1. Makoto Oishi defeated Hoshitango with a Juji-gatame (5:31).
2. Yasu Urano & Daisuke Sasaki defeated Poison Sawada JULIE & Masa Takanashi when Sasaki submitted Sawada with a Cattle Mutilation (8:06).
3. Hikaru Sato, Michael Nakazawa & Kazuki Hirata defeated HARASHIMA, HERO! & Tomimitsu Matsunaga by DQ when Matsunaga attacked the referee (12:24).
4. KUDO & Akito defeated Kenny Omega & Shigehiro Irie when KUDO pinned Irie with the Diving Double Knee Drop (15:24).
5. Danshoku Dino, Antonio Honda & Keisuke Ishii defeated Kota Ibushi, MIKAMI & Takao Soma when Ishii pinned MIKAMI with Kneel Kick (15:36).

It was decided during the show that whoever got the win in the main event would become the No. 1 Contender for the KO-D Openweight Title. Keisuke Ishii pinned MIKAMI in the 6-Man Tag Team bout to earn the title shot. He will face KUDO for the KO-D Championship on 28th August.

Another title match was announced for the 28/8 show. Danshoku Dino & Kota Ibushi will team up to challenge Masa Takanashi & Daisuke Sekimoto for the KO-D Tag Team Titles.

Sanshiro Takagi was in attendence scouting for wrestlers to join his TKG48. He announced that member No. 38 will be revealed at Union’s “BEER FIGHT 2011” event on 7th August.

Kenny Omega has declared war on All Japan! He has announced his new goal is to follow Kota Ibushi and win a Jr. Heavyweight Championship in Japan. Kenny is happy teaming with Kota Ibushi and Michael Nakazawa in DDT. Outside DDT, Kenny wants to go after the AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Title that is currently held by KAI.

Daisuke Sasaki brought a crystal ball into the ring during his Tag Team match. The mysterious crystal ball had a powerful effect on Posion Sawada JULIE, weakening him enough for Sasaki to defeat him. Sawada has challenged Sasaki to a match at the “BEER FIGHT 2011 ~ DDT DAY” show on 13th August.

The Campground Pro Wrestling show will return on 4th September. While last year’s show was supposed to be the last time DDT would go to Yamanashi Natureland Om, the event proves to popular to ignore.

The main event of this week’s Monthly Young Communication event had Keisuke Ishii and Shigehiro Irie fight to a 20 minute draw. A rivalry has been building up between the two top prospects from the newest generation of DDT and Union wrestlers so when their most recent battle ended in a stalemate, they both requested a rematch. Tsurumi Amon complied and made the match for 24/07 at Sumo Hall.

So far 12 competitors have been added to the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title Battle Royal. Antonio Honda is currently the champion but there is no doubt the title will change hands numerous times before we get to Sumo Hall. Expect more entries to appear in the match as well. This will also be Makoto Oishi’s first match back since his injury from last month put him on the sidelines..

An election has taken place to determine the lucky man who will participate in the Anal Blast opening ceremony. Three names have been put forward: Michael Nakazawa (nominated by himself), Batten Tamagawa (nominated by Sanshiro Takagi) and Tanomusaku Toba (nominated by Danshoku Dino). 3. Kota Ibushi & KUDO defeated HARASHIMA & Yukihiro Abe when KUDO pinned Abe with the Diving Double Knee Drop (16:11).
4. 1990s Foreigner Royal Rumble: S. Hansen (Antonio Honda) defeated J. Deaton (Ken Ohka) with the Western Lariat (21:36).
Order Of Entries: J. Ace (Shuji Ishikawa), S. Hansen (Antonio Honda), A. Butcher (???), S. Hansen (Sanshiro Takagi), J. Kimala (Hoshitango), S. Hansen (???), B. Gunn (Seiya Morohashi), S. 5. Takao Omori defeated Keisuke Ishii with the Axe Bomber (16:19).

Keisuke Ishii said it was a dream come true to face Takao Omori aswell as to produce his own event. But he also said there are still a lot of dreams he wants to accomplish and he will work hard towards achieving them.

Shuji Ishikawa replaced Tanomusaku Toba in Match #2. Toba suffered a broken nose during his match with Tsuyoshi Kikuchi at the Cruiser’s Game event held earlier.

Keisuke Ishii’s opponents in the dark match were all childhood friends of his. They included a freeter, a salary-man and an unemployed person. Home-made video footage of them as kids wrestling in their bedrooms was shown on the screen before the show. To help bring back such fond memories of their childhood, they had a bed placed inside the ring to do all of their moves on during the match.

DDT And Union In NEVER Tournament

March 5, 2011

Looks like Ken Ohka’s begging paid off. The NEVER brand from New Japan Pro Wrestling will be hosting a 16-Man Tournament on the 7th & 8th of April. Both DDT and Union will be represented in the tournament. DDT will enter Keisuke Ishii & Kazuki Hirata, both of whom have already wrestled in NEVER. Union will have Ken Ohka & Shinichiro Tominaga representing them. Other wrestlers involved here who also regularly appear in DDT and Union include Daisuke Sasaki, Tsuyoshi Kikuchi and Madoka. We are not far away from the annual Best Of The Super Juniors tournament and a great, breakout performance by any of these wrestlers could potentially pave the way for an invitation to take part in the competition.

New Matches for Cruiser’s Game, Ishii’s Show

February 18, 2011

CRUISER’S GAME, 06/03/2011
Shin-Kiba 1st Ring

1. El Samurai Vs Natsuki☆Taiyo
2. Tsuyoshi Kikuchi Vs Tanomusaku Toba
3. Battle Pink Ryota Vs Super Mask Man
4. Dick Togo & TAKA Michinoku Vs The Great Sasuke & MIKAMI

Battle Pink Ryota and Super Mask Man come from the SWS promotion which is run by students from Teikyo University in Tokyo. For anyone interested in seeing the fed in action, their Youtube channel can be found here.

Natsuki☆Taiyo is a female wrestler who is currently with the new STARDOM joshi promotion. She is also a two time Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion.

Other wrestlers scheduled to compete on the show include the return of HARASHIMA’s old gimmick HERO!, Marines Mask II, Cosmo ☆ Soldier, Makoto Oishi, Madoka and Yuki Sato.

DDT “KESIUKE ISHII’S PRODUCE SHOW”, 06/03/2011
Shin-Kiba 1st RING

1. Tsuyoshi Kikuchi Vs Tomimitsu Matsunaga
2. Tanomusaku Toba & Hikaru Sato Vs Kazuki Hirata & Hiro Tsumaki
3. Kota Ibushi & KUDO Vs HARASHIMA & Yukihiro Abe
4. 1990s Foreigner Royal Rumble
5. Keisuke Ishii Vs Takao Omori

All of the matches were decided by Keisuke Ishii himself. There will also be a dark match featuring fighters from Style-E. The 1990s Foreigner Rumble sounds like a lot of fun if it turns out to be the DDT roster impersonating different wrestlers from that time period. Unless I got the translation wrong and Keisuke somehow found himself 90 different foreign wrestlers to take part in the match (simply having Kenny Omega, Hoshitango and Choun-Shiryu entering 30 times each doesn’t count).

5. DDT Tokyo Beginning of Fight 2011 Special Tag Match: Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega defeated HARASHIMA & KUDO when Omega pinned KUDO with the Croyth’s Wrath (16:55)
6. KO-D Openweight Title Unification Match: Dick Togo (c) defeated Antonio Honda (i/c) with the Diving Senton (26:24).
*Dick Togo becomes the 35th KO-D Openweight Champion.

With the injury setback now behind him, Dick Togo reclaimed his place on top of the DDT landscape by defeating Antonio Honda to unite the KO-D Openweight Championship with its unified version. In a correction to what I wrote a while back, Togo is officially the 35th KO-D Champion and now a 4-time holder of the title.

A Royal Rumble will take place at the 11th February Shin-Kiba 1st Ring show to determine the next challenger for Togo. The confirmed challengers so far are HARASHIMA, KUDO, Kota Ibushi, MIKAMI, Keisuke Ishii and Daisuke Sasaki. Also set to take place on the night is Dick Togo Vs DJ Nira in a non-title match and Kenny Omega Vs Michael Nakazawa.

Kota Ibushi had to go to the hospital for a CAT Scan after he suffered a mild concussion after a High Kick by HARASHIMA. He is likely to recover quickly and not miss any of the upcoming shows.

Keisuke Ishii was victorious in the Battle Royal. He will now get to produce his own show for the DDT Brand tripleshot at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring on 6th March. An extra rule was added to the match. The Suzumiya Haruhi theme song was played for almost the entire match. Whenever the song reached its chorus, everyone in the ring had to do the “Hare Hare Yukai” dance or be eliminated. Yukihiro Abe spent the match dressed as the main character from the series.

The disqualification in match #2 led to Hikaru Sato challenging Takao Soma to a match at the 27th Fabruary Korakuen Hall show. The match was accepted and will be Hair Vs Hair!

Bob Sapp was announced to appear at DDT’s Sumo Hall show on 24th August. Yes, that Bob Sapp. A video was shown of “The Beast” confronting Sanshiro Takagi and Ken Ohka at DDT HQ. Takagi came up with some suggestions on Twitter for Sapp’s opponent. So far he’s thought of Bob Sapp Vs Tsuyoshi Kikuchi, Bob Sapp Vs Tsurumi Goro and Bob Sapp Vs Ultraman Robin. A fun little fact that comes out of this is that in the space of a year, three former IWGP Heavyweight Champions have appeared in DDT so far: Genichiro Tenryu, Togi Makabe & Manabu Nakanishi. Bob Sapp will make it four if he does indeed show up and compete on the night.

Speaking of Takagi, he seems to be very pleased to be the “World’s Second Largest Promoter!” after the Wrestling Observer Awards came out.
