & Goro Jr Vs Big Rude, Black Spider Clutch & GENTARO
3. Age Contra Makeup: Cherry Vs Mio Shirai
4. New Sanshiro Takagi Vs New Keizo Matsuda
5. Hiro Tsumaki Triumph: Hiro Tsumaki & Kengo Ohka Vs Isami Kodaka & El Generico
6. BJW Tag Team Title: Yoshihito Sasaki & Shinobu (c) Vs Shuji Ishikawa & Shigehiro Irie
7. DDT Extreme Title – ??? Match: Yuko Miyamoto (c) Vs Ken Ohka

As DDT Extreme Champion, Yuko Miyamoto gets to decide what match he and Ken Ohka will have for the belt. He will announce it sometime before the show takes place.

Back at the Big Japan/Union joint show, BIG “G” BANG defeated Yoshihito Sasaki & Shinobu in a hotly contested match-up. Since then, Sasaki & Shinobu have become the BJW Tag Team Champions. Due to their victory over the new champions, Shuji Ishikawa & Shigehiro Irie have now been given a title shot that will take place in Union. This match takes place a day before Ishikawa faces Abdullah Kobayashi for the BJW Death Match Title at Big Japan’s biggest show of the year. So Shuji could wind up with two Big Japan titles in two days.

Isami Kodaka is looking forward to teaming with El Generico for the first time. After their battles over the Extreme Title, he now thinks they will have a lot of fun tagging together. However, Isami does not have the same views on Kengo Ohka. He doesn’t exactly hate Kengo, it’s more of a strong dislike of the man. The wild card of the match is Hiro Tsumaki, who has been absent from Union for several months. Turns out he spent his time away from Union by wrestling for Okinawa Pro. Kodaka does not know what Tsumaki has learned during his time in Okinawa or what to expect from his return. Even though the match is titled “Hiro Tsumaki Triumph” Isami also wants the match to be called “Union Next Stage.”

Big Rude abducted GENTARO in an attempt to have him wrestle against the Tsurumi family. During the press conference for the event, Big Rude brought in a blindfolded GENTARO into the room and over to the table before revealing what he wanted from him. GENTARO has a bad history with Goro Tsurumi and his two sons. Their grudge began over an incident involving vegetable oil that took place in Mexico many years ago. GENTARO agreed to help Rude fight the Tsumaki clan and Black Spider Clutch has also been added to their team. GENTARO said he heard a rumour that Clutch once ate a baby. That’s probably not the most reassuring thing to tell someone who will be tagging with the guy.

The Union League Experiment continues with at least Madoka and SAGAT involved in the latest offering. It has not been decided yet if anymore wrestlers will be involved on the night.

2. Handicap Match Of Love: Hiroshi Fukuda Vs Rion Mizuki & Rumi Kazama
3. Age Contra Makeup: Cherry Vs Mio Shirai
4. DDT Extreme Title: Yuko Miyamoto (c) Vs Ken Ohka

On his 35th birthday, Ken Ohka became the No. 1 Contender for the DDT Extreme Championship. The eternal underdog is now getting the rest of Union cheering him on when he goes up against Yuko Miyamoto. But all of Ohka’s momentum and enthusiasm might be dashed once Miyamoto announces what sort of match they will have for the DDT Extreme Title.

Cherry’s age is at risk of being revealed yet again. Mio Shirai is determined to have Cherry reveal her secret and has challenged her to a match over it. Cherry accepted but turned the tables by daring Mio to go out without makeup should she lose. This will be a match where the greatest stakes are on the line. Neither will want to lose.

Hiroshi Fukuda’s relationship problems continue to get worse. Not only did Rumi Kazama ditch him for Rion Mizuki, now Hiroshi has to face both of them in a Handicap match. Will his feelings for Rumi get in the way or will he be able to move on with his life and defeat Rion Mizuki.

Also taking part in this show are Hiro Tsumaki, El Generico and American wrestler Barking Spider Clutch (or Kurokumo Clutch as some Japanese sites call him).

5a. 6-Man Tag Team Match: Isami Kodaka, Big Rude & Ken Ohka defeated Shuji Ishikawa, Shigehiro Irie & Cao Zhang when Isami pinned Irie (17:54).
5b. 3 Way Elimination Match: Ken Ohka defeated Big Rude and Isami Kodaka (6:36).
– Ken Ohka eliminated Big Rude with a German Suplex (2:59).
– Ken Ohka eliminated Isami Kodaka with two Spears Of Fire (6:36).

Ken Ohka surprised everyone when he was the last man standing in the DDT Extreme Survivor Challenge. The challenge was split into two parts. It began as a Six Man Tag Team match. The winning team would then face each other in a 3 Way Elimination match. Shockingly, Ken Ohka was able to defeat both of his partners, Big Rude and Isami Kodaka to win the challenge and earn a shot at Yuko Miyamoto and the DDT Extreme Title. Shuji Ishikawa is putting his faith in Ohka and promises to build up support for him when he faces Miyamoto.

Princess Makoto and Mio Shirai were fighting over the non-existant Union Sexy Championship during their tag team match.

Goro Tsurumi made an appearance after his two sons made a successful Japanese debut. He called out GENTARO and had his two sons ambush him. GENTARO managed to escape when he escaped Tsurumi’s grasp and ducked a Backblow from Goro Jr.

GAMI told Cherry that her passport has been sent over to an Executive Director she knows. Unfortunately GAMI does not remember his name or address. Meanwhile, Cherry Vs Mio Shirai is set for “GOLDEN UNION 2012” in Korakuen Hall on 4th May. This time if Mio Shirai loses, she will have to make her next appearance without wearing any make-up. You know how some women look completely different without make-up? Yeah, this could potentially get nasty and ruin fantasies for some people.

Hiro Tsumaki will return to Union on 4th May.

7. DDT Extreme Title – Fluorescent Lighttubes Death Match: Yuko Miyamoto defeated Isami Kodaka (c) with the Swivel Fire Thunder (15:12).
*Isami Kodaka fails in V2. Yuko Miyamoto becomes the 18th DDT Extreme Champion!

Union and Big Japan Wrestling may or may not be at war with each other but their relationship has gotten to the point where a DDT championship is now in the hands of Big Japan. Yuko Miyamoto defeated his long time friend Isami Kodaka to win the DDT Extreme Championship in the main event of Union and BJW’s cross-promoted show in Shinjuku FACE. Both men fought in a Fluorescent Lighttubes Death Match, the first time such a match took place in the building. There were no hard feelings after the match, after all Miyamoto & Kodaka currently hold the BJW Tag Team Championship together. In fact, after the match Miyamoto kept on saying how much fun he had at the show and he asked Naomi Susan if Union and Big Japan could hold more joint shows in the future. Susan spoke to Big Japan rep Eiji Tosaka after the show and admitted she was frustrated to see Union lose a championship to Big Japan. However, she also thought the joint show was an interesting experiment.

BIG “G” BANG built some momentum going into their seperate championship bouts next month by defeating a tag team that featured the winner of Big Japan’s recent Ikkitousen tournament. Shuji Ishikawa & Shigehiro Irie continued their winning ways with a victory over Yoshihito Sasaki & Shinobu, a team that lives by the tagline “Good Friends, Better Enemies.” The action did not stop at the end when the bell rang and a brawl broke out between the two sides.

Look at the result for Match #5. Yes, you read that right. Ken Ohka won a Hardcore match against Big Japan death match wrestlers! It all happened when Kankuro Hoshino placed Ohka on top of a ladder and climbed up top for the Diving Senton. Ohka rolled out of the way and after Hoshino landed on top of the ladder, Ohka hit his patented Spear Of The Flame to get the three count. Ken now thinks that he and Kengo Ohka make for a natural tag team together.

If you think that Sanshiro Takagi does not appear in Union enough then the Sanshiro Takagi Battle Royal is just the match for you! There were not enough Sanshiro Takagi taking part in the Sanshiro Takagi Battle Royal, so one more Sanshiro Takagi was added to the line up. Big Buddy Sanshiro Takagi (Yuji Okabayashi) was the last Takagi standing, defeating the original Sanshiro Takagi and four other dopplegangers. The Secret Sanshiro Takagi was Mototsugu Shimizu. The Secret in that name stood for Secret Base, Shimizu’s home promotion.

Big Rude and Jaki Numazawa fought each other in an I Quit Match with a difference. Rather than forcing the opponent to say “I quit”, the aim of the match was for each wrestler to force his opponent to say their own sponsor’s name. Both Big Rude and Numazawa are spokesmen for seperate products and have sponsorships from the companies when they wrestle. Big Rude is sponsored by Svenson, a company that specialises in hair restoration products. Numazawa meanwhile is sponsored by Propia, who make shampoo, make up and, I’m not making this up, fake facial hair. Numazawa won the match when he placed Rude in a Camel Clutch and forced him to shout “Propia!”

The official show report on DDT’s website says the Great Kojika and Cherry “graced the opening match in the wisdom of age”. I bet Cherry will be offended when she reads that line.
