7b. One Count Match: Seiya Morohashi defeated Kenny Omega with a Cradle Cutback (5:41).
7c. ABC Match: Kenny Omega defeated Seiya Morohashi with the Croyt’s Wrath (10:45).
*V1 for Kenny Omega.
8. KO-D Openweight Title Challenger Tournament – Final: Shigehiro Irie defeated Makoto Oishi with the Vertical Drop Back Flip (13:19).

As the winner of the MAGP Award tournament, Shigehiro Irie was given the grand prize of a KO-D Openweight Title shot on 20/3 and also 2000 yen. Irie correctly identified the cash prize in English this time. But he already knew how to say “two thousand,” so it’s hard to tell if his English is improving.

The DDT Extreme Title match was fought as a Best 2-out-of-3 match with each fall having a different stipulation chosen by a fan vote leading up to the show. The first round was a bodybuilding contest which Kenny won by audience vote. The second round was a match was a One Count match where you only have to pin your opponent for one second. Morohashi won by countering a Cradle from Omega. The final fall was an ABC Match where you can only win with a move beginning with the letter A, B or C. Omega won with the Croyt’s Wrath.

Michael Nakazawa approached Kenny after the match offering an apology for the sneak attack on him last week. This is despite the fact that Nakazawa did the same thing to Hikaru Sato after the NAKAZAWA 7 match earlier in the show. Kenny responded by kicking Nakazawa between the legs and yelled “Show me your guts! Show me your spirit!”

After defeating Keisuke IshiiTomoaki Honma said he will tell Ishii what he was missing. But disaster struck when and invisible blow dart shot into his neck and made him faint. Ishii had enough with the constant teasing and challenged Sanshiro Takagi to a match at Yokohama on 10th March.

Michael Nakazawa created the NAKAZAWA 7 match to help prepare for his upcoming KO-D Title shot in four days time. It was pretty much a 6-on-1 Handicap match where a wrestler exits the match after beating Nakazawa. It ended with Hikaru Sato placing Nakazawa in an Ankle Hold but Nakazawa refused to submit. He tried to withstand the pain for as long as he could but Tetsuya Endo threw in a t-shirt to forfeit the match for Nakazawa’s safety. Sato told Nakazawa he was rooting for him against Kenny Omega and Nakazawa’s response, as mentioned above, was to kick Sato in the groin. Nakazawa then yelled he will always be standing and will continue to stand. If I understood him correctly, Nakazawa could be facing Omega in a Last Man Standing match for the KO-D Title.

The Monster Army declared the ring as their battlefield after winning the opening match.

HARASHIMA appeared and apologised to the fans for pulling out of the show due to a mandible fracture.

Sanshiro Takagi & Toru Owashi compared their rivalry to the likes of Stan Hansen & Bruiser Brody or Genichiro Tenryu & Jumbo Tsuruta.

The second Tokyo Women’s Wrestling preview event will take place on 25th March.

Ken Ohka held a press conference inside the building to announce his brand new promotion Ganbare☆Wrestling. Out of the 15,000 yen Ohka stole from Tsurumi Amon found, he still has 10,005 yen to spend. He is planning to hold Ganbare’s first event in Nankai on 6th March.

Kenny Omega Vs Michael Nakazawa is a match so important it has to get it’s own show! With the KO-D Title on stake, this match won’t be fun and games for either man.

6. KO-D Openweight Title: Kenny Omega (c) defeated HARASHIMA with the One-Winged Angel (20:24).
*V2 for Kenny Omega.

Kenny Omega requested a match against his good friend Michael Nakazawa. When Omega first came to Japan, Nakazawa was there for him and has been ever since. However, he doesn’t want to have a comedy match. He knows Nakazawa can make it to the next step and wants to give him one chance to prove it. Nakazawa thanked Omega for the opportunity, said he will be at 120% and will beat Omega.

KUDO achieved something rare today. He is one of the few wrestlers in Japan to win his first match back from an injury. He was rewarded with the MAGP Award from Tsurumi Amon. A tournament between all of the MAGP Award winners will take place in Shin-Kiba 1st RING on 24/2. KUDO will compete with Makoto Oishi, Yasu Urano and the next person to win the award.

Keisuke Ishii’s quest to discover what he is missing to be a complete pro wrestler has brought him face to face with Yoshihiko. The doll wrestled dressed in the AKB48 “Flying Get” costume. Since it has no hair, I’m guessing Yoshihiko was pretending to be Minami Minegishi, the AKB48 singer who controversially shaved her head as punishment for being caught spending the night with a male friend. Drift was able to beat The Golden Rendezvous with Ishii pinning Gota Ihashi. Afterwards Ishii demanded Yoshihiko to tell him what he was missing, but it stayed silent. Ishii then demanded Sanshiro Takagi to come out and tell him. Instead he got a video message from President Takagi telling him he was still a student and he needed to wrestle a teacher. That teacher is Tomoaki Honma! Ishii Vs Honma was made for the 24/2 Shin-Kiba show.

Jushin Liger had some pretty nasty things to say about DDT and their fans after he & Hiromu Takahashi beat Yukio Sakaguchi & Akito. Liger called all DDT fans rotten and then challenged Sakaguchi to a singles match anywhere, even in DDT if they have to. A voice in the crowd yelled at them to do the match now and Liger said he would, leading him and Takahashi to attack Sakaguchi and Akito and start a brawl between the four.

Toru Owashi has been welcomed back into DDT after his assessment match. Sanshiro Takagi wasn’t interested in being involved and gave his own partner Michael Nakazawa a Stunner when the match begun. Owashi pinned Nakazawa but Tsurumi Amon demanded the match to restart and pleaded with Takagi to take the match seriously. The rematch began and Takagi gave Nakazawa another Stunner. Nakazawa recovered and Takagi soon got involved in the match properly, using Nakazawa as a weapon on Ken Ohka to win the match. Takagi then accepted Owashi back into DDT. Ohka however was very upset. He resigned from Union and his loss here means he is not good enough for DDT. While Amon tried to console him, Ohka “found” an envelope in Amon’s pocket with 15,000 yen inside it. He decided to start his own wrestling promotion with blackjack and hookers! Takagi told Ohka how difficult it is to launch a promotion with only 15,000 yen but was so impressed with his passion that he allowed Ohka to take Amon’s money and go ahead with his plan.

A big name was announced for “RYOGOKU PETER PAN 2013” on 18th August, the second of DDT’s two Sumo Hall shows. Kensuke Sasaki will be there!

One of my favorite matches in DDT will be brought back on 20th March, The Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Contract Battle Royal! Hikaru Sato also announced a one day grappling tournament will take place that same day.

Kazuki Hirata will return from injury on 20/3 for his first match since January of last year when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament.

Ken Ohka has jumped to DDT! He interrupted a meeting between Sanshiro Takagi and Toru Owashi earlier today that was done to create hype for the 2-on-1 Handicap match that will determine whether or not Owashi deserves a spot in DDT. Barely a day has past since Ohka forced himself to resign from Union after his defeat to Keisuke Ishii in a Loser Leaves Town match yet he claims “The Messiah” is already in hot demand from other promotions. Both Takagi and Owashi told Ohka if that is true then he should go away and join WWE or TNA. Tsurumi Amon decided to make things fair for Owashi and turn the Handicap match into a Tag Team match with Ohka as his teammate.

*V1 for Kenny Omega. Isami Kodaka fails in V1. Kenny Omega becomes the 22nd DDT Extreme Champion!

Kenny Omega can now call himself a Double Champion! He now adds the DDT Extreme Title to keep his KO-D Openweight Title company. Omega has his theme music played live by the Capcom band ROCK-MEN while Isami Kodaka was accompanied by members of Union as well as MIKAMI. The One-Winged Angel was the deciding factor and Isami admitted defeat afterwards. Omega nominated HARASHIMA as his next challenger for beating him in the KO-D Tag Team Title match from a week ago. Kenny pointed out that HARASHIMA has yet to beat him in a singles match.

Prepare the tanks, the Monster Army are now the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions! Not a bad birthday present for Yuji Hino, who turns 28 today. Antonio Honda declared he will start the auction for the belts at 300 million yen. Keisuke Ishii was devastated to lose the 6-Man Tag Title so soon after losing the DDT Extreme Title.

Toru Owashi appeared to announce his full time return to wrestling. He has spent the last couple of years away from wrestling raising enough money to move to Tokyo. Now he is running his own shop in Tokyo and is able to wrestle again. Sanshiro Takagi isn’t excited about the news. He thinks DDT has enough wrestlers and wonders why Owashi hasn’t gone looking for other promotions. Tsurumi Amon will put Owashi through a series of matches to see if he is good enough to come back.

Yuzuki Aikawa’s DDT farewell was ruined by Danshoku Dino & Akiawa’s fellow Stardom wrestler Yoshiko. Dino debuted a brand new finisher to pin Sanshiro Takagi. From what I can guess, the Shin Danshoku Driver is a Beach Break with the victim’s head shoved into the back of Dino’s tights. Takagi demanded a rematch and told Aikawa that there is one place she hasn’t bounced and wrestled in yet, the streets!

KUDO will return to action on the 17/2 Korakuen Hall show, making the Ura-Shima-Kudo unit complete again. FUMA interrupted the announcement saying that the group is now called Ura-Shima-Fuma. FUMA and Yasu Urano argued over who is actually a member of the group with Urano pointing out that FUMA is challenging him and HARASHIMA for the KO-D Tag Titles on 10/2. They shook hands but Urano then blindsided FUMA with the Tombstone Piledriver.

Hiroshi Fukuda was not happy to take on five wrestlers in a Handicap match. He demanded to Tsurumi Amon that if he won the match, he should get a prize of his choosing. Amon accepted the idea but Fukuda tricked him by switching spots with Gota Ihashi before the match. DJ Nira defended Ihashi and teamed with him to make it 4 Vs 2 only to betray him with a Rocket Punch. Fukuda gave Ihashi the Perfect Plex but only got a two count. Fukuda reacted with a loud “Nooooooooooo!!!!” Ihashi capitlised on Fukuda’s shock and pinned him to win the match. Amon asked an upset Fukuda what his wish was. Fukuda wanted to become just like Vince and promote his own show. Amon misunderstood and thought Fukuda meant Vince Russo and he wanted the return of WCW and Monday Nitro. Fukuda meant he wanted to run his own brand in Shin-Kiba and turn it into an American wrestling territory. He wants to call it United Superstars Action, USA for shot. Amon actually liked the idea and told Fukuda it can happen in the spring. Fukuda is already taking match suggestions on Twitter. One request was Antonio Honda Vs Jerry Lawler. Fukuda replied he will save that match for when he books Madison Square Garden.

Shigehiro Irie has signed a contract with DDT and is now an official full time DDT wrestler. Irie noted his humble beginnings wrestling in Nagoya leading him into DDT. Tsurumi Amon gave Irie his first order as a DDT employee, name every season in English. Irie could only knew Summer. Amon told him to do his best in the future.

There is another trainee coming into DDT. So far the name for this person I can find is T. Koda. The person was joined in the ring by the Tokyo Women’s Wrestling trainees during the announcement. Referee Daisuke Kiso was chosen to be Chikage Kiba’s opponent for the Sambo Exhibition on TWW’s preview event in Akihabara on 30/1.

7. KO-D Openweight Title & DDT Extreme Title: Kenny Omega (c) Vs Isami Kodaka (c)

Both Kenny Omega and Isami Kodaka had plenty of praise to give each other when they met to promote their KO-D Openweight & DDT Extreme Double Title match. Omega has a lot of respect for Kodaka due to his spirit and technique. As the DDT Extreme Champion, Kodaka was allowed to choose the stipulation for the match. He was tempted to make it a hardcore match so both men could do whatever they wanted in the ring. He decided to leave it as a normal match so if he beats Omega, it will prove without a doubt that he deservedly won the KO-D Championship. Kenny compared the match up to something like Street Fighter X Tekken or Capcom Vs SNK. He is 99% sure he can beat Kodaka but there is a chance a lucky punch will beat him. Kodaka said he has that punch but he acquired it from dedicated training instead of relying on luck.

The Monster Army have threatened to sell the KO-D 6-Man Tag Titles if they win them and use the money to buy tanks! Antonio Honda explained that after he and his teammates win the belts, he will go wrestle in Vietnam and become famous. That will somehow increase the value of the belts to the point where they can afford tanks. Honda also warned Keisuke Ishii that at 27 years old, Ishii is at the stage of life when a person has the worst luck. Many many musicians have died at the age of 27 and Ishii could join them. Ishii pointed out that Daisuke Sasaki and Yuji Hino are also 27 years old. Ishii’s 28th birthday will be around a week after the show and he promises he will still have the title when he celebrates it.

6. KO-D Openweight Title: Kenny Omega defeated El Generico (c) with the One-Winged Angel (24:01).
*El Generico fails in V3. Kenny Omega becomes the 44th KO-D Openweight Champion!

Kenny Omega did it! He finishes off an excellent year by becoming the man to dethrone El Generico and finally win the KO-D Openweight Title. Despite the two being friends away from the ring, there was little good manners seen in the match when Omega offered a handshake and Generico kicked him away. When the Croyt’s Wrath didn’t work for the challenger, he had to bring out the One-Winged Angel to put Generico away for good.

Keisuke Ishii passed a difficult challenge in his first defence of the DDT Extreme Title by defeating Yasu Urano and Keisuke Ishii in a 3 Way match. Ishii was able to win without doing the overdone finish of letting your opponents beat each other up, then go steal the pin. Instead, Ishii took out Kodaka with the Kneel Kick. Urano played possum and caught Ishii with a flash roll up but only got a two count. From there Ishii caught Urano and went into overkill with two Fisherman Busters, a High Kick and then the High Angle Double Arm DDT to win the match in dominating fashion.

The COZY Police Force always get their men. Antonio Honda and the rest of the Monster Army recently became thieves and stole wrestling gear from every single locker room they’ve stepped foot in. When they stole an important briefcase from Tsurumi Amon, Sanshiro Takagi called in Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Satoshi Kojima to help him catch the criminal. TenKoji became victims themselves when the Monster Army stole their signature nose tape and entrance gear before the match. The Monster Army all came down wearing one of the stolen goods to taunt their opponents. Justice soon came down and the COZY Police Force won the battle and literally arrested the Monster Army.

The briefcase was returned to Tsurumi Amon and he later revealed its contents. Amon announced that DDT now has a brand new championship, the KO-D 6 Person Tag Team Championship. The title will have its first champions crowned after a one day tournament between four teams in Osaka on 12/1.

Gorgeous Matsuno Vs Yukio Sakaguchi will take place on 12/1. Danshoku Dino will take on El Samurai on 20/1 in Nagoya.

Ibushi And Omega Train For Budokan

August 14, 2012

Both Kota Ibushi and Kenny Omega have been keeping DDT fans up to date on their preparations for their KO-D Title match at the 15th Anniverary Show in Budokan Hall this Saturday. Both of the Golden Lovers held seperate public practice sessions over the last two days to demonstrate their progress.

First up was Kota Ibushi’s session held yesterday inside a dojo in Chiba. With a mountain of crash pads piled up inside the ring, Ibushi used Gota Ihashi as a crash test dummy and found numerous ways to spike Ihashi onto his head and neck. The most deadly moves used were the 24 Years Old (Orange Crush), a Razor’s Edge and a Top Rope Piledriver. Unsurprisingly, Ibushi eventually broke Ihashi and had to drag a discouraged Ken Ohka into the ring to finish off the session. And he finished it off with a Top Rope Phoenix Plex, breaking Ohka in the process.

Afterwards, Ibushi took some questions from the press in attendence. When asked about the moves he demonstrated, Ibushi said none were ever used on Omega and it will be quite a challenge to pull them off in the match. They are also moves he either rarely uses or haven’t used regularly at matches in years. However, since he is able to perform such powerful moves on a heavy wrestler like Ihashi, then he will be able to do them on the smaller wrestler like Omega. Ibushi feels the pressure being in the main event and does not expect a short and decisive battle. However, Ibushi has a lot of moves in his arsenal, some of which he is keeping secret from the public.

When Ihashi and Ohka finally regained conciousness the press asked them how painful the moves felt. Ohka said they will be much more dangerous without the mats in the ring. When asked where he feels the most damage, Ohka exclaimed “You know! The neck.” Ihashi complained about his body feeling numb and said it was not the first time he was rendered unconcious by Ibushi during his training. When asked who will win the match, both men said Ibushi.

Kenny Omega’s public session was held today in a Saitama gym. Omega was accompanied by professional fighters Isamu Sugiuchi and Jason Geiger. Omega said he took up Jiu-Jitsu specifically to target Ibushi’s weak shoulder along with developing a good ground defence and a counter for Ibushi’s leg sweeps. Omega and Sugiuchi sparred in the ring where Omega was able to outwrestle his partner and put him in a Cross Armbreaker.

When the sparring ended, Omega then talked about building up his body and his stamina with weight training. He lifted weights in a similar way to lifting opponents for the Croyt’s Wrath and followed that with the Barbell Curl and the Clean & Press. Omega said his abs were his weakness so he did these exercises to strengthen his abs and back.

Omega also took questions from the press when the session came to an end. He said he originally began training in Jiu-Jitsu back in 2004 but took a break in 2008. Today was the first time in a long time he got to train Jiu-Jitsu again. He wanted to train with Geiger because he is a champion from Canada. When asked if this style of training was only being done for the match against Ibushi, Omega said his days of training back in Canada during the summer has conditioned him to tough sessions like this and he could go on for 60 minutes. Omega also said that although he has strong moves like the Croyt’s Wrath and One-Winged Angel, he is thinking of adding all sorts of submissions to win rather than just throw out his usual techniques. Omega isn’t feeling any pressure and doesn’t find the position he is in scary at all. However, Ibushi is his friend and he does not want to injure him. He dedicates the match to all fans of DDT and promises to win the belt and have the best match.

Isamu Sugiuchi said that he met Kenny for the first time when he wrestled at a DDT just over one year ago. He called Omega an amazing talent and was surprised at how powerful he is in the ring. Jason Geiger said that Omega has been focused for a long time and is filled with more power and stamina than he has ever seen. He also said that Ibushi better have trained hard.

Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title: Gota Ihashi defeated Hiroshi Fukuda (c) with a Corkscrew Uppercut (9:23 pm).
*Gota Ihashi becomes the 943rd champion.

Hiroshi Yamato got to experience first hand just how perverted Michael Nakazawa, Hikaru Sato and even Kenny Omega can be. The main event saw the usual Do Hentai Dan tactics come into play. Sato got Yamato to join in and spit the lotion into Nakazawa’s face. Yamato avoided Nakazawa’s Venom Maker and won the match with a Cross Arm Suplex. Afterwards Nakazawa apologised to Omega for losing the match. Kenny joked that he still blames Michael and that he has no luck going into Budokan Hall. Michael wished Kenny luck and was joined by the Ice Ribbon girls to tell Kenny to do his best.

Tanomusaku Toba was the referee for the Boxing Rules match. Kota Ibushi and Gota Ihashi fought so hard it wound up outside the arena. Ibushi got so into the match that when he knocked Ihashi into the corner and would not relent, Toba put on his own gloves and threw punches at Ibushi. Toba then sided with Ihashi and they both tried to KO Ibushi. The KO-D Champion was able to knock down Toba and give Ihashi a German Suplex. He then knocked him out for a 10 count with a Straight Right punch. After the match all three men reconciled and raised each other’s hands.

Weapons used during the Rock-Paper-Scissors Death Match included a plastic mallet, a metal can, a “steel” bear trap, a steaming hot bowl of dumplings, the Ice Ribbon girls and a bottle of sake. Every time a weapon was introduced, Isami Kodaka and Masa Takanashi played Rock-Paper-Scissors with the winner getting one free use of the weapon on the loser. The loser was provided with a Gundam helmet to protect himself, if he could put it on in time.

Ohka took out a pair of scissors and placed them up to the fringe of his hair. He said he was doing this as a display of determination. Ohka told Tosaka he will bet anything in his Hardcore match with Ito. Susan stepped in and proposed that the loser of the match will have to raise a glass of champagne to the winner.

Are you ready to be taken for a ride? Kenny Omega will soon be getting brand new entrance music to replace his popular remix of the “Dr. Wily” theme from Mega Man 2. But fans of his current theme have nothing to worry about as his new song comes straight from Capcom themselves. The song will be produced by ROCK-MEN, a collaborative effort made up of different members from Capcom’s sound team. Last year they released a full album of songs based on tracks several different Mega Man games called “We Are ROCK-MEN!”. The currently untitled song will be used for the first time at the 30/6 DDT show in Shin-Kiba 1st RING.
