0. King Of Dark Title: Tomomitsu Matsunaga & Saki Akai defeated Nobuhiro Shimatani (c) & Cherry when Matsunaga pinned Shimatani with the Back Drop (6:33).
*D6 for Nobuhiro Shimatani.
1. Kazuki Hirata defeated Shunma Katsumata with the One Shot Miracle Cradle (9:54).
2. He Is That Guy And He Is Me: Akito defeated Rekka with the Scorpion Lock (10:49).
3. 3 Way Match: Makoto Oishi defeated Daisuke Sasaki and Soma Takao when Oishi pinned Takao with the Jikiden Tornado Clutch (8:20).
4. Yoshihiro Takayama & Kazusada Higuchi defeated Toru Owashi & Gota Ihashi when Takayama pinned Ihashi with a Big Boot (0:06).
4a. Rematch: Yoshihiro Takayama & Kazusada Higuchi defeated Toru Owashi & Gota Ihashi when Takayama pinned Ihashi with the Running Knee Lift (6:02).
5. Tetsuya Endo & Mad Paulie defeated Yukio Sakaguchi & Masahiro Takanashi when Paulie pinned Takanashi with the Paulie Buster (12:03).
6. Prelude To A Healthy Television Match: Danshoku Dino, Keisuke Ishii & Guanchulo defeated Konosuke Takeshita, Mike Bailey & Antonio Honda when Dino pinned Honda with the Danshoku Driver (11:24).
7. Special Tag Match: HARASHIMA & Yasu Urano defeated Shigehiro Irie & Kouki Iwasaki when HARASHIMA pinned Iwasaki with the Somato (14:07).

Shigehiro Irie gave HARASHIMA a thumbs down after the main event. HARASHIMA called the match just a preview of what will happen on Christmas Day and he will win just like he did today.

Danshoku Dino & Keisuke Ishii now have to nothing to be afraid of after they beat a trio featuring the KO-D Tag Team Champions. Ishii thinks their odds of winning the titles tomorrow are at 80% and predicts they will win in 8 minutes. Mike Bailey did not like wrestling against Dino but not because Dino is gay, Bailey thinks Dino grabbing a woman in the ring the same way he did to him would be just as disgusting. Konosuke Takeshita ensured Bailey that he would fight Dino so Bailey could just fight Ishii.

Daisuke Sasaki gave Shuten-dōji one more warning that DAMNATION will destroy them at the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Title match tomorrow.

Gota Ihashi had his face painted to look like Don Frye so he could reenact the famous fight with Yoshihiro Takayama. He was immediately pinned after a Big Boot and the Pride FC victory music played over the sound system. A rematch took place and Takayama pinned Ihashi again this time with the Running Knee Lift.

Makoto Oishi knows that his win over Daisuke Sasaki and Soma Takao in the 3 Way Match was a fluke. However he needs all the confidence boost he can get to prepare for Jun Kasai. He will beat Kasai even if it is a fluke.

In a callback to their previous King Of Dark Title match, Saki Akai demanded that this time Cherry should be given the championship if she lost the pre-show match. Luckily for her, Nobuhiro Shimatani was pinned again so he stays as champion.

1. Tokyo Joshi Pro Offer Match: Miyu Yamashita & Rika Tatsumi defeated Shoko Nakajima & Maho Kurone when Tatsumi submitted Kurone with the Dragon Sleeper (9:50).
2. NωA Vs DDT Ramen & Ebisuko Allies: Makoto Oishi & MAO defeated Akito & Gota Ihashi when MAO pinned Ihashi with the Never Give Up☆Guillotine Drop (10:01).

Bad weather did little to dampen NωA’s excitement for this outdoor show. They performed their second single “Going My Way!!! ~You Are Not Alone~” to a live audience for the first time. Shunma Katsumata wrote the lyrics, MAO composed the music and Makoto Oishi planned the choreography. When the performance was over Oishi & MAO took part in a Falls Count Anywhere match against Akito & Gota Ihashi. Before the match began Ihashi asked Oishi why was he acting like an idol when he is old enough to be MAO’s uncle? He then made up some new lyrics making fun of NωA. That sparked a fight that went into the crowd before returning to the mat area. MAO hit his leap frog Never Give Up☆Guillotine Drop on Ihashi for the three count. NωA ended the show with an encore of “Going My Way!!! ~You Are Not Alone~”.

A day before Rika Tatsumi challenges for the TOKYO Princess Of Princess Title she scored a submission victory over the scary rookie Maho Kurone. Tatsumi appealed to the crowd to come see her win Tokyo Joshi Pro’s championship in Yokohama tomorrow.

1. Glove Match: Saki Akai defeated Gota Ihashi by Disqualification when Ihashi took off his tights (R3 3:00) (Special Referee: KUDO)
2. Gatoh Move Rules: Emi Sakura & “Kotori” defeated Masako Takanashi & Cherry when “Kotori” pinned Takanashi with the Morning Star (15:59).
3. Scary Story That Surrounds Yukio Sakaguchi: Yukio Sakaguchi defeated Kouki Iwasaki with the Cobra Clutch (15:45).
Scary Story Order: DJ Nira, Kouki Iwasaki, Soma Takao, Danshoku Dino, Daisuke Kiso, Makoto Oishi.
4. Mike Bailey defeated Kota Umeda with the Shooting Star Double Knee Drop (19:58).

Kota Umeda found it difficult to face his Shuten-dōji brethren after his loss to Mike Bailey. Umeda was frustrated that he lost the main event of his unit’s show. However he will look back on this failure to draw strength and become stronger. The closing call was interrupted by Tomomitsu Matsunaga, Gota Ihashi and Kouki Iwasaki. It was on this day one year ago that the three formed a unit called Booing 2015 for the DDT Dramatic General Election. The unit came last in the election and was forced to split up as a result. All three members secretly held a grudge ever since and it was now time for revenge! They attacked KUDO and soaked him with water but KUDO hit back with Middle Kicks and Spin Kicks. This was the first time this year that KUDO got to kick people in the ring again and to him it was like he was never gone. Yukio Sakaguchi then knocked out Ihashi with the Right Knee Of God. It was announced afterwards that Booing 2015 was splitting up again.

One of the highlights of Beer Garden every year is at some point we get a ghost story. This year the goal was to scare Yukio Sakaguchi with a spooky tale. Sakaguchi refused to be involved but was forced by the others to enter the ring. The lights went out and Danshoku Dino took out a flashlight. He shined it over his face and explained the challenge to Sakaguchi. Different wrestlers will enter the ring Royal Rumble style and it’s up to them to scare Sakaguchi with their tales of horror. Sakaguchi will have to pin or submit someone to stop the stories and end the match. DJ Nira snuck up to Sakaguchi and gave him a fright to start the contest. Nira began his story about a summer beach camp but Sakaguchi jumped on him. Kouki Iwasaki was next but his story about the old inn next to the old high school was also cut short. Soma Takao wanted to tell his tale based on a real life experience with a futon but Sakaguchi wanted none of it. At this point Sakaguchi was so scared he was lying down flat on the canvas. Dino then produced pictures of Keisuke Ishii’s parents onto the screen behind them followed by a loud scream. Sakaguchi flipped out and attacked everyone in the ring until Dino caught him in a Lip Lock. Daisuke Kiso was going to count Sakaguchi out but stopped himself because it was his turn to tell a story. His story involved an apartment dweller watching a policeman drag a woman smeared with blood into his car. It ended up scaring everybody in the room. Makoto Oishi was the final entrant but his story was actually just him gossiping about a wrestling buddy who went on a date that ended with a night in a hotel last Christmas Eve. Dino asked what made that a scary story? Oishi said it’s because the woman lied about liking his friend and that’s scary. Sakaguchi finally had enough and put Iwasaki in the Cobra Clutch so he could end the damn contest. Sakaguchi said he probably felt okay after that. He held a toast for the fans but was interrupted by a blackout followed by a distorted video on the screen of a creepy woman saying “Cheers”.

Saki Akai taunted Gota Ihashi before their Glove Match by saying she likes a strong man, so that’s why she asked KUDO to be there as the referee. Despite the size and weight difference, Akai wiped the floor with Ihashi for most of the match. Maybe Ihashi was too enamoured to do anything or maybe it’s his Homer Simpson Syndrome kicking in but he was knocked down over and over. Ihashi tried to clinch Akai when he could. Not to slow down the match but just so he could hug her. He even knocked down KUDO with a punch when he tried to seperate them. Ihashi then Body Slammed Akai and hit a Body Press when KUDO wasn’t looking. He took off his tights but KUDO saw this and disqualified him for his lewd antics. Ihashi knocked him down with another punch but that caused Sakaguchi to come in and hit Ihashi with the Right Knee Of God.

judgement2016-preview

DDT celebrates the 19th year of its existence with the first of two visits to Sumo Hall in 2016. After drawing a disappointing number back in August, they have packed this card with everything they have in their arsenal. Spin offs BASARA, DNA and Tokyo Joshi Pro all have spots on the pre-show so there is a sense of DDT getting everybody they can on their rosters onto the show in a WrestleMania kind of manner. Things to look forward to this year are the aces of DDT and BASARA facing off, one man and his dog chasing after tag team gold, sumo being challenged by the power of asses, two grumpy fighters being grumpy to each other, the return of a Golden Star to shine over the least wanted feud in wrestling, the presence of a Dragon and his son and the most extreme PowerPoint presentation known to mankind.

0. King Of Dark Title: Seiya Morohashi (c) & Hoshitango Vs DJ Nira & Dai Suzuki

Seiya Morohashi has the unwanted honour of defending the King Of Dark Title at one of DDT’s biggest shows of the year. The belt has been in existence for over a year now and has been a nightmare for everyone who held it. Morohashi needs to pin either DJ Nira or Dai Suzuki to transfer the belt to them and escape from dark match hell.

0. Tokyo Joshi Pro Offer Battle Royal: Miyu Yamashita Vs Shoko Nakajima Vs Yuka Sakazaki Vs Nonoko Vs Rika Tatsumi Vs Hyper Misao Vs Azusa Takigawa Vs Yuu Vs Nodoka-onesan Vs Marika Kobashi Vs Ai Shimizu Vs Poison Miura Vs KANNA

The girls from Tokyo Joshi Pro take the stage with a Battle Royal. Miyu Yamashita is currently leading the brand as the first and only TOKYO Princess Of Princess Champion. She doesn’t have a No. 1 Contender at the moment so the winner here might grab that spot.

0. DNA Offer Match – Mao Inoue Comeback: Shunma Katsumata, Guanchulo & Mao Inoue Vs Kouki Iwasaki, Rainbow Kawamura & Nobuhiro Shimatani

The rookie brand DDT New Attitude has been a highlight for DDT throughout the year. The shows are uploaded to DDT’s official Youtube channel and are a great showcase for the younger and newer talent. In fact two thirds of the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions are captaining the two teams in this match. Shunma Katsumata is teaming with his Chilean amigo Guanchulo and the returning Mao Inoue. Inoue debuted at “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2015” and is one of the more flashier wrestlers in DNA. But a jaw injury at “OSAKA OCTOPUS 2015” in November put him on the shelf. On the other side, one-third champ Kouki Iwasaki has the now more colourful Rainbow Kawamura and recently debuting Nobuhiro Shimatani to partner with.

0. Pro Wrestling BASARA Offer Match: Takumi Tsukamoto, Daichi Kazato & Ryu Gouma Vs FUMA, Yusuke Kubo & SAGAT

It’s been go, go, go for Pro Wrestling BASARA since its first show earlier this year. As a replacement for Union, BASARA put together a much busier schedule than its predecessor and the shows held so far have been a success. One of the main storylines going on right now is FUMA’s obsession for heavy metal music resulting in the creation of Kotetsu Gundan. FUMA wants to spread around his love of heavy metal and convinced the now masked Yusuke Kubo and a slightly confused Madoka to join his cause. FUMA won’t shut up and it’s starting to annoy the rest of BASARA. Takumi Tsukamoto has a massive hammer to smash FUMA’s mouth shut, Daichi Kazato has a megaphone to drown out the noise and Ryu Gouma has his lawbook so surely he can find something to declare FUMA’s antics as noise pollution.

1. Ryogoku First Appearance! Next KO-D Openweight Title Challenger Decision And Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Battle Royal: Toru Owashi Vs Kazuki Hirata Vs Masa Takanshi Vs Soma Takao Vs Tomomitsu Matsunaga Vs Kazusada Higuchi Vs Gorgeous Matsuno Vs Cherry Vs Ryuichi Sekine Vs Ryota Nakatsu Vs Yoshihiko Vs Ken Ohka

The show starts off proper with the annual Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere match appearing in Sumo Hall for the first time. It is a combination of a Money In The Bank Ladder Match and the Royal Rumble. The winner of the Rumble itself gets a guaranteed KO-D Openweight Title shot at Korakuen Hall on 24th April. However the competitors can instead try and claim one of several contracts held high above the ring. Those who grab a contract then leave the match with a prize. This year the prize is a MITB style title shot for any show from 26th March to 28th August, the date of the next Sumo Hall event. But this being DDT things are not always that simple. Rules can change but based on previous years the contract holder is forced to defend the contract in every single match they appear in until the contract is cashed in. This way the contract holder cannot just rest on their laurels and accept defeat after defeat knowing that they can claim an easy title shot whenever they want (see WWE booking). Plus it’s a bit unfair for the champion to have up to 4 or 5 people waiting to ambush him at any time so this concept keeps the roster scrambling amongst themselves for a few months.

After a string of wins including a Battle Royal victory, Kazuki Hirata offered to take the No. 1 entry spot in the match. He originally demanded to enter last but was convinced all of the contracts would be gone by the time he enters. So he’s entering first to grab a contract as soon as possible. He also has new heart shaped HIRATA GO! glasses on sale at the event. The rest of DDT’s misfits fill up the field. Masa Takanashi is aiming to win a title shot so he can become a double champion, one in Japan and one in Singapore. Toru Owashi is currently battling a flu but he also wants to snap every pair of HIRATA GO! glasses he sees. He also wants to flush Hirata down a toilet in the sumo locker room. Kazusada Higuchi held one of the contracts last year during his impressive rookie unbeaten streak. This time he wants to get a successful cash in. Tomomitsu Matsunaga and Cherry both want to finally achieve their goal of becoming KO-D Champion. Cherry wants to defend the title 41 times, one for every year she’s been alive. She believes this will end with her becoming reborn into an even more beautiful woman. Ryota Nakatsu is ready to get into a baseball dugout brawl if he has to. Ryuichi Sekine calls himself the best orthodox wrestler in BASARA and him getting a title shot will guarantee the belt either stays or comes back to his home company. Ken Ohka who briefly became KO-D Champion last year thanks to the Right To Challenge concept, sees himself as the outsider of the match due to being a representative of Ganbare☆Wrestling. At the press conference he challenged everybody to fight him one on one. Higuchi then gave him a Headbutt and he backed off, instead complimenting everybody for being so enthusiastic for the match. The other wild card is Yoshihiko. It probably just wants to watch the world burn.

2. 3 Way Tag Match: Joey Ryan & Candice LeRae Vs Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie Vs Akito & Yasu Urano

It’s safe to say DDT has fallen in love with The World’s Cutest Tag Team. Last year’s video of Joey Ryan overpowering Danshoku Dino with his dick made him famous and the DDT roster fell head over heels for Candice LeRae, one of them even going so far to propose to her almost immediately. For their return to Japan they have two mainstay tag teams thrown in their way. Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie are former KO-D Tag Team and All Asia Tag Team Champions. Yasu Urano & Akito are busy working their strategy for the match. They understand that communication is key to winning and both of their opposing teams have strong bonds. However the one thing Ryan & LeRae have over Ishii & Irie is the language barrier. Ishii & Irie are terrible at English! Urano & Akito however understand English and can work out what Ryan & LeRae will be saying to each other. They don’t speak it themselves but they still understand it. Ishii tried to prove them wrong at the press conference by having Irie translate his message to both teams in English.

3. Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title – Special 6-Man Tag Team Match: Saki Akai, Makoto Oishi & Lady Beard Vs LiLiCo (c), Kota Umeda & Mizuki Watase

The Kawaii Connection reunite to deliver their cuteness to the entire world. Cute model Saki Akai, cute wrestler Makoto Oishi and cute crossdresser Lady Beard are ready to get revenge on LiLiCo for what she did to Akai. Back in December Akai finally achieved her goal and won the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title for the second time in her career. But a few weeks later LiLiCo made a surprise return to choke out Akai with a steel chain and win the title. Now they will finally meet in the ring properly but LiLiCo has some back up. She recruited DNA wrestlers Kota Umeda & Mizuki Watase. mostly based on their looks, to protect her and her championship. They’ve been living a lavish lifestyle in the run up to the show. LiLiCo’s been bragging about eating delicious meat with her handsome men. Umeda thinks the full stomach he has from the meat puts him in peak physical condition. Meanwhile a war of words has erupted between Akai and Watase over each other’s appearances. It’s gotten so bad that the two had to be pulled apart from each other during the press conference.

4. Special Tag Match: Antonio Honda & Hiroshi Fukuda Vs Tatsumi Fujinami & LEONA

The latest puroresu legend to step into DDT’s ring is WWE Hall Of Famer Tatsumi Fujinami! He’s been looking for a new challenge for himself and his son LEONA to overcome so DDT gave them a call and here they are. Antonio Honda spent the last few months chasing after the DDT Extreme Title and trying to get Kendo Kashin to notice him. The experience left him in a bad state of mind so when he heard he will be teaming with Hiroshi Fukuda it cheered him up. He said he always had fun when he’s in the ring with Fukuda. That it’s against Fujinami & LEONA is icing on the cake for both. Fukuda claims he recently received a WWE tryout and he wonders if Fujinami gets a Legends discount for the WWE Network because he’s in their Hall Of Fame.

5. DDT Extreme Title – Ultimate Royal Barbed Wire PowerPoint No Power Blast PWF Rules: Kendo Kashin (c) Vs Super Sasadango Machine

And now we go to whatever the hell this is. Kendo Kashin’s DDT Extreme Title run has been complicated in ways that should not be so. He created rulesets for his title defences that turn out to be exactly like normal match stipulations. Instead of a normal match it is an Amateur rules bout with 3 count pins, submissions allowed and 20 count ring outs. Instead of a tag team match it is a single match but both wrestlers have partners they can swap places with. Instead of a Triple Threat it is a singles match but with three wrestlers involved. And so on and so forth. Add in Super Sasadango Machine who is a master of bizarre match stipulations and you have a recipe for a beautiful disaster.

barbwire-powerpoint

So what exactly is an Ultimate Royal Barbed Wire PowerPoint No Power Blast PWF Rules match? Does it have anything to do with that stupid 4 Way MMA Gauntlet match New Japan did for its 2005 Tokyo Dome show? Actually yes it does but there’s only two wrestlers involved this time. Also Kashin has never seen the match so he’s not entirely sure what the rules for that are. Does it have anything to do with the Barbed Wire Explosion matches FMW was famous for? Again yes it does but explosions of that size are banned in Sumo Hall so they won’t be included. Instead barbed wire will be wrapped around the laptop Sasadango uses for his PowerPoint presentations and it will be rigged to explode after 5 minutes.

6. Kota Ibushi Comeback & Ibushi Wrestling Institute 1st Leg – East & West Toward The Front Over The Entire Surface Falls Count Anywhere Weapon Treasure Hunt Match: Sanshiro Takagi & Jun Kasai Vs KENSO & Michael Nakazawa Vs Kota Ibushi & Gota Ihashi

There are two stories surrounding this match. First is the feud that no one wanted resurfaced last year and has lingered in DDT ever since. Sanshiro Takagi and KENSO had a feud in 2006 that ended with a No Rope Exploding Barbed Wire Match on a show where everything just fell apart. How bad was it? There were power outages during the match caused by the barbed wire ruining the explosions. KENSO showed up in DDT last year wanting to rekindle the feud. It was the most alive he ever felt and he wanted to experience it again. It turned smarky on social media with Takagi tweeting about KENSO’s failures in wrestling including losing to an actor when he wrestled in HUSTLE. KENSO’s response was usually just linking a picture of Takagi’s election poster, an embarrassing part of his past. A dark match 60 minute Ironman Match couldn’t decide a winner of the feud so it’s off to Sumo Hall for another final battle. Jun Kasai is coming to bring back his Crazy & President tag team with Takagi. KENSO has to rely on Michael Nakazawa who is returning from Singapore just to do this match. The stage is set for an out of control Falls Count Anywhere Match that will spread all over Sumo Hall. What could possibly take the spotlight from that?

Oh hey there, Kota Ibushi. How’s it going?

So get this. Last October Ibushi starts dropping out of shows including him missing a KO-D Title Match. Turns out he was diagnosed with a herniated cervical disc. So that’s him gone for God knows how long. Months pass and he’s all quiet until all of a sudden videos appear on Twitter of Ibushi working out and taking bumps with a training dummy. The herniated disc wasn’t as bad as expected and he was getting close to a full recovery. DDT and New Japan fans get excited for what will surely be his inevitable glorious comeback for both companies. Then in February he drops a bombshell. Ibushi decided to quit both DDT and New Japan. The double schedule took its toll on his body and he also felt he wouldn’t be able to do the kind of pro wrestling he wants to do while tied down to both companies. So he “graduates” from DDT and New Japan and then creates the Ibushi Wrestling Institute. What that is we still don’t know. What we do know is Ibushi’s first match back will be in this clusterfuck. He gets to wrestle Takagi and Nakazawa again, two men he has the deepest respect for and he gets to do a Falls Count Anywhere Match in Sumo Hall, which he has never done before.

What he does after the next few weeks is anyone’s guess. Maybe the WWE fans get their wish and he enters the Global Cruiserweight Series. Maybe NJPW fans can still get their wish of Ibushi Vs Kenny Omega at the Tokyo Dome next year. Or maybe he’s just going to do what he thinks is fun even if it means hardcore fans tearing out their hair because his big goal is to fight in Kaiju Big Battel. I mean fair play to EVOLVE and all but it has to be a bit embarrassing when everyone hears that the main reason a big star took your booking is because he wants to fight a devil monkey, a dust bunny, a murderous can of soup and a giant waffle in the same town that weekend.

7. Dramatic Dream Match: Yukio Sakaguchi Vs Minoru Suzuki

The last time Yukio Sakaguchi was in Sumo Hall for DDT he won the KO-D Championship. The last time Minoru Suzuki was in Sumo Hall for DDT he was part of some nonsense with Takagi, Kasai and Nakazawa. Both are grumpy hybrid wrestlers so it’s only natural for a showdown between the two. Sakaguchi isn’t in the mood to talk about the match. Suzuki cares a little more but he’s rather enjoying teasing Sakaguchi over his public reputation for being a bad guy. Expect this match to get physical.

8. Dramatic Dream Match: Danshoku Dino Vs Akebono

Danshoku Dino is an ass man. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. What could be a surprise is Dino might not be able to handle the next ass he’s in the ring with. Akebono was last in DDT for “SAITAMA SUPER DDT” at the Saitama Super Arena. Since then he’s won some titles, created his own wrestling company Odo and got punched in the back of the head by Bop Sapp. You know, the usual stuff Akebono likes to do. For this match Dino has been trying to hunt down the asses of various wrestlers as some sort of power up but the plan hasn’t been a success. He’ll need to pull out every trick he can think of to win but it’s possible. Dino once defeated Bob Sapp. He can do the same to Akebono!

9. KO-D Tag Team Titles – Uchicomi! Presents: Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo (c) Vs Daisuke Sasaki & Shuji Ishikawa

The New Generation Combination are currently DDT’s top tag team. Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo are the leading examples that DDT’s future is in good hands. But for the last month they’ve had a duo barking up their tree and snapping at their heels. Daisuke Sasaki is a crafty veteran who has had success in the past. However his luck changed when he fell in love with Candice LeRae. After teaming with her he bent down on one knee and proposed. She turned him down and he had a mental breakdown when he found out she got engaged to someone else immediately afterwards. Unable to handle rejection Sasaki started bringing a dog leash with him. When he demanded a tag team title shot without having any tag partners he went out and got a dog named Adrien. The “dog” then showed up and attacked the New Gen Combo. He unmasked and was revealed to be Shuji Ishikawa! Sasaki now has a partner and together they want the tag titles. Takeshita & Endo believe they are the future of pro wrestling and they’re not going to drop the titles to a dumped man and his pet dog.

10. KO-D Openweight Title – Good Com Asset Presents: Isami Kodaka (c) Vs HARASHIMA

The KO-D Openweight Championship has been around Isami Kodaka’s waist since November. Things have been great for him. His new promotion BASARA is doing well, he’s a tag team champion in All Japan and he’s been unbeatable in DDT. If there is anyone who has the best shot at winning the title from him it’s good old Mr. Reliable himself, HARASHIMA. For the 5th time in his career HARASHIMA is in the headline match for DDT at Sumo Hall. The last time was in 2014 in a 3 Way Match with Kodaka and Kenny Omega. HARASHIMA got the pin on Kodaka to keep the title. This time he’s going in as challenger and he aims to leave with the belt. Kodaka equates this match to the rivalry between Kenshiro and Raoh in Fist Of The North Star. Isami is Kenshiro, HARASHIMA is Raoh. Isami is desperate to win and he’ll even use the Muso Tensei if he has to!

1. Ryota Nakatsu & Mao Inoue defeated Makoto Oishi & Shunma Katsumata when Nakatsu pinned Katsumata with the Face Kick (7:20).
2. Gota Ihashi, Kazusada Higuchi & Kota Umeda defeated Yasu Urano, Akito & Suguru Miyatake when Ihashi pinned Miyatake with a Body Press (11:17).

DDT went to the Tokyo Ramen Show to promote their Ebisuko Curry restaurant with a Falls Count Anywhere match. They were joined by retired MMA fighter Akira Shoji for the event. Shoji runs his own Ebisuko Noodle shop in Toyama.

In the main event Gota Ihashi told the crowd he appreciates their support and he got them to chant “Ebisuko” for his team. Suguru Miyatake said he preferred pork ramen soup and called Ihashi a pig bastard. During the match Miyatake’s team put Ihashi in the Kaientai DX pyramid pose. Akira Shoji got annoyed by their dirty tactics and ran in on the match! He locked in Yasu Urano and Akito in a Double Half Crab while Ihashi hit a Body Press on Miyatake to win the match.

sakaguchi-vs-sasaki

KUDO was in attendance to watch his Shuten-dōji brother Yukio Sakaguchi defend the KO-D Openweight Title. The champion hugged KUDO before the match started. Meanwhile Daisuke Sasaki was pushed down to the ring on a trolley by his Golden☆Storm Rider team mates. Sasaki only attempted to do the Vietnam Driver II once in the match but Sakaguchi slipped out of the hold and trapped Sasaki in a Sleeper Hold. Sasaki did catch Sakaguchi with a flash Hurricanrana but it wasn’t enough to get the three count. Sasaki aimed big by setting up an Avalanche Pedigree but Sakaguchi stopped him with some Elbow Strikes that left Sasaki hanging upside down from the turnbuckles by his legs. Sakaguchi climbed the turnbuckles and hit KUDO’s Diving Double Knee Drop! Sasaki somehow kicked out but was put into another Sleeper Hold. Sasaki showed some life when he stuck up his middle finger but Sakaguchi put him away with a Knee Strike to the face, a Jumping Knee to the back and finally the Right Knee Of God in the corner. Sakaguchi celebrated his title defence with KUDO and Masa Takanashi in the ring. His next title defence will be on 28th October against the runner up of the DDT Dramatic General Election.

kod6-ohkaempire

It was a long, rocky hill to climb but #OhkaEmpire are the new KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions! They were the underdogs against Team Drift but Ken Ohka was able to lead his team to victory. Danshoku Dino came out with his hair dyed blonde for the occasion. The title change looked like it wouldn’t happen. Although #OhkaEmpire jumped Drift when the bell rang and Super Sasadango Machine tried to hit the Vertical Drop Lehman Shock three times, Drift stood their ground. Shigehiro Irie looked to be too strong for Ohka but Ohka ducked the Beast Bomber and hit the Spear Of Flame for the upset victory. Later on the new champions confronted Happy Motels to congratulate them on becoming the No. 1 Contenders. Ohka said #OhkaEmpire are a major sports group and they will train hard to defend the titles. Antonio Honda interrupted him with a Stunner. Dino ignored what was going on in the ring so he could have his way with Mao Inoue at ringside.

ibushi-miyatake

Kota Ibushi & Suguru Miyatake both entered the ring for their match carrying a drink that was described as Ibushi’s medicine. He consumed it during the match to get an ability boost.

joeyryan-lollipop

Joey Ryan leaves Japan for now undefeated. He made a friend in Hiroshi Fukuda during his stay. Fukuda told Ryan he is going to be lonely without him and he wrote him a love letter that is also a song that is 16 bars long. Ryan told Fukuda he is his best friend in Japan and they will team again because he will be back in November. When Ryan comes back he wants to face a variety of different wrestlers but none more so than Danshoku Dino.

momowashi-hirata

Toru Owashi did not want any nonsense from Kazuki Hirata today. No goofy glasses, no entrance robe or anything of that sort. Hirata had to go get other gear. Later on Owashi’s own wrestling gear went missing. The only clothing he could find in his locker was a peach costume he used to wrestle in. He had no other choice but to become “Momowashi” once more. It turned out Hirata stole Owashi’s gear and he wore it for the match! At one point Hirata put Owashi in a Stretch Plum just for the sake of making the pun. They later danced to “Tokyo GO!” until Owashi pinned Hirata with a School Boy out of nowhere. Owashi asked afterwards why Hirata stole his gear. Hirata said he found out this month is Owashi’s 15th anniversary in pro wrestling and his 10th anniversary in DDT. Owashi must have forgotten about it. To celebrate Hirata decided to wear Owashi’s gear so he could be more like him. Hirata said Owashi’s bullying has been painful but he still wants them to work hard together going into Owashi’s 11th year in DDT. He gave Owashi his peach helmet back, put on his Hirata GO! glasses and they danced.

ihashi-takagi-dark

Gota Ihashi is free from dark match purgatory once more! Thanks to some help from his Pigging 2015 team mates, Ihashi was able to beat Sanshiro Takagi in the dark match, making Takagi the new King Of Dark Champion! Ihashi threw the belt at Takagi and was so happy that he added himself to the opening match. He then invited Saki Akai to participate in the match to even out the numbers. Akai did not want to take part until Matsunaga revealed that he has her toothbrush. He placed it in Ihashi’s mouth and Akai stormed the ring to kick Ihashi in the face. She went for a Diving Cross Body but Matsunaga dodged and she landed on Makoto Oishi instead. Shunma Katsumata was blinded by blue mist and Ihashi pinned him with a Moonsault to give him a rare two match winning streak. He celebrated by filling his mouth with toothpaste and brushing his teeth with Akai’s toothbrush. He said he was satisfied by the strawberry taste.

4 Way Tag Team Match: KUDO & Gota Ihashi (w/ Akira Shoji) defeated Kota Ibushi & Daisuke Sasaki, Sanshiro Takagi & Jun Kasai and Choun-Shiryu & Cao Zhang when Ihashi pinned Shiryu with a Diving Body Press from a ladder through a table (13:07).

Take that attendence number with a grain of salt. I think that’s the attendance of the Tokyo Ramen Show in general.

DDT was at the Tokyo Ramen Show to not only host a Falls Count Anywhere match, but to also promote their Ebisuko curry restaurant. DDT collaborated with former Pride FC fighter Akira Shoji to promote their chicken crab ramen special.

Choun-Shiryu & Cao Zhang were insulted by the food on offer and said when they win they will take over Ebisuko and everyone will be eating Beijing ramen instead. The match while short contained a table, ladder, fire extinguisher, Tonkachi and the Combat Bicycle. Jun Kasai was moments away from putting Shiryu through the table with the Pearl Harbour Splash from the ladder but Cao Zhang stopped him with the Tonkachi. Shiryu gave Ihashi the Chinese Gory Bomb but Akira Shoji came to the rescue! Shoji knocked out Shiryu and placed him on the table. Ihashi then leapt from the ladder and put Shiryu through the table for the 3 count. KUDO thanked Shoji for helping them protect Ebisuko. They then promoted their ramen again.

1. Solidly Single Match: Ryuichi Sekine defeated Daichi Kazato with the Combine (8:16).
2. White Doe & Aoki Wolves – 3 Way Embarrassment Match: Misaki Ohata defeated Antonio Honda and Seiya Morohashi when Ohata made Morohashi say “I’m embarrassed!” (8:05).
3. YaroZ Hardcore Match: Shuji Ishikawa defeated Kankuro Hoshino with the Splash Mountain onto a chair (12:01).
4. Talk To The Fist – Boxing Match: Gota Ihashi Vs Kengo Mashimo ended in a No Contest (4R).
5. Clash At Last! Sudden Realisation Of The Forbiddon: Keizo Matsuda defeated Danshoku Dino with a Tombstone Piledriver (9:36).
6. Value Of Man Is Not A Plane! BOYZ Vs YaroZ: Sanshiro Takagi, Toru Owashi & Shigehiro Irie defeated HARASHIMA, Makoto Oishi & Tetsuya Endo when Irie pinned Oishi with the Flying Sausage (17:29).

Turns out I was using a non-vulgar translation of the show name and this show was indeed vulgar. AssholeZ it is, then.

Tomomitsu Matsunaga and Amon Tsurumi were originally supposed to host the show but they were mysteriously absent. Taking their place were guest MCs Brother Tommy and Brother Mon. They explained this was a show for bastards, by bastards. They wanted to encourage everyone wrestling to unleash their inner bastard just for today.

The main event saw Team YaroZ facing Team BOYZ with the latter being uncomfortable with the surroundings. Makoto Oishi complained about a stinking smell coming from the audience. He also called his opponents ugly, fat and old. Shigehiro Irie was very upset at being called old. He got his revenge by pinning Oishi with the Flying Sausage.

Keizo Matsuda discovered his Danshoku side during his victory over Danshoku Dino. While at first overpowered by his opponent, Matsuda pulled down his tights to reveal he was wearing Danshoku tights underneath. He then used his newly found Danshoku ability to Lip Lock Dino and then pin him with the Tombstone. After the match Matsuda got his hands on some fans in the front row. He and Dino then did a Danshoku version of the Steiner Brothers pose on the stage. Brother Mon called it the birth of the Japanese Steiner Brothers.

The boxing match between Gota Ihashi and Kengo Mashimo was set for 45 one minute rounds with Yuzuki Aikawa providing some bouncy eye candy as the round girl. Aikawa however appeared in her regular everyday clothing because she had other things to do today. Ihashi and Mashimo had a slugfest but everybody noticed that everytime a round ended, Aikawa would remove a piece of clothing before holding the next round card. So Yukinori Matsui did everything he could to make sure the match continued even though Ihashi and Mashimo were beating the tar out of each other. At the end of the third round Aikawa promised to reveal her swimsuit if the fight made it to Round 5. Mashimo knocked out Ihashi in the 4th Round but Matsui counted as slowly as he could. Mashimo got sick of the stalling and said he was going home. With Mashimo leaving and Ihashi still unconcious, Brother Mon had no other choice but to call off the match. The arena broke out into chaos until Aikawa decided to strip down to her Stars & Stripes swimsuit much to the excitement of every man in the building.

Both Shuji Ishikawa and Kankuro Hoshino wrestled their hardcore match wearing fundoshi instead of their usual gear.

The Embarrassment Match involved Antonio Honda, Seiya Morohashi and Misaki Ohata trying to humiliate each other to win. The first person to make another wrestler yell “I’m embarrassed!” would be crowned the winner. At first they all tried to strip each other but soon Honda brought in a whip. Ohata got rid of Honda and whipped Morohashi’s bare backside enough to make him say he was embarrassed. Brother Tommy said afterwards that it was a terrible match.

Mayu Iwatani, Lin Bairon, Kota Ibushi & Gota Ihashi defeated Eri Susa, Makoto, Michael Nakazawa & Hikaru Sato when Iwatani pinned Nakazawa with a Dragon Suplex (12:26).

Today was the big day for the Stardom joshi promotion. They ran an important show in Sumo Hall dedicated to the retirement of Yuzuki Aikawa. Miss Bouncy Bouncy received a lot of support from DDT during her pro wrestling career so it was fitting to see some of the wrestlers having a match on the undercard. The 8-Person Tag Team match had a crossover of talent from Stardom, DDT and Wrestling New Classic as Kota Ibushi & Gota Ihashi teamed with Stardom’s Mayu Iwatani and the new WNC Women’s Champion Lin Bairon to face Michael Nakazawa, Hikaru Sato, Eri Susa and the former WNC Women’s Champion Makoto. Nakazawa and Sato were in hentai mode with Nakazawa dressed as a nurse while Sato wore a women’s bathing suit. Ibushi and Makoto got to reignite their small rivalry when they paired off in the ring. Nakazawa was his usual creepy sense and attempted to apply the Ultimate Venom Arm on Iwatani. Makoto did not want her team to win that way and tried to stop him but got caught in the crossfire. Iwatani capitalised on the backfire and pinned Nakazawa with a Dragon Suplex in an impressive feat. Now, if someone from DDT is reading this could they please go console Sanshiro Takagi?

Meanwhile a few other DDT wrestlers appeared at the the Makuhari Messe in Tokyo to attend the Nico Douga Conference. Antonio Honda put on his red and yellow tights and brought Hulkamania to life again with a Hulk Hogan Gymnastics performance. He was cheered on by Danshoku Dino, Tsurumi Amon, Daisuke Sasaki, Hiroshi Fukuda and Chikage Kiba. The video of the original performance is one of the more popular sport videos on the website. To celebrate the Japanese tradition of White Day, where men give gifts to women one month after St. Valentine’s Day, DDT will be holding a contest for its more handsome members of the roster. At the end of the show, all of the female fans leaving Korakuen Hall will receive candy made by the wrestlers themselves in return for their ticket stubs. A prize will be given to the wrestler who collects the most ticket stubs at the end of the contest.

Gota Ihashi makes his long delayed return to wrestling to face KUDO in the opening match. If the name sounds familiar, it is because Gota Ihashi origianlly began as a low card parody of Kota Ibushi. He is a chubby wrestler with only a couple years of experience but he is able to duplicate Ibushi’s Low Kick, Standing Moonsault combo. Ihashi suffered ligament damage to both of his knees in March 2010 and has been out of action ever since. However, he stayed under contract with DDT and became a chef for one of their restaurants. He is now finally cleared to enter the ring once again.
