DDT will return to Sumo Hall on 17th and 18th August 2013. That’s right, DDT will be doing two Ryogoku shows back to back! That’s not all, Sanshiro Takagi said that his goal for DDT’s 20th Anniversary is to run the Tokyo Dome!

Kota Ibushi defeats Kenny Omega in what could be the biggest match of both their careers. In a match that went nearly 40 minutes, both men put everything on the line for the right to be called KO-D Champion. Kenny targeted Ibushi’s right shoulder while Ibushi fought back with his sharp kicks. Pretty soon both men went high risk with Tope Con Hilos, Quebradas and top rope Frankensteiners were brought into play. Given their habits for fighting away from the squared circle, it was no surprise that their match soon spilled towards the entrance stage. It was there that Ibushi levelled up, climbed up a stage structure and Moonsaulted onto Omega below. Back in the ring they were both filled with smiles as they continued to throw everything they could at each other. Ibushi avoided the Avalanche One-Winged Angel and finally put Kenny away with the Phoenix Splash to end their spectacle.

The semi-main event was advertised as a Budokan match that only DDT could get away it. Danshoku Dino Vs The Invisible Man! Dino was given a special pair of glasses to wear so he could see The Invisible Man as they wrestled. He was also accompanied his fellow Homoiro Clover Z members as well as Yusuke Inokuma at ringside. But there was a dangerous new stipulation added on the request of The Invisible Man. The ring ropes were rigged up to an electric current. When the match reached the 5 minute mark, the ropes would get one million volts of electricity flowing through it. Any contact would create a powerful explosion. The Invisible Man, who has apparently been a part of DDT since Day 1 and been ignored for most of it, put all of his anger and frustration into the match. He sent a message to Sanshiro Takagi and the rest of the DDT locker room by giving Dino a Stunner then sent him flying into the ropes. The resulting explosion left Dino unconcious and defeated. The Invisible Man said that this was the beginning of his march to the main event!

One year after their match was set, Sanshiro Takagi and Minoru Suzuki went head to head at the Budokan. With a Weapons Rumble Handicap in his favour, Takagi carefully picked the weapons he thought would help him defeat Suzuki. Those ‘weapons’ turned out to be Mecha Mummy’s fist and drill (didn’t work), New Sanshiro Takagi (didn’t work), Yuzuki Aikawa (actually sort of worked), the entire Muscle Army (didn’t work, Suzuki easily destroyed them) and Yoshiaki Fujiwara (most effective of the lot). Takagi’s downfall came when Suzuki slipped off his shoulders during the Sunflower Bomb. Suzuki trapped Takagi with a Sleeper Hold and then hit the Gotch-Style Piledriver to win.

After the match, Takagi thanked Suzuki for fighting him on the big stage. Takagi felt this was the best wrestling show he was ever a part of and now it was time to retire. The crowd were shocked at the announcement and Takagi was given the ten bell salute. But Takagi then suddenly interrupted the ceremony to admit he was lying.

The Five-A-Side Football Match begun as a 10-Man Tag Team Ironman match fought in two halves. Each half was five minutes long. After the time was up the result was a tie. Tokatsu FC and Akira-waku FC bought scored two falls. A penalty shootout would take place as the tiebreaker. A penalty area with goalposts were set up on the entrance stage. Masa Takanashi and Hoshitango were the only ones to score their penalty shots, resulting in a victory for Tokatsu FC.

Cherry and Gota Ihashi both had to pull out of the Iron Man Royal Rumble due to illness. Cherry is suffering from rubella while Ihashi has acute enteritis. Speaking of the Rumble, Kyohei Wada was the referee. Yoshihiko came out impersonating A. YAZAWA and was the last man along with Yoshiaki Fujiwara in the Rumble. Their battle was described on Twitter by Samurai TV as a “Close Encounter Of The Third Kind.”

Saint Seiya Rion sang the Saint Seiya anime theme song for his entrance.

The Muscle Dark Match began without Muscle Sakai. Something happened that kept him from wrestling until he finally arrived via taxi and cleaned house, defeating the Style-E invaders with his Muscle teammates.

No anal explosion for Michael Nakazawa this year.

6. Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega defeated Danshoku Dino & YOSHIHIKO when Omega pinned YOSHIHIKO with the Two Storey Croyt’s Wrath (21:24).

The Golden Lovers teamed together to defeat their most infamous opponents just one month before Kota Ibushi and Kenny Omega will battle each other on the biggest stage in DDT history. Danshoku Dino and YOSHIHIKO knew how serious this match was. YOSHIHIKO wrestled the match dressed as Warsman, the character beloved by Kinnikuman fans for his ruthless abilities. However, the comnbined powers of Ibushi and Omega were too much and Omega defeated YOSHIHIKO with the Croyt’s Wrath to Dino with YOSHIHIKO on top of Dino’s shoulders. Afterwards, Omega thanked everyone involved for the great match. He said he wants to enjoy the rest of his matches before the 15th Anniversary Show in Budokan Hall because he knows his match with Ibushi there will be a war.

Celebrations were then interrupted when a challenge was thrown at Danshoku Dino. Unknown to everybody in attendence, the Invisible Man entered the ring and demanded to face Dino at Budokan Hall! Dino said he couldn’t see where he was, not even his butt. Nevertheless, Dino accepted the challenge. That’s right, Budokan Hall will see Danshoku Dino Vs The Invisible Man!

After losing to Shuji Ishikawa in a Hardcore Match, HARASHIMA announced his tag team partner to face Ishikawa & Ryuji Ito at the 15th Anniversary Show. HARASHIMA’s partner will be New Japan’s Unchained Gorilla, Togi Makabe!

Even though KUDO & Makoto Oishi won their third straight defence of the KO-D Tag Titles, it came at a price. Oishi had to be stretchered away from ringside after Keisuke Ishii gave him an RKO onto the floor outside the ring.

An update of the Bolivia Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title Tour was read out to the crowd. Dick Togo was the champion but he lost it to Bolivian wrestler AJAYU. AJAYU then lost it to Yuki Sato. Sato then lost it to a local child. Dick Togo then beat the child and is now currently champion.

Daichi Kakimoto announced that he will make his long awaited return to the ring at Budokan Hall! It has been four years since Kakimoto has wrestled when a back injury ended his career. Since then he still worked for DDT eventually becoming the man in charge of the Dropkick Bar. Kakimoto said he had been discouraged so many times but finally reached the point where he could wrestle again. He will compete in the Iron Man Battle Royal and he looks forward to giving someone a German Suplex. Kakimoto said that this is not his return but it will lead to the next step of his career.

Yoshiaki Fujiwara was also announced to compete at the Iron Man Battle Royal.

After losing to Tatsumi Fujinami in his return match, MIKAMI asked Fujinami if they could team together and challenge for the KO-D Tag Team Title in Budokan Hall. Fujinami accepted the offer.

The show began with a 12-Man Tag Team match that saw Tetsuya Endo pick up his first pinfall in his DDT career. Afterwards it was announced that the two teams competing in the Budokan Hall football match were named Crying Wolf and The Familia. Endo will be part of The Familia team.

Sanshiro Takagi invited Muscle Sakai into the ring at the end of the show. He told Sakai that his dark match at Budokan Hall will begin at 3:30 pm and will have a 30 minute time limit. The show itself begins at 4:00 pm so if Sakai’s match is still going on, it will be stopped immediately so the show can properly begin.

The DDT48 General Election returns for a third year beginning at the end of August. Voting begins on 26th August. and ends on 30th September. The results will be announced on 3rd October.

A bunch of Anywhere Pro Wrestling shows are being scheduled after the 15th Anniversary show. A match will be held in Ohama Beach, Kanagawa on 22nd August, the Campsite Pro Wrestling will take place on 9th September and DDT will appear at rock festival in Aomori on 22nd September.

6. KO-D Openweight Title: Kota Ibushi defeated Yuji Hino (c) with the Phoenix Plex (21:12).
*Yuji Hino fails in V2. Kota Ibushi becomes the 42nd KO-D Openweight Champion!

The Golden Star has completed his climb back to the top of DDT! After a 20 minute battle with the K-DOJO powerhouse Yuji Hino, the KO-D Openweight Title is now around the waist of Kota Ibushi for the second time in his career. Ibushi dug deep and defeated Hino with the Phoenix Plex, a move Ibushi had only previously used once before against HARASHIMA at Sumo Hall back in 2009. Now he waits for the KING OF DDT 2012 winner to meet him in Budokan Hall.

Or maybe not. Someone had to come in and spoil the party and that someone was DJ Nira. As Ibushi was celebrating with his title belt, DJ Nira stepped into the ring and told Ibushi that he is not the only person who is eligible to compete in the main event of Budokan Hall. Nira showed his “Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere” contract to Ibushi, shook his hand and then left the ring. Will Nira really cash it in at Budokan Hall?

This defeat continues the recent bad period Yuji Hino has had with championship matches. Not only has Hino lost the KO-D Title and the KO-D Tag Team Title, he also lost the STRONGEST-K Tag Team Title earlier this month in K-DOJO. Just goes to show how fickle a pro wrestler’s fate can be.

The nWJ shocked everyone when the fourth man turned out to be Yoshiaki Fujiwara! Tsurumi Amon could only watch on helplessly while his team were getting destroyed by Sanshiro Takagi and his group. After the mtch, Amon considered quitting his role as DDT General Manager. However, Katsuji Nagashima stepped in and encouraged Amon to stay in the job. With the war against Tsurumi Amon seemingly won, Takagi now gets to focus on his upcoming match against Minoru Suzuki in Budokan Hall. Takagi asked Fujiwara to coach him for the time being and Fujiwara accepted the offer.

Takagi was then joined in the ring by Masayuki Sato, the editor in chief of Weekly Pro-Wrestling to announce a special issue of the magazine will be released during the run up to the big show to celebrate DDT’s achievements.

A special opening video will be created for DDT’s 15th Anniversary show. DDT will be teaming up with manga artist Yoichi Takahashi, the creator of the famous football series Captain Tsubasa to make an animated video to open up the big event. If my translation is correct, the video will be about the DDT roster playing a game of football that leads them over to Budokan Hall. So imagine those Nike and Addidas advertisements but with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo replaced with Danshoku Dino and Michael Nakazawa.

Tensions are mounting between HARASHIMA and Shigehiro Irie. Even though HARASHIMA won the latest match between the two, they continued fighting after the bell. Fans won’t have to wait long for their next encounter as you will see below.

The joshi tour is over for the Iron Man Heavymetalweight Title. Now it is going over to China. Tsukasa Fujimoto was able to make it to today’s show despite losing the belt yesterday to Tsukushi in Ice Ribbon, who then lost it to a ring mat. The title then went back to Fujimoto and after a few more title changes she survived the Battle Royal as champion. At least until Choun-Shiryu snuck up on her, pinned her and then ran off with the belt.

That wasn’t the only story coming out of the Iron Man Title match. Before it began, video footage was shown of Danshoku Dino entering a bar owned by former DDT and Toryumon wrestler Toru Owashi. Dino met with Owashi and pleaded him to return to DDT. Owashi refused and kicked Dino out. The Battle Royal would then be interrupted by further video footage of Owashi looking depressed over his decision. Owashi’s mother slapped some sense into him and off he went to Korakuen Hall. When Owashi finally arrived, everyone in the ring gave him a Rocket Punch. Owashi then announced he will return to the DDT ring at Budokan Hall.

MIKAMI will return to action at DDT’s next Korakuen Hall show on 22nd July. DDT is also hoping to bring in Tatsumi Fujinami.

The lottery to determine the first round for KING OF DDT 2012 was held at the end of the show. The matches are as follows:

Tomomitsu Matsunaga Vs Masa Takanashi
Kenny Omega Vs Daisuke Sasaki
Michael Nakazawa Vs Hikaru Sato
Shigehiro Irie Vs HARASHIMA
Keisuke Ishii Vs Takao Soma
KUDO Vs Antonio Honda
