DDT spent a second day at Kanda Myojin Hall for another wrestling show that followed up a little bit on what went on yesterday. First Kazuki Hirata ambushed the two shrine priests from yesterday and placed a Seal on both of them to win back the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title. Then in the main event he won a Battle Royal sponsored by voice actress Sumire Uesaka’s café. Everyone in the match wore ribbons in their hair just like Uesaka does. When Hirata was about to receive his prize from Uesaka for winning the match, Pokotan entered the ring and knocked him out with a wrench because he wanted to win the Iron Man Title back. Tetsu Inada stopped Pokotan from pinning Hirata by grabbing his head off and throwing it out of the ring. He then convinced Uesaka to pin Hirata and become the new champ!

There was another Iron Man Title change that happened a while after the show ended. Pokotan snuck up on Uesara and placed its head over her, Uesaka couldn’t see what was going on and the fear made her tap out. The referee then decided the new champion is not Pokotan but Pokotan’s Head!

Keigo Nakamura got to fight HARASHIMA one more time before he goes on his overseas excursion. He said he is always grateful to HARASHIMA for standing by him even when he was injured. When he decided on the excursion, HARASHIMA told him to carry DDT on his shoulders and do his best on the world stage. He feels he now has no choice but to do his best. He promises to come back as a big enough figure that people will end up calling him an ace.

6. Special Tag Match: Chris Brookes & Takeshi Masada defeated HARASHIMA & Daichi Sato when Brookes submitted Sato with the Ground Octopus Stretch (16:24).

The main event was a glimpse into the upcoming King Of DDT tournament where Chris Brookes and HARASHIMA will face each other in the first round. Brookes ended up submitted Daichi Sato in the match but he also wished him luck in the tournament. HARASHIMA also congratulated Sato on main eventing a DDT show for the first time. Takeshi Masada said he is fired up for his rubber match against Yuya Koroku in Round 1. He still remembers losing to Koroku in the D GENERATIONS CUP final and wants to avoid history repeating itself.

The Kanda Myojin Hall is a site in Tokyo that DDT has used for matches and press conferences in the past. Super Sasadango Machine was inspired by the area’s history to come up with rules for today’s DDT Extreme Title match. He claims the nearby temple was founded to worship the strong villagers who protected the rice fields from demons by biting them. Ever since then the temple holds an important religious ceremony where people bite each other in front of their gods for peace and good health. The shrine priests in attendance told Sasadango that is flat out wrong but Sasadango kept the rules he made anyway. The goal of the match was to bite something three times. When the match began he quickly realised he was in a disadvantage because his mouth was covered by his mask so he had to lift it up to bite Kazuki Hirata. He was still able to get a lead with two bites until Hirata tried to say a tongue twister and bit his own tongue. The referee decided that counts. He then blew his nose with tissue which the referee decided was also a bite. With one bite needed to win Sasadango took out rice crackers and told Hirata whoever bit one first would win. Hirata was about to bite one when Sasadango unmasked himself and then pulled the mask over Hirata’s face to stop him. He then did the Vertical Drop Lehman Shock and ate the cracker to win the match. Sasadango said he will keep defending the Extreme Title until he fights Toru Yano from New Japan.

The local mascot Mikosee had a bad start for his debut wrestling match when he was too big and unwieldy to get into the ring. But he eventually figure out how to transform into battle mode and get involved like a proper wrestler. He even won the match for his team.

Sasadango was expecting today’s match with Hirata to be a double title match. The Extreme Title was already on the line and Hirata was the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion when the show began. But during the show Pokotan ambushed Hirata, knocked him out with a wrench and pinned him to win the title. However Pokotan’s escape was blocked off by Mikosee, who knocked his head off and sent him back into the ring. Two shrine priests then placed a Seal on Pokotan, unintentionally double pinning him to make them the new champions.

With half of the Tokyo Joshi Pro roster off on a Las Vegas adventure, it was up to the other half to keep things going back in Japan. There was an important matter of deciding who the next challenger for the International Princess Title was going to be. Eight wrestlers from the 2023 and 2024 Classes were put through an unusual tournament format to whittle the group down to one person left standing. Round 1 was an 8-Woman Tag Match with everyone on the winning side advancing to the next stage. Haru Kazashiro scored the pin for her team to send them through. The semi final then split those four into two tag teams. HIMAWARI & Uta Takami advanced thanks to Takami getting her first ever submission win after Chika Nanase gave up to the Koala Clutch. The final ended with HIMAWARI using a Modified Jackhammer (she later named it the Sunflower Tempest) to beat Takami and become No. 1 Contender. She will get her title shot against Suzume on 3rd May.

Moka Miyamoto was happy to team up with Ryo Mizunami and take some of her power for herself. Mizunami was curious to see what the crowd was like for today’s show and liked the energy coming from the TJPW fans. Haruna Neko probably wished the energy wasn’t there because Mizunami beat her chest red. Mahiro Kiryu also described fighting Mizunami is like being hit with a mass of energy.

There was a special nod Kakeru Sekiguchi gave to Nao Kakuta when she used the Shiden Kai to beat Yoshiko Hasegawa. She learned the move from Kakuta and used it as thanks for bringing her into TJPW. It was also used as a special send off for Hasegawa’s upcoming retirement. Hasegawa hopes they will meet in the ring again one more time. Then she won’t let her get away with a win again!

Sayuri Namba announced she will be releasing her own photobook in late May.

Meanwhile Back In Japan, TJPW Golden Week Title Matches, Namba’s Dream Coming True

I’m going to be travelling to Las Vegas tomorrow and it’s going to be a long trip ahead. You will know I have arrived safe and sound when the guides for the DDT and Tokyo Joshi Pro shows get posted. That should be on Tuesday night Vegas time but if more things get announced or even changed it will have to wait until Wednesday morning. I’ll try to at least stay up to date with the show results for the rest of the week but show reports may take a while because I’m still meant to be on holiday. Enjoy the week and let it all seep in!

They believe Watase is not being honest about his recovery and is not wrestling at 100%. The sooner this match happens, the better their chances are to win the tag titles.

There is only one person HARUKAZE believes she can beat in a fair fight and she is desperate to finally win one match before her wrestling career is put on hiatus. So she’s breaking the emergency glass and picked Ken Ohka to be her final opponent!

The Ganbare☆Joshi match will feature Nanami from Diana and Kirari Wakana from Ice Ribbon.

The show will also have LEONA from Dradition taking part in a match. He and Namba were classmates in the same university so they both know each other from before they entered the pro wrestling industry. One of Namba’s dreams was to announce LEONA for a match so it will come true after all.

This is the full card for the TJPW show that is happening in Japan while the Las Vegas trip is going on. Four matches that are really six when you count all rounds of the main event. I’ll write more about this in next week’s DDT Around The World article but congratulations go out to Shoko Nakajima for winning the MLW Women’s World Featherweight Championship in America on Saturday! That’s the good news. The bad news is her and HIMAWARI are currently stranded in America because according to their tweets their flight home was delayed for half a day and then cancelled. Hopefully that gets sorted out quickly.

One day after the International Princess Title is being defended in America, the next No. 1 Contender will be decided back in Japan. An unusual tournament format will be used in a series of matches between wrestlers from the 2023 and 2024 classes. The first match will be an 8-Woman Tag Match with the two teams randomly selected by lottery. The winning team will move onto the next round where they will randomly split into two teams for a regular tag team match. The winning team from that will reach the final where the two remaining wrestlers face each other to become the No. 1 Contender. The date of the winner’s title shot depends on the result of the Suzume Vs Jada Stone title match happening in Las Vegas.

Dieno is willing to do that and completely drop his Danshoku moveset in order to get a singles match against Suzuki. For the moment this match has nothing to do with Suzuki’s DDT Universal Title. We’ll have to wait and see how his match with Yoshihiko goes in Vegas.

Saran is 16 years old yet is already reaching four years of in-ring experience under her belt.

Shota’s opponent Mikiya Sasaki is nicknamed the “Dotonbori Bronco” and is heavily influenced by Dory Funk Jr. He’s been wrestling for 20 years across the micro indies.

Vice President Akito praised everyone in the main event and thanked them all for being here. He complimented Nautilus for main eventing wrestling shows two days in a row, he thanked Jun Masaoka for coming in on short notice and he mentioned it was Makoto Oishi’s idea to bring him in. Today’s show makes Akito excited for the future of BOYZ.

Sadly there was no dance ending planned for the show. They couldn’t find the time to practice their dance routines because of the Coronavirus. Kazuki Hirata took the blame and apologized alongside Akito. Chris Brookes entered the ring trying to tell them not to apologize but was still adamant that he wasn’t going to dance. Akito and Hirata began to cry so Brookes whispered something into Hirata’s ear. Hirata excitedly brought in entrance robes and Tokyo GO! glasses. Brookes reluctantly put them on and began dancing with Hirata! Akito thanked him for saving the show.

The team of Kazusada Higuchi, Keigo Nakamura & Hideki Okatani all wrestled dressed as high school students armed with textbooks. Their behaviour was the opposite of HARASHIMA, Konosuke Takeshita & Yuko Miyamoto acting like yankees. The act was thrown away when Higuchi’s team all gave the yankees Low Blows. The yankees recovered and Miyamoto pinned Nakamura with the Moonsault.

Danshoku Dieno took his referee job today seriously and was too strict to a fault. He quickly counted to five on Akito after Shunma Katsumata reached a rope break. Akito convinced him not to end the match. Dieno then quickly counted out Katsumata for standing on the top turnbuckle. This time the match did end. Akito and Katsumata agreed to an immediate rematch and were very careful not to do anything Dieno would consider a foul. Dieno got accidentally knocked out after bumping into Akito so Yukinori Matsui replaced him. When Dieno woke up he attacked Matsui to take his spot back. While those two fought each other, Akito and Katsumata continued wrestling and knocked each other out. Dieno kicked Matsui in the crotch but Matsui fell head first into Dieno’s groin. All four people in the ring were knocked out so MAO ran in wearing a referee shirt and called off the match.

MAO also showed up in the Dress Code 3 Way Match as the referee. Antonio Honda, Mizuki Watase and Yumehito Imanari all wrestled in tuxedos and the goal was to strip down your opponents. All three of them stripped each other down to their underwear. By the end they were all beaten and tired so MAO began counting them out. They all grabbed MAO at 9 to try and pull themselves up but instead MAO’s pants were pulled down revealing he was wearing a loincloth underneath. MAO reached 10 and ended the match as a Triple Knockout draw.

The theme of this month’s opening ceremony was “Apron”. Every wrestler walked out looking like they were ready to cook. Some made it look sexy, others looked like they were ready to work a shift at Ebisuko Tavern.

1. Team Big Boomers Vs Young Dramatics: Jun Akiyama & Sanshiro Takagi defeated Keigo Nakamura & Hideki Okatani when Akiyama pinned Nakamura with the Exploder Suplex (9:46).
2. 4 Way Match: Danshoku Dieno defeated Toru Owashi, Kazuki Hirata and Nobuhiro Shimatani when Dieno pinned Hirata with a Cradle (0:10).
2a. Rematch: Danshoku Dieno & Toru Owashi defeated Kazuki Hirata & Nobuhiro Shimatani when Owashi pinned Hirata with a Cradle (4:28).
3. Chris Brookes, Makoto Oishi & Mizuki Watase defeated HARASHIMA, Antonio Honda & Yukio Naya when Oishi pinned Naya with a Crucifix Pin (9:46).
4. #DAMNHEARTS Vs ALL OUT!: Daisuke Sasaki, T-Hawk & Soma Takao defeated Konosuke Takeshita, Akito & Shunma Katsumata when T-Hawk pins Katsumata with the Night Ride (12:20).
5. DAMNATION Vs Eruption!: Kazusada Higuchi & Yukio Sakaguchi defeated Tetsuya Endo & Mad Paulie when Higuchi pinned Paulie with the Buchikamashi (11:29).
6. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Yuki Ueno & Naomi Yoshimura (c) defeated MIKAMI & Tanomusaku Toba when Ueno pinned Toba with the WR (18:50).

Nothing’s gonna stop the Nautilus train, not even the past! There was a point in DDT’s history when The Suicide Boyz were the glue that held the tag team division together. Nautilus beating them today for their 6th KO-D Tag Team Titles defence is a scalp they can claim with pride. Naomi Yoshimura kept MIKAMI at bay while Yuki Ueno got into a scrap with Tanomusaku Toba. Ueno took Toba’s best shot and fired back before hitting the WR to win. It was a hard shot though. Ueno admitted after the match he was still feeling light headed from one of the punches. Yoshimura said Nautilus will continue to build excitement in DDT.

Kazusada Higuchi is ready for Tetsuya Endo at the King Of DDT semi finals. Today’s preview match saw Higuchi Choke Slam Endo on top of Mad Paulie then followed up with a Diving Elbow onto Paulie. Yukio Sakaguchi nailed Paulie with the God’s Right Knee to the back of the head. What little fight Paulie had left was knocked out of him with the Buchikamashi sumo charge. Higuchi said he didn’t release his full power today too. Endo is confident he still knows how to handle Higuchi. You’ll see the real fight out of him at the semi final.

With Yuki Iino missing from the show due to a small back injury, Konosuke Takeshita led ALL OUT in the Haka in tribute to him at points in the match. T-Hawk taunted Akito after winning the match for #DAMNHEARTS. Akito responded that he isn’t stupid enough to show his hand before the semi final. Their final battle will be at Korakuen Hall. T-Hawk shrugged him off and said he will win the King Of DDT for both #DAMNHEARTS and #STRONGHEARTS.

Yukio Naya had Makoto Oishi held in a Samoan Drop position when Chris Brookes Super Kicked him. That caused Oishi to inadvertently roll Naya over into a Crucifix Pin and win the match.

Danshoku Dieno is still upset he cannot physically interact with the crowd during his entrance. He got with Kazuki Hirata while Hirata danced until Nobuhiro Shimatani knocked Hirata down with a Lariat. Dieno got rid of Shimatani with the Lip Lock and then pinned Hirata. This all happened before Toru Owashi could do anything so everyone agreed to an immediate tag team rematch.

The rookies wore their own black T-shirts that said “Wakazo” on them with “OK Boomer” underneath. Keigo Nakamura hates old fashioned companies and Hideki Okatani promised to do his best and kill old fashioned people. Sanshiro Takagi was offended by the shirts and said he was young. He and Okatani then argued about being old and young. Jun Akiyama beat up Nakamura and pinned him with the Exploder. He promised to stand on the front line with Takagi and fight together as Team Big Boomers. Takagi will do the same until their T-shirt sells out.
