7. KUDO, Danshoku Dino & Makoto Oishi Vs HARASHIMA, Hikaru Sato & Keisuke Ishii

Some of the results from today’s Shin-Kiba 1st RING event has led to the card for next week’s Osaka show being reshuffled. The rivalry brewing between Crying Wolf and certain members of the DDT roster will continue with Yasu Urano facing Masa Takanashi and Daisuke Sasaki taking on the bug brute Yuji Hino. This is all setting up the KO-D Tag Team Title match which is mentioned below. Meanwhile the “First 4 Way Match Of The Year” is now the “First 3 Way Tag Match Of The Year” with Tomomitsu Matsunaga & Takao Soma representing DDT, Antonio Honda & Keita Yano representing Crying Wolf and Michael Nakazawa & Shoichi Uchida representing a DDT and Osaka Pro alliance.

DDT “IN CHIBA 2012”, 22/01/2012

2. HARASHIMA & Ryuichi Sekine Vs Antonio Honda & Keita Yano
3. Sanshiro Takagi Vs Takao Soma

With Daisuke Sasaki scoring the pin on Yasu Urano at Shin-Kiba, he and Masa Takanashi get the first shot at the new KO-D Tag Team Champions.

As the winner of the 2012 New Year Rumble, DJ Nira now has to face Jaki Numazawa from Big Japan. Will his Rocket Punch be able to take down the “Black Angel”?

Sanshiro Takagi’s call for wrestlers wanting to join his new “anti-establishment” unit has been answered by Takao Soma. The two are no strangers to each other as Soma was a part of Takagi’s TKG48 unit.

DDT “SWEET DREAMS! 2012”, 29/01/2012

1. Makoto Oishi, Akito & Hiroshi Fukuda (w/ Hikari Minami) Vs Yasu Urano, Antonio Honda & Keita Yano
2. New Year Dream Match: Keisuke Ishii Vs Yuji Hino
3. New Year Dream Match: Kenny Omega Vs HARASHIMA
4. KO-D Openweight Title: KUDO (c) Vs Danshoku Dino

Homoiro Clover Z is doing pretty well for itself so far. Win or lose, they will still hold possession of the KO-D Openweight Title after the main event. If KUDO beats Danshoku Dino, he will set the record for most KO-D Title defences. However, now that they are being pitted against Crying Wolf a more threatening challenge could be just around the corner for them.

Shin-Kiba 1st RING

1. Mio Shirai Vs Sexxxy Eddy
2. Ken Ohka Vs El Generico
3. Shuji Ishikawa & Shigehiro Irie Vs Kengo Ohka & Madoka

Mio Shirai is going to be in for a long night and I’m sure Sexxxy Eddy would agree with me (but not in the way I meant).

4. Sanshiro Takagi & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi defeated KENSO & Yoshiaki Yago when Takagi pinned Yago with the Sitdown Himawari Bomb (14:10).
5. Ayumi Kurihara (c) defeated Cherry with the Exploder Suplex (12:54).
6. Shuji Ishikawa & Shigehiro Irie defeated Daisuke Sekimoto & Kazuki Hashimoto when Ishikawa pinned Hashimoto with the Running Knee Lift (14:03).
7. DDT Extreme Title – TLC (Tonkachi, Ladders & Chairs): Isami Kodaka defeated El Generico (c) with the Rasengan (19:27).
*El Generico fails in V4. Isami Kodaka becomes the 17th DDT Extreme Champion!

Union had plenty to celebrate at the beginning of 2012 with Isami Kodaka winning back the DDT Extreme Title from El Generico in a Tonkachi, Ladders & Chairs match. After the hard fought match, Isami told Generico how fun it was to beat him in such an extreme battle. He then wished Generico farewell but was interrupted by Ken Ohka. Generico was challenged by Ohka to a match on 10th February, so the Generic Luchador will be sticking around in Union for at least a little while longer. Meanwhile Isami took centre stage and told the fans he now shared a bond with Kengo Mashimo from K-DOJO, KUDO from DDT and Abdullah Kobayashi from Big Japan. They are all champions who love to wrestle for their companies. Generico then congratulated Isami and said he is a true warrior deserving of the championship as the show drew to a close.

The first match for BIG “G” BANG was a rousing success. Shuji Ishikawa & Shigehiro Irie overcame the Strong BJ side of Daisuke Sekimoto & Kazuki Hashimoto. With this victory they gain momentum towards their future challenges.

Sanshiro Takagi & KENSO faced off for the first time since their No Rope Exploding Barbed Wire match at “WRESTLE EXPO 2006”. Takagi teamed with the brand new NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Champion Tsuyoshi Kikuchi to defeat KENSO and Yoshiaki Yago. The aftermath was very eventful as Kikuchi announced he was joining Union as a full-time wrestler. Takagi joked that Kikuchi had been thinking over his decision since last February. Takagi also talked about how he is so busy now that there needs to be a new Sanshiro Takagi to help take some of his workload. Takagi’s music hit and out came Keizo Matsuda of IWA Japan fame dressed as Takagi and performing his signature entrance.

NOSAWA Rongai & Io Shirai made a successful first defence of their Americas Mixed Tag Titles over the tsundere team of Ken Ohka & Mio Shirai. Despite their defeat, Mio admitted that she and Ken were starting to gel as a team. But she was adamant that it doesn’t change the dynamic of their “master and servant” relationship.

Big Morohashi has taken inspiration from the late, great Rick Rude and changed his ring name to Big Rude. After winning the 3 Way Tag match with Masao Orihara, the former Seiya Morohashi told his opponents “If you want to become the world’s best villain, you have to be rude!”

The gratuitous Twitter battle between Hiroshi Fukuda and RG opened the show. RG sang to Fukuda’s mentor and valet Rumi Kazama before the match began but the lyrics were about how overweight she was. Rumi tried to get revenge during the match with a steel chair, but RG ducked and Fukuda took the chairshot instead. As a result of his defeat, Fukuda and all of his 611 followers must now follow RG’s Twitter account.

7. DDT Extreme Title – TLC (Tonkachi, Ladders & Chairs): El Generico (c) Vs Isami Kodaka

Union held a press conference on Christmas Eve to promote the Cherry Vs Ayumi Kurihara match for 3rd January at Korakuen Hall. It was announced that the match would now be for the CMLL World Women’s Title. Ayumi said she has strong impressions of Cherry and she hopes to entertain the Union fans. Cherry said that nobody is safe when they wrestle Kurihara and used Ayumi’s victory over Yoshiko Tamura to win the NWA Women’s Pacific Title and NEO Singles Title last year as an example. She also mentioned this will be the fifth singles match between the two in their careers. Ayumi has won all four previous singles matches so Cherry is desperate to finally beat her.

2. Big New Year’s Match: Kenny Omega Vs Shigehiro Irie
3. KUDO, Danshoku Dino & Makoto Oishi Vs HARASHIMA, MIKAMI & Keisuke Ishii

DDT’s first show in Osaka for 2012 sees two big singles matches taking place. Sanshiro Takagi, who now looks to be regularly appearing in DDT again since his move to Union, faces DJ Nira in what will be an epic battle of wits, Yuzupon Kicks and Rocket Punches. Meanwhile Kenny Omega faces a beefier foe in the form of Shigehiro Irie. 2011 was the best year yet for Irie with pinfalls of Kota Ibushi and Shuji Ishikawa aswell as a couple of KO-D Tag Team Title reigns. Meanwhile Omega spent time in New Japan and All Japan, laying claim to the AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Title. His match with Irie could prepare him for a certain future challenger as AJPW’s Shuji Kondo has made it known to the public that he wants to win the title from Omega.

7. DDT Extreme Title – TLC (Tonkachi, Ladders & Chairs): El Generico (c) Vs Isami Kodaka

Union held its latest press conference in Shinjuku’s Dropkick Bar today to announce more news and matches for their big 3rd January show at Korakuen Hall. The conference began with Naomi Susan being joined by Isami Kodaka. Naomi told everyone she received an e-mail from El Generico about how he just defended the DDT Extreme Championship in Hawaii. Generico also said in the e-mail that he wanted his match against Kodaka to be fought under TLC rules. In this case the T in TLC does not stand for tables, but for Tonkachi which is a giant hammer previously used in Union by Chinese wrestler Cao Zhang. Isami said he wanted to win the belt back at any cost and accepted the TLC match.

After Kodaka’s portion was finished, the conference moved onto the new team of Shuji Ishikawa & Shigehiro Irie, together now known as BIG “G” BANG. The name is taken from a South Korean boy band for some reason.* It was then announced that Shuji & Irie will face Daisuke Sekimoto & Kazuki Hashimoto from Big Japan on 3rd January. Shuji & Daisuke are definitly no strangers to each other. It was Sekimoto who defeated Ishikawa to win the KO-D Openweight Title back in 2010. Irie described Sekimoto as being as strong as a gorilla. He compared his own strength to a dangerous bear that could kill a hippopotamus. Irie then said that hippos kill more people in Africa than any other animal, so that makes him very dangerous.

The Union show will be the second wrestling show taking place in Korakuen Hall on the 3rd. All Japan will have a show taking place earlier in the day with Kenny Omega defending the AJPW Jr. Heavyweight Title against Hiroshi Yamato in the semi-main. The Union show might be the fifth match Daisuke Sekimoto will have in Korakuen Hall in 3 days. He’s wrestling for ZERO-1 on the 1st, Big Japan & All Japan in the 2nd and finally All Japan and Union on the 3rd, all shows taking place in Korakuen. Crazy.

*Anyone else notice DDT’s trend of naming groups after musical acts lately?

El Generico Defends DDT Extreme Title In Hawaii

December 20, 2011

AZW “BATTLECLASH VII”, 19/12/11
FilCom Center, Waipahu, Hawaii

DDT Extreme Title: El Generico (c) defeated Kaimana.
*V3 for El Generico?

Not sure if this will be officially recognised by DDT and Union but El Generico successfully defended the DDT Extreme Championship when he defeated Kaimana at last night’s Action Zone Wrestling event in Hawaii. Not much information about the match is available right now except for a mention on both Generico and Kaimana’s Twitter accounts. With that little detour out of the way, Generico will return to Japan on 3rd January to face Isami Kodaka in a main event title match for “1…2…3…UNION!” in Korakuen Hall.

TKG Rogue Army, KGB48, Japan Vs Mexico? Twitter War!

December 14, 2011

DDT “NEVER MIND 2011”, 31/12/2011
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Runner Vs Runner: Tomomitsu Matsunaga Vs Kazuki Hirata
2. TKG Rogue Army Vs Homoiro Clover Z: X & X Vs X & X
3. Kenny Omega & DJ Nira Vs Masa Takanashi & Daisuke Sasaki
4. KO-D Tag Team Titles: Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie (c) Vs Yasu Urano & Yuji Hino
5. KO-D Openweight Title: KUDO (c) Vs MIKAMI

We’re going to need a flowchart for this one. Sanshiro Takagi has created a splinter group from the now obsolete TKG48 called the TKG Rogue Army. So far himself and Tsuyoshi Kikuchi are members of the group and they want to face wrestlers from around the world. Yoshiaki Yago & KENSO are already confirmed to face them Korakuen Hall for the Union 3rd January event. Takagi & KENSO have a bad history together. In 2006 the two fought in a No Rope Exploding Barbed-Wire match which KENSO won. Takagi described his defeat to the previously known Kenso Suzuki as a catastrophe. However, KENSO is not the only thing Takagi (and us too) has to worry about…

Russian wrestlers Ivan Markov & Bonnie from the IWF approached Takagi during a video message taped for DDT’s UStream channel. They told Takagi about Russia’s premier Wrestling Idol group, the KGB48. Furthermore, they revealed that they and their agent Vladamir Nagai were very important members of the faction. Takagi told them that he knows many wrestling groups from around the world and that together they will all form an “Allied Bukkake” and declare war on Homoiro Clover Z. The first match between the two groups will take place on New Year’s Eve.

UNION “1…2…3…UNION!”, 03/01/2012
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Loser Must Follow Winner On Twitter: Hiroshi Fukuda (w/ Rumi Kazama) Vs RG
2. Cherry Vs Ayumi Kurihara
3. American Mixed Tag Team Titles: NOSAWA Rongai & Io Shirai (c) Vs Ken Ohka & Mio Shirai
4. Sanshiro Takagi & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi Vs KENSO & Yoshiaki Yago
5. DDT Extreme Title: El Generico (c) Vs Isami Kodaka

The rocky relationship between Ken Ohka & Mio Shirai is starting to pay off. They have been granted a championship match for Korakuen Hall next month. It turns out their opponents will be NOSAWA Rongai and Io Shirai, Mio’s sister. While Mio and Io have probably had more wrestling matches against each other than they’ve had hot meals, Mio isn’t exactly thrilled with the idea of Ohka being in the ring with her sister. But that’s more because of the risk that Ohka will get his ass kicked rather than Ohka finding a way to take advantage of Io. However, Ohka has no such perverted thoughts and is seeing this as his best chance to become a champion again. With the Union/IWF relationship creating a Japan Vs Russia atmosphere, Ohka somehows sees this match as Japan Vs Mexico due to NOSAWA & Io’s frequent trips to the country.

The stipulation for Hiroshi Fukuda Vs RG has been decided. The loser of the match must follow the winner’s Twitter account. Fukuda is now encouraging his fans to stop communicating with RG on Twitter and instead retweet his own messages. There is still a very large gap in the amount of followers both wrestlers get (42,779 Vs 565 as of this post), but Fukuda is confident he will be the David against RG’s Goliath. He is counting on each and every one of his 565 followers to give him the power to defeat RG once the match takes place.

4. TKG48 Dissolution: Sanshiro Takagi defeated Tsuyoshi Kikuchi with the Sit Down Himawari Bomb (8:01).
5. Shuji Ishikawa & Shigehiro Irie defeated Katsuhiko Nakajima & Mitsuhiro Kitamiya when Ishikawa pinned Kitamiya with a Running Knee Lift (13:40).
6. Isami Kodaka 3 Match Trial: Isami Kodaka finishes the series with 1 Win, 2 Losses and 1 Draw (30:00).
6a. Isami Kodaka Vs Kengo Ohka ended in a Time Limit Draw (10:00).
6b. KUDO defeated Isami Kodaka with the Diving Double Knee Drop (8:15).
6c. Isami Kodaka defeated Shuji Ishikawa with the Isamu Leg (1:05).
6d. Shuji Ishikawa defeated Isami Kodaka with the Splash Mountain (4:30).

The gauntlet trial series consisted of three Ironman matches, each lasting ten minutes long. Isami Kodaka and Kengo Ohka lasted the ten minutes without a result. KUDO then came in and scored a pinfall on Kodaka, beating him 1-0. The third opponent was revealed to be Shuji Ishikawa, fresh off of winning the semi-main event earlier in the show. Kodaka surprised the giant with an Isamu Leg Super Kick to score his only victory in the series. Ishikawa soon defeated his friend with the Splash Mountain 3 minutes later, ultimately ending Isami’s record at 1 Win, 2 Losses and 1 Draw. Shuji told Isami that he was convinced Isami would beat El Generico and win back the DDT Extreme Title next month. KUDO said he also wants to see Isami win the title back from Generico.

Shuji Ishikawa expressed interest in him and Shigehiro Irie heading over to Kensuke Office for another Union Vs KO tag team match in the future.

Sanshiro Takagi was described to have used New Japan, All Japan and Yuzuki Aikawa wrestling styles to help him defeat Tsuyoshi Kikuchi in what was supposed to be the final match of the TKG48. However, Takagi was not happy to see Ken Ohka enter the ring with a brand new batch of TKG48 T-shirts after the match. Takagi tried to sell them off but even Kikuchi refused to buy one. So Takagi decided to form a TKG48 spin-off group and announced Kikuchi as the first new member. They threw out a challenge to the entire wrestling world for a match in Korakuen Hall on 3rd January. It turned out there was no need to do so as Naomi Susan announced that Takagi & Kikuchi will face Yoshiaki Yago & KENSO at the show.

With a victory over the Russians, Ken Ohka & Mio Shirai demanded to have a Tag Team Title shot for 3rd January. Naomi Susan granted their request, just not for the KO-D Tag Team Titles. Instead, Ken & Mio will fight for the American Mixed Tag Team Titles currently held by NOSAWA Rongai and Mio’s sister Io Shirai!

Bull Nakano was in attendence to announce a match for her Retirement show taking place in the new year. There will be a Battle Royal for teenage joshi wrestlers to take part in. As quick as a flash, Cherry entered the ring requesting to take part in the match. Nakano didn’t understand why Cherry was asking to take part. Cherry tried to convince Nakano that she is young enough to compete and even tried to get the audience on her side. The audience responded with boos. Nakano finally let Cherry take part when she began to cry.

Sexxxy Eddy will return to Union for its two shows in Sexy-Kiba Shin-Kiba and Osaka in February.

Hiroshi Fukuda then takes part in the young lion Six Man Tag. Danshoku Dino will produce some sort of competition that will no doubt disturb everyone in attendance. HARASHIMA follows that with a Six Man Tag Team Challenge bout. Poor Ken Ohka drew the short straw for his match, as he is involved in a Lighttube death match with some of Big Japan’s most violent wrestlers. Shuji Ishikawa teams up with Daisuke Sekimoto to form a brick wall of a tag team. Finally, the gauntlet will contain Daisuke Sasaki, Sanshiro Takagi, Antonio Honda, Masa Takanashi and Chou-un Shiryu, with possibly one or two more winning the last vacant spot reserved for a fan vote that will take place on an upcoming episode of Occupation Of The Indies.

1. Hiroshi Fukuda (w/ Rumi Kazama) Vs RG
2. DDT Extreme Title: El Generico (c) Vs Isami Kodaka

Hiroshi Fukuda announced that he will face TV personality and former HUSTLE wrestler RG at Union’s 3rd January Korakuen Hall event. Rumi Kazama used her connections to find a famous name for the young lion to fight so Fukuda would himself become famous for beating up a celebrity. Rumi ended up choosing RG because he has over 42,000 followers on Twitter. Fukuda said he believes the number of Twitter followers a person has is like the Power Levels in Dragon Ball Z, so by his logic RG must be very powerful. Fukuda meanwhile, only has 548 followers. It does not sound good for the rookie but there is hope for him yet. Fukuda has challenged RG to put his amount of followers on the line in a winner takes all battle! No word yet on whether or not RG has accepted the stipulation.

KENSO and Io Shirai will also take part in the show (and may God have mercy on all of us who watch KENSO’s match).

Takagi & Sato chose KUDO & Michael Nakazawa as their opponents because they wanted to fight a champion and a punching bag respectively.

There will be a lottery to choose who among the audience will be allowed sit inside the cafe while the match is taking place. This is being done because DDT will be paying the cafe for cleaning fees as well as any damage they cause during the match. The fans who do not win will still be able to watch from the outside.

There is some news about Union and its association with Russia’s Independent Wrestling Federation. The IWF will be sending over Ivan Markov and Bonnie to compete against Ken Ohka & Mio Shirai in a Inter-Gender Tag Team match. Union will continue its relationship with the IWF by having Mitsuya Nagai act as an agent to overlook negotiations between the two promotions. As a result of his new job, Mitsuya now refers to himself as Vladimir Nagai. Could this business relationship lead to a few Union wrestlers competing for IWF in Russia sometime next year?
