YUMI Leaves TJPW, DISASTER BOX Loser, DDT UK, Endo Calls Out Kenny

As of today YUMI has left Tokyo Joshi Pro and ended her time in pro wrestling. She last wrestled in November so she could take her high school exams. She was able to pass them but could never find a balance between her education and her wrestling career. She ultimately made the decision to focus on her studies. YUMI apologises for the sudden announcement and wants everyone to remember the fun she had in the ring.

The DISASTER BOX 5 Way Match will have the wrestlers exit the ring when they win a fall. The match continues until one wrestler is left and he will be declared the loser. Kazuki Hirata asked for Over The Top Rope rules to be included. If somebody gets thrown out of the ring they automatically lose the match. Toru Owashi also asked for the loser to be punished after the match. HARASHIMA agreed to both.

Another reason why this is a Beer Garden-Like show instead of a proper Beer Garden show is because alcohol is currently not allowed at the venue. It’s to prevent Coronavirus from spreading so food and drink in general aren’t allowed other than water that people bring themselves to stay hydrated.

Danshoku Dieno, Seigo Tachibana & Yoshiko is a group of superfriends if I ever saw one. Yoshiko bakes, Tachibana is evil and Dieno is the responsible one. Can Eruption match that? Saki Akai is pretty responsible, Yukio Sakaguchi has an evil side. Don’t know about Kazusada Higuchi’s cooking skills but if he can whip up a decent crème brûlée then that’s a good time for everybody.

Naomichi Marufuji will be on the show.

The winner of this year’s KING OF DDT tournament gets the KO-D Openweight Title match at “ULTIMATE PARTY 2020”. The early story coming out of this is if Tetsuya Endo wins the tournament he gets to choose his challenger. And top of his list is Kenny Omega! Word has reached Omega and he isn’t impressed. He tweeted today “Your title will be nothing more than another trophy to me. I’ll feel nothing when I see you and the entire locker room crying. This is what you chose for DDT and yourself.”

Their match ended in a 20 minute draw and went into overtime. The sudden death rules included two count pins and it only took 22 seconds for Imanari to snatch the upset win. He advances to wrestle HUB on 25th July. Imanari is able to wrestle in Ganbare☆Wrestling this weekend but he may have to miss the next Ganpro show if he advances further in the tournament and there is a scheduling conflict.

The trainee Aona will become Moka Miyamoto when she debuts in the ring. Miyamoto comes from Kanagawa, is 160cm tall and was born on 18th March, 1999. She trained in Shotokan Karate when she was in high school and joined Tokyo Joshi Pro last fall. Her debut match was originally meant to happen on 3rd May but that show was cancelled due to the Coronavirus. Thankfully a new Korakuen Hall date was booked for later this month and her debut will now happen there.

Akiyama-gun is looking for an official unit name. So far each member proposed a name except for Jun Akiyama himself. He made a poll on Twitter with three options: NEW EXPLOSION, Re: STERNNESS and STERNNESS. NEW EXPLOSION won the poll so that is his entry. Now a second poll is up with the four possible names: NEW EXPLOSION, Junretsu (準烈), Firestar and The Beginning (ザ・ビギニング). It’s not guaranteed that the poll winner will become the official name but Akiyama will for sure make a decision in time for the July Korakuen show.

The Social Distance Rules match GCW held in March went viral, especially in Japan. Joey Janela in particular caught Sanshiro Takagi’s attention. Interactions on Twitter show that Takagi wants Janela to come over to DDT when the Coronavirus is gone. For now something else is planned. Yoshihiko is heading over to America to fight Janela in GCW!

King Of DDT 2020

This year’s edition of the King Of DDT is going to be a bit of a sprint. 28 wrestlers will enter the single elimination tournament and the first three rounds will take place in three back-to-back days at Kanda Myojin Hall. The final rounds take place in Korakuen Hall. This time the reigning KO-D Openweight Champion (currently Tetsuya Endo, could switch to Yuki Ueno) will be entering the tournament! The prize is 1,000,000 yen from the sponsor BLACK OUT energy drink.

1. Hyper Misao defeated Pom Harajuku with the HiPami Returns (5:29).
2. Shoko Nakajima & Yuna Manase defeated YUMI & Haruna Neko when Nakajima pinned Neko with the Northern Lights Suplex (10:09).
3. Veda Scott defeated Yuki Aino with the Fisherman Suplex (8:15).
4. DDT Offer Match: HARASHIMA & Yuki Ueno defeated Kazusada Higuchi & Antonio Honda when HARASHIMA pinned Honda with the Somato (11:31).
5. Yuka Sakazaki, Mizuki & Hinano defeated Nodoka Tenma, Yuki Kamifuku & Raku when Mizuki pinned Kamifuku with the Diving Foot Stomp (11:52).
6. Miyu Yamashita, Reika Saiki & Mina Shirakawa defeated Maki Itoh, Hikari & Miu when Yamashita pinned Miu with the Crash Rabbit Heat (12:52).

In the final preview battle before 4th January, Miyu Yamashita’s team were victorious over Maki Itoh’s side. Itoh hit both Reika Saiki & Mina Shirakawa with a Double Headbutt and Hikari followed up with a Missile Dropkick. But Yamashita escaped from Miu’s Canadian Backbreaker to pin her with the Crash Rabbit Heat. Itoh was held back from breaking the pin so Yamashita taunted her by raising three fingers up to her face. She told Ito after the match that she looks forward to seeing her driven to the limit at Korakuen Hall.

Yuka Sakazaki, Mizuki & Hinano all came out with their hair in twintails until Hinano said hers were cuter than Sakazaki’s.

Antonio Honda wanted to tell his lewd Gongitsune joke but Yukinori Matsui told him he couldn’t because they were at a joshi show with a different audience. Honda told the joke anyway. After the match HARASHIMA called the new venue clean and fresh and easy to wrestle in. He looks forward to DDT running a show here soon.

Hyper Misao dressed in a 90’s style Harajuku schoolgirl costume to combat Pom Harajuku’s fashion sense.

The Up Up Girls (Pro Wrestling) spent yesterday training with Shinjiro Otani, Towa Iwasaki and Shoki Kitamura at the ZERO1 dojo in Kanagawa. Hikari, the only one in the idol group who was a wrestling fan before joining Tokyo Joshi Pro took the opportunity to spar in the ring with Otani. Even though Otani easily overwhelmed her, his lesson to the girls was if you wrestle from your heart your wrestling will be beautiful. He also praised the girls for handling two careers as wrestlers and idols.

Hikari described the experience as completely different to her usual practice and matches. Before today the most experienced person she fought against has around 5 or 6 years of experience max. Hinano was happy to have worked hard and get a lot of advice. Miu learned some of the basics for the first time because she was never a wrestling fan before becoming one. Raku was excited to do a training session that was different from her usual classes.

So This Is The Christmas Schedule, Natsumi Maki To TJPW?

First of all a very Merry Christmas to everybody! I have an Electric Six Christmas album (yes it exists) playing on loop while I’m trying to finish this post so I can wrap up the blog for the next few days. I keep having to rewrite it with the stories coming out today (there’s now some sort of Ganbare☆Wrestling Vs HEAT-UP thing going on that I’m missing for now). I’m going to enjoy the break before things get busy next week. Last year I felt a general burnout from the DDT family being involved in five Korakuen Hall shows in the space of a week (six in less than two weeks if you include DDT’s Christmas Eve show). There is one less Korakuen event this time around and I’ve already lashed through plenty of busy tours in 2018 so hopefully the energy levels will be good all around.

Well this has gotten awkward. Rumours are going around that Natsumi Maki will be joining Tokyo Joshi Pro soon but she burned a bridge in the process. She was originally advertised to be in the main event of an Actwres girl’Z show in Amagasaki today but was pulled off the card last night. After the opening match Yumiko Hotta told the audience about Maki’s decision to go work with Tokyo Joshi. Hotta then said Maki made this deal without her permission and she cannot forgive her for it. So far neither Maki or Tokyo Joshi have confirmed the rumour of a deal between them. Maki has apologised to the AgZ fans for missing the show.

If this deal is true then Maki working with Tokyo Joshi was most likely going to be a surprise announcement at this Thursday’s show in the new Tokyo Kanda Myojin Hall. I guess Maki would show up alongside a full card reveal for the 4th January where she can make her debut. Maki did announce in August that she would be leaving Actwres girl’Z at the end of 2018 so the questions I’m left with are when was her move to Tokyo Joshi planned and how exactly was this done against Hotta’s wishes? It’s one thing if contract tampering is involved but from what I gather Maki should be free from that. I also get that having your boss’s blessing to join another promotion is important in these circles even if it is not necessary. We just have to wait and see how this shakes out.

Go Shiozaki enjoyed his time in the D-Ou Grand Prix and thinks it was a worthwhile experience. He was hesitant to take part at first, fearing it would be a career mistake to get involved. Instead the matches and opponents he got have gone above his expectations. After making it as far as the final he is now motivated to engrave his name in the tournament’s young history. Konosuke Takeshita is also motivated to raise the prestige of the Grand Prix. He cannot deny the match has an element of DDT Vs NOAH to it but he doesn’t want it to be just about that. Shiozaki Vs Takeshita should also be about two of the best wrestlers in Japan facing off against each other. Takeshita will be fighting not for DDT but for himself. The winner gets himself a spot in February’s Sumo Hall main event.

Danshoku Dieno has explained his desire to humiliate Daisuke Sasaki as revenge for what Sasaki did to him at “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2018”. Getting stripped naked (Dieno is convinced Sasaki made him do it) and locked into a casket can do that to a person. Since Dieno is in no shape to enact revenge by himself, he formed an alliance with Naomi Yoshimura when the youngster returned from his overseas excursion. Yoshimura agreed to go along because he senses bad vibes in current DDT and Sasaki is to blame for it. Dieno & Yoshimura have been constantly taunting Sasaki, mostly regarding his failed “relationship” with Candice LeRae. Sasaki admits he is still in love with LeRae and he’s tried to send flowers priced 5,000 yen to her. While the mindgames have been effecting him negatively, Sasaki got a one up on Yoshimura by attacking him with a chair at today’s show in Koyama.

Now it happens again with BASARA’s visit to the reopened Kitazawa Town Hall. While this next match is only a tag bout, Nakatsu gets to find out if he has come any closer to Hidaka’s level.
